Guide To Drinking In Key West with The Legend

hey good morning everyone as the waves crash in we're coming at you today from key west one of our favorite drinking towns on the planet and in this video we're gonna do what we do best drinking around town hitting up all the bars seeing showing off all the drinks i go by the legend that's molly let's go check out key west let's kick off the tour here at the speakeasy inn which is home to the rum bar which is a huge establishment here in key west they serve 350 different types of rum and i'm a wrong guy so i should like this and here is uh here here are some of those rums now molly you went with the painkiller your most famous drink yes i went for something a little bit more unique after uh signature drink menu is a banana split it is fantastic i highly recommend this um you know you've got bacardi banana a banana growing cream cruising strawberry liquor 43 and pineapple but uh everything sounds good on their menu yes everything i'm a big rum fan and then if you really like rum you could get a this boat has five shots in it so if you're a big like rum aficionado you can do a flight of rum up next is sims which has a burritos and beer and stuff like that and their chefs were featured on diners drives and dives yeah so they have kind of a simple beer selection here but they do have craft stuff i've never had a belle's light-hearted ale before i love the two-hearted ale this uh got that it's pretty good molly you got a very large burrito here yes which is good because we are pretty hungry and then i like the uh like the murals and stuff in here are pretty fantastic you've got a like a mexican kind of sauce [Music] this thing and then even like the smaller details like over there all the happy snacks like some cool art stuff in here so we were walking down and we saw this sign for happy hour here at viva's argentinian steakhouse and any happy hour the features empanadas gotta stop and here we go we got steak empanadas served with some chimichurri sauce drinking some isla morata craft beer um this place is actually kind of neat they have their house made ginger beer drink so a whole bunch of mules and uh happy hour on the beer was pretty cheap beer is four bucks the snacks not as much but their beer selection is crap they're like some pretty good craft beer for four bucks during happy hour one block off duval is our next hit and that is the green parrot very highly reviewed on tripadvisor and things like that also known for live music so here is the inside of the green parrot which opened in 1890 and it's kind of a no-frills bar we're drinking a a shipyard us one or gps one ipa now but uh the bar is pretty cool it's really cool yeah and i love obviously we're visiting during the the ongoing global health situation and you promote social distancing they have these giant like plywood cutouts at the bar and it's really neat so i love this over here they've got a bicycle hanging from the ceiling with e.t in the basket so like a lot of bars the green parrot has a gift shop but they've got really cool stuff they've got art prints or like a 3d sculpture kind of thing some really neat and very different stuff in here so when in qs you really got to go visit the original margaritaville even though we have one right down the street from us at universal orlando but unlike ours they've got some happy hour going on uh so they do a happy hour on well drinks and house margaritas and uh drink specials on some some very tempting beverages so now inside of margaritaville um i went with just the uh i went for happy hour the uh five dollar margarita which tastes like a margarita i did not molly went for fancy drinks and you can tell from that logo if you watched my videos before i'm probably a big fan of this old smokey mountain moonshine from gatlinburg tennessee they've got a whole section of the menu for moonshine drinks and it's kind of fun like we're one of my favorite drinking towns on the planet drinking something from one of my other favorite drinky towns on the planet up in gatlinburg but that that uh we got the blackberry moonshine margarita and it is uh that's fantastic it's really good they're margaritaville definitely not as cool as some of the other ones that you'll see around but it's also the original and i mean there's still some neat stuff in here like buildings and the bar is done up as a building i'm guessing probably album cover but yeah it's a margarita and it's also a big store here because uh you know jimmy buffett loves his merch he does they do have a very unique hard rock cafe here built in this old house i wasn't going to stop in but it's currently 6 13 and they've got happy hour until seven and like this nice outdoor bar where you can people watch so for the second stop in a row somewhere we could also find at universal orlando we stopped at the hard rock and they had a six dollar specialty cocktails during their happy hour so we're drinking a blueberry cosmo cocktail which is steicha edelflour uh the the edelflower liqueur that's ginger maine uh with lemonade and uh like a blueberry syrup in it and also i think what really makes this is the table we got over here just superb people watching right here on duval street so the inside bar here really nice full heart guard cafe is uh pretty different a quick note on this hard rock they have some of these historical merkers around town and the building was originally the robert curry mansion built in 1890 looks like we're gonna go three for three on uh bar establishments that are also universal orlando is we're going to make our way yeah yep we drove to 30 minutes down the road but they got a happy hour here monday to friday from uh four to seven 450 daiquiris that's a deal that is a good deal they're nine dollars at