did I say I've had enough of the snow did you hear me when I say it's time to go and did I tell you that the place for me is right below that old palm tree now you're saying you're coming too that's good to know looks like when they turn about so let's keep moving we are founder rolled into the Sun lightning strike in Napa yeah where they turn about in Harley Davidson hill in his sidekick in our styling department fella by the name of movie nets we're a little braver than I was we've drove the first day and a half in a snowstorm little ice along with it when I heard about the weather I grabbed an airplane flew to Roanoke Virginia and that was long enough for me but it's a hell of a good way to learn about a new model [Music] [Applause] my husband raced the first ten or twelve races here and that was in our younger years and we saw the God did find the bug you might say and every year afterwards we came because there is an excitement you don't overcome once you get here and so we the treacherous black groove [Music] the last lap the crowd roaring its approval plants Jones and Ted booty will put harley-davidson and victory circle at the Daytona short track I don't forget bands lot of detail things that have been done to you know coupe the overall engine actually those those improvements are going back into the 1200 as well well we feel that every one of those things my infield that countdown is in its final seconds for the launch of the Daytona Supercross fingering that controls like concert violinist 40 of the best athletes in Motorsports depart the starting gate for a motocross drag race to turn one inside goes number 49 on the harley-davidson dawn killer Kowalski he's a Florida veteran a master of the treacherous sand that makes up this course the superstars are all here to fly for precious points at big bucks over a twisting turning two mile course studded with incredible man-made obstacles bike and rider take a brutal founding as kadal ski demonstrates they give me different horse in there to where joy [Music] they were talking about flatheads panheads knucklehead shovel handspring front ends and slicks and Here I am hanging out with brothers and dudes when all I ever knew before was Hicks but I don't know if I can ever catch on to this amusing confusing code called the bikers communication got a lowrider and a came off 57 three-wheeler frame customized 71 Shovelhead in last year dad the step state gonna share one with the shirt bucket no [ __ ] bar last year I ran tubes I'm running a dirty front-end this year last year I ran a pony I'm running on su this short on here is very important to harley-davidson because these guys are really creating some beautiful works of art and there are some ideas down here that we can use in our production motorcycles and I think it's very important for me to understand these riders that know what they're putting together Willie G Davidson is director of design for Harley Davidson Sue's and Bear Den Nixon's force team and stuff I don't know if he was guessing it but city worked pretty good in Jays a very cool and sensible person he adapts himself very easily either to dirt or road racing he just takes it as it comes it makes no difference to him really and it's fun for Jay to race veteran harley-davidson racing team manager dick O'Brien mentor of national champion number one Jay Springstein remembers another Daytona era bell on the old beats course of course a lot different than the day with the closed circuits we have easily it started daybreak in the morning or the tide coming in close you know and line everything up and down the beach you had two full miles of sand beach to run on the pit for all in the heaps and usually by 12 o'clock the tide would be out far enough to start lining the riders up a lot of people felt we lose a lot by going to the old beats course for Speedway we have a practice from 10 times larger than what it was back in those days around the 31 degree high banking speeds on these 250 cc bikes reaching 150 miles an hour Springsteen tucks into the drag [Music] we're going to a lot of concerns for the cruise for the riders there is only the track this international field among the best ever at Daytona the nine turn three point eight seven mile track that has hosted these races since fifty nine camel Pro Series champ Springsteen makes up a road race in experience with ability preparation a good bike and youthful enthusiasm this kid from Flint Michigan Jay Springstein continues the harley-davidson tradition winner of more Daytona races and more ama nationals than any other brand in history [Music] I enjoy I can't describe it everybody says the freedom kicking all that other funny stuff but I just like it you know I didn't know
