and in fact I would start my day with my biggest tightest longest hug was with Sanjay sir always I would just go and catch him and hug him and then we like okay now I can start I don't think I've ever had a conversation about anything else other than hamandi while I've been working on this uh entire show uh he eats sleeps breathes walks talks just his work that's how consumed he is by it the best costumes the best jewelry the best set the best uh dop the best crew the best ads the best sanj sir I mean like it's really the best and um your Costa everything is perfect at least [Music] [Applause] [Music] script hello everyone this is AA and welcome to instant Bollywood I'm in conversation with the fabulous cast of H Mandi sonaki Taha and fine so nice to have you all thank you so much uh I want to start off by saying I watched a few episodes I want to say I love the show genuinely um it's so big and at the same time the characters the story everything is something that I connected with as an audience uh but I want to understand as actors the first thing that actually came in my head is how graceful each one of you all are right from the mannerisms to the costumes to everything how um difficult was that to embibe even the pronunciations even when you say Akbar it's with that yeah I can't do it how how did you all embibe all of that uh we had uh a person on set especially to monitor our dialect uh we M maam who was very very helpful uh she did a few very strict very strict very strict she would she would come immediately if there was no n on the so uh we had that and I think sir was also very particular about you know him and how he is with details right this is one of those details that he really really took care of and uh we did a few readings uh where we got the sort of lingo the Udu that we needed to speak where and all of that so yeah we had we had some help yeah I mean we had we had uh workshops for dial I mean I read it with her twice so those are my readings yeah what about the boys even for y all there was a certain level of Grace that came looked so so natural and effortless like for girls of course it was the dance and a lot of other things but even for you guys how did that go I mean getting the physicality right is is something of course you consciously work on and of course whether whether you you you refer to films of of the time but I mean uh also just just the way it's being written the way the costumes were put together and once you wear them and you're with your jewelry on and once you walk onto that set it automatically brings out a different aspect within you and you you literally feel Regal and graceful and you got to have a certain gravitas and there certain formality and there's a certain different value system we know you belong to a different world so I mean all of that of course comes in the process but but you generally have have have an idea that that that you you're meant to be grateful graceful and and and and Polished and where status and what you show and probably present yourself all accounts for a lot you know luckily I was working when me worked on a previous show called yes I think that kind of like rubbed off on us on here and of course was a big help I was not lucky enough to have readings right but umt least so I feel that you know any kind of practice that we did was mostly because of uh Mia m i guess on set and then rehearsals with other actors and like Farin B rightly said so once you as actors you kind of adapt to the settings that you're in and the language the the clothes that you wear all of this kind of you know it helps helps you embe that character very easily yeah but like as actors I think important for you guys to fully be in the skin of the character and like sonaki said that you know he attention to detail is a very big deal in this and it doesn't go unnoticed but as actors does that help you a little more uh than playing other characters just because because the details are so focused on that you can dwell into the character a little easier honestly sanj s lays it out for you you have the best of everything the best costumes the best jewelry the best set the best uh dop the best crew the best ads the best Sanjay sir I mean like it's really the best and um your Costa everything is perfect and it's a very very immersive experience so for us it like really when people talk about preparation for us apart from dialect learning our lines you know making sure we've done our you know dance rehearsals correctly it is to be present and to surrender to a genius and that's what I think we all did and we enjoyed doing it and he challenged us because he believes in us more than we imagine what we can do and he he feels that we can he pushes us to beyond what we imagine we could be pushed to and we're grateful for it and he also really loved us so much and gave us so much to sort of you know reel in so it was really very very it's really amazing and a very very beautiful experience for each one of us but uniquely yeah but like uh I've heard how stck andj so can be on set and you know is there a certain pressure because of which you all you know feel like that performance pressure ke I have to give my best today and sometimes you get scared like to be as honest as possible was there ever a Fear Factor in front of fear good because fear makes you want to do better you know fear I think if you don't have fear and you think you're very relaxed then uh you know that that inner spark that you it doesn't it doesn't it doesn't rise you know what I mean so but when you have that fear that you want to make him happy you know you don't want to upset your co-stars you know because everybody comes