Hey hey hey! Welcome back to our hungry adventures! Hungry adventures in Thailand! Yeah this is Bangkok 2021! And some of you guys asked me.. Mickey, how much money do you spend for your life in Bangkok? What are your expenses? What is the cost of living in Bangkok? So I've decided to make a special video.. And invite you to spend this money together with me.. and cover all of the living expenses in Bangkok.. So as always - if you've got some time and empty space in your stomach.. and you are ready to waste your precious time together with me.. while I am spending my money.. then join me in this hungry adventure! Let's go! Yeah guys, today we start in Huai Khwang district.. Because here in Huai Khwang is located my favorite hair salon.. where I get haircut for 100 Baht.. There are many different kinds of salons in Bangkok.. You can get haircut for 1000 Baht (for men).. you can get haircut for 60 Baht.. it all depends on the style of salon, hygiene, air conditioning.. But usually you get pretty the same product.. The only advice I might give to you - Just try and try different salons.. until you will find a master, a man who can cut your hair properly.. who understand the shape of your head.. and stick to this place! that's what i did, because I've been visiting this salon for about 2 years.. Yeah it's right here, probably 200 meters from Huai Khwang MRT station.. and now I am about to visit the same salon again.. One time a month i think.. Yeah I am having new haircut every 3-4 weeks.. Let's go and get another one! This place always has got customers.. so we need to wait.. for 10 minutes maybe.. I want to trim here a bit, here a bit.. here - just a little.. because here i like the most.. it's hot on sides.. here too.. Okay guys, this is it! What do you think about it? Just 100 Baht - 3.3 USD Okay we've done with hairstyle and now let's go to the next destination.. to the next stop.. where else we can spend my money.. Okay? Let's go! Too much.. too much for this time.. Yeah, if you wanna get some water - you can buy it in 7-Eleven.. a plastic bottle.. or you can save your previous one and buy a liter of water for 1 Baht.. How many liters of water are you drinking every day? I think I drink about 2 liters.. which means I spend 2 Baht for water everyday.. 2-3 baht.. 2-3 liters of water.. and using less of plastic.. okay, let's talk about my favorite - about the food.. because personally - probably as majority of Thai - I don't cook at home.. because it's more expensive.. you need more time.. and sometimes you're just lazy to cook.. you need to find time to go outside to buy ingredients.. in supermarket or in a market.. you increase expenses for electricity in your apartment.. which is also pretty important.. so it's much easier and convenient to buy food outside.. There are lots of delivery companies in Bangkok too.. so you don't even need to go outside.. you can get everything delivered to your apartment.. besides if you still wanna go outside.. you can find lots of markets, lots of shops, food stalls and so on.. you just need to walk during 30 seconds.. maybe even 10 seconds - and you will find food.. and especially I love eating at markets because food is cheap, tasty.. cheap.. tasty.. and portions are pretty big.. and now I am taking you to Suttisan MRT market.. where probably we can find almost everything.. let's go! Here is my favorite part of the market.. Because here you can buy noodles, buy rice.. vegetables and so on.. for example - chicken biryani.. Hello.. How much is the chicken biryani? 50 Baht! Can you serve on a plate, please? Sure, can! Is it tasty? Very delicious! 50 Baht.. Guys, this is khao mok gai.. or biryani rice with chicken.. this option cost 50 Baht.. But also it has got a soup and boiled egg.. so you see we've got 2 sources of protein here.. Egg and chicken.. because it's very important to have protein in your meal.. it makes you feel full much longer.. it's very important to eat less carbs and more protein.. at least in my case.. when you need a lot of energy.. and when you don't want to increase the size of your waist.. beautiful and also tasty.. rice, soup, chicken, egg.. I feel pretty full after this meal.. as iI told you - protein is important.. and now we can continue exploring Bangkok.. and i can continue.. explaining to you, telling to you about expenses