how many times you started drawing super inspired and so hyped and everything was going so well until you had to draw the eyes of the character we've all been there but today I will try to help you a bit by sharing my tips for drawing eyes no matter  what's the style of the drawing hi I've drawn... eyes drawing the eye is essential you can  skip them or you have to explain yourself   but there are a few methods that can help you so  you can stop looking for the perfect eye tutorial because looking because it's an eye tutorial looking and because the eyes and looking we're going to learn how to draw the human eye once  and for all both of them but without eyelashes you don't want me drawing eyelashes unless you  want the tutorial to be how to draw a spider let's cover the basics the  eye is a ball or a sphere I'm marking the iris and the black  dot in the center aka the pupil I am sorry in profile view a lot of people  draw it in the edge of the eye   but as we see here it's actually  closer to the center of the iris   and we have the eyelids covering the eyes and boy  do we have variations of shapes and sizes for them before my start with the eyes was to go straight  to the eyelids I was getting more into trying   to make it look good than to understand  the actual volume and shape of the thing   I am trying to draw and I had to draw it perfect  not once but twice enough instead I will start with two circles which indicate where is the  position of the eyes and their overall size plus the circles are actually spheres in my  mind not the eyes and they will help me draw the eyelids correctly I'm drawing my eyelids around  imagining that I'm going through the volume of a sphere then I can draw my actual eye and add  some thickness in the corners of the eyelids for eyelash indication depending on the style I can  add more details like crease above or below and I have a horizontal line that will help me check if something isn't drooping then for the eyebrows the method is similar I'm treating them as  a hole with the eye I draw a second circle this will help me get the orientation right and  prevent me from making them too flat same as the eyelids and these circles are only to guide me I don't need to make my eyebrows or lids too curved no I can still have straight lines but  with a bit of a curve when is needed recently I showed you some of my realistic  studies and you wanted to see how I'm turning   my drawing more realistic so now I will show you  my approach to this method for the eyes we won't be using colors but values but the side cover tip  is that I never use pure white for the sclera you know that part here the pure white makes the eye  look a bit unnatural so I prefer off-white options so first I mark the main shadow that is cast  in the eyes area and drawing it my face gets some volume right away other shadow I add inside  the eye and below the lower lid the more we have the more our character needs to go to sleep I add  light in the inner corners of the eye and if we want more realistic eye we can add lighter color in the iris next to the pupil and I will continue with the left eye only but I don't need to say to you that you make your life easier if you work on both eyes and for the brow a trick that I do is  that I cover and then with a big brush I go to the beginning of the brows and either add the color  of the skin or delete some of the color of the eyebrow so that I don't have that hard edge in the  beginning just as is in real life in most cases to sum up I start with a circle for  a guide that is a sphere in my mind then I draw the eyelids around it plus  the eye inside then comes details and after that shadows and lights and last  realistic render if that's what i want for the three quarter view  the steps are the same folks   there's a catch tho as we see in this pic there  is a curve since this is the I hole in the skull where the eye sits yeah pretty sure eye hole is  not the most flattering or the correct word and one more thing both eyes are the same  size even though we see only part of one and don't forget that they are not placed on a  piece of flat wood and that the head is slightly curved the eyes should also indicate that the easiest way is to show it with the eyelids and again I will make a circle guide for the brows   and I will make sure this circle follows  the curve of the already drawn eyes   if the circle has other orientation or it's skewed  in a different way I will end up with eye and brow disconnected from one another there are more extreme  views where the eye looks a bit out of the face and you can draw it out as well just be sure  that the eyelids are also curved properly now this is my three steps for the  profile big surprise I use circle again and as I said beware where your  pupil is when you draw realistic here for the brow drawing the circle is super  helpful for me because I find this view of the   face most challenging and sometimes I bug  my head where the brow should curve and the tricky part here is to check if your  eye is following a diagonal like this   it may seem subtle but if it's  missing the eye can look a bit off now for the eye shapes there are  a lot of different eye shapes but the difference comes mainly from the  upper eyelid and the bottom eyelid so based on this we have some general shapes the almond type eye has both corners relatively symmetrical and following the horizontal line if we move the outer corner we will have upturned eye other type are the hooded eyes where the eyelid  line is falling over the eye more visible and we can have variations of all types for the  upturned eyes we also have downturns where the outer corner is lower than the inner in any case the lids orientation affects the form of the eye we can also have round eyes which are  usually very open and with clearly visible iris and also monolid eyes the last type has many  variations and in general drawing asian characters doesn't mean draw them with small or very closed  eyes the difference comes from the way the upper eyelid starts closer to the eye yes sometimes these types of eyes can show the least amount of iris but we can also see Mulan as a clear example  of big Disney eyes where the eye is visible but we can clearly see the monolid eye because of  the way her upper eyelid is pushed towards the eye another type of variation can be depending  how close or far apart are the eyes   and with all of that said you can just experiment  with everything the eye can be drawn in many ways so the more you try the better just experiment oh one more variation this is depending on what is the age of your character typically kids or  young adults are drawn with bigger eyes closer to the nose this is also rule for animals or for  every character that you want to make look really cute as for the really old character they are also  cute but the gravity has the last word so when I draw them I tend to follow the gravitation and to  give their eyes and brows a bit of a droopy effect and now the fun part I'm going to draw some eyes but before that let's make a quick summary of everything that I've just said I'm using circle depending on what is the style I can either make it big or small small mostly when I'm more into  realistic drawings that circle in my mind is a sphere and I draw the eyelids around it this  helps me draw the eyes correctly from any angle same for the eyebrows I use a circle for a guide  so that my brow looks more in tune with the eye hi quick side note the subscribe button is here here so you can subscribe and when you draw remember the rule the face is not a pancake so be aware of the planes of the head even though you're just in  this case drawing the eye and I am sure that you remember that rule but this video won't be  full if I don't slap pancake in my sister's face also I know that we all prefer to draw cute  young girls but once you feel more confident about drawing the human eye try to draw more wrinkled  people I don't want to say old because age is just number and we are all young by spirit but yeah on the other hand that's some very angry grandpa this lady is first mood and secondly very good  reference how the eyeballs affect the eyelids when they're in motion I look where is the  highest point of the eye and I will draw both the stylized version and the realistic version so we can see how we can create the eye with different approaches and the most important  thing in both ways is to show the curve okay so we draw different eyes different views of eyes and now because this is one of my tutorials we have to look at some wrong  examples of how to draw the eye and of course that I'm going to trash my old art so yeah I dug deep into my art archives and you know what time it is yes laughing at my old art I even forgot that I've drawn that but we can  clearly see the highest point where the   eyeballs are pushing the eyelids and in my case  if we trace my drawing that's totally missed and if I draw a nose then  it's even more clear that   the eyes are kinda orientated towards us and  not facing three quarters so let's fix that that's it folks if you like it try the method  that I show you in this video find your favorite artists or artists and see their approach to drawing the eye and flip the anatomy book to search for even a deep analysis of the topic the next tutorial of the series will be a hair tutorial because A this was the most requested  thing after the eyes and B we will cover the hair and the eyes and this will be the upper part of the head and then we will cover nose and mouth and stuff like that the lower part i don't know it  sounds like some kind of a plan and some kind of a structure and this channel needs some structure so this is the plan thank you for watching so you can stop loop so
