Gun Cleaning Tip

hey guys Mickey with Carri trainer Drew behind the cameras and editing desk we got a quick tip for you today on getting carbon off of your Firearms actually learned this years ago from my buddy Les Keys Marton known as Les pepperoni on the internet old shooting buddy of mine training partner and multi-time champion in the shooting sports check this out I think he probably picked this tip up because he was playing in his wife's makeup kit this is what we're going to use these are makeup removal sponges you pick these up anywhere they sell makeup grocery store Walmart I just was at the Walmart in town and picked these up they come in different shapes different sizes even different colors I don't know why they sell them in different colors I just think maybe that's a marketing thing often times this is the standard shape right here it's like a wedge and I guess you would use this to clean makeup up off of your face but believe it or not this stuff works excellent to get carbon off of your guns got some gloves here because I don't want it all over me and I'm going to just show you how simple this stuff works check this out I've got my uh AR-15 here radiant weapon do a check of the gun which I did before we began but I'm going to pull the bolt out this thing's dirty this thing just came off of a couple of training trips and this bolt is nasty and I'm going to show you how well these tools uh get the carbon off I'm going to pull my everyday carry Glock apart here too because it's also been shot a bunch okay so you can see this bolt is nasty now two things one my guns are coated in our gunfighter oil and gunfighter grease depending on the application which AIDS in stuff coming off so you see I've got the lube and grease on here but what I want you to see is these things I'm going to grab a light colored one and you can get quite a bit of use out of one of these but basically anywhere that you rub this thing and again these are made for cleaning uh makeup off boy it's just like a magnet for carbon now when would you use this well a lot of places if you follow our Channel you get that I am not a fan of using heavy solvents chemicals things like that to clean my firearms why wouldn't I be well I don't want all those chemicals on me in my skin in my house you might say dude you're a total puss like it's not a big deal I work with that every day that's the problem that is the problem you work work with the stuff every day over time that stuff soaks into your body your organs your kidneys your skin Etc have to deal with that stuff I don't want the stuff around my kids I don't want that stuff uh in my body and I spent years in the trades now I'm not suggesting you just buy these and wipe your gun and then you're good to go uh you might still need to use a brush and things like that but as an item on the Range and if you look at this Bolt where I just wiped it all of that stuff is pretty much here it's a really nice way to get down in nooks and crannies and I'll grab a clean one here just so we can see it I've got my uh Glock 48 Barrel here and just like wiping the uh feed ramp you can see pretty amazing how well this just pulls the carbon and builtup Gunk off and if you look at where I'm pulling the stuff off it's really nice and clean uh where would I use this well I'd use it doing what I'm doing now if I was out on the Range and I didn't want to get my hands all gooped up with stuff this is a nice way to do it because if I don't have gloves or if I do have gloves and I just don't want to make a mess the stuff for the most part is here now I did put down some fresh paper because I wanted us to be able to see uh what was getting on the table but it really is amazing how well how well these things pull the stuff off so I don't know what Les was doing years ago when he started playing with one of these but it's like a magic eraser for your firearm my carry Blaster you can see the freaking holster pubes coming off of there nasty but look at that so that's my tip for you for the day doesn't have to be a big long drawn out video you get these makeup sponges you can buy them on Amazon in fact I normally buy them on Amazon in big bulk hundred packs and they last a long time you toss a couple of them into a range bag toss a couple of them into your cleaning kit have them in your your workspace your garage
