you made it back everybody nice to see you all my name is win back your humble airline pilot radio host asmr gaming dude maybe not that last one yet on today's episode though we are going to be starting our build guide videos for grim dawn in order to get into this new series i'm just going to lay a few things out first though number one it's a youtube video sign the contract of a like or a comment to feed the endlessly hungry youtube algorithm or consider a subscription so that i can feed my need for validation from strangers on the internet second though and probably more importantly these build guide videos will be broken up into two parts maybe three depending on how late i feel like playing each class of these builds into the game but that remains to be seen your first video is going to be uh what i feel like is the quickest way to get to level 50 that means that you'll get the skills for the maximum fortitude and the gear that you'll have the easiest access to to boost your xp and farming skills then in the second video for the build we'll look at the late game gear and devotions and other late game stuff now i'm sure it goes without saying at this point but this is all from my experience with the game and if you have different methods of building characters feel free to stay set in your ways if you like the way i do things by all means adopt those ways like the sweet little orphaned puppy that you found hiding in your backyard if you do have your own methods though and you want to leave a comment down below on how you think they're so much better than mine feel free to do so i am an open empty book now we're going to be starting out with the ritualist for this series for the uninitiated the ritual list is a shaman necromancer build for my ritualist in particular i'm gonna lean more heavily into the necromancer tree because of the vitality damage and the pet vitality damage that comes with it these two glasses both have some big boy summons and some really strong passive abilities to get beefy i'm going to be building a pet army with a melee weapon and a shield to charge face first absorb a bunch of aggro for my guys and then guide them around the battlefield with my pet attack skill picking off all of the big angry targets first once the big guys are dead we can let the pets clean up everything else on their own while all of that is happening we'll be buffing the pets and doing some aoe damage to help them out in their their clearing for skills i was a little indecisive when i started out with this build the one constant that i know i want though is pets specifically i want skeletons the briar thorn and the blightfiend skeletons will be doing a lot of damage when we make them focus at target but are pretty squishy otherwise we're going to use the briar thorn and the blight fiend to stand up front and take the aggro with us while using their passive abilities to keep everybody healthy so let's start with the skeleton skills you only get three skeletons with each press of a button but the more points you have into this ability the better chance you have of getting stronger skeletons for the purpose of the first 30 levels or so however you're going to want to put more points into undead legion first legion is going to increase your summon limit on your skeletons which basically multiplies the damage that they deal by about 160 percent once you have it maxed out that's not taking into account the types of skeletons that you will summon that is based purely on the number of skeletons that you have i tried to get about 10 points into each of these before moving on to the next skill and you can also shortcut these pets if you're not looking for early on pet damage go for pure xp farming by putting all of your points into bone harvest we take this ability later on anyway for the soul harvest mastery but maxing it early means that you the player will be doing more damage than your patch which is a lot more reliable for some people but also kind of boring for me specifically now if you stuck with the skeletons points first good job i like you in the first 10 levels you should have i think with doing the math right it's 27 skill points to work with that's three per level not counting level one that means with 10 points you put into your necromancer mastery bar you can put 10 points into legion and then the remaining seven points into rey's skeletons once you're 10 you can pick up your shaman mastery and start making your way to the mcdrogan's pack is helpful too but it is also optional it's going to make all of your summons in an aura more tanky and deal more physical damage realistically though the number of points you put into pact doesn't have to be super her super high early on it will matter much more in the late game but before level 30 this ability isn't going to be megan necessary so if you want to cut it out of the build until that time go ahead briarthorne is another summon you want to build up pretty quick because this guy will share the frontline damage with you and breyer definitely gets thorny for the damage he's also got a health bar you can track in the top left corner unlike the skeletons skeletons only get a number tracker uh well to keep track of how many skeletons are out right above your status bar so if that number is anything less than your maximum amount of skeletons you're going to want to summon more but making briar about 10 points worth of tanky will keep you and your skeletons alive along enough to clear all the rooms that you need to after we get briarthorne properly beefed up we are going to want to call in the second bash brother the blight fiend the heaping blob of flesh is disgusting to look at but super fun at parties blightfiend has one thing that the briarthorn does not come standard with however this actually gets an aoe skill on top of his normal attacks so he is marginally more useful when comparing at a baseline once we have him we can activate the full tank and