Growing Up As Shirley Maclaine's Daughter | You've Got

[Music] the reason I wrote lucky me is because I was at a crossroads in my life and I really had a chance I thought to look at my life and try to overcome some of my baggage my mother is Shirley MacLaine and a superstar and I grew up in Japan actually with my father and his mistress my relationship growing up with my mother well I can't say that I grew up with her I didn't however the time that I did spend with her was extremely fun and extremely difficult one of the crazy stories that in the book one of the many is I was 14 years old they actually the age of my daughter and I was left literally at boarding school in Switzerland a very fancy boarding school nobody came to pick me up I really did not know what I was going to do and a friend of mine a classmate had me join her and her families while I tried desperately to get a hold of my parents either one of them and I finally did after about a month as a matter of fact found that my father was on a yacht in Greece and my mother was shooting a TV show in London Shirley's world and I there but there was nothing really seemingly wrong with them they just hey oh hey such hey writing lucky me made me an absolutely better parent I've learned how to love and stop blaming really become an adult it feels wonderful to be in so much control for people who tell me that I've written a tell-all Mommy Dearest book I would have to say read it first and then get back to me I'm at a very happy place actually I feel that I have become more empowered I am taking whatever my circumstance is and doing something about it and it's a wonderful sense of control and it makes me feel very happy and strong [Music]
