foreign guys let me know when you can hear me how oh Lisa says she can hear us can you see us loud and clear loud and clear good afternoon Bodhi thank you all for joining us this must mean it is the third Thursday of the month saying third Thursday reminds me of that movie cooties that we just watched have you guys seen the film cooties it came out a couple of years back it's a comedy horror film with Elijah Wood but one of the characters in that film he's the gym teacher and he's uh constantly trying to tell people that he drives a a rear wheel wheel no yes no it's a dual rear wheel truck but he can't say it fast and it's really actually hard to say fast which is why they probably just say Dooley but dual I can't do it I can't do it we we cracked ourselves up because after we watched that movie we went to dinner or something and we were trying to say it and it's it's no lie like that's it's always what happens with with Rayne Wilson's character is really what will come out of your mouth yeah he's not acting that's that's yeah it's pretty funny anyway guys uh I think we are live and loud and clear for everyone I think anyone's made it through any pre-rolls so why don't we just get this party started um I see that we got a few new members already welcome hope you enjoy um but Eric is gonna kick us off Eric is kicking us off with I'm moving and don't have space for the heresy Force but my mom is using them and is happy so now I have 600 I'm assuming 600 Mark II with a power node power node Edge that or the sevens oh stick with them stick with what you have yeah I mean if you have it already you're good to go there's nothing else to really worry about I mean the sevens are great but you know I don't think you're gonna get a demonstrably different experience no unless you're just like you know that money is burning a hole in your pocket yeah and I and I think because you went with the power node you already have the HDMI connectivity you already have the streaming you argue you arguably have better streaming than what you would get through Bluetooth um in the sevens as good as the sevens are so I would say you know what I would just stick with the sick the 600 M Mark II's in the in the power node your mom's have won this yeah your mom really is sitting pretty I mean wow talk about a great set of speakers I bet she likes them all right thank you so much Eric uh for your support and for a great question to kick off the show uh Nestor keep up the good work always enjoy your videos kef R11 metas and Marantz 40n or emotivo with a preamp um I'm gonna have to say look the 40n will drive R11 metas but I believe if everything else is sorted you're probably going to do a little bit better if you can get them a little bit more power uh in reserve you know most speakers they're only sipping on the power of an amplifier and so a lot of people ask questions it's like why do you really need a 200 watt amplifier it's for those sudden Peaks and jolts that can exist in music or movies um and in those instances you need like instantaneous access of power and if you only have 30 40 50 watts and you're already listening at a higher volume that's using maybe 32 of those watts and then suddenly the speaker just calls for all of the power that the amplifier has to give and let's say you're using 30 Watts because you're listening at like 80 90 DB and suddenly you get 105 DB Peak well you're going to clip the amp so in those instances this is where an xpa 2 emotivas slightly or I guess it would be their higher end uh stereo amp with like 300 watts per Channel um only going to run you maybe about a thousand bucks you can go with the basics A2 or A1 which will run you much less I think you get a pair of A1 monos for 800 bucks for the pair and then add their preamp I think you'll be really really happy with that little bit out of an added investment with those particular speakers now if you had say kef bookshelf speakers or kef uh what is it the Q Series the cheaper ones uh the the 40n is more than enough I think but the r11s they like a little bit of juice thank you Nestor Christopher writes which set of the current Polk lineup would you take if you could get 50 off to replace a pair of SRS sda3s one TLS to be paired with four LSI 15s for bed layer and four ls17 Heights three Polk in ceilings um which set of the current I mean honestly the only Polk speaker that I I mean they're all good I would buy the the cheaper series but if you're saying what would I get especially on a 50 off sale uh pulp Reserve um r700s uh if you can swing them go for them their best speaker pulks made in years that's what I would get that is legit what I would do sounds like someone's got themselves a sale and when I have to ask because I've been doing this a while and I and I know the term bed layer and all of that stuff but I it is it is new new how suddenly this terminology is finding its way into the conversation when for years no one referred to I mean no one referred to things as bad layers or this you know and stuff like that so it's just either we're all getting real Technical and more interested in the hobby which is great or someone has introduced terminology into the Zeitgeist and we're we're all really oh it's definitely somebody out there we're all taken aback none of the stuff we see in the comments is by accident or yeah it's just funny to me because even when I was you know mixing working on mixing films and and being around people that mix trailers and stuff it's like can't say I've ever heard a sound engineer use the word bed layer even though that is what we're talking about but I it's just not something that never came up it was just maybe it was understood but I don't know I don't know where I'm going with this I just did it and what is it again oh it's just it's just it's it's it's it's it's kind of referring to like the the fixed number of like channels you know because Atmos is supposed to be all object based but it's not really object based it's got some bad layers and then it's got object layers or object things that it can kind of move based on placement and where things are located and I guess it has to do with Atmos and that's maybe where this all comes from but it's just funny to me that even pre-atmos when it was like discrete channels or this and that no one used technical terms it was just number of whatever anyway let's see Christopher uh uh oh we answered that one sorry I'm getting Michael uh-oh Michael says sorry for being a dead horse do you both still endorse the xtf100s sorry again getting very close to purchasing need my anxiety quell up okay Michael Martin Logan Martin Logan's yes of course we have not turned our back on that speaker it is not the speaker that is behind my back currently that is a different Martin Logan um just because you may not see a product on this channel uh going forward or just because it's something that we have said you know hey this is something we love this is great but then you don't see it again has absolutely nothing to do with suddenly that product whether it be a speaker an amplifier preamp whatever has nothing to do with that product suddenly being quote bad it has everything to do with two very uh benign factors one I have limited square footage and I can only afford in the physical sense to keep my hands on so many pieces of gear for reference that is usually the biggest driving force behind why for weeks you may see one thing we we come out with the review we tell you what we think of it and if it's positive but then three weeks four weeks down the line maybe you don't see it anymore it's purely because there's always new stuff coming in and I can't hang on to everything second the Martin Logan's were fantastic they were absolutely fantastic I adore them and if you watch that video we were very clear about who we thought they were for and why we thought they were so excellent and arguably one of the best speakers if not the best speaker Martin Logan has made in years all that said a couple weeks after we reviewed them we got the Kev r11s and obviously they're priced roughly the same and for our personal tastes and needs the kef R11 proved to be the better speaker for us and like I said go back to point one I can't afford to literally hang on to bold giant sets of towers and that's why the F-100 isn't here anymore but it has nothing to do with it being a quote bad speaker it is phenomenal and I not only back you if you wanted to go buy these for yourself but I I wholeheartedly stand behind our review and that product because it is so good all right uh TM thank you for your support if you meant to tack a question onto that um we will look for it remember guys you have to attach a question to the Super Chat and if you're curious how you do that if you open open the description box I've put something in there that kind of goes over what is a Super Chat how to do it how you do it but you have to attach the question to your contribution otherwise we're probably gonna miss it uh Chris hello Andrew and Kristen Christie only on mobile today all the best from the mountains well Chris is joining us from the mountains on a mobile connection that sounds great I bet it's cool yeah cooler wherever he is yeah um I probably look like an impressionist painting if you're on mobile you know probably that nice uh crispy three 320 or 240. make sure you you check your the wrench settings and while you're watching so that you can at least get the 1080p version uh because you know YouTube loves to just yeah they like the throttle all right uh Damon writes I own sonus fiber limited 2 speakers with the Yamaha RN 2000a and love them only on some music the speakers sound bright and I get fatigue with the BMW 805 d4s be too bright in that case also uh yes they would um the the treble characteristics while not exactly the same the treble characteristics of both those speakers are going to lean more towards being more similar than different if certain recordings are punishing because those speakers are not really rolling off anything in the Tweeter that just comes down to two things one the the Tweeter the speaker design on the whole is not attempting to editorialize uh too much it's not backing things off out of fear that you're going to have a poor recording it's just gonna say hey a poor recording support recording we just make the speaker we're not here to be the engineers um and so yes if you have a poor recording with a lot of sibilants or plosives or compression um things like that Distortion already in the mix uh for example there is a song uh by Japanese house called um Dion is it or what is it Dion um that I love I think it's a great song lyrically it's fantastic however it is a very affected song in that they used a a ton of uh filters on it and techniques on it and as a result it is almost unlistenable through probably 90 of the speakers that come into this house um if I can make it through that song on a pair of speakers I can pretty much guarantee you that the Tweeter is probably rolled off three to six DB and I'm usually right when I then go and objectively measure them in our room whereas if I'm like oh that song is spicy it's that's that's all I need to know to know that that Tweeter is not backing things down whatsoever so uh I don't think in this instance if you're trying to combat fatigue uh the 805s would be any better than what you currently have you may make gains in other areas like focus and and imaging and things like that but not travel attenuation good question though uh Lisa writes I don't see a way to become a member on my phone do I have to join on my computer oh I just answered her okay Lisa I think Christy's got you on that one Tech mad Rainer Richter hey Christy and Andrew excited to join this early today it's convenient time over here in Germany 10 P.M well we are glad that it works out for our European fans and we're so glad to see you live yes and thank you thank you always being so generous with us we do appreciate it I know that Australians it's like six in the morning if there are any Aussies in the house uh cheers on the coffee I think there's one one of them was going to be listening on the bus or something on their way to work nice yeah nice turn it up for everyone to hear um uh vedak writes I Spy the Martin Logan Foundation F1 when is the review it's coming up I don't have my calendar in front of me and we don't share exact dates uh it is coming up I would say I don't think you're gonna have to wait more than a month uh but I don't remember the exact date but uh yep we have the entire line actually we will only be focusing on a couple of things or a couple of skus we won't be reviewing the entire line but we do have the entire line in-house so that we can compare and contrast and at least take a couple of shots of them so you can see the differences but that is going to be a fun one it's uh currently being run by a piece of electronics that no one in their right mind would pair with these speakers Uber Uber high-end meets entry level but we have fun we have fun uh let's see here Bill Thompson thank you so much appreciate that uh June I think here hi from Melbourne inside Dirac live calibration what does speaker groupings do in the performance of the system I have 5.1.4 uh speaker groupings which is Speaker groupings do in the performance well gosh I would have to pull up direct in front of me to be honest um if I'm not mistaken direct just kind of groups speakers together on its own on the right side of the dashboard are you saying because it does that is it doing something because you can I think you can globally adjust and do altered curves uh to entire groups or you can choose to do it individually as for what does it do um sonically I I don't think it would I don't think it changes anything there's nothing that has jumped out to me or anything that I've noticed um as far as that but again I guess uh I'm not the I'm not an engineer with direct so there are still things that I learn about it every day and hell they keep coming out with new parts of the software you know you got direct live you've got the direct bass stuff and now you've got well only with certain processors uh but it's gonna it will uh come out with you know to more more things but you have the Drac live like live room correction um which is going to be a whole other thing that I have to look at and learn here in due time so but I don't believe groupings do anything to the performance but if I am mistaken or if I am wrong please someone correct me in the comments but as I understand it it just kind of groups them for um kind of organizational sake but I believe you can affect groups uh on the whole but you can also obviously do them individually um not a super chat but thank you thank you someone uh someone vehemently disagreed with you today we got some fan mail holy crap we got some fan mail today that was essentially a death threat yeah die yeah because we're not um I'm not an I don't have an electrical engineering degree and uh I am I'm a page chill and I am a subjective reviewer oh well I guess we know who to thank for that yeah yeah I'm a subjective reviewer and I can eat excrement and die and die uh hopefully while at the same time um yeah so anyway I swear people are psychotic like get a get a hobby yeah well unfortunately he did and we're a part of it uh Chris thank you so much I appreciate the love um and Tommy also appreciate the love uh this is Tommy's first Super Chat well thank you Tommy I I love that thank you uh oh no oh no it jumped on me YouTube what are you doing okay found myself uh Wishbone writes what are you two listening to lately any new old music recommendations