Hermitcraft 10: Episode 8 - RANKING HERMITS

welcome back to hcraft season 10 this is episode 8 I've just returned from a trip to New Zealand which was incredibly fun incredibly exciting wait I forgot to change back my settings this is W than dying to a llama it's time for me to check up on my profits this little build has been up and running for the past couple weeks surely it will have generated some serious profit by now it looks just as gorgeous as I remember and actually hang on that's not bad that is 14 diamonds wait so we're like more than halfway out of stock I'm going to have to restock soon oh I'm suffering from success I kind of didn't want them to sell out that fast Gathering the resources for this was like one of the worst times I've had in Minecraft in ages this is terrible I need to get myself some of those fancy Farms but before I do there's something that needs to be shared for the past five or so years I have been ridiculed for pressing shift with my thumb people come up to me in the street they make weird hand gestures at me it's a real problem despite my best efforts I I'm I've just embraced the fact that I now press shift my thumb it's just part of my identity but it turns out I am like the least weird person on the hermitcraft server when it comes to play Styles a clip has been circulating of how Etho plays the game and it's completely mental it involves a clean Xbox his arm is at right angles I mean how does that even work impulse and skis they both play with their controls inverted what that makes me vomit there's all sorts of strange key binds people using odd pieces of equipment it's a mess on here so I think we should rank ourselves in terms of weirdness and then compare that to how weird our viewers think we are let the game show begin well I guess I got to build the game show first that's the part they normally cut out I bring you a little gift oh take this guy you you can't you can't be running around are you serious funny yeah no just take him he he's fast is he fast there's no funny business is he is he fast he's super quick he's pretty fast oh my goodness look at it look at look at the jump on that guy woo I mean it's it's it's jumping it's not bad this is this is lovely are you serious better than Wings I'm telling you yeah yeah I got I plenty of them I have got plenty of them wow just like that was that was the craziest deal I've ever done in my entire life I'm just roaming around free incredibly slowly granted and then you just rock up with with a spare horse this is awesome I got so many of them so you just cherish them I spent like8 hours breeding the best horses and now I have like I don't know it's my letter Farm can wow okay turn dark with my horse now stored it's time to build our ranking thing and I think I have to say I took an embarrassing long time to build this fairly simple structure I don't know what with me I've been overthinking every single possible structure I've been working on lately but I do think it's ended up looking pretty cool I mean it definitely does the trick we've got a little bit of texture here we've got some wobbliness to the roof it kind of looks like grian's hair and I've just sent out the public poll so now the viewers are currently voting on who has the weirdest way of playing Minecraft and I'm trying so hard not to look at the results I'm trying so hard there are 10 Hermits on the pole by the way this server is full of weirdos myself included by the way so let's gather up all of the odd balls and start this strange competition you're all here today because you all play Minecraft weirdly varying degrees of weird you're all going to come up onto this platform right here you're going to explain how you play the game why it's weird and then we're going to try our best to rank ourselves from not that weird to super weird on this little platform right here and then we're going to compare that to what the viewers think does that make sense yep yep does that make sense makes perfect sense I got it yeah okay can can I can I go first cuz I feel like not that weird and maybe I'm a good Benchmark okay weirdos you go ahead you go ahead hi my name's green and I play Minecraft with inventory on my f key for some reason this really freaks people out that's weird that's weird F key what's your F then yeah yeah there is thing f is inventory e is e e is switch and Q is always Q it's not it's not that difficult and then I've got a zoom on R right that's Noir why my inventory is on F oh gosh right and um I think there's something else that you need to explain here as well grien what your your headset situation yeah all right so the other my My Confession is that I've been using the same headset since about 2008 which is realistically a long time ago now that I'm realizing my age um but the thing is the thing is it's a really cheap nasty headset it's just the most comfortable thing in the world and I was so scared cuz it's a very much a discontinued product they don't make this anymore and they haven't done for quite some time so I batch ordered a bunch of these from Hong Kong and I've got a box full of them in case I I I just never want to run out that's pretty weird that's pretty weird dude is that good glad I got out my chest right you can you can put yourself you can put yourself where you you think you might be I mean you you've already established that you you you don't think you're that weird but we'll we'll debate this but it it might be good to start getting people someone got a