Grim Dawn - Rebind keys for maximum fun and efficiency - 2022 - v1.1.9.6

okay a few quick quality of life changes keybinds whatever that i do you may want to do something different this is not me saying do it this way this is me showing you what is possible you can use this information however you see fit and if that means you want to go into comments and explain how you do it differently that's fantastic right the first thing we're going to do when you set a character up the default is you have a weapon attack on left mouse you have nothing at all on right mouse if you hold shift down you stand still and shoot when you click that attack button if you don't hold shift down you will sort of stop and fire automatically with a gun what you might want to do is get a bunch of enemies to come towards you and then stay in the same place shooting so i'm now holding shift down and he's standing in one place shooting now that's all well and good if that's all you've got on the go and you've got your finger permanently poised over the shift key however if you've got a bunch of stuff let's change this to fire strike let's put blackwater cocktail on the right mouse button let's put stun jacks on one what else have i got let's put flashbang on two this is i've just put a few points in demolitionist i level this character up on law notes and just to demonstrate this so i've got a bunch of points left over don't worry about that this is demonstrating this whole keybind thing and i've got a toggle skill flame touched and vindictive flame right so what i've done here because i've i've tied up button2 button one is stun jacks button two is flash flash bang stun jacks flashbang blackwater cocktails on right mouse and i've got i'm holding left mouse down and i'm running now i'm holding shift down and i'm shooting so you might think well that looks okay but what i found was shift was a pain in the neck so what i did if you look at this you scroll down through here and you find the button that's got stationary shooting on it stationary attack hold key and click there's the default shift i've changed it or i've got a secondary button on there of this it looks like it could be a tilde or a dot or something it is the button to the left of the one key on my top row of number keys yeah so when i'm running round if i'm throwing things with one i can right so i've got one finger over the one key for chucking stun jacks and i've got one finger over this key next to it to the immediate left of it so i can stop and shoot awesome when right so forget shift i'm not using shift i'm using the button to the left of the one key there's the one key there's the button to the next left of it now you can you can set whatever button you want up for that stationary shooting where's it gone there you go stationary attack so you could change that or just leave it if you want to use shift for something else i've set that as a second so i'm using that so that's great so that's that so the other thing you can do is if you if you want to stick blackwater cocktail over there you can set that to weapon at sorry you can set that to fire strike or weapon attack and you can set that to move to so your left button is running around and as soon as you hold the right button down without using another there you go without using another key the right button is a default stationary attack with whatever weapon you've got swords hammers guns i find that that's better for me you might find with your skills set up that it's better to assign a button so i've got all that on the go i've got skills that i'm activating with one two and three so i can keep my finger over one two and three and i'm shooting from a stationary position with the right mouse button so you might look at that and think yeah because the thing is if you've got just move on that you can run through groups and you don't stop and try and fight them you see a few people with a lot of grim dawn content will have their stuff set up like that and you might look at that and you might think that you're wasting that button because you haven't got anything assigned to it but the way they play particularly if they're speed leveling and running around and avoiding fights and going from one big thing to another they'll have it set up like that now i tend to have it set up like that not because i'm this brilliant uber god gamer it just suits me to do it that way i'm not showing off in videos going oh look at me and my move too that's how i like to have it set up all right so enough of that what we'll get on to next another thing that you may or may not know but it's sat here look at that toggle alternate quick quick slot bars now i can't remember i can't remember what the default is for that i know i changed it oh god i've no idea anyway oh yeah quick yeah quick bar quick bar switch whatever that was set to i don't know whether it was it wasn't how was it w something i changed it to insert because i wanted it on a key that was miles away from everything else so i wasn't going to accidentally click it because that's what it does you see that down here there's a two showing now and now there's a one and i'm pressing insert and switching them over so what i do with this is i put my toggle skills for example flame touch and vindictive flame on there and then i hit insert the right away so when i'm in a mad panic fight i don't accidentally switch them off i don't switch my toggle skills off so they stay on you can see the toggle skills that are on they hide they show up above your health bar there so that's that one this is just me demonstrating i'm not using shift or anything i'm using the right mouse button to shoot and it's always stationary shooting so i know what's going on and then i'm just spamming these other attacks on one two and three that insect running away he knows the best thing to do when i'm around right so the other stuff you can do what i've done here if you notice that's button one that's button two that's button three and then i've got over here q w and e seven and eight whatever unless i'm doing a pet build i'm not going to be using buttons seven and eight now if i had heels i haven't got a heel let's get some heels on the go who's got a good heel skill early on i got enough points to get toward of renewal yeah probably right so that's a heel skill word of renewal so what i do is i'll stick word of renewal on cue so although looking at that it's like next to blackwater cocktail it's knocks on my keyboard one two and three at the top things q i can just drop the finger down and smack q and i know i'm nowhere near that other stuff so while i'm fighting i've got my fingers over one two and three and i just drop the finger down and click on q to do word renewal to heal so it's not like over on four and you're thinking where is it and then there's another attack skill and whatever q w and e so normally i'd have something like maybe doing an occultist i've got blood or drugs should have done blood doesn't matter normally you've got blood intrigue on there if it's an occultist or whatever some other thing so you you know you've got your attacks on the top row and you've got your heels or whatever on qw underneath that's what i do now i'm not saying that's the best way to do it that suits me and it generally suits me because seven and eight like i said unless i'm doing a pet build i don't like setting up loads and loads of skills i mean i'm looking at this at the moment and i'm thinking flipping out because you know i wouldn't normally have all these hundreds of skills set up right it's three but you know and that's that i've shown you about changing shift to some other thing you're stationary when's it gone stationary attack you got shifts default i set this button up this to the left of the number one key on the top row so i don't have to keep reaching all rounded and stupid thing my little finger trying to press shift to shoot i've gone on about setting up those things and using that to move around this is a stationary shoot thing so you don't even have to worry about pressing that button down if you've got loads of skills and you have and you've got fire strike on that and something else on that then just use that i would recommend use that button to the left of the one key on the top row makes life a bit easier i'm going to cut this now cut this
