all right i have a plan [Applause] for the corn and i don't know if it's gonna work but i'm to give it a try it is so first thing i want to do is soak the corn in water for about eight hours this is her recommendations of mi gardener if you watch this channel has quite a bit of gardening tips so i'm gonna soak this corn for eight hours and then i'm gonna plant it two ways i'm gonna sew it directly in the ground traditional style maybe some ruth stout in there by covering it with with hay and then i'm also going to plant it in the big hay bale that i just got from mr wayne's so i learned that you want to plant corn in a group and the mi gardener suggests no smaller than a four foot by four foot row our four foot by four foot square and the hay bale is just about that size is a little bit bigger it's probably four and a half maybe five feet by five feet so that's my plan that's why i got the hay bale see if it works we'll come back in a few hours after these have soaked and put them in the ground and in the hay bale i first thought that maybe i could just push it off no definitely can't push it off it's quite heavy and i really wanted it where the truck is i couldn't get it off there i don't have anything to anchor it to to pull it off so i'm going to change it to be right here behind me come on focus all right back here so i think what i'm going to do is anchor it to that tree and drive forward and pull it off here's what we have here's where i decided to do i wrapped the wire rope around the base of the tree wire rope comes and it hooks onto one ratchet strap end and another ratchet strap end here this ratchet strap goes under the straw or the hay bale and comes up at the top up here and i have two smaller ratchet straps secured to this thicker one up here and it's coming down and attaching onto this to the ratchet here i lost this strap when i was stuck i got my truck stuck in the mud by the gray barn and i used this to try to get myself out and i got it wrapped around the tree and i can't get it off the tree so i owe a new one of these to my friend sean because he'd let me borrow both these ratchet straps so i'm going to give this a try see if this works we'll see well it came off just not where i wanted it to i wonder if you guys were able to see any of that action now now it's right in my driving path this is not where i wanted it oh well it's off the truck i need to find a more efficient way of moving this thing this is really too much work for what i want to use it for well it's just going to sit there that's not where i want it but whatever well don't touch it he's silly the red waddles have cleared out their paddock let's see i think it's been oh about a week um this is pretty much dead they've eaten all of the poison ivy leaves off the vines are coming up they're not eating the vines shouldn't surprise me so it's time for them to be fed but i'm going to expand their paddock forward and sideways quite a bit i'm just going to give them a huge area yeah it's hot don't touch it i ran a new paddock so their very first paddock was here second paddock was here and it goes back so what i did is i piggybacked off of their first paddock so they're gonna go to the west quite a bit and then start heading south quite a bit and circle back around to the beginning of their second actually the end of their second paddock i am going to remove a lot of this poly wire like for example this these two strands here are going to be removed because it extends their new paddock extends out into that area so not sure how this is going to work i'm going to feed them i hope i can distract them long enough for me to run their new uh polywire on the new perimeter and just in case they finish before i'm done i did run a temporary this yellow poly wire is is here run along the new paddock lines um just in case it's in it's on the fourth position which i'm not going to use i'm going to use the third position for the for their fencing so what i'm going to do is feed them roll up their existing paddock fencing line re-run it on the new paddock fencing which is a lot bigger has a lot of poison ivy and greens that they can eat and i'm just going to run a single line on their new paddock i don't think they need two lines anymore so that's that's the plan we'll see how it goes now that the single wire single poly wire has been put in place in the red wattle's extended pen i'm going to see if i can get them to see that they have new new boundaries this is the post this is the boundary where they used to be this is the paddock number two boundary so i'm going to remove some of these old posts out of here so they don't think that it's still here and then i'll try to persuade them with food pig pig pig pigs oh no issues look at that just nope they're gonna cross come on they decided they like that green better than whatever i have in their food bowl it's interesting that they go after the poison ivy and not after this asparagus that i gave to them we'll give these asparagus to the mango elites i'm going to do an experiment where i plant sweet corn in this pickled hay bale i didn't want the orientation of the bail to be like this i wanted to be on its top and bottom so i had a flat surface but it didn't work out that way and i can't move it so i'll just do it this way a sweet corn should be planted in a group in a square or group you want to do it between 8 and 12 inches apart so i'm going to make a grid of a 10 inch grid and poke a hole in this plastic plant the corn seeds that have been soaking in water and we'll see how it goes it's just an experiment i want to see if it works what do i have to lose so i have one two three four five and one two three four five all 25 corn seeds that i'll plant here and we'll see how it goes [Music] [Music] [Music] so as i plant the seeds i'm trying to make the whole vertical plumb so that way the the stock can grow out straight up instead of out to the side and then curve up i don't know if it's gonna work i don't know if it's gonna make a difference but i'll give it a try why not i'm also going in deeper than the one inch recommendation in hopes that it will still sprout and have some depth for its roots so it has more stability when it's on it or in the hay bale i also don't know if the conditions in this pickled hay are going to be good for the for the corn meaning is it going to be too acidic not acidic enough is it going to have the right nutrients i might come in here and water it with some fertilized water i might put some compost over the over these holes maybe i'll do that after i see some sprouts like i said i don't know if this is going to work but i thought i'd give it a try i know there's people that do plant vegetables and and plants in uh straw bales and hay bales and so i thought nah i'll give it a try um 25 oh no 25 pre-soaked corn kernels sweet corn in the pickled bay pickled hay bale uh it's not in the best location uh it doesn't get sun all day long but it gets sun most of the day so there's a few things against it probably won't work still want to try anyway i'll see you guys on the next one thanks for watching bye oh by the way make sure to watch the next one because i have a really cool surprise that just happened on the homestead i'll see you later [Music] you
