you think mountain so far that's alright the day before the Pikes Peak race all the competitors display their machinery in downtown Colorado Springs way back I think someday he's gonna weld like that guy in is by caused quite a stir a married no you got boyfriend's yeah go for Pines yeah yeah that's in a bit okay yeah it's not on spot on scene of eight I got home late this morning well it's almost morning was it I mean hi the Pikes Peak Hill Climb is so popular the crowds start pouring onto the mountain six hours before the racing starts trainings in forwards all right altitude not affecting me brains are our track knowledge alright bike ease yeah we always know it's gonna be an unknown way I'm saying the easy option it's turned out they want an easy option it's causing a rat law degrees god I've got a race we've got a wreck whatever come hell or high water we're gonna race we're gonna race how about a word with him and I've just said you know we've all seen how dangerous it could be up there on that murder in bends I know he wants to put on a good show get a good time but you know we all want to go home and end it there together looking forward to it yeah all right we're on it fact it's only three o'clock there now we're not really gonna do anything till seven and a half seven self and mega for twins before when you see guys racing in the so called exhibition class for bikes were the biggest engines his chief rival is Yasuo RI the experienced Japanese competitor has been fast through our practice [Music] guy gets one shot back behind the gate guys there we go here we go there are no second chances nothing stupid [Music] the only way of following the action is on the time you screen guys off to a good start faster through the first checkpoint than in any of his practices 2:09 that's decent amongst the melee of the start line chief rival RI sets off on the 183 so we need to wear it to number 183 now [Music] the timing reveals our eyes faster is to an hour seconds quicker [Music] guys into the middle sector and still riding round the bikes problems but our matches it 183 arrived still two seconds off on us I think guys best bit is going to be like the top bit me that's more UT teams like Windy corner he's alright about it then he would pull some time back on it but then the timing screams fail oh yeah got any idea what's going on everyone is in the dark and now guys in the most difficult part of the course above the tree line in the Finisterre with the biggest drops it's down to him to ride as fast as he dare and hope the bike holds out [Music] the way to deal with a race like that is to deal with it in the way are dealt with them right till this point break at this point if this apex give it a gear at that point like all the fall of that point yeah there's no panicking going on inside the helmet because I don't want to sound confident where I'm going that is only the case because I put the I think you want to get out what you put in and by me putting it aloud my Rachel and to be care what you want that race one was the the cameras moment of the whole trip [Music] [Applause] [Music] despite the calmness guys upset the bike wasn't working properly I got the top and I was a bit paid off because I know I could have gone so much faster all eyes turn to RI finishing on the 183 the clock stops as guy done enough to win [Music] [Applause] yes won by a second lamar ID on a homemade bike that is basically broken guy has overcome the two-second gap at halfway to become the first British winner at Pikes Peak by a solitary second then he has no idea what's in our our there Molly every time I didn't tanks I one box I just watched and followed but you made me go find the time [Music] [Music] swivels a an exhibition the top us quick first exhibition Cruiser exhibition first exhibition [Music] at 5:00 but like a beggar spanners but was first in class so laughing laughing now we're talking what an adventure that's the best thing in water back and everything but without fading its best thinking what if I can ever talk means we won't cheat it's far my yeah well done my hundred percent I'll be with a beer look at over the world maybe maybe Maggie thanks very much yeah that's certainly one glad to see me like that cheers mate thanks very much [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] most of it shot in a situation like that and I can carry trophy okay coming the trophy he's put massive effort until he deserved it I was genuinely over them genuinely over the moon Milani Oscars won it [Music] [Music]
