[HOONIGAN] Field Trip 008: Ken Block Gymkhana Testing CanAM X3 with Jason Ellis

[Applause] [Music] this day and age read in the newspaper all right so today we got something special for you guys another episode of field trip but we have a special guest a very very special guest h/h I see shrimp Allen himself [Music] I was sick hey Phil Radner the wall tap real different take the wheel dip I think we're okay with the wheel bit is this thing souped-up no no stock not yet I think we did some more horsepower my second handbrake in there you got a hamburger exclusive yeah thing is this thing weight transfer so easy anyway but it does this just makes it a little more precise when you really want to put it where you want to put it right right right so the reason why here today is because Ken installed this like a few weeks ago and we got the talking and Ken said I think I can actually make these can-am Gymkhana now so we're gonna do a few more mods to this to get this thing to actually perform the way we want it to and we're gonna head up to cable Airport and actually lay out a little Gymkhana course and test what this thing can actually do not only do I think the sink in Gymkhana but I think this would be a great suspect class like Gymkhana grid to where we could bring out more of our friends like Ellis and dyrdek and people like that and actually and let them come out and be able to easily have fun and compete and can aim is down so let's figure it out [Music] they'll be the only few you actually put the rear tire inside the door sill on that last one go look at the welcome mat and now has tire marks across inside the door so now as tire marks across it thanks again all right so we're off to uh plan Airport now go build a course well I missed out on all the fun stuff before but still want to go outside check out these cans because they have new hand brakes in them and that looks fun what's up guys what are you working on these are gonna be a part of a stage-four kit that we're putting on his machines Stage four kit what does that do should be just over a hundred and fifty-five oh wow so what does that consist of just new injectors more boost exhaust butch what do you got there [Music] badass so you guys said that you're changing out the wheels and I expected you guys keep putting on like all terrains or something like you do on you TVs but all I see is a bunch of Toyo are triple a DARS Kernighan racing division 1552 Toyo tarmac or make some stuff so we're here at cable airport we are going to set up a Gymkhana course for the can-am testing you know zero to sixty times not in breaking this is the biggest slide we got a typical figure eight with a fun gift of an obstacle from Toyo the plane planes always fun to go around and then we have a donut box and then 540 type things so trying to cover all the things that we normally put in the Gymkhana grid courses it's good good setup we fill in these things with water yeah of course make them real heavy when you hit it it breaks everything in pieces all right so the goal right now here in the real life and with like when we find an obstacle that's more interesting the camera optimal for entertainment Cairo we are back at cable airport day number two who got the track all set up for the can-am Kona and we're just waiting for Ken to get here BRB [Music] is it Brian's is it brian's doesn't fly what the did you just buy a plane yeah this is just another prop from one of the Jim kind of stunts that Ken's going to do that in the can-am stop boys time for some fun what kind of fun not that yesterday was this is a little different more scientific fun speaking of science both of these have what they called the banana team what do you know about the banana team oh I've known I've seen some very fun looking video of these things with a lot more what sounds like turbo noises and higher horsepower or compression that sort of stuff we requested that for this particular shoot so that I would have as much horsepower as possible yes our buddy Dustin Jones posted a video on Facebook and I was like check it out a new thing called banana tune and it was on his can he pulled out of the dyno tune just wheel spinning I was like whoa can we have that we sent our ECU's out to them and so ken has never driven the banana tune and it's also the first time he'll ever be driving it with tarmacs on it yeah so this is where it actually gets kind of serious so we have a course here as you can see [Music] we're actually here to test these things with actual tires that I use for Gymkhana but we're also gonna do it up against the typical ATV tires and rims - I'm pretty sure this set of coils wrapped around a pair of 1552 tarmacs is going to be quicker but that's why we're here this is science getting this set up everything dialed so that we can actually bring these kmx trees to a gym kind of grid event real quickly we we called cable a part where like Haven is set up of course you have a little place we can do this they're like yeah as long as you don't mind that there's an active runway they didn't say the runway was right there so don't hit a plane can [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] let's put the problem that's too is it's still heavy here so my Corrections are really slow the can actually has adjustable power steering you can change how heavy or how light it is so it was on the medium setting so we change that to max well let me just start playing in the course and we'll see you what all right so we're about to do some testing on the actual course Ken just did some donuts to get a feel for the Can Am with the banana toon experience a little heavy and weird with the wheel setup but he's gonna make it work do as many of these as we can to get a good quick one good quick run yeah so we're gonna run the real course now [Music] [Music] I really thought he was gonna hit me by a little bit pretty good little run from that was rad for a first run yeah I mean it's still a little like the steering's just heavy and it's a little bit just trying to figure that out what's gonna work yeah that's why we're here to try and Justin team [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] I can tell you right now like the breaking on this is really good a couple times because of the heavy steering like I'm coming out of that first corner I'm like I can't tell which way the wheels pointed so there's a little bit of a like I probably lose a half a second there trying to make sure the wheel straight and then getting my foot over to the brake feels good the setups rad we haven't done that much yeah it's a good time it looks like a lot of fun yeah that's a good time I'll try one a bit more aggressive this time and maybe we'll just be done with this and then go and try the [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] 5:02 45.02 for the minions you tense apart yeah that's the range you know I mean you're pretty consistent yeah sweet you wanna pull the other one in oh yeah [Music] all right so kid just finished testing the horse with the cannon pretty consistent times all the way around so now we put them on the off-road big knobby tires and we're gonna run it again back it up a little bit I just wanna I just want to show for the people at home one finger one figure already we're breaking we'll see it so how much slower do you think you'll be on these tires do some guesses Beauty riding a pretty much a 45 3 seconds 3 seconds 3 seconds slower on stock tires is it a straight-up burnout [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] forty-eight oh that's where he thought he was gonna be yeah hmm we like that that's good yeah so this thing in cable Airport come bring your helmet he has no idea what we're doing so we're just gonna put him in cold you wanna explain to him what we're done no I think we just wait till it rolls lessons there you looking for that's like you give me have to come forward to it these are the things that I live I'm 100 percent excited and zero percent understandable how the track goes my whole figure out which one you're gonna use takes a little bit of time to make a muscle memory all right flex it clicks [Music] my foots going to the floor yep that's what I thought Ellis came out tried to do some finger aids he got a couple of them and I can't was like no I'll just go out there do the full course cuz like yeah I'll just do the whole thing what's the worst that could happen well he actually trying at Jim cot yeah I always wanted to know what that thing didn't now you go in and they're those things and now I know no it's impossible hey lost right there's a blue blob and I would have been Ken Block you'd pull out the bastard still in there yeah so you're good now it works sort of I mean they're gonna try to do something out of metal but I honestly think thank you good bye and then it was on TV and I had to watch it that would kill me was that one of the fun of things you've ever done yeah yeah and I get to do a lot of fun stuff in my life so if I say that that was one of the most fun days of my life that says that you wish you were in this car it is the ultimate in joy I think it's over you just say it's over [Music] I thought you guys are gonna keep talking