you might have.. while visiting Bangkok in 2021.. You shall look here! Look where? Right here! Oh not at that side? There is a screen.. Okay guys, and now let's talk about transportation.. Because personally I find it pretty convenient here in Bangkok.. There are motorbike taxis, there are regular taxis.. There are Grab Taxi which are similar to Uber.. And you can use them all with an app in your phone.. Besides there is public transportation.. Which you can also use with an app in your phone.. but here you can track your way, or calculate how exactly you wanna travel.. for example - you need to put the name of the place where you want to go.. and pick "the use of public transportation".. and Google will tell you the exact route how you need to go.. the number of bus you need to use.. or even where you need to change the bus.. so it's pretty easy.. besides there is MRT and BTS.. the major kinds of transport here in Bangkok.. underground train and sky train, which are also pretty easy to use.. and they are not that expensive.. more expensive than buses but.. they are so fast! every time you need to buy a new ticket.. but i recommend to order these cards.. which you also can order at cashier at every MRT or BTS station.. one for MRT, one for BTS.. so these cards.. you just need to refill the balance.. to top up the balance.. and then every time you don't need to wait for a long queue.. or look for coins.. you just need to scan your card - and you're free to go.. it's pretty easy.. so yeah we are living in a modern world.. and even using buses by foreigners is pretty normal.. before i've bought my motorcycle - i used to travel by bus.. I just picked a place I want to go.. in my Google map.. and it said - okay, you need to use this bus.. you need to change bus there or there.. pretty easy.. I am gonna show you right now.. This is it.. Google map app.. and now I am somewhere at Suttisan MRT station.. And i wanna go somewhere to Ratchada 32.. it shows me the way by bike.. but i choose public transportation.. and now i can see.. all buses i might use.. these are the buses.. and this is it - your route by bus.. you can see all the bus stations.. and the numbers of buses you can choose.. Here is the bus station.. Suttisan MRT.. So let's wait for the bus.. and take a ride.. Ratchada 32.. So yeah you simply need to say the street where you go.. or a place, like Big C for example.. Or Ratchada and the number of the street for example.. But usually the rates are the same if you are traveling inside the city.. yeah we are not broken.. okay, let's go! you see? We've arrived! Bye bye.. And this is it - Ratchada 32.. How much time did it take? 3-4 minutes probably.. pretty easy.. and the ticket.. and the ticket cost only 8 Baht.. 8 Baht - this is the cheapest bus.. red bus without air-conditioning.. and that's your final destination - Ratchada 32.. So yeah, in case you want a dessert - you always can find this.. Thailand.. you always can find this dessert - fruits.. fresh fruits.. 20 Baht for 1 bag, or 50 for 3 bags.. I decided to choose mango this time.. because it's one of my favorite.. I am trying to eat fruits everyday because.. fruits is a source of vitamins.. and if you eat a lot of street food, if you have an active lifestyle.. you need vitamins.. sometimes in pills, sometimes in fruits.. so yeah this is my kind of vitamins.. Do you drink coffee? Because i do - and usually at least 1-2 cups a day.. so we need to consider expenses for coffee too.. because if you prefer to drink coffee in Starbucks - you have to pay 100-150 Baht for a cup.. But if you prefer local style of coffee.. same as me.. then you can buy it much cheaper.. Hello! Do you have ancient coffee? I'd like one cup, please.. Cold coffee, not sweet.. Not sweet.. yeah.. How much for a cup? 20 Baht for a cup.. Thai style coffee is more tasty than Fresh coffee or than Nescafe.. I like Thai coffee the most! the most delicious! Thank you very much.. I don't need a bag, thank you.. so if you are a local in your soul.. then you can drink the same coffee.. because it's just fantastic.. "Ancient" coffee.. the best coffee.. better than fresh coffee, better than Starbucks coffee.. this one is just 20 Baht.. Huge cup - 20 Baht.. you can buy 5 cups of this coffee instead of 1 in Starbucks.. I love it.. there are different kinds of buses.. there are buses with air-conditioning.. with closed windows.. 