bed let's let's do this properly with the heads oh oh no no no we'll stand there we'll stand there we'll we'll stand in place CU we'll Shuffle around I think I think I'm firmly not weird I just like my comfort right I guess what I'm up on the platform this is kind of known isn't it really but I press shift with my thumb it's curled it's horrible it's curled underneath my hand file it's pretty it is pretty gross that's just not okay SP it with fire I don't think it's that weird it's quite comfortable how you operate the space bar then yeah but see what's weird is I can I can when I have to press space and shift and my pinky jumps into action but then as soon as I have only press there a curl over the head press his face and I was going to be so confused I I'll try that I I'll start practicing that one actually that sounds like a good I feel like I need to step in here because I've seen it in real life what you need to understand about Mumbo and this this is not a good justification but he has got massive hands yeah exactly he has got he has got huge hands yeah thank DUS lids yeah so that's that's why my thumb could do these things but yeah no you know what I think I'm going to put myself here I think I'm Middle with fine I'll I'll take one yeah okay okay okay a little bit more I would say a little bit more okay fine I'll go over here go there you go yeah there we go um okay so I play with e is forward X is back a is strafe left f is strafe right uh r as inventory G as swap hand and Q is is just cute and you thought me having was weird you thought my inventory key was weird you have a justification though right R let me explain myself when fpss first started we had the arrow keys on the keyboard that we used then the game developers moved the arrow keys to W ASD and kept it in the same thing but if you actually think about it logically WD forces your fingers together in an extremely uncomfortable position and what I have done is just logically stretch the fingers out across the keyboard thus giving myself more real estate for FPS Ownage get to the weird Kary mate there's no way on to the weird definitely weird don't knock until you try it fine weird dude's got big hands he's got big hands yeah it might be weirder than me that might be weirder than me you stay there take one step to the left make room make room right false up you go right me next well um I think the only weird one that was deemed weird was was I the inventry that is pretty weird that is so far away so far away so wrong old school player really old school exact called the king okay I'd say I'd say this decently weird it's definitely not as weird as Ren it I'd say that I was at the end that down I would say that's just more inconvenient than weird of inconvenience right Etho this is the how long how long have we got I don't think I'm that weird I think everybody else has just got something messed up with them okay so I bought this new microphone one time and I didn't I bought a mic stand with it the mic stand didn't work very well so just as a temporary solution I stuffed the mic in a Kleenex box as a holder and it works surprisingly well so well in fact it dampens the the sound and everything from the desk and it's wonderful I decide just to stick with it uh I also play with my keyboard about 16 18 in uh up at the desk so that I have room for my arms I like to keep my elbows on the desk kind of like when you're eating and stuff what a um shouldn't eat with your elbows on the desk yeah that's rude is that run in Canada it's very comfortable elow are on the desk so it might run in Canada this allows you to keep your wrist perfectly straight with your mouse cuz I keep my mouse also sideways so in front of my keyboard instead of us on the side of it so wait are you done I need a Q&A when you when you move when you so say you want to look up your mouse has to go like left across your desk no it goes right right towards oh right towards you Mambo uh towards towards my keyboard to go you're inverted wait it's sideways it's sideways so wait so right is towards my keyboard towards my monitor gosh what I'm trying I regret the I'm trying my best I'm taking up too much time here I got I got to keep going no no no I got questions about the kleenex box how old is the kleenex box it's about 5 years old I got my settings WR what dude is there still tissues in it like do they want a sponsorship [Laughter] tisues box that's impressive it's a Costco box a nice big bp1 it matches my desk same color it looks nice I've got one on my desk and it's flimsy how category we need I think you need to go right to the very end buddy there age done yet I'm not done yet more so because I play with my mouse in front of my keyboard sideways right um I only have about 16 in or so to move it so I have high sensitivity mhm um I have a pretty nice desktop though so I play without my mouse pad mhm so it's it Glides nicer smoother I use my mouse pad under my left elbow as a push oh my [Laughter] God I think that's about it okay yeah get to the end mate there's no way all the way the thing is it's not any one it's the combination of everything yeah yeah I don't know it's I'm raing myself based on how I think it is that's true Mumbo that's true heting ourselves we'll we'll debate well Etho is a tough act to follow I've only got two things and they're not really that weird I changed them for uh competitive gameplay so my Sprint key is actually caps lock because I find it hard to get my pinky down to control um and my