universal this is way cheaper here so here's our beverage here at fat tuesday if you haven't been to fat tuesday before it is a frozen daiquiri bar so they've got all these machines with a whole bunch of pre-made daiquiris and a lot of them are very very strong we opted for the 190 octane which is a orange type one made with green alcohol and then the banana banshee so we got a mix but a really good deal especially during happy hour this drink was 450 plus kip that you can't find at university no that's a really good deal now just a couple steps off to wall street is general horseplay home to cocktails and tomfoolery and i like both those things so we're gonna go on in so if you couldn't tell i like this place there's a jackalope on the wall a wrapping rodney dangerfield cd [Applause] now it's a craft cocktail bar and it's very fancy so molly's drink here this unicorn unicorn heart it's got glitter on the strawberry it's yeah it's uh very fancy drinks here definitely i dig in the vibe didn't get drinks it definitely reminds us of the alchemy bomb yeah very similar like alchemy or any craft cocktail bar but uh very cool scenery in here and the drinks are top-notch so check out the happy hour here at general horse player any drink any cocktail and they uh you roll the dice roll a one one dollar drink roll a two two dollar drink roll a three half price drink roll of four full price that is such a cool and crazy happy hour on this corner here you got a very interesting three level bar on the bottom floor is the bull on the middle floor that's the whistle now on the third floor we might see some trees and stuff like that we are not going we are not going there that is the garden of eden where clothing is optional we won't take you there we might take you to the other two so on the second level is the whistle which has a whole bunch of board games so you got guardians of the galaxy pinball you got a couple of pool tables you got this old time yard gate game here of course themed one of the best wooden roller coasters in the world el toro see what else we got we got foosball and then over here you have a golden tea and darts you can play but what we're gonna do tonight is hang out on the patio on the balcony and just people watch like it's a beautiful evening outside so we're going to drink our beer we're drinking a uh a left beer from belgium which is only like 5.50 so prices are not bad here but people watching and the people watching the temperature's perfect so this definitely works right now we're coming at you from the pool on the lower level where there's a live musician playing not an interesting drink menu by any means we're drinking a uh black carry white ball but gonna enjoy the band and the street views [Music] now as a gentleman of irish american descent i had to stop here at irish kevin's bar so as a guitar guy please uh very strong i'm really enjoying this now myself as a new york yankees fan obviously the theme song to mariano rivera whenever he's coming from the bullpen and a very potent beverage molly on her phone next up is the green room which is uh one of the most eco-conscious bars here in key west so we got a couple of drinks here at the tree house for the green room there's pretty much the same thing one's on the second level one's in the first level but uh we got two root beer floats which sound amazing we're on the floor yeah oh with vodka that is wonderful and then molly's going to take a liquid marijuana shot which has no marijuana actually in it it just looks like it does and there and it's gone that's the green room treehouse well up next is the smallest bar in all of key west it's tiny it's a great gimmick it's quite the gimmick so molly is here to hear our 10 tempting coke here the smallest bar which is a solid gimmick where are you guys from orlando the next stop is one of the more famous bars in key west the hogs bristle been drinking too much forgot molly was over here in that thing but now hug for a salute all right good morning it's time for day two of our drinking adventure we're gonna kick off day two here at the rams head southernmost as they are known for bloody marys so underneath this really cool propeller fan i've gotten the start of my bloody mary which is just a glass filled with ice and vodka and then you come over here and you really just build your own bloody mary using all these different uh hot sauces [Music] and uh different types of bloody mary mix let's see what mine's gonna look like all right and here's my bloody mary creation uh they have a nice high quality bacon so i went ahead and put five strips of bacon this is also gonna be on breakfast so i got five strips of bacon in there with a little spicy a little sweet two different types of bloody mary mix some worcestershire sauce and uh they also have a really nice collection of craft beer in here as well all from the fordham and dominion brewery um next something i've never done here in key west and that's visit one of their distilleries there's two of them here and i'm the hemingway rum company right now the papa's pilar rum distillery let's go check this out so the distillery is pretty cool um first of all they only do compliment your housing at certain times so be sure to stop by between one and two or four thirty to five i was lucky enough to stop by during that their blonde room was really really good that was an excellent room and a cool place so definitely worth stopping in since they're about a block away from each other i'm gonna go to the other distillery and this one here's the next one this is the key west first legal room destroyer dot com so this one was really really cool i quite enjoyed it in here i actually went on a tour of the distillery to do free tours a couple times an hour so i got to see the whole