HAPPY NEW YEARS and Branding NEW Cows

[Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] good morning everybody how you guys all doing today i haven't fed these guys in a little in a few days so uh we're just coming out here and we're gonna fill up all these bunks bunks are cleaned right out i'm assuming i haven't even seen them yet but yeah they'd be empty if they're digging through the snow in that old stuff over there then the bunks are empty [Music] left them an extra day here so that they would clean everything up really good they don't hurt them to clean up this stuff [Music] [Music] they're hungry they're diving right into her drop some on the ground right there [Music] so [Music] we'll probably be giving them uh probably five bucket loads here today [Music] so i'm going to continue with this and i'll bring you guys back when uh when we're basically done how's that sound alrighty well here we are with the cheap man's grain trailer hooked up but today it's a cheap man's scrap steel trailer so we got a load of junk in here we're gonna run it into uh regina and get this sucker delivered and get rid of it because there's no point in it sitting in the trailer for an extended period of time that's for sure not when it's getting close to when i could be using this thing i'm just waiting for the wife to get her butt out here so we can get going because she wants to run to the city with me so anyways fun fun but yeah we take our scrap steel into uh inline steel they're a scrap steel uh buyer and then they basically break it down shred it up whatever and sell it to uh everest i guess it's what it's called now it used to be ipsco and the biggest amount of steel they make there is big pipe for uh oil pipelines and stuff like that natural gas pipelines i think some also don't quote me on that but i know a lot of the pipe they make goes for uh oil pipeline anyway talk to you guys later well there that's one way of getting rid of a load of scrap yeah of course it didn't all come out oh you bastard i'm gonna have to get in here and uh scrape it out i guess good thing i brought a shovel we'll bring her down and we'll grab the shovel and we'll scrape her out and then we get to go rescale and then we'll know how much weight we actually had i don't think it was all that much maybe a ton and a half so but we'll find out soon enough we'll talk to you guys later so basically guys when you come to this place here you scale in yeah then you go and unload and then you scale out that way they get your actual weight and i have no idea if they're going to mail me the check or if they're going to pay me cash if i have to take the scale ticket into a different building or if this girl's going to do it right here at the way station i have no idea if they rebuilt all this area over the last year or so two years and i haven't been here so last time we shipped a bunch of scrap off we hired a company to come to the yard and pick it all up but anyway i'll let you know how it all shakes down alrighty well i didn't think i had that much weight on but we had two ton on and the girl paid me right here cash money and i no sooner got the envelope and cp took it on me fix my phone you need to fix her phone look at her phone oh big broken camera screen damn it yeah she stole my cash on me i worked hard for that i bought you cows you bought me cows i guess it's tit for tat and i gotta give in to that one yeah she says she bought me cows but wait until come fall time and it's time to sell cavs and goes thank you very much anyways guys uh we got a little bit of running around here to do in the city so uh we'll catch you guys a little bit later good morning mocha and good morning to everybody else out there or i think it's almost good afternoon i'm not sure what time it is doesn't really matter we're got a cow in the squeeze these are the new cows she's got her new ear tag in orange number one there's cp and the branding irons are heating up you're first i'm first dark it's dark he just needs to focus in a little bit so since we're here let's turn this way there we go there we go uh want to say happy new year here's hoping that 21 is going to be a heck of a lot better than 20 was because 20 kind of sought and hopefully 21 will be a lot better but right now it's not looking good guys i'm sorry to say this but it's not looking good but we got uh 10 head in here that we're gonna put some uh our id tags in them which are basically orange number one to orange 10 i guess is what they'll be getting we're also going to the cows that have ear tags we're going to mark their ear tags their old tags down and we are hot branding them now for some of you that don't know uh the reason for the hot brand is also one of the oldest forms of id on a cow our hot brand is called the flying seven and that brand was given to us by the saskatchewan livestock brand association or something like that authority i guess and uh they're the ones that tell us where the what the brand is gonna be you can pick your brand and the brand that i wanted they wouldn't approve it uh simply because they said it would blotch too much so then as we're talking they says well we can give you this brand nobody has this brand not for cattle somebody does have a flying seven but it's for horses and if i remember correctly it's on a front shoulder and i can't remember it's the right side or the left side but anyway our brand is a flying seven on the rear hip so basically in this area right here is where our brand goes so on the right side rear right hip so we're just waiting for the irons to get hot in there and then we'll buzz this girl and if you guys some of you remember 4-4-1 that tag right there that's this is the cow that uh she calved already and i believe it was a backwards calf we weren't looking for it blah blah blah long story short she camped ten days after we bought her and we lost the calf so here she is 1400 cow and uh she's gonna do nothing for us for another year how's that sound but anyways with no more ado i think i've got an iron that should be hot enough they ain't gonna like this that's for sure they ain't gonna like it now she's got her foot caught there now as calves it would be so much easier to do a calf than this goddamn cow the brand i wanted was a backwards b forwards p that's what i wanted for a brand with a bar on the underside but they wouldn't allow it because they said it would blotch too much and yes they're probably right it would be a son of a gun so this is what they gave us [Laughter] god dang it easy girl there and that's our brand and you guys have seen that on my truck windows so on and so forth so turn this down it doesn't need to be boiling and that's the name of our businesses also don't open that you don't touch that not yet i don't want her coming outside here hey girl we'll open this [Music] and she can go out that way now for cow number two can you get them up i'll stand over here okay we'll bring you guys back after we'll talk to you later orange number 10. let's see right let's see my head oh you'll live a little poopy and uh gonna have one hell of a bruise took a pipe to the brain here you do this video this cow coming out of here watch your hand yeah yeah yeah you ready yeah the chute works okay but it's not a vertical sweet squeeze it only squeezes from the one side and it's a little bit seized up and we had a cow that went down in it so i had to release the side and i couldn't pull this like i built this chute so i couldn't pull this to release it so i took a pipe and i hit it here and when it released that pipe slapped me in the side of the brain gave me a little bit of a headache but i'll survive i'm a survivor i will survive what the hell girls you don't want to go out they don't want to go near you they don't want to go near me that son of a put a hot poker to my ass i don't know if you guys can see the brands there but you see that one good the black ones are a little tougher sometimes but there it is all 10 all done and it's melting it warmed right up big time and i woke up this morning it was what -15 or something like that and i'm sure it's around zero now anyway that concludes our story for today branding on new year's babe lovely got her done now i'm going to let the wife doctor on my brain the camera doesn't work too bad as a as a mirror yeah she's gonna hurt right there it's starting to swell but anyway guys so like i was saying with the hot iron that is a identification that's been around for hundreds of years and if the cows get out they will know exactly whose cows they are if they ever were to get out and mixed with someone else's or if somebody steals them and takes them to the to a stockyard the stockyards will know because uh of our brand nobody else has a flying seven brand on the right hip so shut my tank off now as far as the ear tag itself goes that just tells us what cow is what and uh for when they're calving and for quick id on who is who how's that sound everybody basically runs an ear tag in their cows along with uh most guys have brands also but happy new year hopefully 21 is going to be a lot better bring you back so yeah hopefully 21 will be a lot better and uh the flying seven that's our business name so like flying seven transport that's basically the way i came up with that was from our cattle brand and
