dangerous witches we've already taken several looks at the Lone Star State and we're still digging more paranormal madness up from its sands which is why the speakeasy is bringing you our list of the most haunted roads in Texas starting with number five Bowden Road Bowden Road in Walker County is located just to the southwest of the city of Huntsville which lies about 70 miles north of Houston in the East Texas piney woods the city of Huntsville was formed somewhere around 1836 when pleasant and Ephraim Gray opened a trading post in the area just a year later in 1837 Ephraim accepted the title of the first postmaster naming the small community after his hometown of Huntsville Alabama now a gravel road Bowden started as nothing more than a dirt trail and over the years has built quite the reputation among paranormal investigators everywhere at the end of bowden sits an old graveyard called Martha's Chapel Cemetery and many speculate the hauntings experienced along bout and are spilling on to the road from here dubbed demon Road bout and earned its nickname from the wide range of disturbing occurrences experienced throughout the area including little handprints forming on the windows an uncomfortable feeling causing some to leave the area and strange red lights that shoot to and fro through the skies on numerous occasions motorists driving this stretch especially at night report their cars stalling for no apparent reason leaving them stranded as they watch the ghost of a little boy on a tricycle with red glowing eyes pedal his way slowly toward them several who have braved midnight walks on Bowden have also reported being stalked by a faceless creature that threatens any who cross its path if you're thinking of taking a mosey down this ominous stretch be warned as local legend has it all entities about and Road are malicious and several have even been linked to various car crashes and injuries number four Lindsay Hollow Road Linsey Hollow Road in McLennan County is located in Waco lying along the Brazos River and I thirty-five halfway between Dallas and Austin this area has seemingly always played home to human life with indigenous peoples in the area spanning across thousands of years of history the area that now holds present-day Waco is occupied by the Wichita tribe known as the Waco in 1824 Thomas M Duke was sent to explore the area during heavy conflict between the Waco and the settlers his report to stephen f austin considered by many to be the founder of texas halted an attempt to destroy their village in 1825 however he made a treaty with them and eventually the Waco were pushed out of the region the first city blocks were designed and started in 18-49 followed by construction of the first homes since very early in the town's history in the mid-1800s local legends began sprouting up regarding a particular road now Lindsay Hollow Road as the story goes two brothers sharing the last name Lindsay tore through the area thieving and causing all sorts of mayhem they were eventually caught and strung up along this humble dirt path over time being an efficient byway it was paved and kept through city construction it said that the tortured souls of the Lindsay brothers are doomed to walk this stretch for all eternity and that when the moon hits the trees just right you can still see their bodies swinging according to local reports the brothers full-bodied apparitions are cited here quite often with many walkers and parked motorists describing the disembodied sounds of spurred boots clanking through the night as well as being overcome with an extreme feeling of fear on several more unnerving occasions motorists and even several police officers accompanied by canine units have reported their animals reacting as if someone is right outside their car while it's moving number three molar Road molar Road is located just outside of the humble town of electra in Wichita County Elektra boasts a population of less than 3,000 people and grew from the humble roots of what was original the Wagner family ranch in 1852 the small community was originally dubbed simply Wagner around 30 years later the railroad hit the area with a post office and train station following in 1889 the community underwent a name change to Beaver switch in association with the nearby Beaver Creek the land was then open to new farmers and families as they moved to the area and finally in 1907 it was renamed electra in honor of electro wagner heiress to the wagner ranch molar road is a small unassuming dirt back road just outside of town if one travels molar they're sure to come across an old partially ruined bridge as local legend has it a woman from the town's earlier days was accused of witchcraft and was burned right on the bridge it's since been dubbed screamin Sheila bridge and many who approach especially at night report hearing the disturbing screams of the witch as she burns for all eternity with many also reporting hearing a strange chanting sound another story surrounding the road tells of a car crash in the 1970s a husband and wife were arguing while driving down the road when they lost control of their vehicle and flew off the road slamming violently into a nearby tree miraculously the husband was ok but his wife was pinned inside the vehicle he ran for help but when he was gone the vehicle caught fire burning the woman dubbed Sheila alive and whether or not the first or second story is true it's now said that those who visit this particular stretch of road at night can hear Sheila screaming in the distance on several more disturbing occasions witnesses have described a dark apparition appearing and shouting curses at them as well as a burning sensation that falls over their