F5 is actually R because it's easier to reach I mean that's pretty that's pretty reasonable yeah I think why are you here Weir than yeah no you sprinting all righty as I sprinted over here I used my foot pedal I got this idea from impulse who's a drummer yeah so so impulse has a has a foot pedal and I was like which one do you have it has three buttons and that sounds awesome and so yeah I've got the only uh pedal I actually use for Minecraft stuff is the left one I use the center one to change OBS scenes and I use the right one to mute my mic so if I cough you know or or something that doesn't go out and bother you guys and uh the only other thing I do that's kind of weird is kind of like what false does instead of having um throw button or throw item on Q I have it on minus because I kept getting like jump scared by creepers and then throwing my sword at them and I was like this way if I want to throw something I have to go all the way over there plus you can control minus at that point and throw the entire stacky and so when I'm getting rid of Ender Pearls I just open up the inventory move my entire hand across the keyboard and I can control minus all the end pearls off the you know Edge into the end that's very smart but the foot pedal is jaring you guys all said that me putting inventory on F was weird in my head my brain just can't stop imagining that it's actually a mini treadmill that every single time you run you have to like shuffle your feet as if you're running as well I was looking a little bicycle one they got a little bicyle one people put under their desk for exercise yeah if I could make that Sprint me that be also if I could go backwards on it oh yeah if I went the other way that would be perfect for deck when you're sprinting how do you stop yourself going well that's what the mute pedal is for other foot how am I still at the top up in the middle the headset SC I have spent five years uh doing Minecraft from my couch I sit cross-legged with my keyboard on my what and my mouse on a a flat of soft drink cans are crying okay yeah my back's perfectly fine it's really comfy oh it's not clear I'm sorry oh okay um wait wait how high is your head above like your keyboard for example are you like laying down no it's like are your hands above your shoulders when you play cuz you're like sitting that low no I'm just sting on my couch I don't how do you guys sit on a couch don't have a desk no is your mouth pad what did you say your mouth pad is got one but like yeah pop cans what yeah the the mouse like there's a flat of can soda cans and I just put my mouse pad on that with is it the big Labowski wait wait I got to know I got to know are these cans full for stability oh yeah they're full for stability you got to have the stability yeah wow that's literally the tissue Bo thing again this might be the top this is weirder than the end this has got to be up there how am I still the top I literally all I do is curl my thumb a little bit you got Etho who's pulling all sorts of right angles with his desk up to his armp in the wrong spot eth needs his own category honest crazy and CLE out here Weir you're down the end guy join them see I understand Cleo's in mind though cuz it it makes sense like from a comfort perspective Mumbo just doesn't sense period like so first of all thank you for the invite to this freak Show I am just I am just left-handed that's my only don't you do a vlit or something okay okay so the thing is I have a uh a mouse for right handed people on my left hand so I'm left handed obviously all right yeah and I play using w SD I shift with my thumb contr thumb yes yes I space with my pink way that you do you space with your pinky what with his it's with his right hand it's with his right hand his right hand is on the W no no the thing is like both my keyboard and mouse are like 45 degree angles so I'm sitting like my my hands are literally like maybe 10 cm apart like literally so it's it's super comfy but it also depends on the day because sometimes I shift and control with with my index finger so it's like depends on what I wake up wait what wait you shift with your index finger mhm mhm mhm are we are we providing Mumbo with pictures cuz I don't I'm not sure I can I can handle this in my headit but you have to move your whole hand carella showed us a picture no yeah car not that bad he's just left your finger that's usually on a sometimes goes to shift is that what you're saying exactly oh yeah that kind of makes sense yeah that kind of makes sense yeah we're just you just got to flip it provide we provide pictures I'm not weird say this me I I Amed and I don't understand I'm also left handed I'm also lefted stand here yeah are you left handed yeah yeah just yeah squee wait we found another one what Mak less sense about what you do no I'm I'm not I'm not playing left-handed controls cuz that really wouldn't make much sense I don't even know how that would work but no I'm just left-handed but I I I've conformed this is what happened when you make a left-hander conformed a right-handed Society all right this is thumbs end up doing the weird things it's all it's all society's fault makes so much more sense he's not even being true to himself how's this become a thing about the size of my hands I hope you got something good buddy cuz I I I got a couple things I got a couple things first I'm going to Sprint over using my right thumb on my mouse o okay that's pretty fancy that's fancy game mhm mhm what but I think the