rum brewing process so that was really neat and they have a lot of flavor rooms as well everything's pretty strong there's free samples so that's good my personal favorite was the green coconut but they've got a lot of different types and some cool merchandise as well i definitely i enjoyed this this stock want to add they do have rum based food so they have rum cakes apple key lime and vanilla and then they have key lime rum pie the next stop is the waterfront brewery gonna drink some craft beer and also check out this mural they've got that is that's really cool with a hammerhead a sea turtle and the manta ray so no surprise the waterfront brewery is indeed on the waterfront so you get that that nice sea air breeze and uh it's pretty good honestly it's one of the cheaper options for drinking in key west um all their pints are pretty much six bucks for all their craft beer they have a whole bunch i'm doing a beer flight and that's only eight bucks so uh pretty good deals here my favorite i believe is the lazy way ipa out of the uh the four i'm drinking here but everything's pretty good also if you're coming on nfl game day sunday it looks like every tv tells you which game they're going to have on so i'm guessing that means they have the sunday ticket package so if you're a sports fan i might be worth checking out on sunday so this bar really uh big thumbs up for me they've got like a big arcade section and i'm the fan of arcades anyway they got really good games like they've got the uh the beer pong game uh lane master's really fun they got papa shot in the football game and then like retro stuff over here too so you got a zoltar pac-man whack-a-mole all right space invaders let's go classic you gotta have uh some good air hockey uh beer ball which is a skee-ball type game and just really modern games over here too with jurassic park and halo so uh big thumbs up to this place it's cool very large too like it's a big big establishment and you can walk into the uh the brewery a little bit as well where they make all the beer which is uh served at the dolphin stadium in miami so that's pretty cool it smells like a brewery in here if you ever been to a brewery you know exactly what i'm talking about oh and there you can see all the cans waiting to be uh filled with beer time for a little bit of food we stopped here at rita's cuban burger cafe as i'm really interested to see what a cuban burger tastes like and then sell beer all right so we went for their their their classic burger what they're famous for here and it's good it kind of tastes like a sloppy joe yeah i know the highlight for me is it comes with these little tiny like uh potato stick kind of things and their beer menu is nice as well a lot of beers from latin america so i'm drinking a a cosaquina from peru and uh everything's pretty inexpensive the burger i think was 11. and then the uh the beers are all 450. then you got a cool little patio area all righty so we're here at willy t's which is and they have this crazy mojito menu uh probably almost 30 different types of mojitos i'm drinking a passion fruit is really good molly you got a raspberry right and which is also home to the flying monkey saloon which is one of the uh as that car that goes past it's another one of these uh frozen drink bars so you can get a pretty strong frozen beverage and that's what we're gonna do all right so we're now uh having our drink here we have the ruby room which is 151 bourbon and fresh raspberries it is pretty fantastic it's wonderful and a lot of these things they're very strong beverages a lot of them have green alcohol a lot of them have 151 so like you're gonna get some bang for your buck over here this drink was about eight dollars so right across the street from uh harry truman's little white house you've got the first flight which is the southernmost micro brewery in island restaurant and uh looks pretty cool also the building here was the birthplace of pan am like the uh the airline so that that's where their office was we're going in for happy hours happy hour looks fantastic all right we're now inside the southernmost microbrewery in the usa happy hour fantastic molly and the beers are amazing oh yeah i am drinking a pineapple pester fruit ipa yours is really good molly's drinking the endless summer a strawberry mango wheat beer and both the beers 350 during happy hour and then we've got an order of fried ravioli which comes in a little water now this is a good deal and then uh i love how the brewery really plays into the the how they used to be the pan am offices as you can see like the first flight around but this is probably my favorite over here on the ceiling the fans are done up like propellers it's really neat and then outside is cool too you got these big mangrove type trees that come up through the uh the patio so a big thumbs up for this but it's really neat we're now coming at you from the sunset pier right next to mallory's square um as the sun is going down and this is really cool there's a four piece band playing and the the audio stream throughout the pier and then i mean look at this first of all we're drinking a uh a rum punch coconut coconut rum punch yep in a souvenir bucket but uh it is big it's 32 ounces it's a big drink but then we're just going to you can the view yeah between the live music and the view this is uh you can see like the sailboats going over in the distance like this feels very uh like vacationing yes so if you notice here in the loop we're big fans of tiki bars and they have one now in key west right here right near sloppy joe's off duval street called tiki house and we got to go in there to get some fantastic rum drinks check it out well thank you very much you're welcome thank you all right now we're inside the bar i