in with a certain preparation everybody's comeing with a certain experience you know especially all these people plus Manisha Ma and Fa Jalal and whoever it is you don't want to come off Half Baked right so yes I think that I feel that yes there was for me there was a little bit of uh fear but the fear always was to be better it was always to like she said be in the moment and and not kind of wander off not lose focus so for me I think fear kind of helped me push myself to the next level you know I I wouldn't say he's strict I would just say he demands the very highest of himself feeling of of himself and that's what he demands from the people he works with and you know you have to rise to the occasion and meet the challenge because I mean what he's trying create is pretty pretty unique and special and spectacular you know he take you to like adii said earlier he takes you to places where you yourself sometimes don't know you can go and or you have that when you or you you you you you harness a certain emotion you know so so you have to rise to that challenge and and his knowledge in every Department of film making he's a true Master you know so it's it's it's it's daunting and intimidating yes but you got to channel it right he's also honestly hardest on himself oh he's very hard on himself I think he's the kind of person who will never Short change his vision first of all um his art his work and of course um everything that he's you know trying to make and put together so he's very particular so he will push you to your limits it's to for him uh yeah like I've never seen the man's I don't think I've ever had a conversation about anything else other than Hira Mandi while I've been working on this uh entire show uh he eats sleeps breathes walks talks just his work that's how consumed he is by it and if he is demanding so be it that's what he deserves that's love makes you feel like so he is in love with what he does that's amazing but his actors everything but can you all be like relax chill like the camaraderie you were sharing off screen right now can you switch off from your character or you'll have to be in that zone because it's so dark and painful even your characters each one of them are so gray and have reasons for what they doing but can you switch off from that and like have fun with each other characters are so fun people are so fun I mean I shot a few scenes with her I've shot a few scenes with her in each other's Vans eating She's always feeding people clearly right and so is Sharm Sharm is always very F Sharm feeds everybody always feeding people junk yeah I would feed them I would go to her for hugs oh but it's necessary to break off I don't think you can like constantly be stuck to that character once you on set you have to be professional about it but I guess once once you're once you have some time off I guess we get to bond with each other and um that's the that's those are the memories that you kind of take home with you right end of the day after the shoot is done everything's done you take back relationships um and U I think that's the most important that you build relationships with so many people on set um and for me that's the most important thing that I take back yeah we and it was really chill and in fact I would start my day with my biggest tightest longest hug was with Sanjay sir always I would just go and catch him and hug him and then we like okay now I can start the reason I sorry it's it's such an important aspect to you know break away and you know really get to know each other because I think you know when you're on set you're actually quite vulnerable to each other so when you actually get to know one another you know there it's like a trust building exercise and you understand each other better and you you know you allow yourself to be more vulnerable with the people you work with and that's that's a very important factor in in in in any creative process I think just to be able to be relaxed and feel free and we had never met and we were like doing that like post MRA there was that kind of what do I say Roman romantic scene thank you intimate intimacy intimacy yeah which and and this happens right with actors but on a good set it happens like that and also the characters are very very intense like I would not want to be faran off camera me her I'd be breaking friendships and breaking you had so much fun doing it yeah taking Revenge yeah so yeah we had to kind of uh compartmentalize the reason I asked this cuz I've met so many actors who go like you know Z we don't talk to anyone on set so I was like okay if it's so intense are you all also coming from the same school of I feel I feel that those it depends on the scene to be very honest if there's like I don't know if you've seen that but anyway there were there was one or two scenes where it's very very intense and if you just until this until the scene is shot right um and if you don't don't it's not NE NE for you to um break off and have a little laughter here and there I feel you need to be focused and you need to be in that character you need to be in that moment where you know for me especially in tense scenes I need to go inside myself but on our said there was like once we walked into shahim mahel or what isan's house called there there was a sense of decorum also because there's so many people trying to just get the work done you know but the moment we exited [Laughter] actually I have to ask you the choices that you've been making recently are so amazing I have loved the heart uh I love H Mandi also with double XEL being a different kind of a film uh do you feel like you are getting your due but with hamand just going to