I watched all the Oscar animated shorts. It's one of the categories where you want all of them to win. If you get a chance, go find them, they're all worth your time.
I thought it might be a dance recital the girl was preparing for, then a funeral, when the dad tears up at seeing the video channel. Iโm super glad it had a nice ending. Really sweet. The animation style was so reminiscent of something else Iโve seen, but I canโt place it.
Me: All right, let's see what the big fuss is over this thing.
Oh.
Oh.
This was such a cute short. I needed this type of stuff growing up. I am a mixed girl and straightened my hair for 90% of my life. If I couldn't straighten it then I wore a hat or bandana. I recently chopped it all off because I never learned how to properly care for it. Now I see so many people embracing their natural hair and I feel jealous that I never learned to. Now I'm consider growing out and trying my hand at showing true hair love.
Edit: Nice to know that I am not alone! This is why representation matters! Subscribed to /r/curlyhair and /r/naturalhair! Thanks everyone!

Saria - couldn't find it although I saw it a few days ago on youtube or vimeo
This ran in front of Angry Birds 2. It nearly made up for that war crime of a movie.
This ran in front of Jumanji 2 and I was super high to enhance my Jumanji 2 experience. I didnโt need this kind of emotional assault at that time.
AKA How to make a grown man cry in under seven minutes
I really like this. I teach 40 black 5th graders every day and itโs cool to imagine some of them in situations like this with their moms and dads (not the sick mom part)
