Wayland will be the one waving goodbye as no one will want to put up with its horrible limitations. See this thread from the other day regarding frustrations and limitations on Wayland, summed up nicely with "This is the reason why X will still be around 10 years from now and Wayland will be a dead end. "
Can anyone explain why is it good for the clients to draw their own window decorations?
Their progress is impressive but it isn't perfect in every sense. Multi monitor support in virtual box comes to mind. Not that X11 was any good at it without static modifications either.