entire body also reported here bright lights like that of a fire seen in the distance that when approached disappears suddenly and on several disturbing occasions the full-bodied apparition of Sheila who appears in a burned State whimpering with charred skin hanging from her bones number two stagecoach road marshal is a city in Harrison County Texas that was officially founded in 1841 this particular region was developed with cotton plantations in mind and many transported large numbers of slaves with them from other lands or purchased them from the domestic slave trade at a time it boasted the highest slave to owner ratio in the state and the wealth of the county was almost entirely dependent on slave labor and the cotton market marshal was occupied by Union forces on June 17th of 1865 and by 1873 the Methodist Episcopal Church founded Wiley College to educate freedmen after which point ironically African Americans came back to the city in search of opportunity and protection from bigotry stagecoach road is an old red dirt road to the northeast of Marshall ominously lined with tall oak trees whose branches reach out and touch effectively blocking most of the sunlight stagecoach has been used as a means of transportation since the 1800s and local legend tells it's been cursed for almost as long as the story goes a voodoo priestess in the early to mid-1800s was ran from New Orleans she fled into the night turning up in Marshall weeks later the town's folk learned of her powers however and became terrified they formed a mob cornered her and executed her by way of hanging it said the tree she was strung up in was just off of stagecoach road it's also said that her death or possibly a curse opens something very evil on this shaded Street and to this day those brave enough to travel it commonly report phantom horses spectral children and even women in white lingering on the sides of the road on more than one occasion witnesses have reported pulling over for only a moment and watching in horror as little handprints appear on their windshield sometimes appearing not human in nature the ghost of the voodoo priestess herself has been cited by many an unfortunate visitor holding a shrunken head in one hand and reaching for their souls with the other local legend also states that she is extremely dangerous and has been linked to numerous injuries and several deaths so should you catch sight of her it's probably best to flee the area lastly numerous reports of strange disfigured and otherworldly looking animals crossing the road have recently surfaced with some thinking them to be skinwalkers and others claiming them some sort of top-secret experiment number one old foamy Road Cleburne Texas is located in Johnson County and was named after Patrick Cleburne a General for the Confederacy formerly it was known as camp Henderson and acted as a temporary civil war outpost from which County soldiers would depart for war most of them under the service of general Cleburne the city was formally incorporated in 1871 with agriculture as their main trade until 1898 when the Santa Fe Railroad arrived bringing a large facility with it it was this period that marked the start of a massive population boom at the time and now as of 2018 the town boasts over 30,000 residents old foamy Road named after a river intersecting the stretch lies just south of Cleburne local legend has deemed it haunted by one of the more disturbing apparitions that we've had the displeasure of covering as the story goes since people began roaming the land an abnormal number of dead bodies have turned up around the area of old foamy most found hanged by the neck from various trees while others were found having been brutally murdered this very same areas also reported as playing home to several Colts over the centuries up into modern times and their remains as well as live satanic rituals have been discovered and cited by unlucky travelers those driving or walking old foamy Road in the surrounding area have reported a wide range of supernatural happenings including ghostly screams and cries in the night the snapping sound of bodies being lynched and even pale full-bodied apparitions in clothing from different eras seen wandering aimlessly through the fields especially on foggy nights in several instances orbs and strange apparitions seemingly made out of smoke or light have been caught in photos and videos more than one occasion Daredevils braving the road during the witching hour have reported physical contact from unseen forces sometimes resulting in serious injury as well as the inexplicable sensation of choking on water when they near the river several of these witnesses have also recounted returning to their homes to find all of their clothing in their closets soaking wet and what of the disturbing entity we mentioned well we saved the best or in this case the most frightening for last the most famous creature said to roam this spooky stretch incidentally shares the same name old foe me old foe me the creature is said to be a type of goat man skinwalker or Sadier he's described as seven feet in height hairy and seemingly half human and half goat local legend claims the monster makes its home near the adjacent stream feeding off centuries of dead bodies and negative energy and if one parks their vehicle just close enough turns off their lights and honks the horn three times the Beast will appear in a rage the creature is said to possess incredible strength blinding speed and on several occasions has throw in dead animals at cars or even walkers from bushes to scare them away it's not all fun and pranks however and multiple drivers have reported the Beast attempting to break windows and even jumping
