today's adventure brings us to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery very interesting place I'm just going to spend a day roaming around the premises checking out some of the celebrity graves notable names and the layout of the land just a mellow day I point out some of the fascinating things that I find interesting it's not going to be a full tour piece by piece of every single spot here but we'll get to quite a bit of it I'm inviting you to join me shall you upon entering there is a shop that sells guide maps for only $5 you can purchase one and wander around at your own timeframe this old hearse is pretty amazing Rolls Royce no longer in use but it is kept here as a reminder of days gone by everywhere you wander out here you'll find peacocks you know don't fight it's not always accessible but I'm gonna try to get into that dome area just past the chapel if the doors open wow this is incredible inside some writing there on the ledge I think I could walk up they're also located on the second floor Jerry Siegel the co-writer of Superman Margaret Whitley the mother of Hollywood back in 1886 as the story goes she was here with her husband who was down on the far left of this hallway and that's where this area got its name they were here on honeymoon HJ Whitley and his wife he's located next to this beautiful stained-glass Pete Stanley was known as the piano man so next to his final resting place is a Steinway a miniature went right there the far end looks as if the door is open here at the Judy Garland pavilion even though she passed on in June of 1969 people still come to honor her there's a painting down there bottle of wine and some coins looks like we're having pretty good luck today nearly everything is open and accessible under the Talmadge name there are three sisters here the first Constance followed by Natalie who was the wife of Buster Keaton and Norma which goes down in history as the first person to place her hand and footprints in front of the Chinese Theater the founder of Paramount Pictures also went in with Cecil B DeMille to create the first film feature in this area Jesse Lasky passed away in 1958 his greatness never lacked simplicity as stated there imagine directing two classics that go on to live on forever we can thank this man for that very thing Victor Fleming Gone with the Wind and Wizard of Oz in the same year 1939 pretty amazing laid to rest here with his wife and daughter Lily and gray was the mother of Charlie's second wife placed here with her grandson who shares the name of his famous father throughout the entire 1970s there was a television litter campaign and you might remember iron eyes Cody pictured here who was very prevalent and became very popular through those TV ads late next to his wife who passed away 20-plus years before he did his last appearance on film was in Ernest goes to camp always loved that movie if you decide to come out here and check out anything in this mausoleum do so before 4 p.m. signage on the door states that's when that's when they close this section up should also mention there are public restrooms next to the chapel just behind this little veranda area if if you need them there aren't too many of us that haven't seen a cartoon where the characters are voiced by this guy stating that's all folks the man of a thousand voices of course Woody Woodpecker and Bugs Bunny even though he's been gone since 89 his legacy will always live on next to him as his wife Estelle who passed away in 2003 a shining star and within eyeshot of mel is this headstone of one of the Golden Girls Estelle Getty it's really the only one in this section along these hedges that's elevated just a bit very good sized tombstone here people have placed many many rocks along the top of it 2008 it should also be noted that you are allowed to park here on property and there's a really good view of that iconic sign up there on the mountain next to harold and fred is carl also known as alfalfa from the our gang series very young his life was taken over a dog over $50 for a reward for a dog he was shot just over 31 years old about to head into another enclosed area just below the paramount studios water tower you see it there peeking up over the roofline very well-known in the mob world Bugsy Siegel who was just 41 years old when he was gunned down at his girlfriend's house says In loving memory from the family and he's in the same section as a movie location that I am very familiar with and you might be too in Rocky 3 when they were saying goodbye to Mickey I'm standing in the same spot the camera was looking straight down that way there is a piano here it's seen better days but it is still it is still playable slightly out of key but right down at the end there was the final moments of Mickey and the rocky series Wow right here to be exact Stallone and company we're standing in front of that doorway on the far right it's a very sad moment for for anyone that's a fan of that series of films it appears that's the only key that works look that one does too but it kind of stuck these palm trees lining the roads through here are a nice touch as well very beautiful the cathedral mausoleum looks as if this is accessible at the moment as well Wow look at these statues follow the pathway of stained glass over in the corner as Valentino himself which is one of the most popular graves out here you can see lots of kisses lipstick marks left there on the side of the marble sitting caddy corner to Rudolph's spot is Peter Finch from the movie Network gave that famous speech where he was yelling I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take this anymore william desmond taylor who was born William tanner was a notable director who was murdered in February of 1922 and to this day it's still a cold case no one knows what really happened and not too far from there is Peter Lorre just adjacent someone has left some coins in the shape of of a smiley face next to his photos interesting sidenote remember earlier when I pointed out the mother and father of Hollywood and how they named the town the same is also rumored about harvey wilcox and his wife around the same timeframe and there is a road named after Wilcox in Los Angeles but which one can truly say they named this area that's a mystery back outside now here against this section of the building is Mickey Rooney now I know he's been in a heck of a lot of things