- A question I often get
on my Las Vegas videos are Chris, what is the best
time of year to come to Vegas? And so in this video, Topher and I are gonna answer that question. Hey but if this is your first time here, this is Yellow Productions. We do travel guides that are
fun, informative, entertaining. This is part of our series on Las Vegas, and to answer the question of
what is the best time of year to come to Las Vegas? Simple, it is the holiday
season, look at this right here. Holiday season being
Thanksgiving, December, into early January holidays. In this video, I'll give
you eight reasons why the holiday season is the
best time to visit Las Vegas. The first reason to visit Las
Vegas during the holidays, what makes it one of
the best times to visit is frankly, the weather. The weather in the summer,
and the spring, and the fall in Las Vegas is usually
terribly oppressive. Standing out here at nine at night, if it was June, I would still be sweating. It would be that hot, but
if you come in November, December, January, it's
a nice temperature. Like daytime highs around the 60s, nighttime lows of 40, I mean you need a little bit of jacket, but it gives you that cozy winter weather without being freezing, it never snows, and Las Vegas is a place where
like nothing really closes, and so everything is open
in Vegas in the holidays. You might go some places
Thanksgiving, Christmas, it's all closed down,
but here it's all open. About the only exception, if
you come during the holidays, that isn't open are the pool clubs. Most of the hotel swimming
pools will still be open, just the pool clubs, that
are like the nightclubs at the pools, those aren't open, 'cause it's just not that hot. But, this is a good time to come, 'cause you could walk the whole Strip, and not have to go through
like 10 bottles of water in one, mmm, one mile. The holidays is the best
time of year to come to Vegas because how often can you
go ice skating on the Strip? Only one time of year,
during the holidays. The Cosmopolitan Hotel,
up on the 4th floor, every year from about
November 'til the New Year, sets up an ice skating
rink, right on the Strip. I mean that is an ice skating rink with a really impressive view. The ice skating rink is normally a pool where you can rent cabanas. But since it's an ice skating rink, if you've got a little extra cash, you can reserve a fire pit. Now that's a romantic
way to spend an evening. Another great reason to visit
Vegas during the holidays is for all of the holiday decorations, pretty much every hotel is
decorated for the season. The best is at the Bellagio,
right off the lobby, in the conservatory, it's busy,
there's a lotta people here. But there's a 40 foot Christmas tree, there these huge polar bears, then there's these big horses back here, that like the tails
actually move by themselves. It's totally a winter wonderland. The fountain in front of the
Bellagio has special songs, that performs for Christmas, and The Linq the outdoor shopping promenade,
hotel of the same name, is all decorated for the season as well. The 5th reason to visit
Vegas during the holidays is to gorge yourself on one of the amazing
buffets in Las Vegas. Las Vegas has some amazing
food, and what better way to have a holiday meal,
than an amazing buffet. The one I'm at right now, it's
in the Cosmopolitan Hotel, it's called the Wicked Spoon. It's one of the best in
the city, and of course they've got things like
crab legs, prime rib. But what am I gorging myself on? Dragon fruit, this fruit you
can find it everywhere in Asia, and it's really cheap
there, but in the states, it is like $10 a pound, so mmm, this is my 3rd plate of this. But, the great thing about having a buffet for your holiday meal, there's no clean up afterwards at all. You just eat and you go. Though I will point out, if you're actually
eating your holiday meal, on the holiday, like
Thanksgiving or Christmas, it might be pretty busy. My tip, come and have your
holiday meal the day after. Today, December 26th, 5:00
p.m. at the Wicked Spoon, no line at all, alright, enjoy. Visiting Las Vegas before
Christmas is great to do all your last minute Christmas shopping. Pretty much every hotel
has some shops in it. There's lots of shopping malls, there's the fashion shops, particularly if you're
into high end gifts. Did you know that on the
Las Vegas Strip alone, there are six certified Rolex dealers? I wonder if Rolex sells any in yellow. I should check it out while we're here. One of the best reasons to
visit Vegas during the holidays is because the holiday
season, historically, has the lowest hotel rates. Hotel rates in Vegas can fluctuate wildly. But two weeks that always
has really cheap hotel rates, the week of Thanksgiving
and the week of Christmas. Generally right before and
right after both those holidays. A lotta these hotels can have room rates, six, $700 a night, you
can find those same hotels for like one or $200 a
night in those Thanksgiving or Christmas weeks. 'Course the exception is if you
are here for New Year's Eve, it does go up in price quite a bit, but come at Thanksgiving,
or come during Christmas, and get the hotels for a
fraction of their regular price. The 8th reason to visit Las
Vegas during the holidays, and this is probably why
most people come to visit, is for New Year's Eve. Over 300,000 people come to visit Vegas to ring in the New Year. They close off the entire
strip, it's pedestrian only, starting at 6:00 p.m. There's also another New
Year's Eve party downtown, at the Fremont Street Experience. That one has an admission fee,
there's live entertainment, little smaller, less crowds. That one, the show is also,
they ring in the New Year on the Viva Vision, which
is the light show on top. But if you come to the
Strip, they do fireworks, from lots of the Strip hotels. But there's lots of rules and regulations, and book your hotel early,
and it won't be cheap. Yes, hotel rooms New
Year's Eve can be upwards of $1,000 but it is a
pretty exciting place to ring in the New Year. So, if you enjoyed this video, and you wanna see some
