hey guys it's john today we are playing a game called at dead of night a game that i don't know anything about other than you guys really want me to play it i've seen a lot of comments in the comments about playing it so i'm gonna check it out it's 15 bucks on steam it's an indie horror game you're caught up with literally everything i know is that a clown we'll find out let's go ahead and uh should we watch the tutorial i'd rather just dive right in i always have the most fun when i just go right in without expecting anything or knowing what the game's about [Music] oh this is fmv full fresh young faces therefore it takes and you're here for the music festival in town i presume yeah we were supposed to be camping there tonight but there's hardly weather for that is there could you make it less obvious that you're evil i don't think so we'll probably just get going that's fine and uh if you don't mind me asking maya would you be interested in uh the entertainment tonight tonight uh starts around midnight usually it's it's me doing it actually comedy i do this comedy character called a hugo punch now he's sort of this comedic sociopath says things that you're not supposed to say and that sort of thing it's quite popular with students i don't think so we're all just going to bed i think are you sure i can't twist your arm on this it's okay i'd rather just go to bed sorry you need to do jimmy show them who's boss that's the way to do it okay so this isn't at all what i was expecting you've got a candle right next to the lamp i guess in case the power goes out just seems a bit wasteful doesn't it that's it time to dive out the window i guess i'm sorry why is it locked oh you just had trouble with it are we leaving are we down in the lobby oh call the police of receiver its ghosts have a story to tell use the ghost and spirit receiver to talk to them okay they'll tell you jimmy's secrets [Music] but jimmy must hide the truth at all costs okay there he is my biggest jump scare this is the device you found select this switch to turn it on okay here we go select the switch oh it's like this to switch it on that's what i did it can detect spirits voices if you're near enough to them okay if you haven't seen it go to the menu and watch the tutorial video before you continue do we have to oh okay start conversations with spirits by asking introductory questions okay there's a lot to this try to make contact with the spirit use speak icon above all right when you meet spirits you can ask them questions pair their replies to make connections when you're alone you can review spirits replies here okay if there's no reply there are no spirits around a loud noise means there's a spirit and a high energy state near okay so is anyone there i mean they were just talking to me okay there's no reply so they're not here even though they were just talking is this point and click oh my god it is wow okay damn all right so we can't can we go in here i guess we can't you need to find a compass and scrying mirror okay let's just dive into this let's go okay this door is open so let's go this way what's in here an arcade time crisis three let's go so can you click on anything to like interact or i want to play wrestlemania okay let's go this way try door this is the front door you can find a compass yeah yeah no i understand that i need to find that let's try the stairwell door oh the stairwell door works okay we don't necessarily want to just go traipsing around to different floors yet let's find out if there's anything here this is the elevator called the lift okay so how many floors are there three floors there's ground floor lower ground one two and three we're on the ground floor right now um let's go let's go to the basement first the lower ground as it were see what's down here this is very well made i'm surprised i kind of was expecting okay so somebody's huh so the stairwell door is actually closed here okay i originally didn't want to watch the tutorial because i thought it was just going to be like a novel of text on the screen that i'd have to parse through and i didn't want to hold up the video but it's actually i've watched a bit of it it's actually you guys are going to want to see it too it's it's really well done so we're going to start from this one this will kind of tell you how the rest of the game is going to go and i'm actually pretty excited for it jimmy hides wherever he can around corners in the shadows waiting for you to arrive or sneaking up behind you he can't hide on the stairs or on the ground floor or in the basement so we're in the clear right now if jimmy sees you move away out of his line of sight okay pretty obvious i'm curious to see how that's gonna work in action you can hide in any unlocked room if jimmy comes in hide in a wardrobe or in the bathroom use the spyglass in guest rooms to see if jimmy is outside call out to attract him to control where he goes find room keys and drawers lock jimmy out of rooms this is awesome or lock him in if you can escape first quickly check rooms by looking through keyholes isn't that cool that's about where i stopped it so you could see the rest of it jimmy has a murderous past which we've gathered already his victims