I love this song.
And I know they lyrics are a little βdarkβ or depressing. Saying that bad times are coming. Forgerty has implied itβs about the band being at the height of their careers, but still being depressed and about the rising tension in the band.
Somehow, though, it always sounds uplifting and inspiring to me. Something about Fogertys voice, the chord progression, etc. just sounds so hopeful to me. Itβs hard to describe how it makes me feel, but I love it.
Fit so perfectly with the SG1 finale
I saw 'em live with my dad. They played this song soon after it started raining on the crowd. Was cool
Thatβs why this song is special to me Sg1!!!!!
Rest In Peace, Dad. I miss you. πΊπΈ
"Have you ever seen Lorraine?"
This song is just so good I have nothing else to add. Sorry for wasting your time having to read this comment, fellow redditor.
One of my favourite blues rock of all time
The song is biblical - from its allusions to the Tower of Babel and the flood - and topical, with its references to the Soviets' 5-year plans and FDR's New Deal. That's an enormous amount of ground to cover in a 3 minute pop song, but Fogerty does it sublimely.
