You might recall that the horrendous Nirbhaya incident happened around 8 years ago which outraged the people so much that they came out on the streets to protest Candle marches were organized to India Gate The opposition leaders back then raised their voices, protested and demanded for justice The family of Nirbhaya were persistent in their demand for justice and Nirbhaya finally got it after 8 years Imagine, if in the case of Nirbhaya, India Gate was blocked the public was prevented from protesting and the opposition politicians that wanted to protest and raise their voices, were arrested Not only this- Imagine if in the case of Nirbhaya, the body was disposed off as quickly as possible, and cremated so that if there was a call for a second round of postmortem, no one would be able to say anything "Sir please just tell me what is burning..." - "I belong to the Crime branch. -Just tell us what is burning" If the entire area was sealed and the media was denied entry If the media tries to enter, deploy policemen outside that would bar them from entering "These policemen are not letting us go forward" "They've surrounded us from all sides..." Along with this, imagine if in the case of Nirbhaya, her family was threatened and blackmailed to change their statement that their girl was not raped, it was a case of murder due to family disputes "-Is the DM giving threats? -Yes, he threatened him and kicked him on his chest" "-Who did he kick? -He..." "It is upto you now if you want to change your statement or not..." And then the entire government system tries to prove that the news of rape was fake Online trolls were let loose on social media to establish that the rape was fake news and a PR agency is hired The job of the PR agency was to set an online narrative that the rape was fake and that this is all a ploy of the opposition Sounds unbelievable, right? I think so too. Even the Bollywood writers cannot come up with such a story But this is exactly what is unfolding in the Hathras case of Uttar Pradesh Honestly, I don't like making videos on such topics First of all, to recount the incidents that unfolded in the crime that took place (rape/murder) is not pleasant And secondly, the people have become so sensitive regarding caste and religion that if you demand for justice for one crime, then they would be like- Leave aside this one, talk about the crime that happened in that Congress ruled case You'd say that you're striving for justice and women safety but would be met with responses like- What about that crime that happened against the upper caste victim Talk about the crime that the people from the other religion perpetrated. Why are you silent on that?! The "whataboutism" has become so rampant regarding the crime related incidents that it has become impossible to talk about them There is doubt about the fact that the conditions of women safety are extremely poor in our country today The crimes against women are the same, if not worse than how it was 8 years ago But then what is the reason behind making a video on Hathras? The reason is that it is a unique scenario It is unique because I don't think there has ever been a rape/murder case in our country wherein such desperate cover up attempts were made by the government and the police The police is almost working like a mafia where the opposition leaders are being treated like this, the public are barred from protesting and the media is not allowed and the family is tortured to such an extent and made to go through such circumstances I don't think such a case has ever been witnessed in our country On 14th September, a 19 year old girl, whom I will refer to as Uttar Pradesh's Nirbhaya was in the fields with her mother when this incident occurred. I will not repeat exactly what had happened You might already be aware of this. If not, I'd recommend you watch the ground report of Newslaundry regarding this I will provide the link in the description below. They have interviewed the mother and other relatives who narrate exactly what happened Right from the start, police and other BJP leaders on social media claimed that it was not a case of rape even when her mother was giving contradictory statements "They left my daughter in a terrible condition- she was unconscious and disrobed" On 29th September, the Nirbhaya of Uttar Pradesh succumbed to her injuries in the hospital As this news spread, the enraged people began protesting and demanding for justice The family requested to let them take her body home but the police did not concede Despite hours of pleading, the police did not relent and the same night at around 2:30 A.M, the police cremated the body Generally funeral are conducted during the say, but to do it at 2:30 in the night- What does that indicate? The police claim that this was done with the permission of the family and the family was in agreement with this and the government trolls on the social media spread the same news on the social media that that the family was in agreement but the ground reports of that night narrate a different story altogether There are a lot of videos proving that the police did not listen to the family and lit the pyre without their consent Why could have this been done? What do you think? What would strike your mind when you hear that the body was cremated hurriedly? According to journalist Tanushree Pandey, who was on the ground that night, the police locked the family inside the house at 2:30 A.M and around a hundred police officers surrounded the house from outside They stood with sticks to prevent the family from escaping when the body was being burnt It was also clear that the mediapersons were not allowed near the body and the police refused to answer to anything "-Sir, please just tell me whether it is the body or what? -I have no right to speak -I am a third scale police officer, I have no right to give statements in India -What is burning in the background? -Someone must know what it is...? -I cannot say anything -What is burning? -Have you spoken to the DM?" There