to be with you folks today we've been in full-time gospel music now for over 30 years and it's a joy to be here with you i'd like the group to introduce themselves to you some of us have been together now for 30 years my name is max mace and i direct the group and i sing baritone hi i'm becky trueblood i'm from caldwell idaho i started singing with heritage about 19 years ago hi my name is john loma kang a native of new york city i now live in st louis i began singing with heritage in 1984 and i sing tenor hello i'm tim calhoun from pine forge pennsylvania and icing tenor hi i'm shaney judd diehl i'm from sydney australia i've been singing with heritage for about seven years hi my name is dave bell and i grew up in the little town of walla walla washington i started singing with a group about 20 years ago and i'm singing bass hello my name is val mace mapa i'm from placerville california and i sing first soprano and i've been trying with group for the past 32 years our keyboard player is mr arc minar from chicago and we're happy to have him with us we're going to take you down memory lane right now we're going to sing some of the old songs of the 70s see if you remember this something good [Music] he understood [Music] beautiful [Music] beautiful [Music] i've been a lot of places and i've seen a lot of faces and there were times i felt so all alone but in those lonely hours yes those precious lonely hours jesus told me that i still was one of his own [Music] learn to trust in god [Music] [Music] upon his words [Music] um [Music] i'm rich i'm free i wanna tell the world that i'm happy i got jesus [Music] [Music] god's [Music] together with gods wonderful people [Music] room for the young plenty of happiness plenty of love plenty of room in the fall plenty of room in the family [Music] plenty of love plenty of broom and [Music] [Applause] i've been washed in the fountain join us with jesus [Music] and sister around here well let's speak us we're a family and these folks are so dear when one has [Music] and rejoice in his victory with his family so dear [Applause] [Music] cleansed [Music] [Applause] [Music] of the family [Applause] [Music] we have been given such a precious gift in salvation you know so many times we feel as though we have to act a certain way or walk a certain way or talk a certain way before we can come to the lord but you know that's not what it's about jesus christ came so that we could have life in him he asked us to come to him exactly as we are with all of our ugliness all of our problems all of our fears he asked us to just lay those at his feet and allow him to walk with us through life i accepted the lord into my life when i was four years old and you know i accepted it with the innocence of a child i knew that jesus christ was real and i knew i wanted him to be my friend and as i've grown up through life i've learned more about him but i realize there is so much more to learn christ has given me joy he's given me peace that passes all understanding in the midst of situations where humanly i should have fallen apart my prayer for you is that you know my savior that you meet him and that you build a relationship with him he is such an awesome god and he has so much for you and he wants you exactly as you are i promise you that in the strength of jesus christ you can do anything and at the moment when you are the very weakest that's when christ is the strongest i can do all things through christ who strengthens me amidst a hustling clamoring world sometimes hard to hear the voice of god speaking to my soul but in my quiet time alone when i approach his holy throne his tender words fall gently on my ears i know is [Music] and two three [Music] it makes me rejoice two [Music] there are so many who still doubt that god can speak today they laugh and mock when we say we've heard from god yet the still small voice of god is heard above the doubters of this world his timeless words ring do but in the christian walk it's the best thing that anyone can do i know that personally living in new york city being raised where i thought i was making choices that would benefit my own life but what i came to discover is that every choice i made pushed me further and further away from the lord yet when i thought about giving my heart to jesus christ i thought i was giving up everything that was good to do something that would be boring to do something that would take away what i thought was joy but i never forget the day that jesus broke through that barrier that i put up and came into my heart and came into my life and i finally understood what jesus meant when he said not my will but thine be done and so friends if you are struggling today to give up and surrender you're not giving up anything good but by surrendering to jesus you're gaining everything good no one would have told me then that i would be preaching the gospel now but it all began when i surrendered my life to christ and so right there as you listen to the words of the songs that we sing today maybe you're thinking about where to draw the line between your life and the life that jesus has for you the best decision you can make is to surrender it all to jesus christ why don't you do that today and make the best decision of your life christ is waiting there for you to come in i dream of a city