I have had churches on quite a bit lately um enjoying their playlist on Apple music um we've been we've been listening to that um Dominique Dominic it's we've said it wrong oh no corrected us because they must be French or something but here let me see if I can continue and I'll see if I can Dominique Dominique French French French lady French uh Jazz Singer she's very good she's very good we we actually got turned on to her let me I want to attribute this correction Luke Luke q s two c g i mean that's super official okay um this person says it is pronounced feesame short a same thing for Randy president of Nintendo America nobody ever gets it right right LMFAO okay well I we've been listening to her and she's fantastic we actually got turned on to her by a HiFi retailer uh believe it or not we were since we last spoke we visited a Hi-Fi retailer and I'm gonna take a shot in the dark here there is a young man that worked at this store that recognized Christian I as we were walking through it and he came up and introduced himself and well before the well before the older gentleman or the manager of the store realized I mean this he was talking to that person for several minutes he had no idea which is fine which is fine I don't walk into any place going do you know who I am I don't do that I do yeah she does she's like oh we're gonna go in here and get recognized I'm like no we're not I don't ever say that are you weirdo anyway um there was a very young nice nice young man um who was in the middle of doing a job I believe he was one of the retailers installers and he left his group and what he was doing came over and shook her hand and said he loved the channel and everything I am a horrible horrible person in that in all of the chaos of that day and that trip I misplaced my notes uh with this young man's name so if you are watching please send me an email because I actually would love to pick your brain um and I meant to talk to you further while we were still at your store but anyway that store that retailer um Turned us on to Dominique well you know because we were listening to several very high-end systems one of which was about a million dollars all in oh yeah it was my first experience ever hearing a Wilson speaker and she heard him like not just one Wilson speaker no I wanted to hear that you went up the line we started at like Sabinas and went all the way to Wham and I will admit they're pretty damn good yeah they're pretty damn good although you liked the quote cheaper ones compared to say the Wham yeah oh yeah the big big one was just ridiculous it was too much it was overwhelming I felt like somebody was beating me upside the head with music yeah okay a little bit Yeah Juliet like calm down I'm right here yeah yeah but that was it was a million dollar system it was powered by like burmester electrons beautifully like beautifully set up curated like DCS Dax the whole bit but it was the Lesser expensive uh lesser expense I think they were like 38 or 40 Grand a pair but you know Far Cry from which was the pair that I didn't like the whams no was I thought there was another pair something else that we listened to that was like oh well that was a different speaker brand who was it that was Lynn's new powered speakers oh yeah that was boring it was a bit flat there was I I don't think they and and I think to this person's CR the the Retailer's credit they had just started to monkey with them like fidget with them and stuff so I'm trying not to judge him but it was not impressive but um some of the Wilson stuff oh the Wilson stuff yeah okay I get it now I get it now um it's it was good yeah it was really good so that's kind of what we've been listening to we're getting back to the question no no no I've been I haven't been listening as much as I've been watching oh yeah she is on a binge I'm watching The Americans which is a series that I started watching many many years ago and only got through like maybe the first season I think because maybe I didn't have cable or something at suddenly and whatever I couldn't access access it anymore but the music the soundtrack of that is really great highly recommend if you like taking uh a trip through like you know the 80s yeah so you've been watching the Americans and yeah anyway I'm sure we've lost half our half our viewers apologies come back yes Glenn thank you so much uh Tommy we're getting back to the questions here regards from New Jersey Turnpike you better not be texting and driving you better be sitting in that nice traffic um I have BMW 702 signatures and S3 Center I have in-wall BMW in-wall rears I'm moving should I take rears with me or get new I honestly think that might be up to the person buying or taking over your home if they make you like when I sold one of my homes that had a dedicated Theater built into it years and years and years ago believe it or not the people that bought my house one of the stipulations on the contract was I had to remove everything in the theater because they didn't want a theater they wanted an extra living room um so I was charged with ripping all of that out and it was expensive to put in and it was almost as much to take out um so I think that might be up to whomever comes after you if you can take them with you and it doesn't cost you a fortune to patch the holes you've already paid for it it's yours so continue to enjoy it I don't know if you'll get demonstrably better results by getting new in-walls so it's kind of your call uh Bob welcome welcome to member Bob um Ben writes uh please compare r700 hc1 to Klipsch Heritage for late light late night listening um well I I think I mean the HC one if that's the emotiva amp that we used on the r700s and then we used again in the hematiba amp as far as Klipsch Heritage for late night listening um with an amp like that they're both going to be pretty exceptional at lower volumes um You probably get a little bit more just a hint more uh presence and Clarity at lower volumes through the clips um but both speakers are going to require you to kind of turn up a little bit for the bass to come good but uh yeah that's the best I got because I don't have an hc1 anymore so I can't bring our r700s or either of our heritage products out to do that comparison so I just have to go with what I told you foreign [Music] writes hey any plans to review the PS audio Aspen series or the FR 30s a few months back they were incredible uh there are no plans but that's not because we're saying no um Paul who is the proprietor over at um PS audio Paul is not reached out to us uh for anything and at this point I think you've tagged them enough times on Instagram to know that you yeah our viewers and have expressed interest and that you welcome a review but yeah yeah they it we we we never I mean we always ask we always uh put our best foot forward but we don't we don't make demands like we don't like you've got to let us review this because they can always just go no we don't um so the ball's kind of in Paul's court if that's something you guys want to see then please write Paul a very nice email who knows maybe he'll read it live on his channel in one of his in one of his daily videos that would be hilarious actually um but yeah you can just send them a nice email and just uh see if that's something he wants to do in which case I I know he knows how to get a hold of us so uh let's see 900 tickets I'm gonna say that's short for tickets um just wanted to say thanks got the wharfdale linton's based on your advice and I love them with my NAD 3050 Le keep up the great work hey that's awesome that's awesome NAD Wharf nail pretty pretty nice uh pairing gotta say I love the lintons yeah they're they're great uh Michael hi Andrew and Christy big comedy scene in California do you guys go to any comedy shows if so who are some of your favorite comics well I can tell you this last time I went to a comedy show I was in California and I used to go a lot I did I used to go um you know Comedy Store Laugh Factory stuff like that um also went to this place called the ice box a few times that was located in and around the Pasadena area and always had a blast but the last time I went and I kind of lump live concerts in with this but the audiences are becoming unbearable for me they really are no one knows how to go and watch a show anymore and it's part of the reason why I am very selective with the live music I go see it's a perfect example of why I have not gone to a comedy show in probably over 10 years and it's why I largely stay away from movie theaters I just people General group etiquette is I don't know where it went I don't know where it went I don't know why we managed to go hundreds of years knowing how to behave as a group and then call it in the last decade or so we've just said you know what let's be let's just be as annoying as believer uh so as far as favorite Comics um gosh who do we we just watched a couple of oh you know what though I take as I say that I haven't been to a live show we went to a live show we saw what's her face um Taylor Thompson Taylor Thompson who was hilarious although she had to stop her show at one point to get audience members to relax and calm down and stop heck not heckling they weren't I don't think they were heckling but well any form of talking out loud unless unless the or any any unless they solicit yeah your either reaction or comments just shut the hell up yeah enjoy the show and enjoy the show enjoy the show they have a job to do and you you people that speak out and shout and try to you know Play Freebird you know like you're annoying you're annoying no one likes you which is amazing because like some of these shows they're not cheap and it's like you're paying hundreds of dollars to and I guess maybe that's part of it like people are paying hundreds of dollars so they feel entitled to do whatever they want but for the rest of us we also paid hundreds of dollars to see ex-performer and you're ruining it oh my God Lisa Lisa says I was at the Opera last week and a woman had her shoes off and her legs draped over the seat in front of her in bare feet at the Opera oh my God that's that's nightmare fuel people are I mean people are insane there's a little bit of insanity in the water these These Days yeah so you yeah I mean as far as Comics a Taylor's hilarious uh who's that Italian comic he's got a YouTube channel Mateo Mateo something Mateo something he just did a YouTube special that was freaking hilarious I'll watch anything that guy does he's hilarious um he's got a cooking show on YouTube and it's a series series and he also has this one where his best friend drags him to Awful places throughout New York and his best friend is hilarious so they just they just put out a video last week where he introduced his best friend to his private trainer and he made his friend work out and he probably he has a hard time lifting Chopsticks so for real for real so like watching him Struggle Bus through working out I I was laughing so I mean that's kind of off the top of my head that's that's who I'm watching uh J.A looking for some wired headphones uh listening mostly to vinyl 1000 Max your recommendation gosh man I do not use headphones at all with the exception of the Sony xm4s and my airpods the last wired headphones that I used that I liked were from Andover audio and I believe they were re-badged Audis headphones planar magnetic headphones they're like 399 4.99 um those were phenomenal outside of that oh I found them I'll I'll put I'll pop a link in the chat box you can you can check those out I thought those were great they they sounded good to me I am not the world's foremost expert on headphones I don't listen to a lot of headphones so for me to say you know this is a great expenditure of four or five hundred bucks for me I I would buy them because I've obviously seen headphones that are thousands of dollars and I go rather have a system um but those were good I I have p5s and p7s from Bowers and Wilkins in reserve but I've had them for 10 years now um those are good uh not as comfortable as I wish they would maybe the newer ones are better um but I've also enjoyed those too but again not the world's foremost expert on wired headphones because at this point I don't want a leash Bluetooth exists Wireless is there um the quality is also there so it's wireless for me at my turntable the uh um Alva ttv2 has uh great Bluetooth in it and I can actually sync that directly to headphones if I so choose which is kind of incredible uh next question each El Toro is here El Toro is here hello I have transpose 1500 based on your review should I get an AV receiver or stereo amp currently have Sony 830 Qs I watch movies and Music 50 50. uh for those speakers honestly I just get a really nice AVR you could go on qrz50 at around 13 to 1500 bucks if you wanted to go absolutely crazy you could go Marantz Cinema 50 put it in its direct like stereo mode or pure direct mode and it's going to sound phenomenal um I cannot say enough about the cinema line for Marantz everything from the 70 now up to the cinema 40 which we are getting real close to buttoning up our review on guys I know you've been patient um that lines that Line's just they they killed it they absolutely killed it um so that's what I would do but if you like the Sony Sound and you already have had the Sony's uh on your trans polls 1500s of course you could go with the Sony 5000 es I don't know if you have to go totally crazy and get the 7000 like we did but that 5000 es may be worth a look too but I think you'll be just fine with the AV receiver and have the perfect 50 50 split great speakers man I wish that trans pulse would get would come back in stock but oh I know me too it was so much so much fun so much fun such a great price point hold on real quick we're gonna get you Steve promise uh oh hi Steve um Dean Kimpton says I found the lintons to be a little bass boomy do you agree with that they can be the lintons can go that way for sure I mean a it's a re-reported speaker it is a speaker with a dedicated woofer um if you place them too close to boundaries uh that means you know they're close to a wall either the wall directly behind them or a wall uh to their side or two you put them in a corner they're going to load they're gonna load for sure if you find any speaker not just the lens if you find any speaker to be boomy the best easiest first thing you should do is experiment with placement and you can even leave your speakers where they are and just um sit one foot closer and then sit one foot back of wherever your primary listening position is you will be amazed at how vastly different a pair of speakers that you've listened to for years can suddenly sound so and a lot of people don't they don't experiment with placement it's the weirdest thing they'll they'll they'll go I need room treatments or I need a new amp when in fact maybe just moving their couch back a foot or forward a foot or the speakers closer maybe their couch is up against the you know the wall moving their speakers forward one foot or back one foot is all that was needed um or maybe even moving their speakers a little closer together or further apart you know some people are like oh what's that I don't these don't image at all and then you know you they'll send you a picture or whatever and the speakers are you know three feet four feet apart and I get small spaces sorry there's a piece of candy hair floating in the air I get that you know there are small spaces but you're not going to experience a Sound Stage you're not going to experience depth or width if your speakers are you know two three feet apart it's basically a mono signal at that