good saturday morning i'm your khou meteorologist kim castro are you getting ready for the rodeo parade well i'm going to stop you right there you're going to want to pay attention to this forecast it might change what you are wearing we are still very chilly waking up this morning 41 degrees right now bush intercontinental airport yes a smidge warmer than where we were yesterday up by three degrees but conditions are pretty much the same we're going to see that repetition weather pattern for today that means cloudy on the dreary side on the misty sprinkly and even rainy side as we head into this afternoon and into this evening right now wind is out of the north northeast at 12 miles an hour and you'll see how that's making it feel even colder area-wide temperatures we're waking up in the low 40s upper 30s most spots 39 degrees in huntsville same deal for conroe brenham columbus a degree cooler there a little bit warmer by the island 46 degrees 41 in pearland right now same deal for hobby angleton you're waking up to 43. that's the warmer spot for you sugarland here at 43 as well let's talk about how even the lightest breeze right now most spots wind is at to 5-10 miles an hour a couple areas getting close to 15 miles an hour right now the breeze in sugar land and hobby is at 13 miles an hour right at the eight o'clock hour and that is making it feel like the 30s area wide look at that feels like 34 degrees right now in brenham and in bush columbus you're getting close to that freezing mark feels like 33 degrees for you out the door this morning feels like 33 plashes so you might be heading out the door very soon maybe getting a cup of coffee before that parade starts at 10 o'clock in the morning so my best advice for you like we have been seeing the last couple of days you're going to really want to bundle up you could still well wear your rodeo best but i would just say a heavy coat on top is going to work wonders for you because that chill out there it is still here and it certainly feels uh not the most pleasant so i would just say make sure you are wearing some layers and with those layers you're going to want to wear some protective gear too in terms of the rain we're going to see those rain chances kind of ramp up a little bit for this afternoon 36 is what it feels like right now in angleton so satellite and radar this is a three-hour loop so what we've been seeing this morning very thick cloud deck so that's really not budging the temperatures we're going to see them stay in the 40s throughout the morning throughout the day so what i've been saying the last couple of days is well at least it's a consistent forecast you know what to expect you know it's going to be cold you know it's going to be damp and you know throughout the day you might run into one of these spotty showers a better chance comes in this afternoon they'll become a little bit more widespread scattered showers what i mean by that is that most of the viewing area will start to see spotty showers on and off throughout the afternoon and throughout the evening and i'll walk you through that on futurecast for right now spotty showers in spring tomball cypress kind of on the outer edge of the viewing area a couple of sprinkles and even some mist getting into the city center for right now and this is how the day will progress so we'll see those sprinkles spotty showers the mist lasts until about the noon hour temperatures there in the low 40s trying to creep into the mid 40s we're going to top off in the upper 40s momentarily we'll just briefly get up there and then stay in the mid 40s really throughout the majority of the day but look at what happens to the rain so really starts to ramp up now we got a 40 chance that means 40 of the viewing area will start to see those spotty showers and instead of sprinkles they'll start to transition into some light rain and then some decent rain come this evening so eight o'clock we'll be at 43 degrees still holding on to that very thick cloud deck now 40 chance to see some shower activity future track 10 o'clock in the morning start of the parade where is the shower activity well it's pushing through katie through sugarland trying to get into the loop there and it is going to start to make its way there as the parade is underway so that's the noon hour we'll see those spotty showers kind of push through from the south making its way to the northeast so south from pushing from west to east and we'll see that kind of remain there in college station in brenham the rain is really going to favor the western edge of the viewing area western and northern edge i should say and then as it's moving through we could see a couple of rumbles of thunder potentially some of those showers becoming a little bit more moderate as we head throughout the day rather than light so it'll definitely be the better rain chance that we've been seeing throughout the week i know much of the week has felt very groundhog day-esque it's been really misty cloudy and and today we'll really see some of those showers being rung out the difference between today and the last few days is that we actually have a coastal low so an energy that's pushing through the areas organizing this rain a little bit better the weather pattern the last few days of getting this northerly wind beating up with this moisture from the south and that's just kind of giving us this persistent dreary type of forecast now some of that rain is going to ramp up a little bit because we do have a low pressure area moving through so that's going to bring us some more widespread shower activity come the four o'clock hour into the evening you'll continue to see those darker greens meaning some light to moderate rain and then it really doesn't taper until sunday morning so that's a snapshot there at seven o'clock but look at what's happening after that i'm bringing you some better news we are gonna start to see a nice clearing so for today temperatures are going to stay in the 40s throughout the day okay we're going to see the better chance for wet weather in the seven day forecast so once we get through today we're going to start to see improvements in fact already seeing temperature improvements as we head into our sunday once those rain showers wrap up in the early morning we're going to stay cloudy but at least temperatures start to bump up a little bit we will certainly see them accelerate as we head into monday the warm-up will be in full swing and hey finally we are going to see the sunshine and some nice dry conditions so what is making that all possible so that low pressure area i was talking about is going to travel out of the way fairly quickly so sunday morning we're going to see that rain start to wrap up and what is lurking around the corner high pressure is going to build in from the west first as it moves in it is going to clear out our sky that's great because we're going to finally open the gates to that sunshine however as it clears out that sky we're also going to get fairly chilly for the morning so monday morning it's going to be a cool forecast we let go of that cloud cover that means we let go of the lid the warmth the blanket that's kind of been over us at least that helps trap some of that the lack of heat but at least some of the warmth we get during the day now that the cloud cover is gone we're gonna cool off quickly for monday but sunshine returns and especially as it pushes towards the east we'll start to see the return of some onshore flow and thus that sparks our nice warming trend as we head into the work week and really for the next six to ten days the outlook above normal conditions that includes us really all of the state of texas especially for the deep south and we are included in those temperatures that are going to be on the uptake so seven day forecast we do have to get through another chilly day for today and not the best news i know we have a lot of activities going on today but we've at least been conditioned to know what to expect so i know that you have kind of probably acclimated a little bit to withstand this cold and especially the rain so yes layer up if you have a rain jacket throw that on if you have i know we don't really want to rain boots to the rodeo but you might get those wet so just keep that in mind you want to bring an umbrella protect your hat that sort of thing sunday i think if you make it a late start to the day the rest of the day you should be free from rain although it's still going to be cloudy out there by monday sunshine returns start of the rodeo good opportune time to see the sunshine kick in and then we'll see those temperatures get into the 70s hey by friday we're looking at the mid 70s after that we'll start to bring back some of those very light spotty rain chances but we're going to get a good break from the rain a nice warm up with sunshine making an appearance yet again we just have to get through a little bit of a dreary misty cloudy rainy day today but just know a reward is on the horizon i will see you back here at nine o'clock we have got some fun coverage for you our brittany ford is at the parade with a preview it starts at 10 o'clock so we'll see you at nine if you are out and about and uh you want to keep up with us you can always
