metal so black metal is an extreme sub-genre of heavy metal common traits include fast tempos shrieked vocals highly distorted guitars played with tremolo ticking blast beat drumming raw recording and unconventional song structures so that's what wikipedia says black metal is Wikipedia is wrong there is nowhere near specific enough if you did not record your black metal album in a shed in Norway in the freezing cold on one microphone that was very it is not black metal if you do not wear face paint with this exact expression that is not black metal you'll see black metal this is black metal what scream bloody gore was widely regarded as the first death metal record you can see that they're starting out with the death metal vibe they're still very clearly in the 80s here until this hair is like this it's not real death metal they're trying their best it wasn't really until much later that people understood what death metal hair must be and a lot of people say they have their favorite meth metal bands death the the people who originated it Cannibal Corpse one of the the most popular proponents and popular Rises of the genre of course my favorite band relentless doppelganger the neural network which generates technical death metal via live stream 24/7 you see that's real music made by real neural networks of course when you're talking about death metal you can't ignore the subgenres of death metal black and death doom do not confuse it with black and death metal melodic black death of course brutal death metal which is different to death doom funeral Doom and death and roll of course there's death core death core is an important one if you don't like the death metal band if they're too young they're death called death grind gore grind and porno grind of course are different to death rush industrial death metal and melodic death metal don't you dare confuse melodic death metal with melodic black death though symphonic death metal is hilarious it's trying its hardest to be the most epic thing ever so much so that there's this one band here época who really hit the nail on the head this is where you'll frequently get some woman who was an opera singer singing about like a dragon or something [Music] yes searching for your destiny there you go perfect example these are laughing nerds who do death-metal another way to tell whether a band is death metal is if you look them up on YouTube and the channel name is actually requesting suicide that's probably a death metal band doom metal they're gonna say it typically uses slower tempos low tuned guitars and a much thicker or heavier sound that that's not really getting across what doom metal is do metal sounds like the guitarists forgot that they're playing a song halfway through the song like they'll start out will be like hey do you want to keep playing and then like a few few minutes later they'll be like oh sorry and they'll do another know that's real doom metal you see this is perfect example of the quality you come to expect from doom metal do not however confuse it with drone metal I think they're gonna play a note oh there is there is they played a note you see this is quite exciting it's actually really cool kind of set and atmosphere Oh God I really hope that that was an accident they got bored of using letters and thought use a couple of curbs instead they're do metal is death metal played by this dude next stop here we got industrial which has electronic music in it that's not real metal of course everyone knows that industrial metal is not real metal experimental metal too vague next folk metal here we go Viking metal as I have explained real metal is from Scandinavia all this focus can turn AV music sometimes just gets accidentally smashed into the metal itself and this is where you get some of the best ideas ever feel alive this is another one of those genres where you can get away with a little bit of laughing the elf ears of course that was the perfect example of what this genre is stattle metal sometimes the metal is so strong that you actually have to go back to the times when your ancestors were fighting a bloody hand to hand combat wars and they're pretty creative with how they express this battle metal if you didn't catch that pretty innovative chorus yeah if you don't have someone angrily playing the violin it's probably not oka metal and it doesn't happen quite so much anymore I feel back then a lot of genres the lyrics were very much about we are this genre like yep hip hop it's like a hip uh-huh a hip yeah and then battle metal which is saying battle metal they're really trying to get across what what style of music they're playing just in case you were confused you might be thinking that this is funk there's nothing funky about battle map there is head banging in a skirt with an accordion that's the correct way to do it you are now educated you're welcome next gothic metal that's just a more depressing version of the stuff that we've already heard just put some like depressing sounding since behind that and you're probably about there more importantly we're gonna skip right ahead to grindcore and this is where you start to get to the most extremes that metal has to offer I'd say arguably grindcore is if not the funniest at least a top three contender for the funniest genres of music in the world not to be confused with the Transformers they see grindcore understood the problem with death metal you listen to death metal what's your first thought when is this guy gonna stop yelling it exactly so if you find napalm death of this this is true grindcore [Music] see that's grindcore that was genuinely their single you suffer does this mean they could copyright claim like every single metal band because that's in so many metal song another important thing when it comes to death metal if your logo does not look like you tripped over it in a forest I don't think you're really getting the idea across this is a metal logo that's waking the cadaver of course weak in the cadaver have some really innovative there a pig destroyer of course that's an angry fella this seems like they've got a bunch of other genres here there's only a few other ones that you really need to know look I will educate you now how a metal if it's a fat dude with insane guitar skill waving his long hair in the wind while people sing about fairies that's power metal is so much work that goes into these fricking songs you can feel it next as metalcore don't really need to know to listen to the music of metalcore metalcore is defined more by the the tightness of genes as of course christian metal there you can see the difference here with christian metal because god is watching down on them under oath no longer identify as a Christian band one of the best things we ever did Christian metal is a fascinating thing it's got this whole subculture of course like Christians want to support other Christians so if there's young Christians playing metal or the other young Christians will watch their band it's a reasonable way to get started at least it used to be yeah you get some of that with YouTube as well I've quite weird Christian channels gilda find that kind of thing people say new metal is a type of genre but clearly they're wrong rap should never be merged with any other genres of music metal should never be merged with any other genres of music unless those genres of music originated in Norway corn limb biscuit Linkin Park don't exist not metal next so yeah I think we've gone through most of the real ones of course the the last and most important real genre of metal to cover is kawaii metal as exemplified by babymetal or Lady baby this is a kawaii metal basically it's metal but you put 14 year old Japanese girls on the front of the stage [Music] yeah I think you can have trouble getting them to sing along with that love this is real metal forget
