I'd like to thank Ben zero watches for sponsoring this trainwreck of a video today with my East 63 wagon which broke agin in the weirdest way possible I was thrilled that Ben zero reached out since I'm a big fan of their product I'm currently wearing their black chrono model with a silicone band and it has the look and feel of a much more expensive watch I mean just look at the attention to detail here with the textured dial and bezel along with the mixed metals in the finish and on the back case is the company's motto it's been a meaty beachy I came I saw I conquered along with a real piece of Italian marble I also recently got their chrono s model in rolls goal diamond unbox it right here nice and heavy which is nice you want a box to be heavy oh yeah yeah it's really nice with the leather strap it's kind of like a dress-up version of the watch that I'm currently wearing when Sarah watches our water resistance and have a scratch-resistant crystal face and now is the perfect time to buy a Vince Aero watch because they're having a huge sale for their 5th anniversary it's the biggest sale of the year and everything on the site is on sale no exceptions even the all-new collection they just dropped is available on sale products do sell out do not wait to go to Vince Sarah watches comm linked in the description below and treat yourself to event Sarah watch linked in the description below Ben Sarah watches dot-com hello welcome to who V's garage and today is Maseratis first road trip I'm taking it up to Kansas City doing what a lot of Maserati owners probably do and that's drive their car from one repair shop to the next one unfortunately the car wizard could not solve the transmission warning error with this car he threw a shifter at it he threw a transmission mechatronics the electronic controller for the transmission into it and we still have the warning light now the transmission it works perfectly it says manual mode is unavailable but I can shift it manually through the gears no problem and it feels totally smooth and quiet and other than the tires being a little out of around from sitting so much it cruises down the highway just fine so he suggested that I take it to the maserati dealer and have them figure out why this light is still on its headlamp leveling sensor failure as well basically have them look it over maybe it just needs to be reset shut up or maybe it needs more looking into the car wizard doesn't have the maserati specific scan tool to really go into detail with this thing so he would just be guessing throwing parts at it and we don't want him to do that so maybe the maserati dealer will be helpful hopefully i get a tech that knows what they're doing and not one that just says 'a transmission error replace the transmission because a lot of dealers nowadays are just kind of like that they're not in the business of repairing things they're in the business of replacing things so fingers crossed there but there is some good news this maserati dealer in kansas city is also a mercedes dealer and at the Mercedes dealership here in kansas city is my e63 wagon that is supposedly fixed i'm really looking forward to getting that car and dropping off this HOOPP deport day this squatty potty okay good bye hooptie maserati I'm not gonna miss you that much but fingers crossed we get you sorted out and he'll 63 wagon it is all fixed but still there are some other things wrong with the car wizard needs to look at so we are going to drive it directly to the car wizard for his post repair inspection and since we are talking about everything wrong with this e 63 wagon there is one thing that is wrong with AMG engine that I I'm gonna have to rant about so sorry rant time alright any error messages now surfacing exceeded by 492 days that's not an error message but otherwise we have nothing not a whole lot of nothing so I rolled out of there made it about ten feet before the ESP light came back on the trash control which is what I had when I bought it and no surprise but I can't believe this Mercedes is the same year 2007 as the Maserati Quattroporte and they were both about the same price around a hundred grand or so it's hard to believe those two cars were in the same league back in the day because the Maserati quality isn't anywhere close now for those who didn't see my first video with this e63 he it was the cheapest East 63 wagon for sale in the USA at only $13,000 but the big but is it had two hundred and four thousand miles on it now it had a few little issues when I picked it up just outside of New York City but I wasn't too worried about it making the 1200 mile trek back to Kansas and it didn't make it back to Kansas but not quite back to home I was about two and a half hours from home when the electronics went insane my gauges quit working and it wouldn't restart so I had to take it to the nearest Mercedes dealer and that's aristocrats in Kansas City and they quickly diagnosed it as a bad gateway computer that part is around $300 putt for them to diagnose this and to put it in at a hundred and eighty dollars an hour in labor which is a lot but that's normal dealership