thing you guys probably will have an issue with is the fact that I have inverted Mouse controls which means I pull back on my mouse to look up I push forward to yeah get to the get to the end mate get to the end got a good reason for it can I explain listen I played Battlefield 2 back in the day and I was a pilot of a helicopter and I had a joystick and a helicopter hold back to look up and you push forward to look down in you never let go and I can't let it go nope so my character does the same it's disgusting though still abely foul it's not that really freak other game it's wrong right yeah get it get get somewhere we've been playing Minecraft many years and we all knew about mumbo's thumb thing we all knew that he presses shift with his thumb but we have been keeping shum about our own little things yeah exactly there's a lot of people surpris me a lot to be honest I did not realize how weird this bunch is right well so okay so let's so how are we feeling that you guys are really bunched up how are we feeling I'm not in the right place I'm like down the normal end I was I was more over here been sco over I will bring you a pair you can you can trial it no I think I think I think I'm less weird than EO you you're less weird than Etho okay I think I think I'm less weird than I don't think I'm less weird than Mumbo I think Mumbo is less weird than I am I think ether unfortunately unless who like you need to let the audience decide this that you're not going to get there well I mean but they they already have decided we actually have to decide and then we need to compare our results this oh really oh no this is awful where is by far the weird he weirder than Mumbo yeah 100% 100% get to the end touch the see Mumbo mum I don't see I'm I'm on the Etho side here Etho eth's gone for a weird way of being comfortable you distort your whole hand in order to play the game just not so do this day can't press shift and space at the same time I can I just I use my pinky in that in that use case I want everyone to try and do what Mumbo just did so I have a low profile keyboard I have a low profile key if you try and press Shi uh what is it shift with your thumb and then move your pinky to the space no no no no no it's the other way around what do you think no that's what you said M that's what you said you somehow put your you somehow put your p on your space bar while your thumb is on no it I change my pinky jumps into action and decides to shift only in this use case so you go you revert to normal when you're doing this yeah yeah it's smooth as well you made it sound like your pinky then takes over the space bar flip it up over your hand somehow game of Twister for his hands that's hilarious no that unfortunately not the case although I'll start I physically can't do that yeah no no I don't think anyone can no it's just it's just it's just thumb shifting and for that very reason I think I'm below E though yeah I'm inclin to agree I thought the pinky was doing some contortion when your pink is on the shift and your thumb is on the space that's just the normal way of playing why don't you play like that know I couldn't tell you I couldn't tell yeah the tissue box is too much right Cleo I'd say why the transition I I'd say Cleo where do we where do we think Cleo Cleo you're a real C should be right there a lot of people work with a laptop though people work with a laptop on their couch and they'll have like a textbook with the mouse on it it's just on my knees the KE sod can that's where you lost the microphone was hang the soda can mouse pad oh yeah the mic where does the mic come from the the the staircase was behind me and oh it's getting weirder okay Cleo you're next to me you're next to me oh me me swap maybe maybe it's just the thumb shifting right Cleo's got a whole bunch of with the right impulse I'd say you're next to me I'd say inverted controls are just as gross still confused why it's a big deal but okay I would just I'd like to say that the the inverted Mouse is absolute Madness it breaks every other game that you play It's disg You must go up line settings you switch to inverted and it's the game works fine if if if impulse was the only one I would agree with you but there's someone else on the server that also does exactly the same thing SK who skis yeah what infiltrated each other yeah oh you for him he was the Gunner okay I think I think for that reason for that reason that it's it's not as weird as the three at the top yeah but is that weirder than Ren think about Ren what you mean we let Ren slip by yeah what was Ren the crazy got the spread makes Ren actually does does make sense just you're like still over there headset yeah I mean that is kind of normal I've just got I've just got a big box of headsets in case I ever run out they last about a year so I'm getting through them we no maybe false false maybe false no I think GRE because the headphones headphones yeah yeah and then and then false and then gem okay we happy is this is this our official ranking right are you ready perfect okay then impulse surprisingly close and then and then me and no we did a pretty good job and I feel I feel like if they knew the monstrosity that Cleo described yeah I feel like do it anymore good job viewers you did a really good job on that I am surprised this is the stupidest thing I think I've ever participated in and I found out a lot of things that I didn't want to know about you guys it's season 10 we're finding out way too much about each other