got the zombie as you might be able to tell a little on fire as it is traditionally done oh look at that molly you got a mermaid's milk which is kind of a unique drink like original menu kind of thing and uh i believe you got a pretty cool swizzle as well i will say for my zombie unfortunately like a lot of their cocktails here it looks like it comes out of a tap which is definitely not what i'm looking for in a tiki bar yeah yours yours was handmade mine came out of the tap now their mug game here is very strong this is their unique mug it is a very expensive 100 bucks but it is so cool it's like a cheeky space done as like the southernmost point here in key west it's one of the cooler kiki mugs we've seen in our travels 100 bucks it does come with a cocktail as well but uh that is a really cool very unique mug next up is one of the most famous and one of the most oldest bars in key west and that is captain tony saloon the uh the original and first sloppy joes for four years in the 30s yeah the one that hemingway yeah exactly so uh we're gonna go in here and have a couple drinks all right guys so uh kevin tony's really cool it's weird like there's graves from here like we're here before the bar and then we're supposed to we're drinking a uh a 650 a captain tony's amber ale a big one like it's a big beer oh there's a guy playing guitar but then there's weird stuff like um it feels very like ripley's believe it or not over here [Music] but then what's really cool is like a lot of famous people have been here so like there's a stool from hemingway there's this tool for johnny kennedy harry truman said in that stool and uh jimmy buffett sent that one over there it's like the place it's really cool [Music] this place very unique very neat very cool and not expensive so i gotta mention this here at captain coney which i really like there's a tree a massive tree growing through the middle of [Music] well molly it's now time to go to the most famous bar in all of key west of course sloppy joes i have a sloppy joe's t-shirt i've had it for years and i absolutely love it go in there i have a couple of drinks i think we're gonna get some food as well i think so yeah we are now inside of sloppy joe's molly i'm really excited for this these nachos look like a pizza yeah no it's great it has a sloppy joe sauce on the bottom yeah so it's a healthy nachos it is um i got these island ao which is their own specialty beer molly got the sloppy burrito this is a margarita and then since molly was not joining us earlier we went to the rum distillery they have that here and i really like that blonde rum so we got a shot of that as well now block off two ball or so is the tank they're the dog saloon which is very popular uh the second time we've been here it is cool abandoned beyond about about four or five minutes or so now molly's got our beverages we're doing a uh they have a room specialty beer which is only only about six bucks which is not bad for the island nail here and uh it's weird it's definitely built out of an old house but uh live music is supposed to be very good all right so we're now coming at you from rick's which is a series of like seven different bars one of which i believe is a strip club but it goes way down that way we're gonna go to the main bar there's looks like a pizza parlor with arcade games but we're gonna go in the uh the main bar probably get a bucket of glue [Applause] one thing i really like about bricks in the back of the car they got this wall of beer steins there's some [Music] which is really nice also open air like there's stairways to other bars [Music] uh heading back towards the hotel now way down in duval a bit gonna stop for a one last drink here at the old town tavern alrighty so we are drinking a terrapin uh crunchy's blue a really nice sour but i think the stars show here is the appetizer yeah we got two appetizers a pork belly dish which like you never see pork belly no that looks good oh it's really good and on happy hour like it's 5 50. the fried mozzarella look at that pretty stretchy so like the late night happy hour here pretty good how about a little bonus content stopping here at the island beer company which is a brewery and a distillery on the way down to kiwi and uh we did a beer flight in here interestingly that beer and cocktails on tap my favorite was definitely the no wake zone which is a coconut lime feline blonde ale and they got a distillery here too all right one more bonus for you this is also an island mirada and this is the florida keys brewing company doing a beer flight here as well um you get your pick they have about 20 different beers on draft we did beer flight of five about run about 12 bucks also about a sign for our beer wall and then i really like the uh like it's a very relaxed like beer garden type atmosphere here uh dog friendly and uh truffle and then i'll do it for our time here in key west uh one of my favorite drinking towns in the country absolutely love it down here so many bars so many different stuff so much live music too molly did you have a favorite bar out of the 32 or something we went to uh captain tony's was definitely interesting yeah the core and the um the seats yeah it was very cool very neat i also liked uh green parrot because i like how they had the parachute and then they had old closed establishments uh signs on their ceiling i thought that was cool good tribute and then i liked uh general horseplay the cocktail the cocktail bar was yeah that was that was really good um i would say my favorite drinks we had for me my favorite drink was definitely that root beer float that was really at the green room and i really like my banana split at the rum bar which feels like it was you know three weeks ago but uh again great time here in key