take it a notch higher is that an expectation I think it's definitely going to be big but that's not the intention with which I go into my characters I I'm I'm just looking right now for good roles um things that are different from each other so that I myself don't get bored playing the same thing over and over again and that's been a a constant effort actually for the last 7even eight years uh I think ever since I stepped into Akira uh you know I've always tried to choose characters that are very different from each other portray strong female characters on screen and that's the path I feel I've chosen a while back and I'm still following um and it's really just paying off well so I'm very very happy and I love the fact that you know there's so much um Range to choose from right now the kind of roles that are being written for women uh it's a great time to be an actor really and my constant effort will always be on just doing things that are different yeah no it's working great for you for sure I can say uh Aditi for you I think when I saw viojan as a character I couldn't think of anyone else except you because there's such a human nice side to her where she's stuck but she's also helpless at the same time and also wanting good stuff to happen happened to all the good people uh did you also read the script and be like I think this is a lot like me like trying to do good I don't know is B like trying to help everybody sleep funay please um but I love that about her she's just so lovely so pure-hearted but I think what really made it special and I'm so so so grateful to Sanjay sir for creating those uh subtext and those um the sort of uh layers in her in her characters that do not make you know a a oneone like a one-tone character because girls tend to get sort of typ cast into one tone characters so if they're good they're just sweet and pure hearted but he gives her fire he gives her purpose he gives her agency he gives her a sense of anger and in you know a sense of Injustice that she work to that she works towards and she achieves but that that righteousness which I loved and that is Sanjay s and that is so uniquely him so I'm so grateful that I got that life as a part of my being yeah yeah no absolutely very well played uh I know everyone's asked you a lot about you know coming back after a while and we've missed you uh but I want to ask you as an actor to it's always good to hear that You' get missed yes yes uh did you feel like a sense of huge Satisfaction Just being on set and just you know I the process I it's not just satisfaction I I'm extremely grateful you know it's it's not very often that when you take a gap of 12 years that one you know you're you're remembered by you know your audiences your work seems to have touched them on some levels and you know they they they're looking forward to seeing you in uh you know this new phase and and uh beyond that you know uh just getting a chance to work again you know after a gap of long years it's almost half a generation we talking about the whole landscape of film making has has changed the kind of films that are made has changed the audiences have changed so I mean that automatically sets in you know certain inherent fears and apprehensions and but at the same time I've I've come back with you know the nervous excitement of a newcomer so so it's it's it's 12 years is a long Gap so that's that in itself has its own charm and I'm just extremely grateful for you know having got the chance to work with of course Mr bansali I mean every actor dream to to be able to directed by him the way he presents his actors you know no one no one else really does uh lastly the I want to ask you've gone from being like a red flag in Ladi and like a green flag in this I mean uh how did you probably see your character cuz I remember watching L the end and remember like anytime any of my friend would have a heartbreak I was like go let's break his car wow like that was a thing so how was it to actually come on this side to play that character I'm naturally a green flag let's just say that no flag says that yeah that's also true son excuse me in the house excuse me all right no no no we listen to him all right um loveka the end was very very long ago and um I'm glad that you recommend the film right for people to watch uh but besides that I feel that Mr bansali has inshallah she's seen something different in me and um you know after love C the end I was constantly approached for certain kind of roles um which were of the same genre and uh lucky for me I guess first of all Taj came across where I was lucky enough to also work on that and ADI was in that as well um and this one came as a very big surprise to be very honest because initially I was cast as a red flag navab right I was I was cast for a three-day role which was a red flag guy and then he saw something else in me in which he increased my role to tazar and uh nobody could expect and and nobody could you know when they say be at the right place at the right time I guess something like that you know it's Destiny and um so I'm so honored and so privileged to be you know to have this character shift and to be shown like how Farin B just said you know the way that he portrays your character and displays you to the world is very different so I'm glad that the world can see me in a different light right now and um my true side all right but what's but she has a point excuse me no but I have to say thank you so much for chatting with me love the show and I'm sure it's going to do really really well all the very best for H Mandi and everything coming and thank you thank Youk please like share and subscribe to instant Bollywood [Music]
