what's up everybody welcome to the show today we are in florida tennessee camp killed across the home of part one of the 2020 classic games what's happening on the show right back here i'll tell you my buddy matt fraser and chicle tumi they're gonna throw down and they're gonna you know compete to qualify for part two with the crafting game phase two let's just roll the footage mr frazier have i have it set for 8 am and it'll start lighting up a little bit and then it just gets bright right right right wow so i have the alarm set for a so at eight o'clock there's like bird chirping noises i've never slept until it's like 7 50 you're just like huh it's just like the day is here matt personally made me a beam dream i'm going to sleep next to you yeah let's call that big spoon big spoon where are we right now we're across the cot oh wait we're a calf killer crossfit almost set up but this is where mantillas are gonna compete in the first stage of the crossfit games a lot of fans a lot of wind a lot of what have you got fans we got a fan and then we got the two biggest whatever it's going to look like see if i can uh stretch out the boundary to four feet you know squared how you doing what's up good now i was holding on to that for a very long time it was a big piece that was a big pig big pedal i think this is a really cool opportunity for athletes to show like you know what they're truly capable of doing whether there's like you know no fans like no no uh like spectators if you will and then just the hype and even seeing your competitor like it's it's there's just so many things that are out of your control it does suck for some people like especially rookies like i do feel sorry for them not being able to experience like the whole thing unless they get into the next stage i'm like these workouts are very good for everyone and like they're gonna hurt okay so right now they're weighing the weights they're weighing they're measuring the floor they're setting up where the boxes are where everything's gonna be happening throughout the weekend uh i don't know if there's gonna be a fans here tomorrow i don't know if they've invited people it's kind of an interesting time we're weighing plates to make sure nobody's cheating 44.8 but we'll do that again let me just try this spot over here that will give me so much smack talk in training and then he's a gentleman when it comes to either a camera or even competition what have i been yesterday is calling me ugly yeah today all day so i watched a couple episodes of new girl last night and then schmidt sent me a video matt it's max and lily we're sending you a message just letting you know what an inspiration you are you know i try to tell lily all the time hard work pays off and that's why i have her cranking it out on the assault bike every morning every night before you go to bed where did you just get off you just got off the assault bike that's right and why do i have you doing that because i'm going to be the one who does the [ __ ] [ __ ] right [ __ ] a right thanks max so four points in between every person yeah just about i think and clean slate after this going to aromas clean slate do you like that or is that bad it kind of takes away the incentive to like sell your soul here yeah oh i mean like like the fifth place guy i don't think will be at par with the top one two or three i think there will be a clear separation between one and two and the rest or one two and three in the rest um yeah so i don't really like the clean slate thing and then in aromas the points go 100 points 75 55 35 whoa and then it was 15 0. so i don't know what that means i only got like two thirds being more than a first and 555 yeah so 75 for second place i have to think about that so uh big day big day yeah i got butterflies yeah well once he starts getting nervous i'm like oh he's feeling nervous if he wasn't like gagging and like super nervous and breathing heavy i'd be like oh god we're in trouble yeah there's always nerves i'm scared that i might have a lapse in judgment and might not be proud of my effort your results are determined by what your competitors do so you have very little control over that but you have 100 control over the effort that you put in my new gun just shipped what did you get i got a q mini fix i mean competing is painful it's fun once it's over but it's stressful it's painful that's how i know i did a good job on the competition floor is that i'm at a pain level that i didn't think i could handle [Music] i think crossfit did a good job with how they're setting up this first phase of a competition over two days there's four competition windows 9 a.m until noon and then 3 until 6 pm on friday 9 until noon and then noon until 3 pm on saturday good morning everyone good morning so yeah you have to verify each plate's weight which is great because there are plates globally that have the same colors that are less so people just can't get away with using a blue plate that's 35 pounds and then there's a line at which you have to do your thrusters at and everything is equal distance from the rig so it's eight feet to the thruster line you have to be in front of it and 15 feet to the start line but it's great i mean now every like there's no like people trying to like screw with where their bar is or anything it just makes it even you know [Music] oh what's up bro nice day i'm trying to hide yeah yeah i'm trying to camouflage here in cookeville yeah i'm trying not to be seat out here uh they're when