How GOOD is the Farmland Compound? (State of Decay 2 HYPER Community Episode 139!)

and would you look at this it's time I'm Yours get good Fox and the big base itself the Farmland compound it's time for the formal review this is the last base review in the series I'll have one more video after this where we talk about the valley itself Trumbull Valley and I'll tell you what I think about it but for now let's focus on reviewing the big old farm land compound now it's no secret if you guys know my personality you already know what I think about this but I'm going to start out with it this is the second best base in the game and it would be it would be the best base in the game if not for Whitney Field if Undead Labs Nerf's Whitney Field this is going to become the best base in the game and let me show you why first let's talk about the Fantastic location look at this location the Farmland compound is located right smack dab in the middle of Trumbull Valley it costs six people and 3 500 to get in so you know pricey but let me tell you get what you pay for the central location is fantastic because if you have quests in any direction you can deploy from your headquarters and the drive distance is going to be pretty similar like if you were like uh let's say you were over here in this base you'd have to drive a little bit further you know if you were in this space over here the red Talent flb what if you had to drive all the way down here it can get annoying so normally location is a bit of a convenience and I don't really it's a factor in my decision making but let me tell you something that's fantastic is when you can just have the location and the power and this base has it in Spades let's take a look at what we're getting so over here you are getting one two three four large facilities to customize it's the only base in the game that has four yes there is the lumber mill that has five but no other base has exactly four so it's quite unique in that regard then you've got one two three small facilities you can customize and then you have three of these built-in facilities I'm not going to count the command center in the fire safe storage because every base has one of those and they don't have any unique benefits now you can tell which facilities are built in and therefore non-removable based on the border so blue border means you can't remove it brown border means it can be removed and replaced and it is a little bit of a mixed bag with the built-in facilities this one's fantastic so we have a refugee clean Nick here this is equivalent to a level 3 infirmary and it is equivalent all the way down to the fact that it does cost one material per day normally a built-in doesn't charge you one material per day so it's it's basically equal to that of a level three clinic now you didn't have to build it that is some benefit but the fact is that in a large base like this you are going to be investing all the way and you do wish that a built-in would waive the cost of a one material per day now over here we have the barbecue pit this is almost equivalent to a level two kitchen note that there isn't a material requirement that is fairly common for built-ins so this one you just kind of get you get a little bit boned it's not that big of a penalty nevertheless it is a penalty uh the big problem here though is you don't have the feast option you only have Grill stuff up you can bump up the morale because you're going to spend one food get three morale you can get I believe like 10 morale if you have some cooking skills um you don't get the full Feast benefits and I do think that the feast benefits would be a lot better better but it doesn't really matter in general because I don't think that kitchens are very good if you're having food problems build a bunch of food outposts food outposts are way better than relying on a kitchen especially on a lethal Zone where you're not trying to make your morale any worse than it already is over here we've got a sturdy bunk house so this is a bed facility and you get six beds as you can see right here you have the option to pack the bunk rooms that brings you up to eight beds but you do get a penalty you get like I believe a five morale penalty the penalty completely destroys it because with two more beds You're Gonna Save 14 morale but then you're going to take a minus five morale penalty times everyone in the community so in my case I've got nine people here so it would be minus five times nine so I would actually I would gain uh 14 morale but then I would lose 45 absolute trash this whole thing is garbage like just um the best thing you can do is plug in a white noise machine in here you'll get 10 morale otherwise remember beds are bad beds are garbage beds are I do not I never recommend people build beds some people like the aesthetica beds if you like Aesthetics that's fine but if you're just trying to be like uh powerful in the game forget about beds they are a waste now what did I build here the good news is that your building options are pretty flexible let's start with the small facilities because they're less in numbers so obviously we've got ourselves an infirmary great we would we don't have to build it but now we've got ourselves a workshop you know obviously you want to repair things great idea and then over here I I had a choice I could either do fighting gym and shooting range unfortunately we can't squeeze both in that is a penalty of this base that is one of the things I do prefer once again about Whitney Field I think three five is the best combination by that I mean three large five small I think is the best combination but this is still really really really good so I went with the crafting still crafting still lets you make beer to make money