hey so one of my biggest accomplishments this season was stomping my first ever backflip on snow if you're interested to find out how I went from being terrified of ever doing backflips to stumping my very first one keep watching and the story starts just like it did for me with learning a front flip in the spring of 2022 hi I'm Chelsea and I'm terrified of doing flippy tricks so this was my second season learning freestyle skiing and as you can see I was really getting better but I had no interest in learning flippy tricks I was totally terrified and when I watched other people do them I was even scared for them so I really wasn't at that level and to be honest that was fine for me I was content with where I was then a few weeks later I was back home in Berlin and decided pretty spontaneously one day at the Trump house that I wanted to learn a backflip so I did after learning that first one I was hooked I was doing them all the time I found the trick really fun I was doing them at the jump house in Berlin I was doing them at the freestyle Academy in locks and I thought wow this trick is great and then something not so great happened hey so I'm at the trampoline house and I came here today with a plan to work on a cork 7 and it's still kind of a plan but I really stupidly like I don't know I think I went up like I didn't anyway I did I tried to do a backflip and I did half a backflip and came down like right on my neck neck and heard like it's 2 days after I went to the jump house and my neck is feeling a lot better but still a bit weird so I just want to get it checked out before I do more sport like play football and um like go trampolining again just to be really safe cuz it's your neck and yeah I don't want to I don't want to really mess around with that so I'm at the hospital and they did an x-ray and they're like oh yeah everything's fine just one thing and then they looked at it and then he was like yeah we should do a CT scan to just check this like hook thing and now I have this top vertebrae and the next one down and the next one down has a little like hook on it and they wonder if that's broken okay as you can see I'm not wearing the neck brace anymore cuz it's not broken yes I'm so relieved that would have really sucked so as you can imagine after that little mishap I was pretty scared and intimidated about doing back flips again so I put my energy into learning something new which was the cork 7 in hindsight I know that I started learning the cork 7 to distract myself from back flips I was pretty traumatized by having almost broken my neck and I really didn't want to do them anymore but the cork 7 was a new distraction and I always practiced it into the foam pit once in a while I would do a backflip but only into the foam pit and never onto the trampoline again that was going well and I was just starting to land the cork SS on the trampoline but then as you probably already know I got injured playing football in the fall of 2022 and that put everything on hold for a few months but after that I came back and had a really great ski season and during that ski season I stomped my first ever front flip then the summer following That season I finally joined a trampoline Club in Berlin which was great because I really was tired of dodging kids at the jump house and they also had better trampolines and a coach so so through the trampoline Club I started little by little to do back flips again that next fall I was at Banger park with some friends and my friend Tom was doing back flips and I wasn't super interested but after watching him do a few as usual I decided that I felt a little left out so I wanted to try one too and I tried my very first one time to do my second attempt at the back flip and not throw it too early did you see the last one I saw the last one yeah yeah did you see the landing oh I didn't see the landing but I I can imagine what you did on the landing came down like a little penguin like sliding my B the second attempt went much better and Tom and I did them side by side afterwards too then it was winter again and by this point the back flip was solidly one of the tricks that I knew I wanted to do this winter just like with the front flip my plan was to try it and powder first but before that powder day came I was at Hulk EB with my friend viente um training on the airbag there and the drump was perfectly built for back flips so it seemed like a shame not to try them there so I practiced quite a few there that day so after the airbags at hulb I thought you don't need to try this in powder first you're ready to take it to the jumps um I had the trick in my pocket and it was just a matter of which day to do it so I was skiing with Sandra my friend at black a few days later and if you remember from my front flips video centri can already do back flips but she'd only ever done them in powder and never off of a jump in a park so she wanted to do her first backflip on the jumps I wanted to do my first backflip on the jumps so we decided that we would both learn them that week and support each other and that week I was also attending a stomp at Camp so the night before the camp when everybody goes around the table and says their trick goals for the week I had to say that I'm planning on learning my first backflip and yeah then I did all right loaden I'm going to do my first back flip yes CH yes okay I'm just going to follow you yep ignore me yep zone out yep you have got this I know all right take enough speed go for it yeah CH come on girl come on come [Applause] on come on my girl come on my girl come on my girl yes yeah sh yes my yeah come on oh my God come on let's go let's go let's go all right CH what's going on all right I'm going to do my second back flip I'm going to take a little more speed because I was a bit slow on the last run and I'm going to stomp it you are yes yes yes [Applause] yes yes yes done and that's how I learned my first backflip I'm really really glad that I did because 2 days after learning it I crashed on a rail and ended up ripping open my knee and breaking my kneecap so that cut my season short and I was just so so happy to have landed one of my big trick goals before having done that and yeah I was proud of myself for doing it for being brave and it's a really fun trick so I can highly recommend learning to do back flips but do it smart and safe and you'll get a lot more out of it than if you do it stupid and quick and end up hurting yourself so that's how I learned back flip thanks for watching and see you in the next episode CH what are we saying oh my God how are you feeling I can't believe it I mean I can't believe it I knew I had it but it was so good and I just I just burst into tears what you've done is you fully committed you fully committed and all the hard work that you've done is paid off and if you put in the work it will pay off I know it'll pay off I just can't believe I did a backflip like I did a backflip thank you we're done