point and so the best thing you can do if you have any pair of speakers and you're like oh they're too bright or they're too Bassy or they're this or that play with placement either the placement of yourself or the placement of the speakers themselves uh Steven Wright writes uh needs some Channel swag I'm all in for a juice is worth the squeeze t-shirt there may be an opportunity for some stuff like that to be coming to our brand if you will or the channel uh soon enough soon enough it's in the works uh wow Nick Nick coming in like a boss he gifted five memberships that is awesome Nick if you have not checked out Nick's Channel over at movie AV impulse I highly recommend that you do so um I especially if you like movies especially if you like movies and are looking for movies to play on your home theater he does some top fives but the thing that I think really makes Nick stand out uh besides the fact that he's his videos get better every week and he he went from I don't know how to do this to he's he's getting some chops um but no the the thing that I like about Nick is he's trying to relate his movie reviews back to his life experiences or other people's life experiences and how movies are relatable not only for entertainment but lessons and I admit I don't know every movie that he talks about because he likes a lot of genre picks that fall into I'll call it like the gangster genre and while obviously we've all you know Godfather and things like that he he has some deep Cuts in there that I'm still like okay I gotta catch up um but it's a it's a fun channel it's a fun Channel and I highly recommend you guys check it out ah thank you Nick uh demand I recently heard a luxman Class A amplifier and love the sound more than luxman Class A B how come you do not have any Class A amps in your collection or review any um well Class A is phenomenal sound but like with anything it's phenomenal when it's done correctly being Class A or class a b or even class D doesn't automatically make you good or bad um the reason why I don't have a lot of Class A stuff is uh two-fold I used to um but the reason I don't is a really good class A is also very cost prohibitive or tends to get up there in price it also tends to be pretty big it also tends to be pretty inefficient and it puts out a lot of heat and and um well we moved to the desert and so I need amplifiers that I can listen to 24 7 365 whereas some of my bigger tube amps uh like the Canter and stuff like I really only listen to that stuff in the fall in the winter because it will raise the ambient temperature of my room 5 to 10 degrees no problem and so I don't feel the need to have to run my AC at a lower temperature to combat the fact that I'm listening to a certain kind of amplifier and that's just one of the trade-offs with class A although as I say that a couple of Class D amps lately have been getting pretty damn warm so I'm not really sure what people are doing and expensive and expensive so I'm not really sure what people are doing anyway um I love Class A it's just not the most practical solution for me but if I didn't have a channel and I also didn't live in a place where the temperature swings could literally be 70 degrees in a single day day um yeah I probably have like a past Labs XA series amplifier which is a pure Class A amplifier because those are the last ones that I had and they were but nominal absolutely great and I wish oh sorry go ahead oh just really quickly about the Super Chat stuff if you aren't seeing your super chat up at the pinned at the top if it disappears that doesn't mean that necessarily that Andrew can't see it yeah so I'm logged in on my own personal account so I'm just like you I'm watching this unfold like everyone else now I can see that there are some new super chats up at the top now but I've also seen others come and go yeah from what I understand about YouTube your Super Chat is um you get the more you the more you contribute in other words the more you spend the longer your question can be in other words the more characters you receive and I think it also affects how long it stays pinned at this at the top of the chat box yeah but that doesn't mean I don't think so anyway that Andrew can't still see it no your super chats in my dashboard remain highlighted forever and so I'm just behind I'm just behind I can see people have have gifted or done super chats and I'm not there yet so we'll I will get to them um it's just if you see the little thing at the bar go away that doesn't mean that your highlighted comment has disappeared on my dashboard and I just yeah it just it's an everything's answered in chronological order right um we appreciate your patience I know somebody made a comment earlier that this looks like it's pay to play we don't intend for it to be that way I am personally answering as many questions as I can in the comments to people who have not done super chats um and as it says in the description and and in Andrew's pin comment because we rece received such a high number of questions yeah the super chats are the ones that receive priority and yeah it's just the only way to get this done or we would be here for I mean even if you're all day even if I live streamed for 24 hours it would we wouldn't even make it pass I mean we're probably already several hundred comments deep um so anyway let's start back to it but I just felt like that needed to be addressed yeah it's it's not about being pay to play we try and just we try and do our best um but when we started streaming and once we realized that there was such a thing as super chats and people you guys actually were the ones were like how come you're not turning this on and you guys taught us how to turn it on and then once we did like you kind of created this monster a little bit so anyway way to blame them no no I just I we don't blame you it's just it's just the way it is yeah you know like if you were somewhere and you were donating money and if somebody that didn't donate monies question got answered before yours you'd probably be upset and so anyway let's just move on okay uh hello from Poland I'm moving to a bigger house with Dolly opticons and thinking to change Marantz 6015 to Denon 4800 H will get extra punch in movies um I don't know the 6015 to be honest with you and I don't know the dolly opticons so I can't say and I don't really want to speak out of turn and give you bad potentially bad advice or have you needlessly spend money here's what I would do I would take your speakers and your existing Marantz to your new house set it up if you feel like something's missing or it's just so different from what you're used to then I would maybe consult with a dealer and see if maybe you can't borrow a 4800 h on a say a one day loan and just try it just try it or you could also just get a stereo amplifier for your dollies connect it to the preamp house because I'm just assuming the 6015 at least has stereo preamp pads and just give them more power that way for your for your larger space that might actually be the best way to go so that's what I got for you all right uh let's see here oh no it jumped on me hold on gotta get back oh my gosh I am so behind see this is it behind where oh my gosh where was I all right no more sidetracks no more sidetracks bill writes I am an electrical engineering degree and you are great well thanks Bill thank you Bill thank you Bill so Bill didn't write the email no we know we're safe from Bill all right bill but we do appreciate the uh the uh you know the the love here yeah thank you Tariq uh for your support oh okay um I'm gonna butcher this name oh no Emilian it's French it's French I'm pretty sure hi after your review I bought a Sony an1000 360 SSM is amazing would you have a recommendation for a cheap bookshelf to listen to my music with third zone out uh uh I mean you just want a kind of an inexpensive bookshelf I don't know if the fluence um oh and come on now what the focals I I mean the fluences are a couple hundred bucks whereas the focals are like 900. oh oh okay it's looking like they are looking for a third Zone oh okay with like zone three eyes I mean Ultra Ultra maybe cheap on the on the ultra Ultra fluance yeah on the ultra cheap side fluance bookshelves I really like those at about 175 dollars a pair um if you can step it up or maybe I'm misreading the question and you are looking for say a sub thousand dollar quality bookshelf of course there's the Polk r200s uh since you're getting a separate amplifier uh you'll have no problem with those [Music] Uma number ones are definitely worth a look um our review of that speaker is imminent um yeah yeah I would also say the Klipsch 600m yeah they they have gone way down in price I think they're like 650 a pair right now excellent buy um and if you want to go even cheaper but stay with Klipsch the R50 bookshelves 51 51 are m51s or 51ms something like that we reviewed the them we did like a mini side review if you Google the 800 F uh review yeah we didn't like those which happened this year yeah we went out and bought the the other smaller bookshelves that are less expensive um and really enjoyed those yeah far more than the towers yeah so try those uh let's see here oh I want to highlight this question but thank you for your support Gotham but it looks like you retracted your message and now it won't let me at least throw your name on the screen so maybe you wanted to remain anonymous what did they say they didn't say anything they retracted but they they still contributed and I appreciate that very much Owen Roberts ignore the naysayers you're both great watching as I'm walking home from work keep up the good work well thank you Owen please be safe as you walk um Gotham again um okay if you see g-o-u Gotham Gotham uh if you see anything from this nice gentleman uh please let me know because it says message retracted but I don't know that's something they've done okay we we can't unless yeah we wouldn't do it unless it was rude okay Glenn writes are you aware of anyone that can build new crossovers for vintage speakers I'm not aware of anyone where that's like their jam I would assume any high five Vintage Repair Shop could likely take the original spec or what they see in the speaker now and either recreate it or modify it um I'm sure there's a couple people in the comments that will recommend somebody for you but I don't know anyone off the top of my head nor can I kind of steer you in any direction um unfortunately sorry uh Tariq writes hi would you have you repurposed an old AV receiver as a power amp was it worth it I have not done that I have not done that so I do not know if it would be worth it um yeah unfortunately I don't I don't have an answer to that question sorry Chris writes I want a blue sound power note I have a PS5 I watch movies and listen to records What speaker is best to pair ls50 meta or can I get something bigger um you you want a blue sound power node or you have a bluesound power node or you want to just pair power node with the ls50 metas I mean great pairing great pairing I would suspect that the power node could probably be fine with maybe one of the smaller R Towers also from Kev um I'm trying to think of all of the various speakers we've put the Power node on um because it is one of those where it's deceptively uh deceptively powerful um I mean the metas would be great the metas would be great if you can swing something larger maybe look upwards in the kef line if that's something that you already know that you like uh obviously we're big fans of the R11 meta you do not have to go to that extreme but there are smaller more affordable Towers in that line that I'd have to imagine are going to sound every bit as good as the r11s that we have they're just going to be on a slightly smaller scale and your power node will probably be just fine let's see here uh CRM uh Andrew you're fixed for my wandering subwoofer worked yeah yeah I am a believer in washer pucks and blue tack thanks have you reviewed Zoo speakers I'm interested in the dwx as they can floor mount on a wedge I have reviewed Zoo speakers but only back in my print days so if you Google my name and Zoo Omen death uh you will find a review that is the only speaker I believe that I've reviewed uh I know nothing of the dwx I'm assuming that those are popular right now because other creators are talking about them because zoo is a brand that boy I have not heard anything from until just recently so hopefully um they're doing great and they're back on the you know back on the rise with with popularity because back when I reviewed them gosh I think the omen deaf review was 2007 and they were you know they had some notoriety around that time but um boy I hadn't heard anything out of them until just recently so I'm so glad that those washing machine pucks continue to to work for everybody uh they are a great life hack Jaren been watching your video Hi-Fi in a small space thinking of getting the Kanto Sid any updates to that vid or better suggestion for speakers oh the settles that the kind of this yeah yeah yeah for a second there I'd be like um I mean I don't know what your budget is but if you're looking for something that will work for music that has that kind of all-in-one Factor uh the name muso muso 2 is phenomenal as an all-in-one music system and it even has built-in streamers like it name Unity Adam with an awesome sound bar attached to it it's a bit expensive though I think you would be better off with maybe a pair of powered speakers you know traditional like two yeah you could go Klipsch fives Clips sevens um anything from Kanto you could go Kanto um you could go Kanto y U6 yu-4s uh Kanto tuck T even the Sonos uh whatever those things there are three era that everyone hated us for that review I I liked film yeah there were just some quirks about them that I think if you need to have any sort of wired connection to them they're not the speaker to get so for their price I thought the quirks are a little bit of an annoyance but yeah overall the sound was enjoyable it was fine I mean you can get kef LS X's depending on the size of your room those are I mean if it's a smaller he's talking small space here small space so in a small space the LSX works and I think they're on sale the ls 52s are fantastic they're also on sale right now um so yeah I mean is the Sid good it's a great it's a fun little speaker absolutely um don't don't overlook sound bars either in that instance I mean a Bo Sound Stage um is I mean it is going to be more than a sid but that's going to be phenomenal in a small space and let you do Atmos yeah and we're also we're testing the the Sony um oh my gosh it's just it's a uh s 200 S 300 something like that no no is the a7000 it's a little bit more expensive and I realized but I think it's pretty decent it's on sale I'll I'll add it to you yeah in the chat box so you have a couple things to check out yeah yeah so there's there's some options there uh hi from the UK great channel would be great to see you review PMC speakers DCS Dax and high school Heigl amplifiers I would not say no to any one of those three brands I would happily review whatever we could get our hands on for many of them um DCs boy they make some really high-end digital Front Ends don't they um we were very impressed like I said we were at this retailer uh that had was a DCS dealer and they were excellent absolutely excellent maybe a bit Overkill in some instances at least for my needs but unquestionably fantastic uh streaming digital front ends um PMC call me I'm happy to take a peek as for high gold boy no comment man no I I I'm waiting like we've we've asked no we're tired we're