uh if you've got knowledge alcoholic beverages it's like 300 influence per batch so it's gonna take it costs three foods so each food is basically becomes worth 100 influence that's really good you can turn uh you can make ethanol here to make strong painkillers it's really fantastic and I felt like I had enough stamina so I didn't really need the shooting range so went for the still gym I obviously would be great it would be great if we could get rid of these beds here and put in a shooting range but you know it's just not in the card so that's what I went there for the large facilities the only two you really really gotta have are the lounge level three remember you get auto training train all of your skills see right they're small increase to also it's not small it's actually really substantial and then you've got the trade Depot trade Depot is just it's super strong every base should have a trade Depot every base should have a lounge which is why a good mid game base has at least two large facilities and too large is workable in an end game but you would like to have three at least three large in an end game now for the other two it's really up to you and I mean that literally I think the only two really meta really super awesome large facility choices are trade Depot and lounge and the other two you should pick whatever your community needs I've got here a Sniper Tower so if you're worried about ferals coming after you if you you're worried about Juggernaut sure go with the Sniper Tower but if you've if you've learned to cope with Juggernauts and ferals then yeah forget the Sniper Tower over here I want the field hospital field Hospital allows you to do the double cro the double primary care as you can see right there we get a 45 uh plague infection reduction and if you also have cert that comes from knowledge of pathology if you have knowledge of surgery as well you get a 45 or yeah you get a reduction to injuries as well now the thing is you can activate it here and then you can go to your clinic and you can activate it here and they will stack so you'll get 50 Max health and 50 mag South you'll get 45 plague infection resistance and 45 plate infection versus that's 90 so a 90 chance you'll ignore a plague infection that's really really good so which large facilities should you build it just depends on what is taking you out if you're getting a lot of blood plague this might be worth it you might actually save medicine in the long run from not chugging um plague cures other options would be uh how about a Haven device you could definitely put a Haven device in you could put in a an auto shop you could just put anything you want in here I honestly feel like four is a little Overkill I don't really need four I mean I'm gonna build something there obviously but I don't think it's absolutely necessary not in the slightest but that is our facility situation so what makes this base so good what makes it so good is the fact that it's centrally located it has great great customization options and it's a little bit easier to get into you only need six people remember uh you could start the game with the Traders Legacy that starts you at 4 000 influence so you can start the game with enough with enough money to move in and all you're gonna have to do all you're gonna have to do is recruit some extra people that's really not that big of a deal so you can get in here really quickly whereas if you were doing let's say uh Whitney Field sure it's also 3 500 influence so you would start with enough money to move in but you wouldn't be able to just immediately go you'd have to go find what like five more people like five six seven eight yeah you have to get five more people to get into Whitney Field another thing that I found that's really nice about this base is a lot of the time it's not covered by that many play guards like I have found the space covered by only two play guards like a few times it's not that uncommon actually so you don't have to fight too hard to get into it you don't need a full eight people to get into it and it gives you like great great options it's a really just a fantastic base overall and there's uh you know yeah okay there are some cons to the base one of the cons some people might be unhappy that this area as you can see is pretty empty there's not a lot of loot to loot around it that doesn't honestly bother me that much mainly because you can build an outpost if you want if you want to uh if you want to place a drop off your loot you can just go to an outpost and yes sure you can't build or you can't drop off your rucksacks there but that just means that if you're using an Impaler you have to drive back to your base every five rucksacks because you'll have you know you can fit four in the trunk one on your back and I guess if you're crazy you could bring so I mean if you're on standard Zone it's not that crazy but if you're on lethal so yes you could bring one of your allies I personally wouldn't do it but you could and then you could bring a sixth the rucksago or I mean you could you could there's other Strat you can use other things like you can use a vandito a vendito has nine slots and yeah you just got to be a little more careful not like a whole lot more careful because it can't kill the ferals as easily but you can bring home 10 rucksacks nine in the trunk one on your back and I mean like do you really need to be able to bring rucksacksaw back to base faster than that especially when this Base is located in the middle of the map so no matter what kind of a cargo trip you're making like I'm right now you don't have to drive that far because this base is gonna be in the middle of all of the play guards and once again driving through the middle of the map