all right it's going to be a tour of my 44-inch u.s general harbor freight single cab toolbox this is my home setup this used to be my home setup this is my work setup now we've got everything here at the shop at home trying to condense all the automotive stuff into this cab kind of make some of the projects go a little bit easier so one of them in the background it's a 1980 rabbit pickup truck it's volkswagen a little transverse turbo diesel front wheel drive it's my dream truck when i was a kid i've had a couple got another turbo engine for it over there out of an eco diesel jetta plenty of excuses why it's not done so i'll save them but let's get into this toolbox top drawer this is set up for efficiency and ease of use there's nothing worse than trying to work on a project and not being able to find anything i got this set up primarily uh a and p style with the metric on the right your sae standard on the left if i was really thorough i would have all these vim mag rails color coded properly but uh got a severe shortage of those and they're not cheap so uh ain't happening anytime soon here's the basic idea half inch chromes 3 8 chromes 3 8 impacts half inch impacts these are all your metrics quarter inch chromes my go to implements my sporadic sae stuff it's definitely not as thoroughly sorted as the metric is but i got what i need for when i need it there's some extra stuff that floats around in and out of a milwaukee pack out set up for various jobs or extracurricular activities but this covers 99 of the stuff that i need to do starting at the back this is uh your typical half inch setup from snap-on these go from 12 to 24 in both the deep and shallow i'd love to get a mid set up i'd probably do that in a impact to kind of fill in some gaps snap-on chromes and the three-eighths these sets always go from eight to nineteen this set goes down to uh six just because i found some of those at the flea market so this goes six seven eight to nineteen got the snap on uh deep mid and shallow set with the same configuration eight to nineteen got this little residual seven floating around could live here but i would feel compelled to fill these spots and that has yet to happen now these are all pawn shop scores believe it or not so i didn't drop 300 and some odd dollars per set stuff 10 grand worth of stuff in a 450 toolbox if you did it's cool i'm cheap man so i try to find a deal in the back here i've got a some lesser used sockets this is an autocraft 36 half inch drive i grabbed that for a super duty filter when i was broke down on the side of the road that's a 30 millimeter 12 point snap-on for some vw axles 30 mil six point some other odd stuff this is a cool socket this is for uh volkswagen and mercedes diesel injectors on the old mechanically injected setups kind of allows you to pull the injectors without damaging the barbs pretty useful saved my boat a couple times just got a couple weird uh random adapters swivels this is a three-eighths to half inch this is a short 3 8 extension sometimes you just need that little bit of space these are all on a peg setup so you can kind of lock in where you want your sockets to be we've got these floating around cause i haven't really committed to this setup it's a three-eighths a quarter adapter this is just your typical uh half-inch impacts man these are pittsburgh pros from harbor these these have yet to fail me i can't complain at all this is my reducer setup just kind of stacked them all like russian nesting dolls so this is a actually not reducers this goes quarter to three eighths three eighths to half half to three quarter three quarter to one inch something along those lines these are sweet these are gray pneumatic i picked these up one day kind of on a on a whim they're just a low get that profile focus low profile adapters pretty useful if you want to go from quarter to 3 8 or whatever sometimes when you have one of these big honking adapters it cuts off your access to whatever space you may or not may or may not have so i can solve some problems kind of keep them organized like that it's just a random pittsburgh half inch 3 8 some impact 3 8 extensions these are snap on metric hex sockets and 3 8 drive i love these man these really change the game the tolerances are super tight saves you a lot of trouble from rounding out bolts and whatnot it's nice to be able to stick them on a ratchet and not have to deal with a goofy allen key this is my 3 8 impact swivel set this gets a lot of use this is comprised of a couple different sets that are cobbled together you can't tell the older style snap-on setup of course it's got the og script so that's you know 70s to 80s and these are the modern ones a little bit different they have a little bit better clearance down on the lower part but uh man they're indestructible they're good to go those don't work their weight in gold and for the uh 3 8 impact set this shallow set i think this is gray pneumatic i really like these man uh this set goes from 7 to 19 which is interesting the reason i went with these is uh the quality is incredible for the price you pay i think that set was like 35 or 40 bucks they're chromoly so they're not like chrome vanium chromoly steel laser etched sizing and it's also engraved so if your laser that you never wears off you can still figure out what size it is incredible bang for the buck so that shallow set goes from 7 to 19. this mid set this is a snap-on set i got this on ebay i wear these dudes out this is my go-to i reach for these every single time if i had to get rid of everything in this top drawer and have one set of sockets for metrics this would be it for sure mid-length impacts amazing deeps these