we're done we've tried we're done we have we have spent over a year sending them emails and initially they would reply and be like oh yeah yeah we'll Circle back and then they never do and we don't ever get a press release so we you know anytime we hear about something new you know through the internet we'll reach you know reach out and it's like come on and still nothing and it's like I'm not we're we can't continue to chase down some of these Brands like they clearly have a reason yeah why they don't want us to review something I just draw the line at being unprofessional that you can't even bother to respond yeah I mean with whatever legitimate reason it is even if it's not legitimate just like my last my last message to them was at this point I would just like to know whether you want to work you want you want us to review your product or not I would just like to know if it's a no like what are the reasons um and not because I judge him I just I I get it maybe we're not we're not everyone's cup of tea or maybe we're not the type of audience that they want to reach I mean I personally would argue that that argument doesn't hold uh much water but hey if that's what they want to do I I can't force somebody to put their products out there for review on this channel but um yeah we've spent a lot of man hours trying to get them included here at your guys's request and they yeah yeah uh thanks for the professional entertaining and high quality reviews what is your opinion on Marantz 8015 versus Cinema 40. I believe that was answered in our 8015 review um 8015 was the first receiver that I felt from Marantz that it was equally good stereo to home theater and near as makes no difference I didn't hear with the speakers that we had at the time of that review uh when we directly Abed the 8015 against the cinema 40 I did not hear enough of a change in Sonic anything like I could achieve the same level of results from the 8015 as a stereo in Stereo mode as I could with the cinema 40. I preferred the the look of the cinema 40 um the smaller stature of it and for two channel it it fit my needs but if I was running a hybrid system 80-15 versus Cinema 40 I mean 80 15 all day you know she knew all of the surround sound formats you can do HDMI switching uh you had room correction the whole nine but I also said that in our Cinema 50 review that if you want the latest greatest 8K and Dirac and all that then you need to look at the cinema 50 and those are things that the 8015 are never going have TM sorry for the mess up earlier over the many years of your Hi-Fi career have you found a point of diminishing returns on hi-fi gear oh absolutely absolutely um not sure what mix-up was earlier oh they had done a super chat but there was no question okay well I'm glad that we uh we reconnected uh yes I think that there are price points where things start to get a little bit murky for me I think it's really easy to hear differences uh in products I'm gonna focus on loudspeakers because that is where you're going to hear it likely the most um it is easy to discern differences in products going from 200 to fifteen hundred dollars um once you break 1502 Grand gets a little harder to hear differences between two grand and say four to five that's a real murky area because you can have a five thousand dollar speaker that sounds amazing and then here comes a two thousand dollar pair of speakers that honestly is not that radically different and so you could argue like oh the diminishing returns is two grand and i would support that right however then you can get up into say 75 to 10 000 pair of speakers where it's like holy crap this is a leap from say a five to six grand speaker to a 10. then I think you're in a real no man's land um past 10 grand then we're starting to talk about things like what else are you getting for your money and that can be ownership experience service um quality of the materials fit and finish customization of the fit and finish because honestly and I'll just go back to our the million dollar system example it's not that the million dollar system didn't sound like a million bucks it sounded amazing but I don't think that if all things being equal and I was able to put the million dollar system in a blind setup with the hundred thousand dollar system that was in another room and literally if I could like kind of harm and blind test them where they have literally a robot that just pushes one forward and back you know so you can a b things that fast I'm not convinced that statistically enough people are going to choose the million dollar system over the hundred thousand dollar system both can sound exceptional and both can come with different degrees of Excellence but on the whole um I don't I don't think you're going to pick one of the one over the other and I think once you get past around 20 maybe 30 000 price points then you're really buying kind of something else and I don't necessarily believe that it's always performance you might be buying exclusivity you might be buying better service you might be buying warranty or just the the the esoteric or um bespoke nature of a product and that's really what you're about there's nothing wrong with that there's absolutely yeah I want to yeah there's absolutely nothing wrong with that unfortunately there's a there's a lot of people in the community in the community that want to create this divide between what someone would call Budget or cheap gear versus the very very high end and in a in an attempt to vilify one group or the other yeah when the reality is is just just do whatever it is you want I mean as Andrew was saying like I I heard the Wilsons for the very first time I heard some of the most expensive year I've ever listened to did I enjoy it of course yeah of course I did but you know what we got back home and we had just received a very in by comparison a very affordable pair of speakers and uh you know we're listening to a very affordable receiver again all all in context yeah and I had just as much fun yeah and I think if you're it really does depend on what your focus is if you just want to enjoy music or movies or whatever it might be you could probably be happy with just about everything yeah and but yes with money and experience there is a possibility that you could maybe outgrow the more budget natured products that doesn't mean that they're better it just might mean that you're listening for different things or maybe you're looking for something different Yeah a different experience a different finish option I mean I know that there's a lot of people that think say those things don't matter well for some people they do and you just have to really know who who what you what kind of listener you are I've said that a hundred times and what's important to you and be content in that decision be content in that decision and understand that it's going to be different for everybody and what people choose to do with their time their hobby or the money that they want to spend on said things is irrelevant and unimportant it really is it's it just is all right good question though let's see Marco Sony an1000 or Onkyo NR 7100 for Klipsch RP line Onkyo has Dirac and more watts but Sony has the spatial sauce is it so game changing how does direct compare to Sony's calibration um for me for me um an1000 Clips RP line yeah both both receivers will be fine um the unfortunate thing about Sony's spatial sauce is They Don't Really share exactly what it is they're doing and I know that they are using a graphical EQ system as part of the process whereas direct uses more of a parametric EQ system and we could debate long and hard over which one of those is better I know in a call with Sony after our review I raised the question it's like why did you go graphical and they argued that with a 31 band graphical EQ that they control they can get in into finer degrees of adjustment and maybe that's part of the quote spatial sauce I think the other thing about what Sony's doing is that they are including a lot more um reference data points uh albeit ones that you have to enter manually whereas direct kind of uses it the same way where it's like oh you just put a microphone multiple multiple places and then based on the time delays of where the microphone is placed that's what it does whereas the Sony is very much kind of like no no no we're doing it with a ruler to one spot and we're judging the height of your television to your ceiling Heights to this and that which one is better I don't know I I mean I would have said prior to say three four weeks ago nothing so far surround sound wise has touched our 7000 ES uh but the cinema 40 on now my fourth my fourth go around with it and dialing it in and experimenting with it I'm getting close I'm getting really close and the cinema 40 does some things that the Sony doesn't where I'm kind of like ooh that's nice you know so I don't know I mean you're asking about the Onkyo I mean Onkyo is just solid dude it is it's just it's a really solid piece so I think you would be happy with either um if you are really making sure or wanting to have the utmost control over adjustments you're probably going to want to go with the 7100 that's my that's my take uh someone wrote uh I can't highlight it oh there it is Michael writes definitely agree with you all on audience etiquette I know right uh Jerry the dime hi Andrew and Christy any thoughts on the sound signature differences between the accu-phase and luxman and Yamaha I'm in the market for a retro looking analog only integrated cannot help you there and I feel terrible I feel terrible this is one of the things that just bugs me um I I appreciate your support and no one wants to give you an answer more than me but Accu Faison luxman another two brands that don't really want to send anything well we don't need to explain it we've explained it in every live stream but you always get it wrong I don't get I just said they don't send product they don't send product because at least was it luxman they want to control who we can also talk and or link to in said review and we don't allow any brand to do that no other brand has made that uh request to the best of my knowledge and so we treat everyone the same and if you don't want to play by the rules that everyone else has to play by it's not something we bend over backwards for so in this instance because I have no real uh experience with accu-phase or luxman outside of retailers uh I'm gonna say Yamaha I'm just Yamaha wins what the differences are no idea I'm so sorry Joey I really am uh hi there I'm from Brazil and here prices have different correlations the receiver Onkyo 6100 and Denon 2800 age have the same price which would be the best choice oh no idea um subjectively I'm just gonna say that I I prefer onkyo's newer receivers to what I've heard from Denon so far I do understand that there are some new denims that just came out fairly recently and we are still waiting for our our turn with their flagship but um Denon is good I just me on a personal note I prefer Onkyo so same here yeah that's that's the best I got for you I would uh and if you're able to find one the rz50 has been discounted recently yeah so that's where I would stop I would start there with the and within the Onkyo line I think that that is going to be that of the 7100 because they're kind of interchangeable um the best long-term solution yeah or take a look at the Sony um five thousand yeah five thousand es or 7000 es yeah depending you know depending on when your prices are in your area yeah yeah Eric any plans reviewing open baffle or purify based speakers none at the moment none at the moment not that I would say no it's not that I would say no but uh there are no open baffle uh plans on the radar but thank you for your support ah did I finally catch up no there's no way oh nope Klipsch 5 or rm51 powered active speakers for desktop I have not heard the 51 powered so I'm gonna say Clips Five they do load base so I wouldn't be surprised if you're closer to a boundary if you may need to plug or somehow obscure the rear-facing port on a pair of uh Clips fives that said the app is now fully functioning was not when we reviewed the files but we did go back and revisit that in our uh seven and nine review and the app is also fantastic with the fives in helping to tune that loudspeaker so Klipsch fives gets the vote for me Bodhi boat face not enough to ask questions we'll ask immediately after Bodhi writes style question the matching stands for my R3 meta indigo blue are hard to come by the other options are mineral white or slate gray which look to be available always uh okay and he follows that up with which do you think would look better with the indigo blue um boy I I don't know that indigo blue is striking it is man that thing that that is a good look but boy yeah I can see what you guys are what you're referring to I actually think that maybe a black stand would look better with that particular blue that they have uh other than that I might go with the gray I think the white the white could be the weird one I think I don't because it's it's it's it's it's such a rich blue and then it has that yellow accent in the driver is he talking about matching Stand The Stance the blue matching stands are always out of stock and I think he wants to get stands and so the gray or the whites are in stock and I'm saying I would probably lean towards a darker color with that indigo blue or maybe the raw ones from solids he's not talking about solid steel stance he's talking about oh you're talking or you can go with the third party and go solid steel uh which is what we use for all of our speakers uh let's see here demand I live in Austin I've grown tired of it what made you move out of Austin and did you live here during the 90s when it was really hip and cool I did uh when what he deems as the real Austin um yes I was I'm gonna take a drink here this is about to get we're about to lose a hundred followers go well I don't know why you would say that I lived in Austin in the uh starting in the late mid-ish like late mid to late 90s and I was there for school at UT and the city has definitely changed quite a bit I it I did miss the that sort of sense of what old Austin used to feel like um but then again you know I also enjoyed some of the more modern touches that came in the later years with restaurants and shopping and stuff like that you know every city goes through an evolution the thing that is difficult about living in Texas not only are the politics ridiculous um but property taxes are absolutely insane I have a friend that still lives there that was complaining on Twitter about how a three tube house in Austin she found something on the you know Zillow or whatever for like just under five hundred thousand dollars and I'm like that sounds like a steal and I know that's a lot of money for a lot of people but when you start to look at what houses costs what houses cost anywhere these days but Austin and being one of the more I'm gonna I mean I'm not even using the word like I'm coining it it's been called this it's one of the most overvalued markets in the last three to five years and it's why it's also seeing one of the larger Corrections at the moment um although inventory continues to still be down and prices still continue to be high despite a 13 to 23 percent reduction in price but it was it's just it's just gotten difficult more and more difficult to be able to afford to live there even if you've lived there for a long time and maybe you were like me and have the opportunity to buy a house back when Austin was more affordable to live that doesn't mean that it's still cheap