they're warming up this is where it's happening the crossfit games 2020. yeah you would think that this is uh that looks like carson california madison whatever you call it exactly same same thing that's the colosseum but 2020. yeah you know we got the champs in there matt fraser tumi you know we're gonna repeat here friendly friend friendly friend some other events let's go [Music] yes yes i'm fully ready for this workout to physically hurt more than any in-person competition [Music] i can't throttle back now i could be in a workout and be a minute ahead of everyone else if i'm in a workout and i realize i'm ahead i pull back because you can't earn more than 100 points so the instant reaction of that is like damn this is gonna hurt flip it over and i think good i'm gonna push myself to a limit that i didn't know before [Music] i'm very confident i think that i'm ready i've done the work now i just need to execute it the way i need to in order to place and position myself where i need to be in order to get ready for stage two of the crossfit games [Music] [Music] going into the games this year i feel amazing i have made a lot of progress so i'm excited to show that off i think for me coming into this stage one i'm right where i need to be when i compare myself to the tier that competed at the 2019 crossfit games i feel so much better i mean my goal for any competition is to a do the best i can you know my my biggest fear is to not live up to my potential the overarching goal over that is i hope that those results are enough to lead me to a first place finish so when it comes to competing by yourself and not having your competitors there it's a challenge in itself for sure but that's what we train for [Music] [Music] did you see how he took off the shirt so that's how it's how people do it so my grip was fine it was on the last set i like my quads and hips i couldn't like pop at all and then i understand oh this is why will wilmore had like broke it up like three or four times oh man can you believe it holy cow the speeding yeah man my hair's blowing back i had to like keep it out of my face because there was so much wind yeah i had to take the restrictor plate off the red dragon uh i don't think anyone's going to beat matt's time i mean that's the fast time we saw will morod he's a pretty good thruster pull up a guy and his call was like 3 40. that was 30 seconds faster yeah man you could have watched a you know an ad yeah you got to run a spot in that spot yeah so claire toomey crushes it yeah i mean to the top of the world off to a great start here we got the uh front squat but here's the thing is we gotta wait like four hours to find out how they did yeah i mean if it's anything yeah i think it looks like i did really good but we'll find out front squat up next what do you think heavy weights yeah yeah she's probably gonna squat me i bet you tct gonna take the top time on that or top weight because i mean i mean i think we got speak speech speaks competing man where have you been i don't know you know it's hard to know all right eventually up next you just go to a website and they have it all listed there um so we got a new scale and it's it looks like the other scale might have been off by point two so these are weighing differently which is why we're re-weighing them this is a new warm-up i've never seen brutal gains this is some some global gym there's that insta-fit yeah instant [ __ ] yeah i panicked for a sec rosa texted me and was like damn dude your time is good i didn't recognize like i didn't connect the name to who it was i thought it was just some random person texting me like yo your time i was like who the [ __ ] gave my time it was not me it's not me oh i mean matt beat me which is annoying i mean that he's got one up on me now maybe i can get him in the front squat i mean all the workouts that have come out so far it's like oh okay it's a good test yeah you can't repeat the workouts one attempt each time you can't do the workouts with anybody so like tia and i can't compete side by side [Music] what that little wobble there i think he just passed out but i was like what the hell was happening yeah i didn't know what it was see it just came over she's like it's okay that happens sometimes it's fine i was like okay then the green and the white [Music] come on [Music] 4 26. i don't know they have to because the change plates weigh in a little different they don't count the bars 45 so you see there's a piano 21 pound pr yeah coming in i said anything over 400 i'd be happy i don't know the last time i appeared my friends got about 21 pounds how does someone continue to get this much better 21 pound pr chief tell me about it that is that is crazy i i've i mean i've seen him left for years now i saw the 405. that's a huge pr for matt like matt jumps you know three pounds here five pounds there that's a big number that's really cool he doesn't just hasn't done it in probably like three three years but that's awesome that's a big number max you got the max front squat ever probably probably 2.95 with that beard not with the beard okay i bet it's 300 now i don't think so i haven't squatted your nice is 2.95 yeah mine's 285 that was mine 10 pounds less look i got some heart because i got a hot heart maybe it's 310. don't just all the sudden try to up your numbers now that i called you out no so that twitching is your body's natural reaction when it senses that you're like going unconscious yeah and it you're not supposed to be your