remember stumbling upon this small channel that was trying to figure out what the seed to pewdiepie's minecraft world was for those who don't play the game every minecraft world has a so-called seed which is represented by a string of numbers that generates a specific version from an almost infinite amount of random possible environments there's 18 quintillion possible seeds in minecraft so to find the one that pewdiepie was playing on without any direct means of identifying it not only seemed impossible but it was something nobody else had even thought of trying and here was this random guy that no more than a handful of people had heard of cracking the code and successfully finding the pewdiepie seed i remember watching this video last year going huh that was kind of cool and then moving on with my life to all of a sudden a year later see his social blade completely blow up in what has to be one of the fastest growths in youtube history after doing several videos on the pewdiepie topic and gaining a bit of momentum dreams switched gears and went into an entirely different direction he started a new series that he called minecraft unsolved analyzing various mysteries within the minecraft community the editing the writing the use of music all of that coupled with an original approach to talking about certain minecraft related topics not a lot of people were talking about made this series a huge success and spawned a sizable number of copycats using the same formula already we see dream's strategy in action by not sticking to one particular topic for too long he could have easily fallen in the trap of talking about pewdiepie in every video continuing to siphon viewers from his audience in subreddit but failing to convert them into fans of his own by switching to a different type of content still under the minecraft umbrella but different enough to showcase versatility he was using the foundation of the 50 000 or so pewdiepie fans who had just discovered him and building something new on top of that and before people even got a chance to get tired of the unsolved format dream switched it up yet again by alternating with a new series called minecraft another thing that contributed to dream's success the chemistry he had with his friends george not found as well as later on with snap nap or bad boy halo the way he shared his success with his peers bringing them up along with him strengthened not just dreams brand but that of his entire squad and from there on out all they had to do was to keep putting out content to meet the huge demand they had created in the youtube [Music] algorithm in november of 2019 as he was approaching 1 million subscribers dream tweeted out the following i told my sister four months ago that this time i was ready and i was going to blow up i bet my friends i would hit 300 000 before a year this was when i had 1 000 subscribers i worked my act off learning about youtube and the algorithm i studied youtubers i made a plan i studied reddit so we see evidence of the fact that dream knew what he was doing all along and mind you this tweet was written when he had just 10 of the visibility he has now the way he continued to build on that momentum only strengthens the idea that it was not an accident when someone challenged his tweet questioning whether it was about hard work or just plain luck dream responded with everything takes a bit of luck although the famous saying is luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity some people can put themselves in positions to be luckier than others and that's where the secret lies of course dream isn't the first nor the last person to experience this type of rapid rise to fame but i think his is a perfect example of the so-called secret to success that we can dissect and learn from as he pointed out luck can be found at the intersection where opportunity meets preparation to better illustrate that think of a train station where there is no schedule trains just happen to come and go at random intervals and there's all kinds of people waiting around to catch one everybody wants to get on the train of opportunity but nobody knows when or how to get on it since the train arrives unannounced most people will either be sleeping in the waiting area some won't have had their ticket ready some maybe are going through their luggage to find their nintendo switch with all their things scattered all over the ground so when the train finally arrives and it's time to get on board neither of them makes it in time the train leaves so they go back to the waiting area hoping to ah maybe catch the next one the people who are most often called lucky for achieving something are the people who have their luggage ready their ticket at hand and are patiently waiting on the platform with their eyes wide open so that they don't miss the train because they know it's not going to wait for them for long to put that in more practical terms if we're talking about youtube the train is your first viral video by studying the minecraft community dream knew what type of content to make in order to maximize his chances of blowing up but that's not even the full extent of it blowing up is one thing sustaining that and knowing how to navigate the wave knowing how to jump from one train to another if you will that's a whole other thing and one aspect i haven't really heard anyone talk about by the way is that when looking at a case of insane growth like dream has had the effects of that have to be crushing dream may well have cracked the code and he's currently reaping the benefits of his hard work but no human brain is built to handle that type of shift in such a short amount of time so while everyone is praising dream and standing him and whatnot i also hope that he has a solid foundation to keep himself grounded because if anything that is probably the most important element of the equation if success is about preparation for opportunity longevity is about slowing down sometimes and having people around who you can count on a good support group helps but ultimately it's up to every individual on a personal level to take care of themselves and keep a healthy balance between career and personal life so i guess the moral of the story here really is if you want to break through in a particular industry or you want to make it big on youtube or accomplish anything at all the key is to always study those who have done it before persevere even in the absence of any kind of results and know that luck may be a part of it but more often than not it's getting prepared ahead of time for an eventual opportunity it's that combination that increases the so-called luck beyond what you would normally imagine and above all