because your property taxes are absolutely through the roof now as far as leaving or deciding to leave I had just lived there long enough you know I'd lived in Texas all of my life leaving Texas was something that I've wanted to do since I was a teenager and I just finally finally had the opportunity opportunity to do it yeah and Andrew was a big help with that so I don't miss it not even a little bit um but you know I don't either I can tell you I couldn't get out of there fast enough I coming from California I was told how great like inexpensive and whatever like the South would be and I call I've called the South home two different places in the South home uh for a good portion of the last 10 years and nothing cheap about it and Bruce Barnes asked isn't there there are no income tax wouldn't that balance it out and that is true there is no state income tax in Texas or Tennessee where I lived and yet there was if when you consider that you could own a house in California like say in La for example a multi-million dollar home you are going to pay less taxes on that house then you will a seven hundred thousand dollars in Austin an under million dollar house in Austin that's just the property taxes eat people alive and they really push people out you know you just can't like I said it doesn't matter whether you own your home outright or not you at some point it unless you're doing very well for yourself it becomes really difficult to live there or even rent a house yeah to somebody else you know as a like an investment property or whatever yeah um it's just it's yeah the whole the whole idea of no income you pay for it in plenty of other ways sales tax you still have crappy roads poor education systems I mean there's there's no infrastructure in Austin or Texas as a state I mean if it gets too hot they lose they lose power if it gets too cold they lose power um I lived in Texas all my life grew up in a suburb of Dallas and you know third I-35 has been under construction since the 90s yeah you know it's never ending and whatever anyway moving on yeah I I yeah I completely agree I completely agree fun tangent all right let's see and I got behind again uh the Dutch sandwich I mean come on favorite foods snacks or drinks you enjoy while reviewing stuff you guys are great thank you so much favorite foods um favorite foods is kind of whatever I make for dinner um snacks though oh the popcorn you're into that what is it called though it's it's a healthy popcorn smart pop it's really good it is good bagged popcorn yeah it's good it it works yeah and then Whole Foods 365 brand sells an almond butter stuffed pretzel bite and like you know crunchy little pretzel bites from the 365 brand those are killer killer little snack Andrew loves their uh brown butter chocolate chip if your Whole Foods does brown butter chocolate chip cookies I highly recommend you never put one in your face because they like drug dealers they put them right up by the register yeah most places have you know here's the the smut magazines and some gum and you know some certs or mints not Whole Foods Mother's Day cards cookies and like organic gum which is like eating it's just eat the wrapper just throw whatever the wrapper is around like throw whatever the wrapper's covering away put the wrapper in your mouth you're gonna have a better time but the brown butter chocolate chip cookies oh cosign all day it is the reason why despite nailing my fitness goals every single week uh shout out to Colby at Tempo um spending six weeks crushing that workout it's why I don't have abs I have an I have an AB singular I don't have plural ABS because two three times a week partake in the brown butter chocolate chip oh and there's also the the bourbon you like by that that fighter guy oh proper proper 12 proper 12 uh yes that is arguably one of the better sub 25 uh whiskey Bourbons you know whatever you want to say um ever I mean ever and it mixes well with everything too it's like it's great on its own um it has it has uh taken over from uh it hasn't but for me I would rather drink that than my previous go-to which was either Buffalo Trace or Tin Cup in my experience well no but that's going up Market so I like it as well in my opinion you have to go to an angel's Envy or an Eagle Rare to 100 have like a different experience over proper 12 but you're also going to spend twice as much um Beyond Eagles Envy or Eagle Rare Angel's Envy Eagle Rare and they are the same company they're all buff Buffalo Trace um Brands beyond that if I'm going really up Market uh McAllen 12 minimum prefer the 25 and uh lagaboomin lagavulin 12 or higher but now you're talking a couple hundred dollars a bottle and for non-alcoholic drinks I'm we're both obsessed with Waterloo soda yeah it's way better than what is that crap your brother used to drink spin drip holy crap that was nasty Spindrift sponsors YouTube channels so there goes our opportunity Waterloo is weight Waterloo is way better and you know what yes we we did a couple of people that we follow and know um you know we're big on spin drift and we grabbed a box and I think we still have it we cracked one and it's just it's still sitting there anyway uh how does the sound quality change going up in price and digital class D I have a Technics 700 Mark II Kev R7 metas my Baseline how would you describe the difference between NAD m33 and r1000 well if you're going from a 700 Mark II to a one to an r1000 you're just going to get a little bit more of the same but with greater control probably just a little bit more finesse tightly or tight tighter Focus uh that all just stems from just that little bit more power and control and isolation of the various components inside the the chassis itself so I'm going to say that you're going to notice mildly better Dynamics uh mildly more spatial definition and just a little bit more clarity but on the whole I would not be surprised if you went from a 700 Mark II to the thousand and you went okay yeah I hear it and yeah okay that's cool but is it a 7 500 increase in performance that I can't say you know if all things were equal and money wasn't an object which one would I rather have I'd rather have the r1000 of course but the 700 Mark II is phenomenal M NAD m33 those that class D system that they use is completely different um and it's kind of design as a result to me I kind of feel like Technics products have been designed to have a bit of charm have I mean they're still very clean and precise but they probably don't measure as well or as perfectly as say an m33 and I think that you can hear that and so I wouldn't be surprised if you were to put the two together if like Technics people walk away from it going you know what that sounded like it had Soul whereas the m33 people were like you know what it's just like it's so precise it's so like and that's the thing it's like can I appreciate it yes I love the m33 for as a technical achievement I just as much as I want to be a person that's like hey you can't argue with perfection I guess you can because I still can't argue myself into making that particular amplifier a reference point despite it wholeheartedly deserving to be on a pedestal AKA reference point it's a weird thing man it's a weird thing all right Thor writes Sue what about sausages what will there be any in a future sausages no idea probably lamb sauce I don't yeah I have no idea there's been sausage talk in this sausage tongue so when I'm rambling uh to camera y'all are talking food no I just think it's a random one or two people that bring up sausage and I don't know it probably has a meaning somewhere and some deep dark corner of the internet I don't I don't know I don't know it doesn't matter I want to know now Alex writes I have a deposit down for the upcoming NAD m66 I hope they come out with a module for digital out the hell is the nadm 66 [Laughter] Alex what is an m66 NAD doesn't talk to us I don't know why um NAD I know why I mean it's because they're new likes oh they're yeah yeah came in and was like if you want to talk about anything Lynn Brook then you're going to have to agree to a one hour minimum discussion and then we'll let you know if you're if you make the list to then be considered yeah it's a not just a hoop yeah to be to jump through it's just one of those things where we don't know what the m6 I don't know anything about it is that like twice the m33 that amp didn't need twice the anything if anything I would take an m what would that be 33 would be what 16 and a 16 and a half hey NAD product idea yeah I need an M16 and a half I need you to just I need you to back off half of the the analytical side you know go ahead and add some Distortion and add some fuzziness you know make make the make the measurement Hawks go nuts they'll they'll they'll poop in their Pampers but the rest of us that uh you know don't mind a little imperfection here and there and think that that makes life interesting maybe we'll enjoy it I don't know Alex I'm so sorry that was a total random tangent 550 people in a chat reminder to like the video Margarita money always helps with the naysayers and the threats well thank you I really appreciate that uh I hope there's 550 people still watching oh man 5 45 is what I all right CRM says Christy the Americans was a great series and I loved hearing Roxy Music and the Sundays among the other groups my mother loves your Bose 600 recommendations oh I'm so glad that she's enjoying that and yes all the music in the Americans is pretty fun plus the Wardrobe I love everything that um what's her face wears the hair Felicity oh yeah um crud Carrie Russell Carrie Russell thank you uh her other Show on Netflix by the way oh her other Show on Netflix is Netflix the Diplomat it's Netflix that's a great show but yeah the Wardrobe and all the old cars oh my gosh just you know inject it into my veins love it all right bodhi's back with another question are you familiar with rega tables turntables interested in the planer two but only experience is with the 2m blue regas don't have order fawns do they have an equivalent I am I'm gonna say I'm not familiar with reggae tables um I am not minus the rega that was sent as part of that like package audio system of theirs we liked it right no it was fine it was it was fine that was the first experience with the reggae table that I had had in probably 20 years so I don't want to go out on a limb and uh give you bad advice wrong advice and full disclosure guys while I am still a vinyl lover I've really enjoyed the fact that I have not had to mess around with my turntable setup in well over a year so the only turntable I've been using is the Cambridge audio Alva ttv2 which replaced the V1 which found a new home with uh one of our dear friends and so that is the only turntable I use now I still have my Audio Technica and it still has the ordaphon lvb black cartridge the Ludwig van Beethoven cartridge and it's still great it's so great I just the um the Alva TT is just so Plug and Play set it and forget it Just Killer table that I have actually really enjoyed not having to be on the whole turntable roller coaster for a while so guess that's my review of the Alva TV too somebody was pretty irritated or confused by why we don't talk about CD players and subwoofers that you know you're a Hi-Fi Channel why don't you talk about those things and much like turntable reviews yeah I mean I can look I mean this is this is our job and there's no secret that we make our quote salary off of things that people want to watch and while we don't always we don't always Pander or to the things that we know people are going to watch we we do deviate here and there but you can't afford to spend the weeks and sometimes months that it takes to to to produce a video only to have a true handful of people uh watch it and while those handful of people would be very appreciative you know there's only so many things like if you you make your your job as you make a widget and it's a widget that you love like I love subwoofers um I I don't really care about CD players but I love turntables and I love subwoofers and those are things that I would happily talk about because they are of interest to me but at the same time if you make a widget at your office and while it is something that you like and it costs you x amount of dollars to produce it but not enough people buy it um in the in the hypothetical sense like you're not gonna you're gonna have to kind of change your strategy or you're going to have to maybe make less of that widget and and so for us it's like if I the same amount of time that it takes me to review say a Sony television as it does a clip subwoofer it takes the same amount of time I put the same energy and Care into it except a hundred thousand people watch the Sony review of the TV and 10 000 people watch the subwoofer I lost considerable amounts of time and energy and frankly earning potential making that subwoofer video and there's only so many of those that you can kind of eat for the purposes of you know making everyone happy before suddenly your your business model doesn't make any sense and I know that that's probably not a popular way to talk about any aspect of this Hobby and I know that it's something that we get criticized for and I know that it's one of those things that people look at channels like us and go see they're just a business and it's not not true we're not pay to play we're not one of those situations we don't allow Brands to pay for uh placement or anything like that in on this channel or one of the few if not the only channel that I'm aware of that doesn't allow that um but at the same time because we don't have that off setting our our costs our time or whatever we have to be really selective and we have to do things that we believe are not only going to be of value to you but that are also going to be something that find a broader appeal and that no doubt has to be one of the reasons why certain brands probably look at us and it's like oh they're not high-end they're not Hi-Fi they're not this they're not that yeah maybe maybe because we do talk about a lot of AV receivers or we will talk about sound bars or we will talk about Sonos era 300s maybe that is what keeps the Wilson audios of the world away because you know we're just not esoteric enough but on the flip side I will say this as with any business the goal is to reach people and well we do that pretty well so um that was a question that was you brought up well yeah it was somebody had asked about like audios new CD player would we review it and I'm like no and yeah we're unlikely to review any CD player and then I said you know can throw subwoofers in with that and then the response was I don't get it I thought you were a Hi-Fi Channel or something I'm just paraphrasing yeah we are and it's it's fair it's fair and I take the criticism I take the critique it's it's completely Fair um but that though that would be my answer as for CDs I literally have maybe five CDs and I only have them for testing purposes on the off chance that a disc spinner is in this house for whatever reason um I have like five reference CDs and I still have like a dozen uh discs of physical media now I have everything ripped to hard drives at the highest possible quality including Blu-rays um and I can reference that stuff the physical files bit for bit copies uh that way but as far as like oh I know I physically put a disc in a tray I only have five CDs and three of them I bought because I was able to buy the CD the record and the digital download at exactly the same time and so in the off chance that I need to be able to compare vinyl to CD to download I can but