labor rates uh the total was a little over eleven hundred dollars to get my Mercedes back on the road expensive labor rates aside which is normal nowadays they were really quick in getting this car fixed it was me who actually had to wait picking it up because I was out of town and the people there were really nice and they were really excited to see this be sixty three wagon because now we're into the rant time this East 63 is back when AMG was special AMG used to be a big deal when you saw that badge on the back of a Mercedes the cars that they put out were hand-built and special it was one man one engine that's why my engine is autograph the man who built it has his autograph H into a plaque on the intake that's how much pride they took in their cars being hand-built one man one engine but a few years ago AMG decided to quit doing this now they're upper-echelon cars are still hand-built v8 and v12 engines of the v12 not long for this world but they decided to do lesser AMG's and in my mind they're just fakes we used to make fun of people for taking their 500s or their e3 20s and putting AMG badges on the back and aims your wheels and calling it an AMG but now that's exactly what Mercedes is doing and they're taking their normal twin turbocharged v6 engines and calling them AMG's 843 s yeah they're doing the appearance package in the seats and probably stuff with the suspension as well but still that's what you would call a Sport Package call it an e 400 sport call it something don't call it an AMG this is from a company that used to say they'd built the best or nothing nothing at all but then they started building the CLA 250 which definitely wasn't the best it was a cheap Mercedes built to a leasing or a price point a chief lease price point and that all went out the window now they decided to do the same with AMG which makes no sense because you go buy a new 400 or 450 I don't even care about the numbers anymore because they don't even match the engines remotely anymore if you can get a tune from the place like euro charge that would bump the horsepower up to over 400 and have an engine that puts out more horsepower than a normal e43 because it's the same engine it's the exact same thing they just take the computer and dial it back a little bit and that's that's not an AMG that's not this I'm getting a little worked up here but as a die-hard Mercedes enthusiast who used to look back on Mercedes and really admire this car like the e63 and think it's something really special Mercedes is taking that and cheapening the brand and of course it's been really successful for them because more people can afford the AMG cars and they can look like a baller on a budget people who are putting fake badges on normal Mercedes anyway so why does the Mercedes do it charge more for their cars I mean it makes sense they've sold a lot of cars but for me it's it's just disappointing to see that Rancho vert now that I've gotten that out of my system hopefully I'm not additionally disappointed in this AMG when I get my full inspection from the wizard two hundred and four thousand miles on this thing so I'm sure there's gonna be some stuff that I don't know about oh boy dude I wanted to show you that my traction control isn't working you you couldn't have just told me that it wasn't working well I thought I'd better demonstrate there's her now marks all over my parking lot now it's character character sorry I guess when fans come up I can say well there's Hoover's burnout yeah their check engine light came on for me doing that though yes so now I have ESP and check engine light so maybe that wasn't the best idea look at it look green it's green yes greeny 63 wagon one of probably a dozen or so I've never seen one yeah I've never seen an e63 wagon of this generation in person before until I bought this one super cool 204,000 miles though yeah yeah so there's there's gonna be stuff broken and I already kind of broke something yeah it looks like we all shall we okay well I'd lost power-steering now it really didn't like that burn out so my little burnout caused a check engine light and now my power steering to not work my little display of speed so you're saying I should try the old turn off and back on again trick here i power-steering when I Rev mm-hmm how could doing a little burnout kill a power steering pump rpms I don't know it's kind of freaky how could one to fonts new votes so far this is the best one yeah it's been a while since I've seen a lot of black oh there's three okay did they break adaptive breaks three AIRMATIC one Sam module one that's still less than 50 yeah normally Distronic fault smell lamps which I'm gonna do it just holding the brakes I'm gonna clear those so holding the brakes I might burn out and move and that's something up throws a code left front acceleration sensors probably from doing the burnout why is it always the burnout why is always my fault no can message from control module speed sensitive steering therefore your steering race speed sensitive steering that's pretty cool that it has that feature yeah but obviously it doesn't like burnout so no - all you 63 