are great pneumatics this 14 gets used all the time all the time daily use looks great can't complain for the price can't beat it over here i got these uh these guys i don't know what you'd call them i guess they're a socket to wrench adapter these are pittsburgh harbor freight basically you can put a half inch socket on it pop it in there and you got a wrench flap so if you don't have clearance in an area you want to put a shallow socket on it but you can't fit a big old chunky boy socket or ratchet excuse me you can just toss that dude on there you got yourself a little wiggle room got that in a half inch and three eighths quarter inch super useful a couple of random extensions adapters reducers it's all pittsburgh stuff man pittsburgh stuff's fine to a certain extent i bought this set of impact wobbles pittsburgh pros this is the only one left the 3 8 and the quarter grenaded immediately one of them broke on a ratchet which was uh not cool then i've got these uh quarter inch snap-on setups over here these are mid-length fdx sockets so these are kind of marketed as an extractor socket and they're good for that purpose but it's better to think about them as like a precision socket essentially the tolerances are way tighter on the fdx series so if you're like mildly rounded off or sometimes if you've got brand new fresh hardware i like to use these because it just feels good fits real tight if you're doing engine work i like to use these because then your torque values are super precise because you know there's not any slop in between your socket and your fastener and your torque readings are extra accurate so that's the metric set let's just go from [Music] five five to fifteen i think i think that's the typical set of the ipad 15. it's like a 12-piece set i believe i'm not really counting them right now 12 points gotta have them clutches head bolts whatever another set non-fdx that's the typical setup i don't like this layout it's fine but all these sockets could fit in this much space if i had them on the quarter inch bim vim mag rail but it'll happen eventually and carpenter's pencil over here sometimes you just want to lay out a straight line o'reilly's keychain air pressure gauge nice to have around safety goggles gotta have them especially if you want to look like a professional bass fisherman or a meth dealer whatever you're into it's all good these are just kind of some extra extensions and adapters and sockets i like to have handy this is my go-to your milwaukee stubby three-eighths daily use all day every day it's incredible what this will do this guy gets used way more than i ever expected to this is one of the first ratchets i bought years and years ago i bought it from northern tool i think it's clutch this is a gearless ratchet so it's essentially a sprog sprag clutch setup however you want to pronounce it reversible because there aren't necessarily a gears like a pawl and gear setup in it it's got instant engagement it's cool when you kind of got to get into a tight spot and you can barely get any articulation that's the move man i've got other stubby 3 8 ratchets and i reach for that one 95 of the time this is your uh typical go-to fhlf-80 snap-on three-eighths flex head man you can't beat that that's perfect for most applications quarter inch swivel split th n f 72 72 for 72 points of engagement if you care what else we got here oh back here we keep the big dog the half inch mama jamma if when you're about to have a really bad or good day the wind's blowing part number on this dude s h l f 80 a and man i got that thing on ebay for like 80 bucks shipped so you don't have to spend a million dollars to get super high quality stuff you just got to kind of keep your eyes peeled for a deal that thing is the jam also back here lives uh the big boy that's a what 36 inch half inch to 3 8 impact extension got to have that on uh transmission days getting at those stupid top bolts save yourself a lot of trouble that was 40 bucks at a pawn shop tony man the deals are out there if you want to look the sae side it's pretty weak but this covers everything i've had to do so far this is a gray pneumatic impact setup this is how all my metric ones came in these blue cases injection molded labeled i had these in the pack out for uh grab and go situations they're in here for now same setup shallows up to one inch granomatic these are another set of fdx sockets these are the 3 8 mids and sae same deal man precision fit new hardware torque values deeps these are your typical snap-on chromies i'm going to try to get all this stuff onto these vim vim rails and save myself a lot of real estate so i don't convince myself i need a bigger box because i definitely don't these are 3 8 snap-on impact swivels another pawn shop deal man just got to keep your eyes peeled these are some half inch drive snap on sae allen's wind up using these a lot on industrial equipment or agricultural stuff gotta have them sae long ball end same deal filter wrench strap wrench that's three eights on that side half inch on that side if you're working on anything like a large scale or your filters are this big around and super long gotta have it milwaukee headlamp love it every day use it every day battery lasts all day plug it in before i go home it's good to go the next day that's it man top drawer organized for efficiency [Music] that was not very efficient next drawer wrenches this drawer is lacking severely got a plenty of room for improvement is your basic uh 10 to 19 snap on set oex these are blank drive plus they've got a some sort of technology give you a little bit of a better bite don't like to use them on some hardware sometimes in mars stuff so i have