I'm not an avid collector like you there's there's not a hidden room in this house where we have floor to ceiling uh shelving and it's just Blu-rays and Jewel cases okay um thanks for your advice on room correction over a DAC amp I got a mini DSP Flex plugged it into into the power ends of my 600a made all the difference that's great that's fantastic I love that uh oh boy boy we are going in the Wayback machine what is your take on episode as a brand for architectural in-wall speakers I was one of the first people to actually review episode loudspeakers way back in the day when they first launched as a part of snap AV I don't know if they're still a part of snap AV or not um I absolutely loved their original line of products I have no idea what they are up to today but if you Google episode loudspeakers and my name you will find my old written reviews of that brand and if they're anything like what they were they're probably pretty good probably pretty good Kyle when it comes to Pure Atmos presentation would you and Christy say the A9 stands above all other all other sound bars you've heard how about the b o theater when it comes to Pure Atmos presentation would you increase the say the a not the a you must be talk or they must be talking about the Sony A9 oh no because I like the eight the bang Olufsen A9 doesn't do it's not a it's not yeah as far as no would you say the A9 stands above all other sound I wouldn't say that it's like it stands above it it does a lot of things that sound other sound bars haven't quite done um and I think the reason for that is the fact that you are still dealing with somewhat discreet speakers that you can then position further apart from one another it's specifically the two front speakers whereas a sound bar can throw sound and create a sense of spaciousness but there is still some localization that kind of always occurs with most soundboards the Sennheiser ambio uh Samsung 990 a b c d e f z whatever uh notwithstanding the b o uh bo Sound Stage in theater also fall into this camp that they start to come out of their shell and they kind of they can sound a little bit more not Tethered to the physical device but the A9 does that aspect of it arguably better than anyone so the bno theater was impressive it's it's expensive it's expensive but it was impressive very impressive didn't like that you had to assemble certain things in it that part I didn't care for but other than that it's a good product uh Bob I have a pair of Lumina twos paired with a Denon 600 NE Technics 1500c turntable and an Ever solo A6 I want to upgrade the amp with a three thousand dollar budget I'm looking at the Technics 700 Yamaha 1200 or Moran's 40n Technics easy uh I have to agree with my girl in the order with which you put them on you listed them I would go Technic 700m especially with the Lumina twos like that and the turntable you already have um Marantz 40n Yamaha 1200 you know what actually I'd flip it I'd go Technics Marantz then Yamaha because to me Technics in the Yamaha are are trying for that neutrality neutrality neutrality the Marantz got a little bit of character so if you want something different then you're going to have to go with the morants I think the Marantz and the Yamaha are somewhat interchangeable closer to yeah for me yeah um but the easy choice would be the Technics yeah I mean it's going to sound amazing yeah and we've had that pairing with your turntable yeah yeah chef's kiss ABX audio file another fellow YouTuber it's great Channel doing some really good things by the way guys go check them out okay bro beard is fire I'm a bit biased but love you guys great stream well thank you so much um yeah I'm not trying to grow it out I just uh didn't shave it down uh he's handsome either way but I will agree the beard is the beard is where it's at I tidied up I tidied it up sometimes he comes out guys and girls he comes out with no facial hair and I'm like whoa who are you yeah sometimes you just have to take it back down to formula and let it come back in although every time I do this this part here this part here and there's some spots here that get lighter every time I take it down to the skin showing my age Sean and I've noticed too like uh your temples right temples although your eyebrows I've wanted white walls for a while so I'm gonna let those go you know who looks great with wider hair Timothy Oliphant we knew that was coming we knew that was common but I have some stuff in uh that I got in the mail that to dye my eyebrows my eyebrows guys are like basically non-existent they're so blonde yeah they she someone you just got yeah I just got my hair done and I and they treated them I had my hair stylist dye my eyebrows yeah with the you know same stuff that she was putting on my hair and I came home or I came out of the salon and Andrew was like whoa and I'm like I know I need to keep doing this so I bought some stuff off of Amazon you can borrow it no no if you want there's no shame in it I I never said there was shame I never said I when it comes to excuse me when it comes to facial hair and hair on my head like I don't care what color it is I just care that it's there so I'm okay with going gray I am not okay with going bald so if this wants to turn gray silver speckled and this wants to do this knock yourself out go to town I am not ashamed of my age I just want it to still be there so uh uh wrinkles are fine although no wrinkles are fine wrinkles are fine I just need to get more sleep I need to get more sleep and not stare at monitors as much as I do because then my beady little eyes won't always look like I'm hungover but anyway we digress we always digress on this channel that's that should just be the name of the show we digress uh thank you so much for your support uh let's see here oh boy whoa what happened okay I'm going to assume that this is uh an exchange rate thing uh so one I am designing a new home and I'd like to have a Listening Room office in the same space every square foot counts in the construction price what would be the sweet spot for you for dimensions well I mean it really depends like kind of how much of a system you want like if you want a smaller integrated with a pair of bookshelves I mean you can get you can get by with a very small space but if you want to rock you know really large speakers and have concert level volumes you need square footage for that I can't tell you what size room to build what I can say is if you can avoid it do not build a perfect Cube do not build a square room make sure that your dimensions are not the same on all sides so 10 by 10 by 10 worst thing you could do you know eight by eight by eight worst thing you could do if you can go 10 by 15 more of a rectangle 9 by 15 with eight foot ceilings you can play with that and I'm not saying that those are the perfect dimensions and please don't jump in the comments someone else and be like I plug that into a room simulator that's going to be dog crap just know that you don't want a perfect Cube you want a rectangle if you can do it not to say that if you get forced to have to do a box that there aren't workarounds but if you can start with more of a rectangle um that would be great if you can go with a rectangle with no parallel walls meaning yeah it's kind of more trapezoidal even subtle but like it's narrower in the front and taller and wider in the back that's even better um that's even better but just try to avoid a cube at all costs without going broke all right oh no it jumped it jumped that's when I know I'm behind is when it freaking jumps oh boy oh my goodness oh I actually thought I was caught up and I am not that is very troubling okay Travis writes love the new intro thank you thank you I was very nervous about changing stuff because some of you guys for the last couple of weeks were like I would change the song week to week just to kind of gauge where everyone was at and it's like liked the old one better or new one's cool and it was kind of split 50 50. some of you guys would be like I hate the new song go back this will be like hey I'm digging the new Tunes so when we fully went with a whole new intro I was like oh please please please uh don't don't hate on it uh so thank you I really appreciate the feedback you know it's been a little surprising more that more people haven't take a notice of it it's only been on two videos one video I know but it's such a different it is very different it is very different so Marcus Marcus writes hi would just like to first thank you all for the great content YouTube put on where do you think the 8015 fares with the new receivers of today the 8015 is still very competitive in a fantastic receiver and if you own it or can get one uh today at just an insanely low price I would still advocate for it or I would still advocate for you keeping it the only thing that you may want to consider is if you're on the market for a receiver know that the 8015 will not enjoy any of the new performance benefits or compatibility that the cinema line Cinema 50 Cinema 40 blah blah blah have with respect to Dirac and higher end Odyssey stuff like that the 8015 will never get that the 8015 is also limited and it's ak-60 4K 120 capabilities that is very different from the cinema 50. but if those two things really are of no consequence to you the 8015 is still 100 amazing and comparable and competitive today 100 uh let's see here Dwayne gifting them memberships wow gift and then memberships doing love it Christian how does the kef r meta series compare to pearlescent I heard the pearlescent at an audio show and I was underwhelmed hoping it was just a bad room it could have been a bad room it really could have I I'm a big proponent of not judging any product you see or hear at a trade show and I know that that might seem like a luxury or you know that's really convenient for someone like me but I honestly I have I have been in the presence of gear that I know I love because I have it at my house you're you know going back years ago when I used to go to trade shows where I'd be like oh my God like I'm gonna know this system when I walk into like the Venetian because I've got BMW 801s or 800s and now they're doing a whole theater at CES with them this is going to be great and I'll admit to you I've gone into a CES show with products that I know very well and love and the CES show or Cydia or wherever I was it was completely underwhelming and there are moments where you kind of sit there and go well which one's right is it the underwhelming system at a trade show actually right and my system is wrong and it's the you know just try not to do that to yourself um as for underwhelm with pearlescent versus uh Kev I can understand those are two different flavors of loudspeaker um the pearlescence to me remind me a lot a lot of what Revel has done or was doing around the launch of the salon The Salon 2 era um I have not heard the new beryllium uh versions of whatever they have but back when the salons like per listen reminded me a lot of Rebel salons that I used to have per lesson on the whole reminded me a lot of just Harmon in general just like that kind of smooth goes well with everything um linear ish really controlled neutral speaker not that the kef isn't that but the kef does have a little bit of like something you know it's still very rural or flat too very neutral but for whatever reason it it maybe it's the more linear treble whereas the pearlescence do roll off a little bit um so they're going to be a little bit more polite if you will I don't know but I I love the pearlescent I really do I think they're fantastic I think the kef r line especially the armetta line now way better value way better value and 99 as good a speaker as the pearlescent that's just my two cents but listen makes a great product but that kef R line is the business let's see here cheeky sorry we're late love you both from Susie and Alex oh hello guys never too late never too late the wicked plumber gift and memberships man you guys are being generous today really appreciate it blue screen of Martin Logan ESL are they worth it over versus F-100 piano big room no sub prefer bright and thumpy well if you prefer bright and thumpy you need to get the f-100s um the ESL is not going to do it might do bright brighter it ain't gonna do thumpy um if you not to say that you know the F-100 is just a thud muffin it it can kind of be whatever you want it to be especially if you take the time to place it properly and if you need to plug the ports and all that hey Katie can you not hit mommy's microphone please sorry if you uh if you heard a thump because she's under the table here and I just saw Christy's microphone just blob Bobble and no doubt anyway um if you if you've got a big room you don't want to use a sub and you prefer more extended highs that also have some bass um I would go with the f-100s let's see Triple X recently heard a full BMW 800 D2 full Macintosh gear setup and was floored yeah what was what's a good alternative set up for Less oh man um well you just arguably heard in my opinion one of the better Hi-Fi Combos and setups probably ever made so how do we do that on the cheap well you can still Splurge for the speakers uh you could do what I did um I the 800 d2s I mean I had past Labs on them and Mark Levinson which are notably cheaper than certain Macintosh monoblocks but I also by amped my 800 d2s with and this is this is what's going to get me in trouble with the high-end crowd but I buy amped each uh um Bowers and Wilkins with Crown XLS Drive core amps so I had four of those and four of those ran me uh let's see three less than two grand and I had 2 000 watts of power or more going to each speaker and then I had that on I think I still had my mark Levinson preamp or I might have had a Krell I can't remember but obviously that's way cheaper than what you're describing now if you're like okay no the the 800 d2s are expensive um I mean you can just get their new 700 series it's not going to be quite the same but uh you can go there um yeah see this is one of those questions where it's like what you experienced um there wasn't just a speaker or an amplifier that was the Synergy of everything working together the right way and so it's kind of hard to say okay if I undo all of that how do I get it back you know with something completely different and it's like you know Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is an iconic movie because of the people who are involved in making it it's not that's why like when you go back and they're like oh they're rebooting this and you're like it's not not quite the same so-and-so didn't have their Charisma or they definitely you know it's like sometimes things are great because they just are and it's not something that can necessarily be replicated I guess is what I'm trying to say but man I bet that system rocked absolutely Rock no I want to hear it um Dwayne coming in hey fam setup system r700 Basics A2 and pt2 love it hours of listening thank you what do you recommend as the next appreciable jump for an amp pre-integrated thanks for all you do honestly you could keep it in the emotiva family and go to those hc1 monos which I know have a weird form factor but you will hear a difference keep your pt2 too just keep that for now you could go A2 to HC ones and that could be really fun especially with the r700s you will hear a difference [Music] um that would be probably what I did first and then get off the amplifier speaker roller coaster and then swap the pt2 out for can a mini DSP shd and treat that as your preamp DAC streamer and room correction and you will dial in the HC ones and the r700s to your room oh