never left they still haunt the hotel use the spirit receiver to talk to them ask them about things you've seen and uncover their story high state may manifest physically low state voice can be heard okay energy could be increased by conversation oh okay then follow the flickering lights and listen for strange sounds [Music] use a compass to guide you where's the hell where the hell is the compass we need that when you're near keep looking around or keep still and watch ahead maya's talent maya can see into the other world oh [Music] move to a dimly lit place then use the mirror you will see the location of important items the locations of spirits connection between items and spirits sometimes jimmy steals things if he catches you i'm sorry oh that sounds horrible that's the first thing i haven't liked look for your spirit receiver in the first floor storeroom near the stairs we already have it fine compasses and keys and guest rooms okay so we're going to want to go up a floor to get the compass all right cool no this is this is really cool uh i'm really digging this okay let's go how do i get back on the elevator so he can't appear in the ground floor or in the basement weirdly call the okay yeah here we go all right let's take the lift up to floor one oh so she so the wardrobe search here you found an ornamental sword all right cool are we gonna like take it though hello you noted the sword i'm glad that we've noted it returned to the door jimmy hall is on this floor looking for you stay away from him you can find the compass in the scrying mirror okay yeah yeah let's look through the spyglass wait can i lock the door let's lock the door first leave the room no i won't lock the door okay he's out there looking for me huh this is like surprisingly tense we should wait until we're in a chase with him and then so he's on this floor thanks for telling me dude let's try room 17. bro it's dark in here hide in the bathroom too dark ahead okay is there a light switch somewhere i don't want jimmy to find me dude okay let's leave the room he ain't here yeah i head out and then went back around and then he said no you can't i'm gonna call your bluff on that i can see you don't you come on in here jimmy you won't look in the bathroom how long do i have to hide until i don't hear him anymore yeah i know we'll just get it over with already come on sitting here wasting away taking years off my life man come on get this over with i gotta go find a compass and scrying mirror as it keeps telling me okay i need to go to the right so let's go oh my god there he is don't leave the room in the bathroom he was he was hanging out he was hanging out in the bathroom do you see him you just saw i just saw like a glimmer of him i don't know if he actually followed me that time though i went right past him i want to see if i could do that okay i don't think he actually followed me this time i think we're good okay room 101 how many rooms are on this floor man you found a scrying mirror reveals hints and clues when used in dark places you found some trophies and awards for jimmy hall fringe comedy award you can use the scrying mirror when this icon is visible okay and either by the door in rooms or in the ground floor kitchen use the mirror to see clues about where to go and which items to use next okay yeah it will also help you locate lost keys compasses and the ghost box the ghost box all right you found an old wooden paddle or beater multiple scrying mirrors there's maybe multiple compasses then maybe the one that it showed me isn't the only one oh you found a key labeled stairs floor one okay you found an old cloth covered in blood stains oh he used that to kill someone i guess i'm i'm sorry but i'm always gonna look at this come on it's me why does she turn with her back to it i don't understand why she turns her back after she leaves the room dude there's a mirror there oh my god why search here you found some childish violent drawings okay and the compass points towards nearby spirits [Music] okay so now i've got plays has been playing the hell out of this game i keep seeing him tweet about somebody named jimmy ranting about jimmy this and jimmy that so i think he's been playing this game a lot i just didn't on the first floor huh okay all right guys uh well i think that's gonna do it for uh this first episode of at dead of night hope you guys are enjoying so far um i don't know how much i'll do i don't know if i'll do the full game because right now we're at seven percent complete and i've been at this for about an hour and a half so that's that's quite a long time uh i mean if if we continue on the same course it's going to be about uh 10 hours long ish so i don't know if i'll do the whole thing but uh i'm enjoying you so far and let me know what you think about at dead of night not what i expected very cool very cool i'm here and he's not though we don't gotta worry about it um so there's three different floors i'm guessing we're doing quests for amy the first ghost and then once we're done with her quest then we can move on to another ghost and i don't know how many ghosts there are in total hard to say i wasn't expecting it to be like this but it's a pleasant surprise i'm enjoying