are many such minute details where the UP police say something and the family claim something contradictory In one instance the family claims that her backbone was broken but the police deny that But what is the conclusion? Think about it yourself? What was the need to cremate the body at 2:30 in the night? I can reach only one conclusion- The police did not want any further examination to be conducted on the body which could spill the beans and divulge that this was a case of rape because the police is completely denying that this is a case of rape When pressure mounted on social media, the Uttar Pradesh govt constituted a Special Investigation Team for further investigation But a fun fact that not many of you know- the Uttar Pradesh police comes under the ambit of the Uttar Pradesh government In fact, broadly speaking, the Uttar Pradesh police dances to the tunes of the Uttar Pradesh government That hold true for every state- All the state police dance to the tunes of their respective state governments and is extremely politically influenced, with the exception of Delhi- because Delhi is not a full state The next day, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi declare that they would go to Hathras on foot as a form of protest But the police stopped them on the Noida expressway and bars them from going any further A scuffle broke out and Rahul Gandhi was even pushed to the ground This is a very shocking incident- Not because Rahul Gandhi is finally out on the streets to protest but because it causes us to wonder if this is how the biggest face of opposition is treated, what would be the plight of the common man! How must the police be treating a common man? And think about it- Does it happen in any democratic country that one is denied the right to even walk and protest? Rahul Gandhi had even offered to walk alone if the entire crowd would not be allowed to walk to Hathras but the police denied even that and physically blocked him. This only happened during the time of the British Government "I've stopped them. I've told that none of them would go ahead- But I'll go" A similar treatment was meted out to Derek O Brien the next day. The same day, some shocking things happened The Hathras DM (District Magistrate) was caught on camera talking to the victim's family and saying that they could change their statement if they wanted to. Half of the media has left and the other half would leave too. What would they do then? Hear it out yourself- "Don't erode your credibility Half of the media has left today, the other half would leave by tomorrow We are here with you though, right? Now it is upto you whether you want to change your statement or not..." On 2nd Oct, a protest was planned near India Gate, Delhi but in response the government said that all gatherings were banned there But fortunately, at the time of making this video, the public is now protesting against the same thing at Jantar Mantar Section 144 has been imposed in Hathras and the entire village has been sealed so that the media is not able to go and meet the family while on the other hand, the family is being blackmailed By chance, the brother of the victim escaped stealthily and reached the media persons and he said this- "My uncle was also coming and insisting that he would bring the media along -Is he being threatened? -Yes. He was also kicked in the chest" You can see the attempts being made to what extent to sweep things under the carpet and conceal the truth All limits were crossed when it surfaced that a PR agency was hired to spread the lie and set the narrative that there was no case of a rape Several journalists publicly exposed on the social media the emails being sent to them by the PR agency telling them to spread the news that the forensic investigation agencies have ruled out the case of rape According to latest reports, the mobile phones of the victim's family have been seized by the Uttar Pradesh police and the phones of the media outside are being tapped to monitor what they are talking and some of their phones have also been seized You can imagine the kind of "Jungle raj" prevalent in Uttar Pradesh There is almost a mafia like nexus between the police system and the government On the face of it, the DM has been suspended according to the latest action by the Uttar Pradesh government But we know that the police does not take such actions independently- Had they been independent, they wouldn't have acted so The orders are always received from above. They are always political orders Because think about it- Why would the police want to save the rapists and the murderers? But a politician might want to do this because of caste reasons It is being alleged by some that the rapists belong to the "Thakur" caste- the same as that of Yogi Adityanath This is why attempts are being made to shield them That is what some people allege Secondly, some people allege that this is being done for media management- to maintain the image that the CM of Uttar Pradesh does a good job He always takes care of the law and order This is why the people belonging to the lower ranks would be fired or suspended Infact, all the actions would be taken that are necessary to maintain the image of the CM In such a case, a solution to deal with the situation is pretty evident And that solution is to separate the political system and the police and make the police more independent which can be achieved by police reforms- which has been explained by me in this video If you want to know the solutions to avoid such a situation in detail, they are present in this video you can watch this video by clicking on the "i" button Making laws won't suffice. Unless they are implemented correctly, the nation will not improve and such cases will not stop and the independence of the police is extremely important for implementation Furthermore, till CMs like this are in power who are of the opinion that women are not capable of being left independent, How can you expect safety of women in the country and in Uttar Pradesh?