but I will always remember him as Lampe from peach dragon states here that Hollywood will always be his home true in life and now true in death in memory of Toto on the complete opposite side of the property from Judy Garland and this is not the grave per se of the dog that was covered over by a freeway quite a ways from here they had built this just as an homage as a memory of Toto I saw Chris Cornell perform watts with Soundgarden end of July 1994 at the edge concert field in Orlando Florida I remember that night very well [Applause] at Cornell's funeral chester bennington stood on these very stairs and sang his rendition of hallelujah it wasn't much later that he passed on those stairs are located right here at this section of water and at the end of it is Douglas Fairbanks Jr and senior where they are laid to rest with once again that Paramount Studios water tower looming over their names are inscribed right up there and on this side state's good night sweet princess and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest there's also a couple lipstick marks right here as well looking from the opposite direction notice there's a pyramid there in the center of the strength always hanging around our Turtles right now they're perched on that log but if they were to swim over try to get to dry land a little bridge staircase has been built for them to crawl up onto the grass for Tyrone powers funeral a lot of Hollywood elite showed up to pay their respects including the likes of Jimmy Stewart Henry Fonda and many others some resting ducks there on the ground but they could use Judy's bench if they so decided that's why it's here a place for us to come and remember how much you loved us all love to you always your friends that's pretty cool located right here along the peaceful water born in 1866 Hannah Chaplin is the mother of one of the most famous silent film stars of all time some shoes have been placed here at Virginia raps ed Stone who suffered a very horrific fate at a party of Fatty Arbuckle the case has been examined very closely and no one really knows what happened with this one either there are a couple of honorable mentions so honorable in fact that headstones have been placed in their honor Jayne Mansfield is actually buried in Pennsylvania but they have this called a Cenotaph as an Amash you got to use the stairs gonna use those stairs use the stairs that's what they're there for yeah the stairs they're right over here to your right [Applause] No okay fine as well as how do you make Daniel from Gone with the Wind have said that one of her final wishes was to be laid to rest here but sign of the times back then it was not allowed and when the cemetery changed hand a few years later they asked the family if they wanted to move her body here but they decided against it instead they built this monument in her honor dedicated October 26 1999 Johnny Ramone rockin out here by the waterway and from what I heard his ashes were to be or are interned here nonetheless that's a pretty impressive statue I saw the Ramones as well back in the early 90s it was pretty fantastic I could safely say I'm very happy that I was able to see them perform before they broke up [Applause] keeping up with the same topic I feel so safe flying honoré here is didi and placed down below where it states okay I got a go now are some lighters cigarettes and even some guitar picks and while this is very very decorated take a look at the cherub to the far left it's wearing a guitar belonging to Bianca born to love lived to rock nice you got to love this the DeMille family plot and on the far right is that famous director of the Ten Commandments Cecil B I'm always reminded me of Sunset Boulevard that famous lied I'm ready for a my close-up mr. DeMille Janet Gaynor later in life added the Gregory she was the first to ever win a Best Actress Academy Award in 1929 for three different films prior to that ceremony that's some serious history right there Anton Yelchin also died at a very young age tragically there is no end date just says forever he wants to live on forever I do believe that's supposed to be King Kong right there just above fail Ray's head sound star of the 1933 classic a 2004 when she passed on they dimmed the lights of the Empire State Building for 15 minutes in her honor mama I rain sporting some sweet shades not only was she perfect States she was Italian Don Adams touched our hearts as Maxwell Smart secret agent 86 and the sixties TV series get smart filled the world with laughter that will forever be remembered on the opposite side of the lake from the DeMille family plot is the cone family plot and Harry who is an integral part of the Columbia Pictures organization is here and I mentioned the dimille's because their plot is very similar in style to this one got some very sharp fangs and a plastic spider next to those shoes and flour here at vampira's spot and she is located just at the forefront of Darren McGavin the father from Christmas Story and Billy Madison our Ock it's tough to see the etching from a distance get a little closer here born 1922 until 2006 this very tall monument as high as the trees is for Griffith J Griffith if you've heard of the observatory or Griffith Park this is who it was named for an interesting fact he spent two years in prison for shooting his wife true story Florence Lawrence the Biograph girl also known as the first movie star back in the silent film era they rarely used their names in the credits that changed here with Florence she had a very tragic ending as well in 1938 when she poisoned herself she's located at the far end of this historic Chapel just past that rock formation with these circular patterns and the pavement quite a few cats on site currently enjoying a meal well maybe they just enjoyed the meal this one's still still enjoying but the other ones have finished out and they're just watching from afar one could easily mistake this bus for Vincent Price but in actuality it's Kasparian Avitus 1940 the 1995 that's going to do it for today if you're new here please subscribe by doing so helps keep you in the loop and up-to-date on future adventures in my life as well as uploads here on this channel maybe you'll learn something new wandering around this premises I know I did if you enjoyed this particular episode give it a big thumbs up it lets me know you care I'll see you in the next video the vlog is over