is an absolute pleasure like look at this driving is this driving difficult is this driving complicated not at all it's great so I it's really I I would say it's the best located base in the entire game it's actually a little surprising to me that they even would allow a bass like this to be smack dab in the middle normally I'd expect one of those smaller bases to be in the middle just because it's a very nice convenience but that's what they wound up deciding to do another thing is great about this basis yeah you do you do get the four large although I do feel four large is a little bit excessive um it means you could do all of the god combos like if you want to do God combo infirmary then you can do it if you want to do like God combo Salvage furnace you've got plenty of room to do it it's not a big deal at all so overall I'm gonna tell you right now this base is absolutely fantastic if you've never lived in this base I highly recommend it especially because there are unique things that you can get here and that's another advantage to this base one advantage you get is Echo Labs Echo Labs is one of the best it could be the best Landmark location depending on whether or not you have access to see what do you call it uh Advanced biochems if you don't have access to Advanced biochems that is one of the biggest if not the biggest power Spike that you can excessively get in the game it's absolutely crazy and even if you do have advanced biochems remember you can get the bonus stamina or the bonus Health from the serums and sure the serums make you a little bit more susceptible to blood plague but it's only it's five percent it's not it's not that big of a deal it's five percent and what you're gonna get is either a good chunk of extra health or a good chunk of stamina so you get this base it's easier to get into than normal plenty of room to build build most of the god combos yeah you know you can't quite have every small facility you want but it's just so so good combine that with the echo labs and then you can also remember you also have the access to the quests the quests are great you get Merchants like you get messy once you get Tracy's Quest completed she becomes a merchant that is allied with you and she has a thousand influence in her shop per day like or every two days like basically she doubles the influence that other people are gonna have and that's absolutely fantastic like that is going to mean that you can earn way more money because she can buy more stuff from you per day than other people she's also a great source of food she's a great source of medicine so if you're trying to make lots of beer if you're trying to make ethanol if you're trying to make painkillers she's going to be a great option like she's really really good you also get ray Santos and later on Mickey Wilkerson they become fantastic trade Partners you also get Chavez and isbe you could take their Quest up don't completely do their Quest take it up to a point to the point where you get them both at the same time they are are Immortal they take damage but they are Immortal they cannot die and they will follow you anywhere on the map just grab them and they can help you kill the play guards they will distract the enemies they will distract the Pharaohs they will kill some of the enemies they might even kill some of the Pharaohs and they will let you go to town on the play guards with people that you don't even need to do anything you don't even need to pay anything all you got to do is you know you do at the progress their Quest but it's a quest you're getting money you're getting all kinds of great stuff it's absolutely insane the only real disadvantage here is that yes you do have a bit of a rough start checkpoint Delta it does think it's not a great base but this has probably the most powerful mid-game of any map in the game because of the immortal isbe and Chavez set up it's actually a really good place to farm out your lethal Zone Legacies but I would only recommend it if you're pretty familiar with nightmare Zone because once again it is going to be a little rough starting out in checkpoint Delta not a lot of supplies checkpoint Delta sucks and you're gonna have to be careful when you attempt to get out either into the pterodactyl park or into the Tranquility Factory and then into the Farmland compound which is exactly the path of progression I would recommend you start in checkpoint Delta and then you have your choice pterodactyl Park or Tranquility Factory and then go to the Farmland compound you could well they're really um not taking their time over here are they you could also go to the red Town fob if you want to try things out you could do it to farm Clio stuff you could do it to get your free red Talon character but I would only do that if you are specifically interested in those things if you don't care about those then absolutely skip it and just get into the farm land compound but that is going to be my review what do you think are you a Farmland compound enjoyer do you agree I know there's a lot of people out there who they want this base to be the best let me tell you I would make I would declare this base to be the best but the thing is you got it you got to give it the Whitney feel you got if you're being fair you know Whitney Field is the best now you may not like it you may feel that it's too strong but it's the best so that's why it got it I would be happy to declare this base the best wow look at the background I just noticed how like that that's a beautiful background right there it reminds me I I once went to like Virginia and like that's what it looked like in Virginia in the fall beautiful background oh especially with them what a what a beautiful background that might make me