13, 15, 17 Baht.. (0.5 USD) but this one is the cheapest.. obviously.. you can see there is nothing inside.. Hey crocodile! Where are you going, crocodile? yeah guys, another item of our expenses.. which we can call relaxation.. or maintaining your body shape.. or taking care of your health.. is visiting parks.. and this is Lumpini park.. Oh no.. this is Chatuchak park.. it's less known, less popular than Lumpini park.. which probably everybody in the world knows.. nevertheless it has got so many different playgrounds, running tracks, cycling tracks and so on.. and almost everything here is free.. there is a gym - you need to pay about 20 Baht to visit it.. but nevertheless everything is free here.. i believe so.. and as a Bangkoker.. as a person living in Bangkok.. you are worrying about.. the air for example.. about staying healthy.. that's why parks are very important for everyone who lives in a big city.. and that's why i brought you here.. besides.. I am a Ladprao guy, so for me this park is much closer than Lumpini park.. so here i am.. let's see what we can find here.. Hello! How much is one day here? How much for 1 day? 20 Baht.. what time do you close? 9 pm.. Can i take a look? So yeah guys, 20 baht and you can do everything you want here.. to use all machines, to use all dumbbells, barbells and so on.. and this place is being closed at 9pm.. as you see they've got a lot of stuff here.. but foreigners are not regular visitors here.. because usually foreigners stay in condos with gyms and swimming pools.. so it's pretty rare thing to see a foreigner in this kind of gyms.. mostly they are for Thai who stays in houses and apartments without gyms.. Isan dance.. Isan dance, right? This place is called - Butterfly Wonderland.. I've never heard about it before.. I've discovered it just now.. together with you.. and i don't know.. seems like it's free to enter.. Nobody is asking you to pay a fee.. And yeah.. really.. check out how many butterflies are here! perhaps you can't see them well because I am using wide lens now.. but just take a look at this blossom of banana.. how huge this banana flower is.. this is my hand.. and my hand is pretty big to be honest.. something incredible, you see? there are many places you can visit even for free.. pineapples and some sweets in these pink bags.. Guys, and another thing which i find pretty important in modern times.. it's called internet.. so I've got free Wi-Fi in my apartment.. I've got personal router for free.. which is included in my monthly rent.. However before that, when i used to live in another apartment, in another condo.. I've signed a contract for 12 month (for 1 year).. And I've paid 320 Baht every month.. For really great high-speed internet.. For example for mobile phone internet - you can also buy packages.. Like a 30 days package (package for 1 month).. And the price will be around 450 - 350 Baht.. depending on the speed.. So this speed will be pretty normal for watching videos online.. for watching me on YouTube for example.. for using your email and everything else you might needed.. so yeah approximately about 450 - 350 Baht for mobile internet.. unlimited package by the way.. and you are probably wondering.. Mickey, why haven't you told us anything about condos? about expenses for rent.. Guys, there is a reason why i haven't told you anything yet.. because i wanna make special video answering the most common questions.. about renting condo here in Bangkok.. because condos are so different.. there are so many types of condo in Bangkok.. different styles.. and also the price depends on the location.. so i really wanna make 2-3 videos.. with condo tours.. special for you.. that is the reason why in this particular video i am not talking about accommodation.. i hope you can understand.. because i wanna make something special for you.. as always.. Man, this park is so huge! i think i gotta go back to the parking.. and move to our next station.. a lot of fresh air today.. okay, another item of your expenses.. laundry.. yeah i am a guy who does own laundry.. and usually in Thailand in condos you can find washing machines at the basement.. coin washing machines.. you need to put 30-40 baht inside the washing machine.. put detergent and softener inside.. and then wait