hello everyone this is mavic and for today's video i'm gonna give you a quick tour of my houseplants [Music] so let's start in the living room this is our south facing window and in this corner we have three house plants and i'm sorry for the video quality because we are against the light so this is samyakalaka zamifolia this is native to sanzibar kenya and that is why this is also called zanzibar gem yes the name is so hard to pronounce so most people call this zz plant and in the philippines this is called the welcome plant theses are so easy to care for they have very glossy leaves and i come here sometimes to wipe some of the dust or water marks just to keep them shiny and look there is a new growth here so this really needs to be divided very soon because it is growing like crazy and it's starting to get overcrowded here all right so that is my zzz plant now let's take a look at my spider plant so this is also called chlorophytum chromosome and in the philippines i think we also call this airplane plant so we got this plant from a local grower back in march of this year and just look at how many babies it has right now i took some of the cuttings and propagated them but i think i have to do quite a few more because they're really getting big now especially this one so take a look at the roots of this baby all right so let's zoom in a little bit and ah there you go it looks really amazing right and it now has its own baby take a look here pretty cool so this is essentially the third generation baby so my spider plant just became a grandmom and spider plants are one of the easiest indoor plants to maintain they are also great air purifiers all right so this one is my every pranam orium or golden podos in the philippines this is also called money plant so this has variegated leaves and this is another house plant that is so easy to take care of another great air purifying plant and i got a few cuttings from this pot for propagation this is also one of the easiest plants to start propagating by cuttings and here are some of the cuttings that i'm propagating right now there's quite a few more around the house okay so this one is called dracaena fragrance but this is commonly known as corn plant in the philippines we call this fortune plant this is a little bit dry and needs to be watered and the leaves are turning brown and yellow too this plant is really thirsty all right we have to water this soon okay so this is just another golden pothos that i am propagating and um we are seeing some roots now cool okay so you're ready for this one this is miranta laconyara var dot dot dot i forgot the entire scientific name because it's very long but this is a prayer plant this is also called galithia and i think in the philippines this is just called prayer plant just like we do here and this has grown exponentially since we got it and started to flower now too these are known for their folding character you know the leaves of the prayer plants gradually rise and fall depending on the light condition and it folds up at night as if it is spraying hence it is called the prayer plant all right so the plant beside this is ficus elastica or rubber plant in the philippines we call this balete now this can grow really tall depending on light condition but we've placed this in a darker section of our house so it hasn't been growing as much we'd likely move this to a different location soon but we're starting to see some growth here and here as well and here too and these are limelight hydrangeas that we picked from the garden today okay so these gorgeous plants right here are monstera adan sonayani this is also called swiss cheese vine or little swiss i think we call this swiss plants in the philippines too but if that is not the case please let me know so this actually came from this mother plant i have a separate video on how i divided them so i'll post it soon and it looks like i have to divide them again um it seems to be outgrowing this pod so we could probably divide this into one two three four and um uh yeah five five five blends so we'll do that soon yeah just look at how pretty they are okay dukes oh and by the way these are my dogs these are moka yuki and milo okay so let's move on to our fire or foyer depends on how you call it okay so this is a pot of tradiscantia polita or purple queen this is a gift from an officemate and inside it is a spider plant which is another gift from a friend and this is called purple heart in the philippines and this was an office plan but because of the quarantine i had to get it from work and bring it home and it has just grown exponentially since i brought it home so this next plant is probably the most common houseplant this is dracaena trefaciata and this is commonly known as the snake plant because it resembles a snake and because i do not like snakes it took a lot of convincing before i agreed to get this plant in the philippines we also call this snake plant or mother-in-law's tongue and this plant came from that mother plant so let's go ahead and head there now so this is the west facing side of the house and in this corner we have two bigger plants so this mother snake plant has had quite a few babies before i think it had five or six babies and we gave some away and this has grown so much again since we've divided and repotted them but we'll hold off and repotting them again until next spring maybe they are loving the sunlight coming out from that window and then these ever popular monstera deliciosa this is also called mexican bread fruit or swiss cheese plant because of the holes on its leaves and in the philippines we call this thai constellation oh take a look at the monstera shadow it's so pretty so we bought this one sarah from lowe's yeah would you believe and this came with two other plants in a pot it came with the potos and the corn plant that i showed earlier it was selling for a very decent price and to get three plants in one pot you know i think it's a bonus so we've separated them into their own separate pots and all three plants have been thriving i should have divided this soon but it's late in the summer and i don't know if it's a good idea so i'd probably hold off until next spring but take a look at the number of new shoots and new leaves of this monstera plant and then this cheflera arboricola which is commonly known as the umbrella plant in the philippines this is also called five fingers or seven fingers depending on the number of leaves that it has now this has struggled over winter and i'm just glad that it's somehow recovering you know i've killed umbrella plants before now let's move on to our receiving area which we are now using as our office because we've been working from home since march like most of you so this is another pothos pot and this is a combination of golden pothos and marble pothos look at the variegation of these leaves very pretty so this is still the west facing side of the house and most of the plants that we have placed here are really thriving and we got this part from tj maxx in case you're interested okay so and on this side is this ficus lirata this is commonly known as fiddle leaf fig this has become an iconic plant too this along with monstera deliciosa and mostera adensoniae they have become social media darling so instagramable plants you know and i think we also call this fico sclerata or philip fig in the philippines no special name so we got this from a local grower and we thought that this was the mini version or the bambino version but i guess you know it's just loving this corner this is still on the west facing side of the house and it has grown significantly over the last few months it used to be on the south facing side of the house and it wasn't growing as much there and then i just have a couple more potholes that i am propagating here and um these are ready to be transplanted very soon so i'll probably do that tomorrow all right so that's it for the receiving area we have two more spots to go and then here in the laundry area we just have more purple queen and this purple queen just started to flower and the flowers are really beautiful and here is my skin dops's pictures also known as silver pothos it has heart-shaped leaves and the color of the leaves are dark green with splashes of silver and it has a satin feel to it this is so easy to take care of they'll tell you when they need to be watered and in the philippines we call this silver satin potos alright so and in this area are my succulents but i'm not gonna go through them one by one because there's quite a few of them i'll just create a separate video just for them but just above these succulents we are at our breakfast area now i have three more plants and this is my peperomia quadrangularis also known as betel peperomia i am not sure if this is what we call radiator plant in the philippines or if radiator plant is a general term for all pepperonis and this has a ton of flowers those little spikes are actually the flowers and this is my flipodium oreo or the blue star fern this is another popular house plant that is so easy to grow and i'm not a fan of fern but this captured my attention i really like its color and its texture and lastly here is my orba variegata or terra drop peperomia i have propagated this quite a few times and have filmed it so i'll be posting a separate video soon okay so let's move on to the last spot but um so yeah that is my back hair there all right so this is the last leg of our tour and this is basically my propagation area this is where i put all the cuttings that i'm propagating or the seeds that i am propagating this is an avocado seed that i started to propagate about maybe four months ago and it's just started to have leaves we have spider plants here we have peperomias we have succulents here is another avocado seed that is ready to be potted and then these spider plants that need to be potted too so we will do that tomorrow alright so that's it for today we have a few more houseplants that we put in our patio for now but i'll do a separate video for those thank you so much for watching and if you have any questions please put them in the comment box below and if you enjoyed this video i hope that you'd consider subscribing
