[Music] hello everybody Mike Kramer here from Miller indices we're here today to show you another example of heavy-duty rear towing attachments today we're going to utilize the kingpin towing attachment and show you the simplicity's and a few tips and tricks on how to hook it up first you're gonna want to lower your under reach down so you can install your rear towing attachments you're going to want to read move your retainer pin and take your fork receiver and face it towards the ground on the inboard position [Music] [Applause] [Music] with the receivers facing down you take the pintle hook attachment insert it into the receivers without the pintle hook on it because this is where the kingpin attachment attaches to the unit itself now we're installing the end cap so we can use these to chain the axles up now you install the other end cap and their safety retaining pins for your pintle hook and now we're going to install the actual kingpin attachment itself then you just line up the holes and insert the pin through and put your safety latch on on this tractor today we have the Kenworth eight bag air glide suspension which is one of the more difficult suspensions to hook up to when you're towing a tractor from the rear before hooking up this attachment you must dump the air ride suspension now the kingpin attachment is fully installed we're gonna have to raise the under reach up high enough to clear the frame rails of the truck back up some so we can reach the fifth wheel and we'll install this for you and now we're going to extend the under reach out and insert the kingpin into the fifth wheel itself and probably the most important part of this hookup it's making sure the fifth wheel jaws are locked onto the kingpin the most important part of this hookup is making sure that the fifth wheel jaws are locked onto the kingpin attachment itself now that we have the kingpin attachment secured to the fifth wheel itself you're gonna want to use at least a 20 foot long 3/8 grade-a T chain and a ratchet binder the first thing you want to do is take your chain hook it on to the end cap and leaving yourself probably an 8 or 10 link tail hanging over then take your chain and put it behind the rear axle make sure that you're missing any skm rods brake chambers or ABS water if you don't want to cut or Bend anything now you can take the excess chain and throw it forward so you can tie up the front axle and now you pull the excess chain around your second axle pulling it tight and hooking it back to the chain on the other opposite side and now you're gonna take your ratchet binder hook it to the tail we told you to leave earlier pull the chain as tight as you possibly can get it and hook your ratchet binder on and then simply just tighten it up any access chain you can just simply hook right back here in the grab hook just so it doesn't drag we're just going to repeat the process on the passenger side as we did the driver's side [Music] the reasoning for the change as this application is not designed to handle the weight off the fifth-wheel plate or the kingpin bracket here it's designed for the way to be held by the chains all the kingpin and v will do is keep it centered and locked in and now we're just simply lifting the truck up off the tires as you can see the chain is actually suspending the load there was no gap on the fifth wheel and sucking it in to where it can be safely towed and now we're going to install the safety chains you always want to install the safety chains because you never ever know what could happen out there on the road [Music] and always remember to secure your steering wheel when towing any vehicle from the front or rear and last but not least we install our tow lights and now we're ready to roll [Music] hey everybody thanks for watching hope you learned a few tips and tricks it in how to use the King 10 attachment and subscribe to our news feed for the latest tips and tricks for Miller industries this video is for product demonstration purposes only and is not intended for training or instructional purposes situations vary and operators should rely on their own professional knowledge and safety procedures when conducting actual Recovery's Miller industries the world leader in towing and recovery equipment [Music]
