A wild pig breed
from the species Porcine that
lives in Africa. Unlike domestic
pigs, these warthogs do not
spend their time in mud puddles. In the wild,
they must continuously be
on the lookout for predators. A
large male warthog weighs
about 300 pounds,a really
big one might scratch 350. A
large male Tiger, on the
other hand, can weigh more than
1,000 pounds. But size isn’t
everything; speed and
strength are important too. Unfortunately
for the warthog, tigers are among
the fastest, most powerful
land predators on Earth. When
faced with predators, the
warthog's best defense is to
dash away at full speed,
which is around 48 km per hour. It runs as fast
as a small horse, with its
tail sticking straight up in
the air. This
allows the warthog to
outrun and avoid being scratched
by most predators. However, most of
the time, this is insufficient. To get away from
predators, some warthogs have to
put in a lot of effort running. Two upper and
four to six lower incisors
are found in common warthogs. Desert warthogs,
on the other hand, lack
incisors. Upper
tusks can reach a length of 10
to 11 inches. Warthogs are
also very strong and intelligent
animals. Warthogs have
patches on their faces that
resemble warts but are actually
thick skin growths. When
they fight, these patches
act as padding. However, because
the padding is only owned by
adult warthogs, young warthogs
and juvenile warthogs are
easy prey for predators. The
African wild dog, also known
as the painted dog or Cape
hunting dog, is a sub-Saharan
African canine. It is a very
social creature. Males and
females live in separate packs
with separate dominance
hierarchies. Permanent packs
of two to 27 adults and
yearling pups live together. The African wild
dog hunts by approaching prey
silently and then chasing it
for 10 to 60 minutes at
speeds of up to 66 km/h. The
average chase only lasts 2 km,
during which time the prey
animal is still alive. Even
though they are smaller than
lions and leopards,
African wild dogs have a
higher success rate when it
comes to killing it.
