good morning it is quarter after 8:00 a.m. on Monday morning it's the 29th and I am going to Ellensburg washed in for an FAA check ride saving the guy a bunch of driving time about an hour and a half so I'm gonna meet him there it's a 20-minute flight don't penny with me today well let's just go take my usual departure route which is out over this little runway [Music] you know Ellensburg is due south of here and coincidentally so is this cliff which I'm gonna be coming up on in a second now I can't just go straight up over the cliff I mean I could but it's it's not really the safest way to climb over it it's not fuel-efficient just got smart so what I'm gonna do is I'm going to climb up and out and then when I get high enough to get over it I will go over it so I'm pulling in enough power fully in basically hover power 22 inches is what I'm allowed to pull today and then I pitch for my best climb which is around 60 knots that gets me going in a house of feet-per-minute climb rate I'm all by myself I'm kind of light on fuel well going up pretty good and when I cheery topic helicopter your cell phones before Delta is at the south side of Bali go we're gonna be going southbound to Ellensburg currently climbing through 2300 feet I'm almost there Ellsberg is Airport crime in this valley you'll see in a few minutes and has a flight training there there's no tower there is flight training so this should be a lot of radio chatter once we get over the hills here it's on the same frequency as Wenatchee that's kind of convenient that way this Ridge here is called jump off Ridge the Unicom Cherokee one two zero tango can I get a radio check please loud and clear little fuzzy but I understood you radio now the clutch light went on which is not unusual alright so here we are and now we get on course so about that clutch light so what the clutch light goes on in an hour forty for an hour twenty two all it means is that the clutch is engaging which means that it is slightly adjusting its position it's normal for it to go on inflate falsely in power changes which was not the situation here but also a little bit of light turbulence will go on I'm also really not the situation here sometimes it just goes on it's not an issue unless it stays on for more than say 10 seconds or if it starts pole occurring that's never a good thing but that has not happened actually it hasn't happened in any of the Robinsons I've had for 20 years but I do notice that every time it goes on I just don't comment on it a little bit off-course here let's go more to the right here that very traffic is one side - I fell off a house that way 3-0 without me so this area here is known as the Calaca but just kind of weird to say and there are elk up here and I know that because I showed them some elk to some passages just the other day they wanted a tour of the places where pears grow which is a pie monitor and cashmere and then they wanted to see elk so I brought them up here and show them some elk it's a hazy day it doesn't look so bad out the front here but off to the side I could see the haze and down where we're going there should be some smoke in the air it still 10 miles visibility so it's not an issue we could wait a little bit while longer I'll put off the a was--that's the automated weather observation system in Ellensburg will get a little closer i school up here 65 degrees woohoo we are at almost 5000 feet above sea level I am NOT the ground the ground is lower I like to keep it that way [Music] if we see any elk if I see any L I'll try to give you a view without really going off course do you watch I'm kind of in a hurry not let me hurry I just like to get down there relax a few minutes before the examiner arrives about seeing any help and no I will not be videoing my checkride somebody asked me if I would and I won't I don't think the examiner would stand for it first of all and I just don't think it's the kind of thing I want to share there's a limit to how much y'all embarrass myself in public it should be clear enough to see about right here oh there it is right there it's gonna be hazy for you I'm not sure if you're gonna see it the little cabins down here this is right around where we saw the l4 a30 x-ray will be a party from the crosswind Oh find a steak that's about read here that is probably Mount Adams can you see that I don't know if you can see that it's pretty big it's also pretty hazy you could see though this oak level the fire is southwester valence burn where I'm going so Ellsberg's down this valley up in front of us so elicit to the ATIS the a wasp ability 1-0 sky conditions clear temperature one-niner celsius dew point 1 or 2 celsius altimeter 3 0 0 1 remarks density altitude 2,600 the Bowers Field Airport Ellensburg Washington automated weather observation one and five to seven Zulu when zero seven zero at zero three sky conditions clear temperature one-niner Celsius 2.12 Celsius altimeter 3 0 0 1 remarks dead to the altitude 2600 so that's the recorded weather observation much wind it's clear change the altimeter I was already a little bit higher here than in action and now we're hearing traffic from the palace burg the airports are on the same frequency but because there's this bridge between them there's a lot of not very much Oh Ellensburg traffic to be herded when Angie or Wenatchee traffic to be held with bird in Ellensburg unless their traffic is really high it's all line of sight and I empty septic the biggest challenge for a helicopter pilot is fine tipping anyway he's finding the airport I believe landed at Ellsberg once before even though it's so close it's only 20 minutes away there's really no reason to go here til there's no tower sticking up I could smell the smoke of the fire the fire is like oh it's per letter or 11 o'clock position so I'd say right over there there's a TFR that's a temporary flight restriction to prevent people from flying in there and that includes drones so if anybody listening is a drone pilot if don't just go fly where there's a fire to go look at it make sure that there's no TFRs if you enter a TFR where this fire fighter is working and you bring you know enter it with the drone or or an airplane for that matter or a helicopter they will shut down firefighting and you could cause loss of property so please don't do that Helzberg traffic helicopter sent five before Delta's seventh to the northeast we are descending through 3,800 feet to landing Ellsberg I think I see it right there a lot of farmland out here they grow a lot of alfalfa up at the hills on the other side of the valley and then over to the next Valley there's some orchards Yakima is out that way to the south of here dr. Lara has a lot of orchards and they also grow hops for making beer so the rules governing helicopters coming into an airport with a lot of traffic which elephant Ellsberg because it has flight training it usually has a lot more traffic than one at you the rules are to avoid the flow of fixed-wing traffic so I should not be entering a traffic pattern which is good like who they want who wants to do that where I want to go is on the south side of the airport so I will probably cross the runway and I usually cross that about 500 feet above the airport which is 500 feet below the traffic pattern for airplanes and elsewhere traffic helicopter report Delta is two to the Northeast when he's crossing the runway 50 landing on the ramp are there any aircraft in the pattern Ellsberg to us left okay work way in front of me that clutch light again changed my power setting reduce power but on very common and ellsberg traffic helicopter before delta cross never went Mayfield and there seems to be a crowd at the fuel pumps but looks like I am not getting fuel do where do I go oh over here I don't want park next that guy it looks too lightweight looks like I'll blow them away if I pull his died down let's park at the end here looks like they used to be a cheap base here and they moved him well for traffic booty Niner a box darling at the party - now we'll be eastbound Elberton ellsberg Gina come helicopter 3 for Delta that's it I'm here cuz see if they have a fuel truck I don't think they do I'm not gonna wait on line behind all those airplanes with the engine running I should have enough filled with my checkride looks like I got over an hour's worth left and the right never go longer than an hour though I'm good should make it interesting though because it'll be extra lightweight for the auto rotations that'll make us float born I'll help you enjoy the flight it wasn't very long I like keep it up short once in a while and keep tuning in and subscribe can't say that enough thanks a lot bye
