How Barry Keoghan Really Feels About His ‘Sex Symbol' Status After Saltburn (Exclusive)

I'd be remiss if I did not congratulate you on the massive success of saltor everybody is talking about this film I love seeing the smile on your face and of course now you know you're you're being pegged as this sex symbol what do you make of all what do you make of all that attention um yeah it's uh it's definitely it's it's new I was honest with him I understood him I loved him I loved him I Lov but was I in love with him I've not been in this position before but it's nice to kind of go from that to this and you know and to show that range as well um you know the reaction is just being like just unreal um it's done wonders it really has and but again they're they're the kind of movies I want to be a part of and the ones that stick around you ask questions about and you know definitely leave a prce yes it has left to Mark I mean have you seen the Jacob a lordy bathwater can do have you seen that have a few of them you have okay I hand GI this kind stop it you're handing them out as guests no I don't I don't and it's a no it's crazy but yeah it's it's talk am my you know think to the internet you said the range I mean truly congratulations my God what a performance what do you make of this guy as the sex symbol now I mean Barry's awesome man Barry say Barry he's he's a great lad but also so just like I mean I I'm a big fan of salurn and and all the work that you do so it's been a pleasure to be able to work alongside him and now you've acted with two actors Austin and Jacob who have played Elvis are you next are you in we saw those dance I know Elvis let me tell you I can't step up after those two and but yeah it's uh that is a coincidence all than we do day in day out does something to a guy doesn't it we here to fight the monsters the things these people are capable of they got it coming trust me congrats to you guys on this series I love this Duo but I love this whole brotherhood with the cast you guys are both nodding your heads how much did it feel kind of like a fraternity with that Brotherhood on set there's a lot of guys stacked in this cast 100% but we don't get the fraternity thing at home doing yeah I guess I mean like what you said a few times is very true that it almost felt like summer camp at time like kind of getting all the guys together and and getting the uniforms and being around the the different sets and locations and being in character from from an early day everyone bonded super yeah it was um you know and and I touched on you say it's h it's also a nice you know opportunity to see what new actors and and and younger actors are bringing to the table and I'm always inquisitive and and curious to see why they made certain choices and um and different styles you know clashing and combining and um you know it's a big learning learning process to learn from each other yeah and it was really beautiful to see like obviously such a big cast and some like really really big established names and and like Barry said people coming like fresh out of uh theater school or or like uh one of their kind of uh early jobs like for me it was the biggest experience and best opportunity I've ever really had I can kind of go the other way when you've got a group of lads like that together and you know it's a recipe for disaster as well but you can kind of you know people can have a you know a guard up and not want to show you know vulnerability and you know you want to kind of protect yourself but I felt like this was very um it was like a there was a license to to go for it you know what I mean and really you know drive that emotional story forward and yeah it was have the support from each other definitely I think coming out of CO as well like kind of being very fresh in the pandemic for us all to be working on set and just that kind of eagerness to get back to work and and and then also the the fact that it was a Spielberg and a Hanks and oh my gosh everything attached it just like that excitement and that like everyone was just ready to kind of give it give it that rule with it being that Brotherhood that what kind of trouble did y'all get into the Antics their lips were sealed and I'm not buying it you even have a little smile on your face did y'all get into any type of trouble any pranks against each other any fun like any onset moments you know we had um there was that kind of militant you know and there was that energy there and you know people were pretty well behaved like you know you got Captain daleo there who you know if you wear your hat the wrong way I mean you you're being told off and presss kind of from day one I remember I cracked the joke to him I said something and uh he just didn't laugh and I was like you're like all right that's enough Co yeah I'll fix my sorry sorry everyone was on their best behavior yeah you had to be and it was you know what it worked for it and but we had our moments where we were playing playing card games playing games there was a good amount of banter on set as well and I think there was definitely like a balance between like having a laugh and and like getting on as as mates and Lads but also professional being professional and also the the story and and we're in that kind of Army Air Force mentality as well so you kind of got to keep that within you at times as well but there was there was definitely like uh weeks where where we had a bit of time of filming and we spent time together go go to the pub with the boys and had some fun times in Oxford as well there was there was definitely like we definitely had some suay Ro here and there did you teach Austin how to box I did yeah he couldn't box for for anything like you know mean now we got to get him in the ring huh no he could he was actually pretty good Austin but we uh in in and out takes me be Boxing Around the trailers and you know it's just it was proper Brotherhood it was it was absolutely lovely and you know um yeah it was just gorgeous it was gorgeous and I think from the boot camp and and just like the feeling on set even if someone was in for one day or you didn't see someone for a couple of months like even the other day at the premiere seeing some of the guys who haven't seen in a couple years straight away it's like like yesterday you know everyone was really happy to see each everyone's got taller as well just remains small I'm say wow you are all getting really tall but you stop growing at 18 is that not a thing Lord guard and guide The Men Who fly through the great spaces of the sky what about the cockpit competitions who could get in the cockpit the fast Austin allegedly won by seconds were you guys okay okay did Austin tell you that that that's yes the impressive of someone else told you that but when it comes from him it's like it was all said it was point8 seconds but then Callum said it was 3 seconds then Austin was just like I'm going to take the win here so this is getting from what the from the hard stand into the cockpit seconds is pretty fast no no no like he won you're not teleporting here that's even more impressive winning by 8 seconds yeah were you a part of these competitions or was it just Austin and in that moment no I let them all do that you know me I didn't want to cuz you already cracked a joke and got in trouble and you said I'm going to stay out St the captain look they're playing games I'm not do you know what I mean start telling on [Music] everybody
