One of my favorite shows growing up!
Interestingly enough, Horatio Hornblower is how Gene Roddenberry envisioned the Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the Next Generation series.
When Patrick Steward was hired, Gene handed him a stack of Horatio Hornblower books and told him to study them since the essence of Jean-Luc Picard were within Horatio.
When you go back and watch ST: The Next Generation you can really see the influence in his character.
Loved this series years ago. He's a fuckup for the best of reasons in e01.
The writing is excellent. I do not say that lightly.

The writing is fantastic, and I'm not going to lie, when Ioan got his shirt off when I was a teenager, it was a happy moment for me. Not meaning to objectify, just that he is a beautiful man. He is a piece of artwork from like the Renaissance or something.