another set that i use this is just boring pittsburgh line wrenches man i think this set was like eight bucks it's fine works great right tools american-made adjustable wrench got that at the flea market for five bucks i said yes please uh we got in here this is my snap-on industrial sae set these came in a wrap similar to this but it was super moldy so i ditched it and tossed it into this bucket boss from northern tool kind of for grab and go stuff but these are these are old man 70s 80s industrial finish they're not chromed but they're cool get the job done love them kind of same story here so these are a brand called extreme torque i believe super affordable we have a outfitter here called a handover tool that distributes a lot of this stuff and go pick it up these normally live in uh the pack out or in the truck it's just a stubby set got an sae and standards nothing crazy but i got like i think seven or eight sets of wrenches that cover the entire gamut of what i needed on the road for i don't know 200 bucks kind of the same story here there's probably five or six more sets of those that i haven't migrated over here but that's the wrench drawer i'd like to have a much wider drawer to keep everything in but this is what we're working with for now this is the nypex drawer love it love it love it uh starting from right to left here we got the big boys the big cobras the super snakes those are awesome you can grab anything with those sometimes i have to compress crusty rusty seized brake calipers those do it quite well sometimes the axles or tie rods or whatever when that thing comes out you mean business there's the alligators a little bit different the jaw setups uh more fastener oriented wrench plier gotta have it man my buddy kevin turned me onto these these will change your life they also work really good as a flat press i use them like that a lot to kind of straighten out bent edges whatnot sometimes you can get those in somewhere you just can't get a wrench this is a smaller set of cobras these get used every day every day standard needle nose in the comfort grip those are great i like these dykes a lot i got them in a this size and this size tend to reach for these more i guess leverage goes a long way these are the mini bolt cutters as you can see i got two sets there this one is uh a zero degree offset this is a 45 degree offset kind of using like a flush cut sometimes if you're ever doing any mig welding i always like to trim my uh trim my wire with those made life a lot simpler these are cool man they got a little release there and they pivot around these points tons of leverage it's just like a bolt cutter but handheld cut a lot of cotter pins with it just whatever up here ultimate move the super minis same as this guy but in bite size form these are good for like an everyday carry pocket set up they come as a set with this and the even smaller cobra minis super useful they came in a little cargo shorts approved pouch clips on your belt i haven't taken it that far yet these are lock ring pliers or circlip pliers commonly found on like uh toyota axles hubs it's kind of hard to get a focus here but they've got a little uh indentation for the end of your clips it's awesome these are all various circlip or snap ring pliers for transmissions or rear ends the other day i was doing a serpentine belt and one of the idler pulleys was held on with the circlip popped it off in 10 seconds with those guys made my life a lot easier good to have so this is the nypex drawer knife snippex canipex call it everywhere call whatever you want man this is the overflow plier drawer hammer drawer these are ikea scissors one dollar amazing you'll be shocked what you can cut with those the flea market drum brake spring stretcher one dollar worth every penny this is uh i think this is a gearwrench maybe it's a lyle i can't remember it's usa made it's probably neither of those um hose clamp crimper cut off a rear good for radiator hoses fuel lines on the truck whatever super old school spring compressor i like this one a lot i don't know why grab onto your springs squeeze them oh baby good for drum brakes working on that riding lawn mower or whatever this is a hard line bender for brakes or whatever hoses or piping you got going on these are long hose pliers these are pittsburgh harbor freight i think the set was like geez 12 bucks or something i use these a lot i got some fuel hose on there to kind of reduce this inner diameter so i could get a smaller hose off i'll upgrade these at some point but man they're great this is residuals of a panel popper set that i need to throw in the trash channel lock welding pliers chip and hammer what is this woods brand crimper good for uh electrical connections milwaukee stripper these are great man i was really surprised by these might have been 12 or 15 bucks stayed sharp work awesome got the lufkin tape measure this has got the uh cheat sheet on it you gotta hand somebody who can't read a tape measure and ask them for a measurement got no excuses that lives there milwaukee vice grips take them or leave them whatever they're cheap probably wouldn't buy them again crescent brand articulating needle noses those are cool i thought i would use them more than i did but glad i have them this is just your standard issue five dollar harbor freight dead blow do not like the handle don't really reach for it if i can avoid it snap-on blow-peen so it's a ball-peen hammer with a dead below internals the ergonomic grip awesome reach for it every time this uh little mini sledge was one dollar at the flea market worth all 100 pennies use it all the time soft face blow it's good if you're trying to be delicate lone