body's like yo wake up dog and so it starts convulsing it looks sketchy it looks but but you just immediately come out of it like you're just like cool i'm okay and you just taste pennies pennies okay matt fraser almost passes out on like lift two i was so scared i was so scared i've never seen him do that and i was like what's happening what's happening yeah tight ball real tight ball yeah and then uh and then tia claire toomey gets up well actually flashback flashback matt fraser's doing his lifts as he's doing his lifts he's he passes out and then continues on yeah what do you know about a 21 pound pr well you know about almost passing out then going all the way up to the pr beyond it we talk about guacamole claire jimmy gets out there she does anything she does two or three lifts better than anything i've ever dreamt of doing yeah man and then struggles on the last two lists i don't think i've ever front squatted that much i don't think you have either oh yeah i went there okay so what else we got up next we got uh we might do a workout they might do a workout they're definitely gonna do a workout deadlift handstand push-ups and a row 1k 1k 1000 meters what's your 1k road time tell me about it never known about it let me get a burrito huh what are you doing back there none of your business i'm here watching the results oh my gosh oh my gosh let's show the results for the men holy [ __ ] man fraser's time is 308 which is almost 50 seconds faster than the next person 50 seconds the 308 the next person second place 355. [Laughter] oh my gosh i'm sorry noah you did really good about that is insane wow okay so shout out to our boy yeah our boy uh will morad 3 50. he would have been second place in this workout but matt fraser just comes involved three guess who's in the win guess who's winning the women coming in first place in event one chief claire two big two one yeah what about event two and then two i think went a different direction oh first place team fan show me two for two not bad not bad man i just want to thank everyone from the just so beginning clear it's not about the leaderboard it's about the leaderboard it's always been about that let's just say it's been a very quiet morning i know okay i love you matter what now i love you when matt did the railway i was like i've seen him many things in my life but to see him come off that and go tear you only fear on the last 21 chester bars yeah no like he goes 100 reps then you feel it within two minutes no yeah he goes yeah hey that was easy don't worry about it way easier than what you'd expect yeah but what does it count for i didn't get any extra points you don't get extra points for winning by a minute i'm more happy with my front squat results than i am the friend because i got a 20 pound pr like you can't ask for much better on a competition day like you're ahead by 12 points i'm ahead by 16. all right we're halfway through day one we've got to fuel up oh did you give me a blue would you give me i got you a melon mania or a rosie razzleberry take it take it [Music] there you go oh cheers [Music] oh melania yeah do you drink the whole can sammy little girl big can [Laughter] okay so we gotta go kind of quick she's about to start it's tia to me doing event three 15 15. three rounds 205 deadlifts 15 hand sample two inch deficit though that's what she said uh what yeah chew it let's go all right let's go damn diane that one i'm excited for that one there's no thinking no strategy no nothing it's just full speed from the get-go and just hang on [Music] i knew that the weight wasn't too heavy and so when it came down to the hands and push-ups you don't have any momentum or anything like that with kipping so it's all strict so you're really relying on your muscles to just be able to withhold that intensity and the amount of energy you're exerting [Music] uh we've done three workouts he's beaten me into if you go off the front squat because obviously and then uh i got him in number three all right it's really interesting with this format like i think like initial reaction from him is he's like he's comparing to tia's time but it's hard male to female though because i think a lot of times weight is different i think that that deadlift might proportionately be a little lighter for females than it is for the males but you can't really compare yeah um i think he did great like we know his capacity is as high as anyone's for him to be at his limit um tells me that his score is good hi i don't need to go either oh okay three vents in three down four to go i mean up next we got a row 1k row i'm going to say that's the most painful work out of the bro that is the worst workout of the weekend uh we just been in there strategizing with cheap and shane yeah they're over there they're looking wicked spot trying to calculate all the apples out 1.1 yeah what are they trying to say they're trying to say like you're trying to walk through this you're going to go slow down what we're trying to do now is just play around with strategies of what we've done in the past and see if we can implement them here in a controlled environment like okay how do i beat kia and they said this is how and i said okay you're trying to be kia yeah i mean are we all we're all gunning who are you trying to be i'm just trying to be better myself every day get out of here yeah hi sammy event four coming right up let's go doing a 1k road there is nothing worse than doing like an all-out effort and you know you can you know