she's the TV mom most tonians growing up in the 80s and 90s would have known through her television name Clay huxel on the popular series The Cosby Show well the woman that made that role famous Felicia Rashad is in Trinidad and Tobago Kent Fuentes had the opportunity to get her thoughts on the Trin bonan experience felissa Rashad is in Trinidad and Tobago as a guest of dror and Mrs we Frederick and is happy to have accepted the invitation having worked with a famous son of the soil jeofrey holder the acclaimed actress is happy to witness for herself the inspiration behind his work here years ago I was telling she that uh in the early part of my career I had the Good Fortune to work with Jeffrey holder and now I realized what was so magical about the original production of the whiz because he brought Trinidad into that production he didn't tell us that he was doing that but that's what he did the color the Rhythm the magic Trinidad with a visit being in the height of the Carnival season Miss Rashad is enjoying every moment of it as she continues to learn about our culture especially the intricacies of the steel Pond The Sounds last night I went to a panyard man people don't understand the steel pan I mean people outside of your culture do not necessarily understand the magnificence of it the science of it the musicology of it the discipline of it the joy of it I could hardly sleep last night and the personal thoughts on the steel bar now I know more than ever that there's so much diversity in the sound you could play any kind of music on a steel Pan the m Masters do the energy of it seeing this large group of musicians from different parts of the world mind you from different cultures and I think that's what's unique about Trinidad that I really love Miss Rashad was left impressed by the cultural diversity of what twin Island Republic my daughter told me it was so she visited a year ago and she insisted that I come she said Mom you will never see a place of Greater diversity cultural diversity where all of that diversity is embraced as one and that's true and how would she describe Trinidad and Tobago in her own words I like Adventure and this is a great one there's so much here there's a wealth of culture here of History here of connection here and I'm wondering how is it that all these different people come to be in this one place living like this that was one of my questions last night how did this come to be how did this happen Trinidad is magical meanwhile artist CH loves was grateful for the visit by the world of famous actress so I came to visit this gentleman yeah uh at the suggestion of Dr Wayne Frederick and I'm so glad that I have come it was an honor to have to have to have Felicia here is amazing um to be able to share what I'm doing and what Trinidad is um you know a little bit with somebody for stature and you know spending time in a place like this is yeah it's going to it's it lifts the spirit yeah for sure and what a time to do it yeah what a time to do it this is your home as well yes exactly but my studio for sure yes Kent Winters TT news