you're not ready dude that that'll floor you that'll floor you that's what I would do and and it shouldn't break the bank and then you can follow the videos I made about how to EQ your room and you'll be off and running let's see here Joseph thank you so much so oh Joseph I believe meant to attach something and I was just attempting to communicate with them to see if the comment I found was what they Joseph the speakers I'm currently using yeah that's the only thing I found so just go with it the speakers I'm currently using started off as a dbx sound field five that I modified do you remember dbx they used to be sold through Dak Dak catalogs in the 80s and early 90s PS love the channel I remember the name dbx but I honestly do not have any experience with that brand but the name does ring a bell you modified them huh what did you do what did you do I wondered but no I I don't I don't know anything about dbx other than to say that the name sounds familiar uh hey Victor listening through pentas P.O box pentas at the moment good speaker good speaker man I love those pentas they're so 80s early 90s that you could probably I mean I've seen them on eBay all the time and a lot of them are pretty banged up but you could put those out today and people given all the you know vintage retro any even an interior styling kind of going back to the 80s you could bring those out today and oh man you would be ah killer absolutely killer uh Milko great job Christy and Andrew is there a noticeable difference in sound quality between base Basics eight Basics A2 amp and xpa2 gen 3. um there is there is how noticeable is going to be up to the individual their room their setup Personal Taste whatever um but there is there is a difference um it is partially the reason why despite having Basics and xpa amps here at the same time uh several months ago and having the opportunity and the ability to call either one or both of them um our very own we stuck with the xpa I love the form factor of Base X I love the price point of Base X I'm not quite sure all the time how at least with the A2 how they're able to put that much in the A1 how they're able to kind of put that much performance at that price but that's just what they do but the xpa if you can swing it and you have the space because it is a notably larger amplifier uh is still kind of the brand emotiva the brands just it's what they do there's their entire line is is good they make a lot of good products but if someone were to come to me and say of all the emotiva products which one is like which one do you think is their best foot forward it's always been their xpa line of amplifiers and it continues to this day they are freakishly good and the fact that you can kind of customize them and build them however you want at this point because they've gone to a new kind of bladed architecture is awesome absolutely awesome David I want the Martin Logan xtf100 but may go for the B100 given the price Delta I have a good sub will I be okay with the b100s in a sub I think so I think so I mean that's what we did when we reviewed them you know and we put them side by side and yes there are going to be subtle differences and God I know when I made the B100 video or maybe it was another bookshelf video where I was just like hey man you get a good bookshelf and a sub you're in you're gonna be you're gonna be fine and I man no sooner did I make that video did I was I made aware that there were several live streams and other manufacturers like programming like no you must have towers and all this stuff it's like at some point at some point we have to kind of be okay with understanding that like is a tower going to be necessarily better or is it going to be more Fuller in certain frequencies that allows for more adjustability or or experimentation with where you want to cross it over blah blah yeah I get all that and I get that there you can you can look at charts and graphs and prove that this and that and it's like but at the end of the day when you're sitting on your couch you're listening to your favorite song or you're watching your favorite movie if a bookshelf in a sub is doing it for you and you're not hearing any gaps and it's it's all fluid and even you can even measure it and see that it's going well cares that at that point we have to be okay with stop talking and enjoy the show there's so much about this hobby where no sooner do you find something that makes you happy there's a million people trying to tell you you're not hearing what you're hearing or you can't possibly be happy with what you you put together and it just it drives me crazy drives me crazy oh yes if you have a good sub you already own it you've invested the money it's set up correctly it will blend with the b100s you will be fine you will be fine save your money sorry very passionate about that oh man all right let's see here guys uh looks like we are almost up but I've got a few more to catch up here Justin appreciate the support really do um jpk any AVR you like over the emotiva mr1l at sixteen hundred dollars in a medium room music first metal and rock have B2 plus two sets of A2 surrounds and a one a one plus okay so you've got all of the emotiva speakers is there an AVR that I like over the mr1l there are a lot of receivers that I like over the mr1l but not necessarily because I believe that they sound outright better or they power speakers better the one thing the Mr is that you sorry the dogs the one thing that the mr1l has to its credit is a phenomenal amplifier section and I'm saying this from experience it has a great amplifier section I love it powering speakers there are quirks and bugs with that platform the mr1 and the 1l that emotiva is aware of they are actively working to fix there are some new things that I have made them aware of and there are some things that honestly I don't understand how other people have not called these things into question um because they're not intermittent and I'm talking about things that relate to CEC HDMI switching signal sensing and Signal lock these are all things that emotiva is aware of and there are workarounds but they're not fixed yet so if you want a potentially absolutely trouble free experience there are a lot of receivers at around fifteen hundred dollars that I would recommend from a functionality standpoint as being potentially better for you but if we're just going off sound quality at sixteen hundred dollars around that price point the mr1l is incredibly competitive but I'm not going to give you any of my final judgments because that review a has not been committed to yet because still working on some freaking bugs um and two I don't want to spoil it but I do think they make a great power section or amplifier section in a receiver um hey oh my goodness hold on I have to I have to click a button here live chat I have caught up I have caught up jpk you are closing out the show that is I have one question I think that um that just came through which I think would be a good question to answer it's from Trevor chess chessel Chase okay as Hi-Fi reviewers do you see it yes I just highlighted it okay as Hi-Fi reviewers how do you ensure that you are protecting your hearing I have a bit I have been a bit careless lately and have had a BMW pitch pitched ringing in my ears um I I can just tell you what I do um I very very rarely listen where the volume is sustained at anything higher than about 68 to 72 DB now that doesn't say at those sustained volumes that Peaks won't go up above say 80 85. but I only punish the room the speakers the amplifiers with peaks in excess of 100 DB I will only punish them for like one scene and then I'll take it back down big and because to me 70 70 to 75 DB is plenty loud and not to say that you can't damage your hearing at that level it's just it's going to take a longer amount of time and it's not going to be as it's going to be more difficult to do um and I would say unfortunately if you're already hearing the ringing it's oh it's a little bit too late it's too late um the other way that we combat or or get by with less volume while still maximizing impact is at least when it comes to dialogue um having a setting inside our receivers uh where I can either hit a button because I've saved a preset that puts the center speaker up at you know plus three plus six DB louder than say the front left and right Mains that kind of pronounces over pronounces the voices that allows Christy to hear it a little bit clearer without everything else having to come up with it because sometimes the volumes she likes to listen to in order for intelligibility to be absolutely maximized in today's Mumble speaking culture uh is too loud for me and I I'm just like I don't want to watch at this volume for too much longer and it doesn't it's not to say that the speakers are fatiguing in any way it's just I realize the level of SPL that's being pushed in our Direction and I'm just trying to protect it you know I I recently did a uh an over the Internet hearing test with you know my my earbuds and I know that that's not fully holy scientific but thankfully it's been over a year since I did the last one but thankfully I have not lost any Acuity um it's a big fear of mine but I haven't lost any um and so my methodology is working I would be careful about playing your volume too loud especially when you're in your car that is probably one of the number one places where you're probably damaging your your hearing more than elsewhere obviously if you go to see live music you may want to use um you know the the uh the earbuds that help prevent um earplugs earplugs jeez yeah those things and I think they make fancy ones you know if you want to go to a concert that won't there's way too much from your experience yeah and Keith has kind of a follow-up question here um this is a good conversation how how much does hearing loss take away from Hi-Fi I work construction it can take away a lot to be perfectly honest and it's not I'm not saying that like to pass judgment but it is important because if you lose any frequency at all you you're it's gone it's gone now most people lose the high frequency in which case they will often say you know things like for example I find the Polk r700s have no top end you know I look at that and I go well they do roll off about two and a half three DB from like 10K on up but I wouldn't say that that's no top end but then you know people start to tell you their story a little bit and it's like I wonder if you the person in this hypothetical situation doesn't have hearing loss from like say four or five K on up that is say two to five DB down from hearing those frequencies right well if that's who that's if that's what your ears are doing then if a speaker has a two to three DB dip on its own now all of those frequencies aren't two or three DB down there five to eight DB down and now that can be really soft and tone controls where you take the treble and you juice it may not be enough to bring it all back or if it does bring it all back it's bringing it all back with a freaking Smorgasbord of distortion with it too and then you're also like well that doesn't sound good and then all of a sudden it's like do you blame the speaker do you blame the EQ or like we were talking about with the BMW system not a few minutes ago we have to look at the hole and it's the Confluence of all of these things that are leading us to have a poor experience and that isn't to say that the solution to hearing loss is to go get a bright speaker or one that juices the treble because hearing doesn't work like that you know sound doesn't tend to like want to work like that all the time it's not like oh I I don't hear anything from you know or if I turn up something a tone a tone or test signal at 8K 8 kilohertz if I turn it up really loud then I can hear it so what I need is a speaker that at 8K is 6 DB hot so it it's not quite like that uh it should be on paper like that would make sense but not everything kind of coalesces and works like that so it can it can matter a lot um and you just have to kind of know that I think there's I think there are people out there in this Hobby and I'm not saying that they're like creators writers just the general I'm just going to say the general fan base there are people out there that have hearing loss or they have square rooms or a little bit of both they sit five feet from a speaker they sit too far away from the speed there's a lot of things but a lot of enthusiasts don't want to attribute their poor experience necessarily to themselves and it starts with us like if I know I have hearing loss I probably need to be okay with like oh yeah you know I need I'm going to tip that treble up as high as I can get away with and understand that even if I tip it up and it's kind of distortion and crunchy that's my life now you know and that's not something that I need to get on like a message board and be like this speaker company sucks ass it's it's not it's just your personal experience given some deficiencies that you may have and the same is true for like people are like you know this speaker there was this huge gap between the mid-range and the bass okay I have a question where were they set up oh I put them on my desktop The Sounds didn't have enough space to come together like just slide your chair back three three to five feet I mean certain things are in manuals for a reason you know and so just because you can fit something physically in a room or just because you are physically sitting in front of something doesn't necessarily mean for one reason or another can be your hearing it could be the setup itself doesn't mean that you're going to achieve the experience that either you've heard about the manufacturers told you you should have or both and so we have to look at all of it and really go okay because like I've said on this live not on this one but on previous live streams I've said throughout my entire career what's more likely that the vast let's let's because if you if you go around an enthusiasm if you go around enthusiasts too long there's five companies that can do no wrong and there's 50 companies that are out to F you what's more likely that five people have the magic solution to everything five brands have the magic solution everything and these every other brand wakes up getting dressed taking a shower kissing their kids going to work and as they're they get in their car they look in the rear view mirror and they go you know what self you know what I'm gonna do today I'm gonna make garbage I'm gonna make absolute trash in fact I'm gonna make the the trashiest trash the trash is ever trashed it's you know and I know that people look at places you know Brands like Klipsch or whatever and they're just like can they not make a good speaker do you really think a brand lives for 50 plus years by making quote the worst things ever moreover how come no one explain or can explain in these instances where everyone is just so universally just like they're garbage and here's the measurements to prove their garbage okay but then how do you explain the equal number of measurements or experiences from Happy customers well all those happy customers and all of those measurements are crap these people don't know anything okay you know it's like we gotta calm down a little bit with some of this stuff and realize that there is a there is very much a correlation between what you physically can hear as an individual which is going to vary for everybody the physical space you're playing with in your room how you can and cannot set something up and then ultimately how influenced are you going to be well yeah I mean I was going