pry bar mini pry bar it's on the list man you get full spread this drawer work in progress some mayhew lineup bars ladyfingers stuff's good for industrial work beating and flying on stuff so the harbor freight merlin i think is the brand gage ingersoll rand air hammer game changer man that thing hits this will uh change your life the 119 max makes me want to upgrade the air compressor pickle fork also in your ingersoll rand makes those tire rods a breeze some random blow gun accessories also harbor freight plenty of room for activities expansion come back over here put the ratchet set up some of these youtube videos toolbox tours you see man people have 900 ratchets one of every variety this covers everything i need for the most part man this is the first ratchet i bought pittsburgh pro composite with the stupid backwards indicator is on on is off quick release and i've had that thing for years it is fine old school snap on half inch that's the uh sl710 snap on man hooked it up with the rebuild kit on that kneaded it this guy is a dream the sf710a it's got a half inch body and a 3 8 handle it can really uh savvy a lot of trouble got a fresh head in that newly rebuilt this is a rando proto brand ratchet grabbed at the flea market or a dollar can't complain got some snap-on thumb wheels this is in a half inch you'd think you would never use them but they come in handy man this guy it's one of my favorite ratchets the long 3 8 and the fllf 80. if you don't have one of those get one and this is uh the snap-on lock and flex head i don't love this ratchet it's gonna get replaced probably the fx80 this mechanism is it's all right you wind up bumping it a lot doesn't love to hold this position can't complain if i paid full price i'd be super bummed but i did not this was a random flea market fine too sure looks like it f10 lb 3 8 breaker bar doesn't get a ton of use but good to have this thing i love this thing hard handled flexible quarter inch socket driver wow that thing has gotten me out of so many binds i'll never not have one of those there's a couple of 3 8 stubbies like i said earlier i never reach for these man because i got that gearless one this mac one's cool the knurled handle another 3 8 thumb wheel quarters i keep a quarter inch socket on this particular ratchet so i can toss a bit in there if i need to phillips number two t26 torque whatever this is essentially the same ratchet with no comfort grip tl72 i need a tll72 which is this guy in the long form had one but i lost it this dude very useful tm7d [Music] teeny tiny dude probably older than i am that's the ratchet drawer screwdrivers ain't nothing complicated i like the snap-on drivers i'll probably get a set of wear or a wee hose light eventually but these are awesome man flathead phillips big number three another big number three some precision guys one random stubby this is a an odd drawer this is a sterit mic this is a japanese institutio micrometer this is a infrared thermometer thermometer kind of chilly out here in the garage this thing love it man milwaukee battery soldering iron i was a little bit skeptical but took the plunge and it works great it's real good to have when you're like under a dash or upside down and some sort of weird control panel which takes the m12 batteries it's got ceramic tip so it distributes the heat real well use that thing all the time in combination with this lyle alligator clip magnetic setup put it on there stick your wires in there go to town there's a little electronic jumper set up it's got a little fuse holder in there so if you need to do some vigilante troubleshooting that's the ticket t-handle snap-on hex wrenches really bad waste of space we got to figure something out there also need the metric set junk drawer got some gloves this is where i keep all my hard cases this is the mayhew punch set i really like this setup love being able to grab it and go if i need it got everything you need man everything you need brake set up it's got torque sounds this thing has saved the day a thousand times 20 bucks extractor setup boy i've gotten some rounded bolts off with that 20 bucks at lowe's snap-on allen set this was 15 bucks at the flea market using that six the other day i just found it when i was cleaning up that's the pouch for the nypex lockering set this is uh harbor freight oil filter sockets don't get a lot of use your standard shockwave plugs drill bits driver bits this is the drawer that everybody has but they don't ever want to talk about it the junk drawer it's embarrassing and i can't stand it but we'll get it straightened out here cobalt air ratchet cobalt air drill i could burn this thing out the other day tie rod jammer oil filter wrench goofy test light probably get rid of this stuff pretty soon coil over wrench whatever if all this disappeared tomorrow i wouldn't miss any of it down here got the big boy stuff porter cable angle grinder harbor freight heat gun got some nascar pit road 3m ear protection gotta have those my extra m18 batteries the big dog gotta have it a little bit love it that's it man not a whole lot to it that's what we're working with we're gonna rotate some of that stuff out into this setup try to get a little bit more organized this is kind of one big junk drawer at the moment except for i got some bicycle tools laid out here this makes life real easy aiming for this level of organization on everything i got this is probably going to be a layout fabrication setup maybe some machining stuff who knows that's it boys appreciate you thanks for watching like comment subscribe if you need to know any part numbers man leave it down in the comments i'll try to get you a link or figure something out