hold that pace for say three minutes for me it's going to be a little bit over three minutes for sure but the power output that you're going to have to have and just the heart the pure heart you're going to have to have to hold on to a fast pace like that i think a lot of people look at his size and think he's not a good girl i honestly think matt's one of the best rowers in the game burn it down okay [Music] [ __ ] y'all thinking [Music] [Applause] [Music] um 321 i mean that seems fast i don't know you know what do you think according to her coach she smashed it okay you know they executed well with if this is the aftermath oh pretty pleased about that crowd pacing is perfect dude you could not have hit that better thank you i mean i feel great other than cold sweats and like the little nervous shakes but scratchy throat from screaming i feel fine i did not just max my 1k i was kind of like [ __ ] i underpaced this you know i went too slow and then i put the pedal down and like 200 meters left i was like nope i picked the right paces my analysis is he went pretty good i think it was a good job yeah i don't know about horsepower hey gonna i'm calling i'm calling this right now zero chance you bt oh i don't think i'm gonna beat you at all after that if she was like three twenty did she get yeah if she was like 327 i'd be like maybe yeah that's my goal five maybe yeah yeah you're gonna jump in and do the wrong k you might as well do it yeah i might do it here we [Music] once go a week 15 second viewer all right back at the room how'd that uh little road thing that real thing went well yeah i watched it was a pr uh max heart rate whoop data always provided by the whoops max heart rate 178 it tells me i spent three minutes at 80 to 90 percent of my max heart rate 178 heart rate huh yeah they say working out of this heart rate zone build your aerobic capacity yeah so we'll pick up a 1k's and your real book capacity is going to go up ask priests hindi about it season 10 maybe we'll see him on the show maybe you'll bring me a pair of shoes yeah size 9. we're at fraser's residence you know they're probably just kicking back having some feeding freezers waiting for the show to start to see the results maybe the leaderboard see who's winning my prediction maddie for maddie fred's again let's go stacking dairy what are we watching here matt i don't know what's it called like the update show for events three and four what's up hey um oh hefner's in 23rd oh man some of my boys are just dropping like flies so after four events matt almost has a 100 point lead what a [ __ ] okay friends over beam gave us a challenge because they saw that we kind of always poke fun of cbd and they say the beam dream works and you can use your whoop to track the data and report back if it actually does so we were skeptical we reached out to the sleep queen brook wells yeah she's a big fan do you want cbd oils you're doing right yeah i use beans that's like the key i drink that every night yeah oh yeah she loves it amanda barnhart too maddie crazy he said it right over here roll the foot does beam actually work like does the dream yes 100 for the month of august every night i took beam and i recorded it and logged it in my whoop app and now we're going to analyze the data middle of the month i got a notification when i was looking at my recovery score that says my hrv typically increases 10.4 when you report cbd at the end of the month i went to the app and i typed in the monthly performance assessment and here's the data i got my recovery actually went down four percent but that could be a number of things i trained more that's one out of six markers that went down everything else went up my resting heart rate was down to what you want uh my hrv went up 13 on average i slept 50 minutes more yeah when i took the pills i noticed a huge spike in my hrv for some reason who knows what that is very similar but i've been treating this stuff though this is great yeah it was like a nightly routine yeah it's like a nice little nightcap yeah you know and then i lay down on the pillow and then speaking of dreams they're vivid they've been having them you know yeah they're vivid yeah and i haven't a lot of would you tell others to take it yeah i mean who wouldn't want to try and sleep deeper and have better dreams i mean i mean if you want vivid dreams vivid dreams i'm talking like you know i had these meat stacks and whatnot for sure my hrv went up so i think as a recovery tool it could be something to keep in your quiver yeah i recommend it give it a try matt phrase it does it yeah and it works really well yeah i think he's obviously recovering really well he's winning the thing right nancy these are workouts that we literally started the sport [Applause] anyone can do them yeah they're changed just a little bit but you know that they're going to hurt so all the athletes need to be prepared to get into that hurt locker nice mat low and go buddy this is the last second last round come on maybe the overhead squats are in my wheelhouse i know i'm good at burpees i'm a decent distance runner once you combine all three i think i have potential to do very well in that [Music] workout [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] i thought i would hold up on the runs a little bit better but i'm very happy with the overhead squats i thought they would be like max effort like contemplated breaking them up and rounds four and five sorry for being stalkers we're trying not to attempts