How Bad is Lance Stroll Really?

I was browsing Twitter the other day when I came across a post that says that ason Martin is very likely to keep L strol as Honda moves into the back of the car in 26 stating that his technical feedback is really valuable now I don't know what he does behind the scenes what his simulator work looks like and what he actually provides to the team in terms of setups and whatnot but I do know that technical feedback needs to come from a place in reality and the reality is is that stroll has been racing in Formula 1 for 8 years now and he's only gone backwards despite having a couple of good results over his long career yes 8 years is a massive amount of time in Formula 1 especially for someone that's underperforming every year his good showings are drowned by an ocean of poor performances the fact of the matter is that if his dad does not own or heavily invest in the teams that L races for he would have been sacked a long time ago you are simply delusional if you think that this would not have been the case had his dad not been so involved in his career the idea that the team and even some fans can defend this driver's poor performance is a mind-boggling to me it's like they forget what he does every race and only remembers the highlights from past Seasons sort of like another driver currently so let's take a look at strolls career as a whole and see for ourselves how this technical feedback genius has performed over the years stroll debuts in 2017 alongside Felipe Masa in Williams at the time Williams was still a Midfield team and could race other cars because of the fact that they had a Mercedes engine in the back they finished P5 in the constructors same as in 2016 the year before stroll finishes the season in p12 with 40 points three points behind his teammates which is a really good result for first year that's Felipe Massa a podium in back and a couple of Point finishes five total dnfs in 2018 stroll raced with Sergey serotkin and beat him with six points to one two points finishes and three dnfs Williams was really bad this season and their lackluster Arrow package was finally beginning to show they finished 10th place above the rebranded force India that became raising Point midseason stroll finished p18 with his teammate in P20 in 2019 stroll made a move to the new racing point after his dad bought the team now driving alongside Sergio Paris who beat stroll with 52 points to 21 stroll managed to get P4 in the chaotic race in haenim that year the best result for the team that year but overall he was outperformed by Paris by some margin Stoll finished p15 with Paris in P10 the team finished seventh place in the constructors in 2020 racing Point rocked up to the first race with the infamous pink Mercedes a car that looked like an exact copy of the title winning Mercedes of 2019 and to No Surprise stroll had his best scoring season with 75 points he was still racing with Paris and managed to secure pole position in the reign in Turkey he finished P9 in that race but he managed to get two podiums and a couple of really good points scoring finishes over the year his teammate on the other hand managed to get two podiums one of them was a win in Sak an overall outperformed stroll by an even bigger margin than ever before Stoll finished P1 in a race winning car with 75 points Paris finishes P4 with 125 points simply being best of the rest in 2021 the team rebranded to Aston Martin and Sergio perz moved to Red Bull and in comes four-time world champion Sebastian vettle head tohe headwise this was probably str's best season simply because of the caliber of his teammate stroll still lost out with 34 points to vle 43 but Seb managed to get a podium in Baku with a really strong performance and a podium in Hungary but was later disqualified for a fuel issue in that race stroll had very poor qualifying but would often put on the hard tires from the back and get lowc scoring positions racing from the back with a tire offset something he got quite good at I must say three dnfs over the entire season Aston finishes seventh in the constructors in 2022 stroll and vettle stayed in Aston Martin and once again stroll lost out to his teammate This Time by a bigger margin than before Stoll finishes p15 with 18 points vle finishes p12 with 37 points despite the car's poor performance stroll had a couple of Point finishes and a few p11s they finished seventh place in the constructors and vettle retired after the season stroll had three total dnfs that year 2023 comes around and incomes 42-year-old two-time world champion Fernando Alonso this was also going to be stoll's worst performing year in comparison to his teammate he was absolutely destroyed right off the bat Aston Martin had the second best car at the start of the season and the only driver that was close to challenging Max for Sten was Alonso six podiums in the first eight races for Alonzo stroll only managed one p for placement and barely managed to score points in a car that was fighting for pod teams with McLaren Mercedes and Ferrari in the end Stoll managed to secure 74 points in 2023 one less Point than 2020 with a much better car but Fernando managed to score 206 points with eight total podiums that year Aston finishes fifth in the constructors after the other teams outd develop them in the second half of the championship if stroll had performed even close to Fernando at the start they could have very easily secured second or third place 4 d NFS for stroll over the year 2024 is only four races deep but he has managed to score twice and crash once but we won't count these results until the season is over just to get a better view so in total stroll has scored 268 points over 8 years his teammates have scored 507 points stroll is 1 to7 in head-to-head with his only win over sirotkin in 2018 stroll has 149 Grand priest to his name in 26 in race dnfs due to crashes and failures 177% of his total races have ended in dnfs that is absurd overall this career is a joke he's only here as a pay driver he has no real Merit people can say yes he's a Formula 3 Champion whatnot but it doesn't matter there are plenty of Formula 3 and formula 2 drivers that could not cut it in Formula 1 he's only here because his dad owns the team I know it's sounds harsh to say that but when he is presented by the team and the media as someone really valuable to Formula 1 then you have to shoot those ideas down with facts because it's clearly not true the statistics speak for themselves stroll has always had a capable car except for 2018 his teammates have always managed to score good results there are no excuses when one car is competing for podiums and you and the other cars exit in q1 and race with formula B all year long then your technical feedback is not worth so let's cut the and just say it as it is don't make a mockery out of the sport for one guy let me know what you think of stroll as a driver am I being too harsh in my assessment or does he actually belong here in Formula 1 thank you all for watching and goodbye
