Honda S2000 Track Comparison - Which Suspension Is Best?

what's up guys we're here with Jason again the owner of the Red NSX that we drove here at Thunder Hill West last time he also owns or co-owns this silver ap2 S2000 nickname Stewie we're going to compare this against the other blue s2000 that he co-owns which is actually my friend's car that Jason purchased so tell me a little bit about this car 2006 uh it's got KW v3s we got a new set of re71 RS tires on it oisk ien limited slip diff slightly tuned aggressive for track hard dog roll bar the tillet seat uh you know kind of follow the formula for a track S2000 dude this seat is fantastic I'm sitting so low and it's like perfectly sculpted to my body size I'm almost tempted not to put the harnesses in cuz you're already so well situation honestly yeah all right well let's see what this thing can [Music] do [Music] [Music] sh [Music] [Music] [Music] this one isn't working woo my my foot completely came off the brake pedal oh my God that was so slippery sorry about that no worries should I just go in from here I guess so might as might as well uh yeah I guess so yeah it was moving I thought oh my gosh he's going to really he's going to really do it I got on the brakes and then literally right off the brakes I need some more aggressive shoes maybe cuz that it literally felt like I stepped on Ice you're were going good for a while there yeah yeah otherwise uh besides the pedal issue well the car itself is great these tires are like there's so much grip I've never this is I'm having trouble connecting to the network please try again a bit later thing H uh these tires are the grippiest 200 treadware I've ever tried yeah couldn't even get the car really to slide yeah it was sticky yeah the car has a lot more in it one thing I noticed is the suspension feels a little soft yeah the rear end I feel like needs a little bit more travel like it was hitting the bump stops a few times yeah I think you felt it in some of the higher speed Corners when I would hit the the BM it would kind of do a little extra bounce yeah well that was fun other than that little M thanks again Jason good times good times we're here with my friend Harry and this is his 07 ap2 S2000 tell me what you've done to this car okay well I know you're new to these cars so uh I bought probably one of the lowest mileage s2000s in the country wo 22k it was originally at 15,000 when I bought it in Colorado and I drove it home through several States and uh then proceeded to follow my friend Sean's formula okay uh so it has uh ol's TTX it has uh stop Tech really those are the main things uh some some other chassis stiffening stuff like the spoon uh the rigid cers yeah the rigid I have you send me the list of mods and I'll throw it in the video description oh I think I think uh I think it's a proprietary uh formula oh okay not to be sure anyway uh and and of course a nice Square setup very mild tune for uh just a slightly lower VTEC start and slightly higher RPM so uh otherwise you know it's it's sort of the S2 000 um made to be Peak Roadster yeah as as you can see we have the top down yeah it's not about lap times with this car no this is all about the fields and it's on a um extreme contact uh Force yeah so that's a 200 tread wear right uh I believe it's 200 treadware is a 255 square but it it it's a it's a 255 Square not super grippy but just nicely Balan good enough all right let's see how it does that's awesome yes the Shi flight helps to show when it's green it's in VTEC good thing I'm color blind okay it's okay I can I can listen for the VTE car moves around [Music] oh [Music] [Music] one more lock [Music] [Music] [Music] nice oh this car is so damn fun you know my favorite part of this car by far is the ol TTX in the morning I drove the silver S2000 with KW v3s yeah oh my God it's night and day difference yeah and the difference is in the rear interesting going over uh the Dorito and other BMS I can go flat out without hitting the bump stops with these KW granted I I had a passenger but hey you're in the car as well right but I was I was definitely feeling the rear end of of that with the kws didn't have enough travel yeah well you know just this morning Sean got in the car and gave me a gave me a quick little tune and made all the difference in the world so yeah they feel so good how'd the car feel overall compared to the other ones you've driven you next to the well again the suspension is by far my favorite part of it the rest of it basically just feels more or less stock like it's more or less stock I like the lower VTech engagement it makes it easier to not fall out of the Power Band it feels minty fresh like youve kept it in great condition also it's a time capsule S2000 it's a time capsule that is being used to its uh potential for sure well it feels phenomenal thank you for letting me drive it app abely this is a long time coming all right it's been a few hours since we drove the silver s2k Stewie now we're in Bluey and I have no idea what lap time I did in the silver car I'm not really too concerned about that I just want to see the differences in the setup how it feels subjectively after I drove Stewie which has KW v3s just off the shelf kws right yep Harry's yellow s200 just now with ol's TTX the difference in rear end feel kws here ol's TTX is up here a single compression rebound over the Dorito I could just flat out a lot more easily so now we have jrz RS Pros rs2 Pros yeah have you done any tuning to it at all we left it as it was and it seems to be okay so uh I know the guy who tuned it oh [Music] [Music] come more holy this car is good this is the best s2k I've driven all day really oh my my God I don't know if I should be giving crops to June or uh you or like who it's like a combination of a bunch of people I guess it's all it's all June put it all together the only thing we did was uh upgrade the seats and uh put new tires on it my friend Eric is the one who tuned the suspension so good job Eric it handles the Dorito like it's nothing yeah just goes right over right over it these are two-way adjustable with a remote Reservoir right somehow the engine response feels better as well interesting I don't remember if June have this custom tun uh he did but actually we we reverted back to stock because put the cat back on we had a a tune without the cat it should be the same tune I st because I just put the Honda tuner on there with the stock tune without all I did was change the VTEC the only thing that was different other than wise was uh this has an iBot front sway so I I made that change on Stewie and that helped but it didn't get it all the way there I'm not sure if it's either maybe it's just the magic of the JZ stuff yeah or maybe there's some Caster um other suspension maybe alignment alignment stuff going on that might something's going on but this one has a better front end cuz KW spring rates off the shelf are pretty soft softer yeah yeah when I drove it in the canyons the suspension wasn't dialed in and it was all over the place but now it's like it's perfect yeah you want to ride with Jake Sure Fenton we go ride with you yeah let's do it