as we want it takes out the factor of luck there's going to be someone that's an amazing gymnast great at handstands and they kick up and they happen to trip you know it's that one in the millionth time and then there's going to be the person that bat a handstand and they just happen to have the best hold of their life on their first attempt so i like that we have a 20 minute window to take as many attempts as we want it's a lot physically harder than like i thought there would be no muscle fatigue at all it's like i hit the minute by marking just your triceps start trembling [Applause] this is it what we do now on the seventh one is what we care about how we execute the finished one we got so we got two hours to do this so just get yourself ready you know you did phenomenal right right you bring your expectations yeah i know i know it sucks but that's what it is play with what we got i said i was like like singles on the first couple rounds she was like no i'm going i'm joking the female weight it sounds like hey i didn't say that i'm so good i did not say that it's my australian accent i just i kept asking o'keefe all of these questions like how do you think he's doing it is he going too fast it's too slow does he look okay and then i was like i don't know why i'm asking i'm just nervous and i walked away oh hey people all right energy is high uh only one left to go though you know final countdown okay so this morning's events they crushed naughty nancy now we're going to go inside and we do the handstand hold in the handstand hold no one knows what to expect on that workout yeah matt was like a minute and a half he's 90 seconds 90 i think 138 ish tia is like one something-ish 119. 118. um and i think both of them are like kind of disappointed because they just don't know like i think they were thinking they get like two minutes but just you don't know when that workout that's a tough one so the last one right here what do you know about awful annie huh i like this workout yeah some sort of a schoolyard rope that they brought out yeah you got a schoolyard drag rope and they're gonna do some ghd sit-ups some good yeah that rope reminds me of the book fair yeah like a scholastic book fair jump rope all right one more let's go one shot one opportunity you gotta want it go out there do your best yeah gotta want it execute execute get the angles make the buttery we're fired up i just had a rant like i got a lot of energy a lot of cats is that your second ring was my first you know one this morning no okay i made you have one and then i like held back like an adult yeah you got taste buds of the kids though yeah the flavor i had was carnival candy hi honey ten minutes four day vacation maddie crazy about to hit final word he's getting in the zone back there back here yeah man it's like watching a lion tiger in the cage or a panther or a jaguar trying to attack my son maverick is my son most days when i go in the gym i want i want to create an incredible story for myself i want to have a great story that i can tell my kids my grandkids you know i want to be known as just this dominant force that if if i'm signing up you're fine [Applause] [Music] you know a 185 for me that's a very comfortable weight and shane told me break up the first couple of sets and then go unbroken from your three two ones i was like are we here to win or we're here to just you know play around [Music] across the game's over how do you feel these crossfit games aren't over there are they're yet to come but i feel good right where i need to be a lot of learnings and takeaways from this weekend which is great and uh you know it's it's just that extra motivation getting back into training so okay i thought you stepped in and walked away i'm done done baby oh what a relief yeah i bet oh man a couple days off now felt really good um i'm through the roof that i was able to do all the ghds unbroken like that that was big for me you know i didn't i didn't trip up on my double unders every set i think i had one trip up maybe two and i felt like i kept a good pace good pace on the cleans really happy power cleans is something we've been working on a ton like years past i would have had to squat clean that at the end but so being able to power clean that was a big relief thank you so now you got to just wait a little bit and then they'll have the scores and yeah we'll see who knows i mean who knows my season might be over man i might have more than a four day vacation oh hey good job man thanks man what did you say what do you think of that boy oh my god he's amazing right yeah what do you think i mean he's the best yeah seriously yeah make sure you're hitting the knot we did it we did nothing we did nothing where are you being you kept complaining pretty solidly in second place i got first place on nasty nancy and i got second place in the handstand [Music] [Laughter] that is amazing noah got like a fun kid he's got a mullet yeah he's got a mullet how can you not like he likes to party yeah so i'd say it's safe to say that he won right i think mathematically i have yeah yes stack of dairy i hope i hope the time i put up on that ghd thing was good i mean i'm proud of those results yeah like for my fitness and my strength and weaknesses i crushed that workout man okay justin medeiros my dark horse he's got a mullet um as it says as opposed to that otherwise is it safe to say the villain there's not gonna go to the games no that's safe to say but it's not the way it's good for the