for an hour and hang clothes on your balcony.. but since recent times.. there are this kind of shops.. which are laundry shops.. with many powerful washing machines, with hot water.. and with drying machines.. so even if you don't have a balcony.. or you don't have a space on the balcony to hang everything.. to hang your clothes.. you can do everything at one time in this kind of shops.. so today together with you I am gonna clean my dirty laundry.. my bed sheets, my pillow cases and so on.. and then probably we will be having dinner right here.. okay, let's try.. these are drying machines.. but here on another side there are washing machines.. as you see they have got different sizes - 17kg, 13kg, 10kg.. Hello! Where are you from? From Sabai Jai Street.. Bangkoker, right? Me too! Where are you from? I am from Russia.. Speak Thai very good! So these are the smallest, and then - 13 kg and 17kg.. in case you don't have coins - you can exchange it here.. and maybe.. yeah they sell detergent and softener here for 5 Baht (0.17USD).. pretty cheap.. but i've got my own stuff.. my dirty pillow cases, my dirty bed sheets.. detergent which is about 80 Baht.. this one is enough for 1 month.. and softener - about 40-30 Baht.. It's not original pack.. Yeah it looks a bit weird.. but it's not a yoghurt.. And these are the prices for the laundry itself.. if i want to use cold water in small washing machine - it will cost 40 Baht.. in warm water - 50, in hot water - 60 Baht.. and prices are increasing accordingly to the size of washing machine.. 28 minutes.. okay, now we've got 28 minutes to wait.. and then we can come back, take it out and put it in a dryer.. so even tonight i will be able to use the same bed sheets and same blankets again.. which is great.. because during this season, during hot season - it's pretty fine to hang it outside.. but sometimes.. with this air pollution.. you might think twice.. and also another thing.. during the rainy season - when it's raining at least once a day, sometimes twice a day.. you are really worrying about getting your clothes dry.. that's why these dryers are a great way out.. okay.. 28 minutes.. you know, i got to be honest - i don't eat Pad Thai everyday.. To be honest I can't even remember when was the last time I've eaten Pad Thai.. not bad.. not bad at all.. it's not extremely fantastic.. but pretty nice.. unusual taste.. and very hot.. if there is a 7-Eleven - there is always a dog.. are you working here? are you working here? Leo beer cost almost 60 Baht, Chang beer - 56.. 2 USD for a bottle.. Heineken - 72 Baht.. but probably it's local manufactory, local production.. wow.. that's a great deal! 130 Baht.. Do you want a bag? No, thank you And now you probably wanna write in the comments - Mickey how can you eat 2 dishes with noodles at the same time? But they are pretty small and i am pretty big guy.. and another thing.. i just still feel hungry.. because the first dish were noodles with 2 shrimps.. and i need a little bit more protein.. that's why I've ordered noodles with beef.. with beef and beef meatballs.. besides i have just bought 2 bottles of beer.. how can i walk somewhere else? i can even forget about my laundry.. do you understand me? okay i don't wanna show it on camera.. i don't wanna my video to get 18+ label.. that's why i will be drinking tea with you.. with ice.. because it's a tradition in Thailand to drink beer with ice.. i am not joking.. it's good.. it's really good guys.. What is your favorite beer? in Thailand.. Because mine is Leo.. and yours? I think i've covered all expenses.. if you've got any questions - you can write them in the comments.. if you want me to tell you about something else, regarding to living in Bangkok - please write me in the comments.. i am always open for new ideas.. i really hope you have enjoyed this video.. this explanation of basic expenses of living in Bangkok.. hit the like button if you have enjoyed it.. hit the like button if you wanna visit Bangkok this year.. share this video with your friends, subscribe to this channel if you aren't already.. and i'll see you in the next video pretty soon.. probably this weekend.. because now i am gonna finish the meal.. finish my drink.. pick up my clothes.. i even forgot that i need to dry it.. anyway.. i'll see you in the next video pretty soon.. bye bye!
