[Music] what's up guys and welcome to another drift games video and it's a very special one in my brand new car which as you can hear is very loud but before i show you what the car is i want to talk a little bit about why i bought it and my mindset at the time so as you guys know i had to uh sell my mustang i didn't have to sell my mustang i sold my mustang because this car came up for sale now as you know i'm a big nissan guy i've always been a big nissan guy i've had so many nissan coupes i've had skylines i think every single type of skyline every variation of silvia and i've had 350zs i love them i think they're just a perfect blend of performance with just enough power however there's a lot of problems with having them too because in ireland having something highly modified makes it difficult to pass the nct or mot or inspection and for a lot of what we do and it's difficult to keep them all legally on the road so i started thinking what would be the perfect car that i would like for a sunday blast well let's put it this way i've had over a hundred so i do know quite a bit about cars and over those years i've realized that i love old-school jdm styling love old-school japanese cars i think they look the coolest however when it came to performance and all of my drift cars i have fallen in love with the v8 so what i was essentially looking for which was the perfect car was something that was a v8 that had that amazing rumble had the cool looks of a jdm car but also could be road legal because it's old school and it's ntt or mot exempt how would a car like that ever exist well one night i was up on my phone and it came up for sale the perfect car and after a little bit of wheeling and dealing and having to sell my mustang i'm now sitting in it and driving down the road fully legit but you know what i'm not going to tell you what it is right now i got to show you what it is [Music] um [Music] [Music] yes [Music] [Music] if you're in ireland and in the market for a used car we recommend coming here to moorfield motors dot ie they've got an amazing showroom everything from suvs to performance cars to practical cars to first time buyers even have mark two escort rally car although to be fair this isn't for sale but it does show that they're into motorsport and they're into their cars which means they can pass that knowledge on to you they also do full finance deals and can source it if they don't have it come on tomorrow feel the motors that i eat at new cars every day tell them we sent you so here she is a car that i've wanted for so so long that i never thought i'd actually ever own and unfortunately i did have to sell my mustang my drift car the one car i didn't want to sell to buy this but her good friends at dean motors had this up for sale it had an amazing story i sat down one night and said well something's got to give so it was unfortunately the mustang and here it is my new weekend car so what makes it so special well it's got a bit of a story so this is obviously running a v8 you might think it's a scarab 240z but it's actually not an original scarab so scarab was kind of like in the 80s uh company in america were putting chevy small blocks into 240z but in this case this is actually a resto mod so this car was brought back to a bare metal uh back to a strip shell it was stitch welded and built all the way back up this is actually the original color of the car but it's had everything else replaced or upgraded it's almost like buying a brand new improved 240z on the outside as you can see it's kind of in classic 240z mode all the chrome all that good stuff and it has got the correct wheels which are the what knobbies on this and we will be changing a lot of this stuff later but we'll get to that later in the episode but i do want to talk to you about how special the car is you can have a look at the interior it's a 1971 car remember the interior is absolutely flawless it's got some cross-stitch leather in there it's got the original seats a lot of it has been re-trimmed and and basically every part that was a bit tired was replaced and made a little bit nicer it even has a sony head unit with bluetooth in it i might change that for something a little bit more period correct with bluetooth in it but there's some black punch stuff that i'm having to look at at the moment but that's pretty much all that there is on the inside but the real reason that i bought this car is what's under the bonnet so i'm going to show you that now voila so as i mentioned on the intro over the years i've learned that i love old-school jdm styling but i have a soft spot for american v8s and this is a very special american v8 so a lot of these conversions you'll see done with an ls or something like that this is almost a period correct chevy 350 small block and the spec list is pretty ridiculous i'm actually going to read it out to you guys because there's absolutely no way i'll remember all this i'll try and get through it as quick as i can so this has a full race built engine by watson racing in the usa you'll see it on the rocker covers there it's a 350 chevy block it's got a square deck line board scat crying probe six inch i-beam rods probe flat forged tops pistons all that stuff that i don't really know what it is but it is a fully built engine 160 exhaust valves brodex intake manifold it's got a double pumper carb it's got a mallory ignition system a billet distributor wall box 2.2 inch row aluminium raider dual electric fans it's got full polyurethane bushings it's got kyb struts on the car as it is it has got an arizona z cars bad dog sump or sub frame rails and it's got a front brakes converted from a toyota hilux 4x4 and the rear brakes are from a 1987 nissan maxima which is quite a fairly standard conversion on these the crazy thing here is it's got a 4 speed transmission with an auto gear heavy duty case so this is a cut gearbox in this car um and it also has a the lsd from a 1988 300 zx so the rear end for the car is 300 zx the engine is a race built v8 and the car itself is obviously mostly dots and with some upgrade it's got a full magnaflow exhaust on there and it has been dynoed at 357 horsepower with 430 foot pound of torque which is uh a lot for a very old and light car and that's exactly why i bought it because it is the opposite of the way cars are going right now everything is electric everything's about being quiet everything's about being practical this is a huge v8 no power steering lsd and absolutely hilarious to drive you feel absolutely every clunk of the gearbox right throughout the car it's an amazing condition but as with everything at drift games it's not going to be staying this way for too long so while this is a beautiful car a lot of people say it's a very very beautiful car there are some changes that i want to make to it it doesn't look how i want the car to look i think it looks a little bit too like a middle-aged car or sort of mid-life crisis car i wanted to make it look a lot meaner now what we're doing with this car is very dramatic however you're not going to see it on the episodes because we're heading away from this episode for four weeks of traveling this car will be on our stand at the old school new school show in longford in a couple of weeks time it'll be on a podium it'll be completely covered it won't be this color and it won't be the setup the mechanicals will however remain the same so we're not going to show you any of that transformation we're going to just reveal the car live to you guys in the public at that show and it's going to look completely different to this now i know a lot of the purists will say don't mess with it it's such a perfect car you'll see what i mean when we get to that show but uh i absolutely love it it drives hilariously to be honest on these tires they're way too big we're going to try and change a lot of this setup change the tires to federal semi-slicks we're going to try and put some bc coilovers on there we're going to make this car handle the power that actually has because at the moment i think the power is too heavy for this or too crazy for the chassis and so we're gonna do a lot of work on making the chassis as modern as we can and drive like a modern car but i absolutely love it it's just a dream car i still can't believe i actually own one unfortunately i did have to give up the mustang but i think replacing one v8 with another v8 and one that i can drive every day rather that one that can just be used once or twice a year on the