owners burnouts Donuts it starts mocking you know I don't know [Music] you know so no faults there's no more codes anything with the speed sensitive steering everything's all clear it's all happy but I did find on here that says this guy says I think it's been discussed before but power steering pumps die in these cars and you do donuts seriously oh yes power steering pump operations some thoughts on why it fails when doing donuts even comes with a handy-dandy diagram on all these check valves so the forms are saying don't do burnouts in these cars because it kills the power steering pumps apparently that's what's happened here live on camera you just witnessed monumental stupidity the fact that you revved the motor and he started to get power steering again yeah I think that pump finally crapped here lovely well you can price that out let's see if we find anything else put it on the lift and take a look brakes look like they've seen a better day yeah you could probably use pads and rotors on this thing least on the front yeah that's a lot all their wizard it's not the front main seal it's all dry they're good time to do the taste test well it's gotta be oil you just tasted it because you wanted to all right you see compressors been recently replaced yeah that's oil you think it's just this pan I think it's the upper pan you can see it through here yeah that's never pan that's that's the expensive one it's expensive one yes Oh gonna need a bowl joint there transmission is dry that's a good thing we all one dry three in this car that's good it's very hot in here with the exhaust yeah quick no leaks on the differential nice back brakes you're gonna need brakes pads and rotors back here too really yeah well I think we are both sweating is 100 degrees today I'm actually looking forward to sitting down in your office once not because of the bill but because of the air conditioning the air conditioning yes let's lower this thing down that's gonna be bad it's gonna be bad oh it feels good in here yeah I know we yes you shall we shopping for something this time for a Rolex Daytona so your ESP like did you have any issues with right I bought it that way it's just a brick switch really 50 bucks install that's amazing that's amazing awesome then your ball joint issues and then 200 bucks parts and labor to install that okay not too bad yeah your uh your power steering pump that you uh mmm your Instant Karma out there Instant Karma yeah that has a good way to describe it because you did not like me doing that burnout and yeah donut yeah 1/2 a donut I got a full donut I think it replace parts and labor 600 bucks that burnout cost you $600 oh man your upper boil pan it's leaking ha ha it's a 12 and a half hour job to get that oil pan on we feel it we're looking at a grand to fix your oiling Wow okay Wow hmm is your brakes AMG brakes are really expensive I just remembered this Oh rotors up front yeah big two-piece rotors on the front yes 400 each Wow Wow those Brembo brakes or 280 for the pads Wow the rears are cheap with labor and everything involved you're looking at $1,700 for brakes almost $2,000 brake job okay 37:15 3750 yeah yeah not quite not quite $3,700 to sort out my e63 well I was thinking if I was $15,000 into this thing I'd be sitting really well obviously I've just gone about that I tried to save myself a little money by driving home but then it broke so that was $1,100 to fix that computer and now we're talking 3,000 something hundred dollars I you know what I can already tell it's an old Mercedes it's going to leak oil till the end of time and not be a problem so let's not do the upper oil pan okay let's I have to do the brakes because they kind of feel like not good so we'll do the brakes will do the power steering do the brakes which obviously and then what else is on there a ball ball joint yeah ball joint so that do those four okay do those four you always leave one thing broken because if you leave that thing broken then it kind of you know whatever if you fix everything in the next round of things break so if you leave one thing broken then that stays the broken thing least that's my theory it works hopefully this will be the final round of repairs only 63 and then it'll give me a little bit of an amine because this car is one of my heroes one of my heroes better gonna be one of those moments where you don't want to meet your heroes right yeah thank you for watching one donut was donut are you kidding me [Music]

Personally I like to reference Doug Demuro and Hoovies Garage as a singularity.. Douché Doug and his Shop-Vac or whatever”

It’s a love-hate thing. They both know how to max out the cringe gauge but in a way that keeps me watching their idiotic videos. I think it’s mostly because of what they appear not to know about the cars they review that keeps me clicking because it makes me dream about how I could do their job better, which I believe is how they’ve figured out the secret to “You-rube” success on a larger scale. Appearing to know shockingly little while actually having an encyclopedic knowledge about a specific facet of car culture is their secret sauce.