to say that there's a meme out there that um oh my gosh what is that actor you've been said you uh Tom Hardy is it Tom Hardy yeah that people way back in the day when we first started the channel Walmart Tom Hardy yeah there's a meme of him where he's pointing above and it's like that's bait the amount of times you the the audiophile community gets baited into some of these discussions by channels like ours or the forums that you go visit I mean they know what buttons to push the topics that just get you riled up yeah and that's what they're they're that's the point the point is to get you to keep watching and sometimes that means making you upset or trying to get you to climb on board the train of let's Hate Everything let's hate everything or only like my brand of being right and it's just like at the end of the day movies music it's meant to be enjoyed it really is it's meant to be enjoyed and while we all want to enjoy it at the highest possible level if at some point the journey to get to the highest possible level makes the act of watching something that was made for the purposes of enjoyment unenjoyable you've done it wrong you're done messed up because there are times where like when I say or when you say in our reviews like are we privileged in our position 100 percent yes do we have access to darn near anything and everything yes do I love having cost No Object stuff or call it Hi-Fi or home theater jewelry yes like I loved having the Marantz separates at 14 Grand minus the heat that that class D ant put out which still to this day makes no sense to me minus the heat it put out that system hauled ass it was awesome loved it there are days where I still wish it was on the bench now we went from that to I think a 900 receiver not like back to back but that was the next receiver we did like a 900 receiver I don't remember which one it was um did I suddenly turn on all of my demo tracks my favorite movies and go well life just took a dump in my mouth you know I can't listen to this dribble anymore no no not at all the Megs still ate the shark and it was still like ah you know so it's it's come on you know like at some point you kind of want to just you kind of want to not only yourself but things that you see out there in the world and you and you just kind of want to grab it and go quit being dumb you know quit being dumb like yeah let's not make the business let's not make it our business or the the Hi-Fi Community as a whole let's not make it our task task to make everyone else unhappy like when we say we listen to a million dollar system it's not hyperbole I truly believe give or take 10 grand the total system price was a million bucks did I enjoy it sure was it impressive hell yeah was it like holy crap that artist is giving me a lap dance because they're they're right there hey you know but it's impressive because not every system can kind of do that not every system can make a singer materialize in three-dimensional space let alone put them five feet off your face like that is impressive but as Christy said when we come home and we're sitting in front of our I think that when we came back home the total system price was maybe closer to four grand five grand did I go to that experience and and and go oh no what a letdown what a letdown no not at all not at all and so is that diminishing returns I don't think that's diminishing returns I think that that's just enjoyment can be had at every level so long as you allow yourself to enjoy yourself and that is the one thing that I wish I could fix about this hobby is the fact that we have gotten it in our minds that there is a direct correlation between what you have or how much money you spent and enjoyment the two were completely unrelated can you get better performance by spending more yes will that better performance equal better enjoyment 100 percent not necessarily for the same reason I have a stock four five six seven speakers stock came with the Volkswagen Atlas that we drive everyone asked me on Instagram you have any new car audio you're gonna replace this no no because you know what my phone syncs to my Atlas perfectly every time a little bit slow but it does and I enjoy it and I'm never in the car long enough where I would feel that the investment in better speakers was worth it but I never walk out of my car going that is unlistenable garbage there's plenty of times that I'm like hey I really liked that song that Apple just served me in the car and I'll come in here find it in my history add it to my playlist or whatever and listen to it here and go oh yeah oh yeah there's a lot more here there's a lot more here and I am appreciating it and maybe enjoying it more but that isn't to say that I hated it in my car so enjoyment and performance or enjoyment and yeah Hi-Fi are two completely separate things and we need to put more enjoyment back into Hi-Fi and worry a little bit less about like the the the the the the genital measuring of well this has this percentage of of uh Distortion whereas this thing has this percentage plus plus of no distortions so uh you have to pick it otherwise not only are you an idiot but your family's dumb your kids that aren't even born yet they're guaranteed to be stupid and your dog's ugly too everyone knows it you know that attitude's got to stop that's gotta stop so anyway so someone says that you was it the short um listening to a million where'd it go dang it listening to a million dollar system for a short time you know you can't judge it if you're only listening for a short time where did that go I got it I here it is yeah Mr rocktuga you cannot judge the real performance of a one million dollar system on a relatively short demo we were in front of that thing we were in that store for well for almost two hours um granted we did not spend two hours in front of the million dollar system but I will say this it was not my first million dollar system experience it was mine it was Christie's it was not my first at my Peak have I had a million dollar system in my home that I lived with long term I don't think I've crested a million dollars um half a million yeah for sure for sure um and I've had systems that cost five hundred dollars is the half a million dollar system gonna do things a 500 system can't you betcha you betcha any better it better because if it doesn't what are any of us doing here um but that again I go back to I was able to enjoy myself equally and if that's hard for people to understand or that's a pill that certain people don't want to swallow that's okay that's okay and it's important to understand that that's a hundred percent fine but I can tell you hand a heart it is possible for me to enjoy 500 system as it is at 500 000 system or a million dollar system and you know I'm I'm not naming names and I'm not poo pooing on this retailer because they were exceptional and they were very nice and I would encourage anyone uh who may have figured out who I'm talking about uh to go check them out that said they have probably a hundred some odd thousand dollar system in one of their rooms that in my humble opinion and I kind of think that the person the sales person that was helping us through our journey uh he he knows that he's aware of that he did call out certain deficiencies but it's set up wrong like it loads base like a mother effort and it is potentially something that someone going into that room is going to find like oh wow because it is impressive at first like the first time we heard it you're like damn where are the subs and it's like no subs required but then you listen to tracks three and four and five and you're like no no it that's room loading that's it stopped being impressive and now it's like okay that that's room loading um and it's just you know slack of the draw sometimes it's like I mean they had sorry did they have a pair of actual million dollar speakers set up in like uh they weren't set up for demo they weren't set up for them they were like on a pedestal as you entered but those speakers I believe just the speakers were burmeester speakers they were are they the ones that when we walked in I was like nope no those were sorry Martin Logan those are the Martin Logan uh neoliths those were the neoliths you walked in and went what the and I'm like it's they're they're big uh no but these were like burmeisters just absolute Flagship speakers they're probably 10 11 feet tall easily four feet deep um the salesperson said that they weighed like a thousand pounds each and I believe that they had probably a street price just on the speaker side of maybe close to a million dollars I know magiko just made like a million dollar speaker and and you know what great great more power to you more more power to you I don't begrudge anyone you want to make a million dollar speaker go for it go for it and if you want to buy a million and if you want to buy a million dollar speaker do it do it life is too short to worry about what other people think yeah yeah but to say that you can't judge something in a 20 minute span or a 30 minute span maybe judge is the wrong word you know maybe that's the word we need to kind of address like judge is the wrong word can I determine for myself if this is something that I want for myself in 20 or 30 minutes yeah yeah I can do that that's not a judgment on anything that's just me going you know what this isn't for me I would rather have the smaller Wilson you know because it just does it for me for a myriad of reasons sound being only one of ten factors um so yeah anyway I think a person can judge for themselves if something is for them uh in however long it takes them but uh yep Anthony you are going to wrap up our show today Sir Anthony good morning from New Zealand you and Christy made a few hundred dollars out of the 1 million from the 10 minute demo well done you and Christy made a few hundred dollars out of the one million I don't understand it either and I'm I'm sorry Anthony you're a good person we appreciate we appreciate it we appreciate it uh thanks right now yeah who's who's still with us anyone C.W MCC pains me that I can only like this discussion once in so many things of our time thoughtfulness in most all kindness are so rare yeah yeah that's a nice that's a nice comment yeah all right well guys sorry Wishbone sorry Wishbone just got back after a work call I cannot believe you are still going yeah we're we're we are we are wrapping it up it's over it's over Wishbone you're too late all right and yes David B is right please hit the Thumbs Up Button if you you know what even if you didn't like it do it anyway yeah I mean what the least you could do is hit the thumbs up button on a two-hour stream two and a half hour stream yeah hit hit that like button um guys I I really appreciate it I I do I I have a lot of fun with these I hope you guys have a lot of fun with these obviously we get on tangents I I don't have my usual you know time to sit here and really compose my thoughts I apologize to a few um uh super chats where I'm just like I don't have an answer I that always that's my fear is like one of my nightmares is we're gonna do this and like y'all are gonna be so generous and you're just gonna hit me with one question after another or I'm just like but I'm gonna take all of the generosity you've uh shared with us and I guess I'm gonna go buy a luxman because we're going on about a year of this now I have a I have a question or sort of a poll answer in the comments oh um would you guys be interested in like a podcast where we talk about oh no the movies and stuff that we're watching Sounder oh gosh I think it would be fun oh yeah I think it would be yeah I think would anyone turn out I have no idea yeah we'll see oh we're getting a lot of yeses there you go hey uh members by the way well you know Arch it's the True Believers that are still here so yeah yeah for sure they're always going to be like more more um members there was a poll on the Community page for y'all if you haven't seen that uh when we sign off here make sure you Chris Lawrence stick with equipment Chris with the just coming in with the heat I forgot to bring my whip with me but you know when we're done right back to speakers and speakers nothing but speakers all the time actually after this I gotta go measure a TV I kind of I actually have to I still have work to do today I gotta measure a TV and uh I'm still editing I'm still putting final sound mixing on Sunday's video so I gotta do both those things before I call it a day as long as she Chris feltman Hey Brother as long as you do a full episode on the last Thor movie oh my God still can't make it through that still can't make make it through that video we we've talked about doing like a sort of a mystery science theater uh you know movie podcast or do you guys even remember that show yeah we just worry that we're gonna run into like copyright issues but then we were like what if we did our better than the director's commentary where we all start a movie maybe we do it live where we all agree like okay we're gonna hit play now you guys can see it we're gonna tell they do that there are some people that used to do it on Twitter there used to be follow-alongs and they would tweet along yeah but could you imagine you got your laptop open you got something on and you got my dumb face voice going you know what Chris is that would be hilarious if we only see in the back of Christy Smith do you know how many people would come for me with pitchforks if the one time she goes on camera it's just the back of her head y'all would lose your minds you would lose your minds oh my God the amount of people that have told me like it took me took me a couple of tries but I managed to hit pause right on the frame of Christy's face that you put in the video that's what she looks like I'm like she's been in videos before guys it's this different world now that we're where we are um so yeah anyway anyway anyway uh [Music] you guys don't have to worry we're still going to do equipment reviews members go to the Community page check out the poll I am very curious what you guys think of that poll and we had some new members today so I am curious about your answer as well um I'm not going to give you any more information than what's in the poll but yeah um other than that I don't think there's any other housekeeping things we you guys all saw the community post we are going to we'll be be with you every Sunday uh and then live stream every third Thursday ancillary content beyond that is going to be on a case-by-case basis so for now for now you can you'll see us every Sunday morning like usual but I am backing down on the Thursday videos but there's a lot of cool stuff in the works and hopefully if all goes according to plan um we will we will continue to go through this journey together and it will be even more exciting than it has been already so that's all I'm that's all I'm going to say um so yeah let's call it let's call it there all right so thank you all very much for joining us on this live stream I really I enjoy these I do I need to invest in some kind of better seat uh because if if we're gonna hang out for two three hours at a stretch I need to not sit on wood um so yeah as soon as I get feeling back in my legs I'll get productive but in the meantime I want to thank you all for watching I want to thank you all for all of your generosity and all of your support it it means the world to both Christy and I and you guys have just been phenomenal this whole time not even just on this live stream just in general you've been phenomenal and I really appreciate it we've had a lot of people new people that have joined us for the first