spank three-man front line and that should keep our skeletons very very safe because we're just dashing in most times well you won't be dashing in until level 50 but you're running in most times with the briar and the blight fiend right behind you and then your skeletons will be behind everybody else getting your summons each to level 10 with no skills apart from legion will be the priority before level 30 and we're actually going to max out legion uh our undead legion at 12. so with 10 points in each of the summons the 12 points in undead legion and the i want to say it's 25 points that we have to put in the skill bars to access those skills that will be 67 skill points right 30 42 25 yes 67 skill points entirely that you will need to get all four of those abilities at their almost peak performance so that's going to put us right about level 23 and honestly speaking if you're using the pet attack button correctly and respawning your skeletons when they die you shouldn't have any real problems clearing so at this point we're really going to want to start pushing the necromancer progression bar to the max level asap with maybe one or two detours speaking of detours detour number one is going to be a single point into bone harvest so you can get access to the soul harvest mastery having soul harvest means that my little guys are gonna get boosted with vitality damage every time i cast the ability detour number two is the call of the grave which will have all of their damage being increased along with their crit damage as well if you went along this detour and managed to put in 10 points on both call of the grave and soul harvest plus one into bone harvest you'll need 19 hole levels to complete that leg of the journey if you went straight for the maxed out bar then you only need 12. assuming the math is right at this moment you should be at level 42 excluding any gear levels you picked up on the way now these last seven levels are the only ones remaining that will provide three points per level so prepare to get throttled and no not in a sexy way since we have our necro bar maxed out that means we can use master of death the big passive at the end of the tree and we need four of our last seven points to get the ability maxed out at its 12 point total but when we get it there all of our pets are going to spike up in damage getting a 50 percent to all damage and then 60 to vitality damage for our pets as well it's also going to be converting 50 of the physical damage that they do into vitality as well as a 12 increase to offensive ability and giving them 25 vitality resistance as well long story short this ability is going to make our pets tankier deal much more damage and that is really what you want in any pet build so this video is only going to take us to level 50 which means that there are about 11 skill points left you can start funneling into your shaman tree or some passives if you so feel inclined now a gear is the last thing i want to mention before we peace out here gear is going to be mostly stuff under the level 45 requirement because gear under that level requirement is going to be pretty easy to find there shouldn't be a whole lot of challenge in getting good stuff for your early levels now that's obviously going to change a whole bunch in the next video because we're going to be talking about later game gear and building towards something that means error is more meaningful for the end game but um you know as it is right now you don't have to look very hard because a lot of this gear will jump right out at you first off your main hand weapon is going to be the deadbeater the name is hilarious i think we can just end the discussion right there because it's deadbeat but you're also beating the dead this one does the right kinds of damage and gives us plus two to skeletons your offhand in this build is going to be a shield but there are three that you can find before level 50 that do everything that we need your early options are going to be spirit ear bulwark and the dread guard and both of these are basically two sides of the same coin where one will deal more vitality damage and the other will help your pets do more damage themselves but both are really just kind of a stop gap to get us to the lich guard which is going to give us percent boost to physique health vitality resistance and add points into skeletons it also gives pet bonuses as well as sporting an ability that gives you a massive shield when you get really low on health so very very very strong item and is pretty important for those uh level 50 and onward stuff with weapons out of the way we can talk about jewelry there is a monster infrequent amulet that can be purchased from a secret vendor in act 3 located in the blood grove this is called the death watcher pendant and will buff both mug drogon's pact if you took it as well as call of the grave with unique modifiers marrow band is really common and is a blue item with points that will um or it gives you points into skeletons and briarthorne as well as a summon of its own that is very tanky that activates off of a percentage chance to hit i think i would even say if you find two marrow bands which isn't very hard to do go ahead and equip both until you find something that you like better after jewelry i'm going to lump these next pieces together because there is an early game set that i use that makes leveling a lot faster and then that is going to be your head chest pants and boots you'll want to look for the explorer set and this is something that you can craft as well if you have the blueprints but with these four items they are basically giving you a 20 xp game xp gain that you get every time that you defeat something if you are doing the math that means that for every five levels you climb with these on the items alone are going to give you another level all by themselves i will usually ride this set from level 15 to about 30 and from there i'll replace them with new pieces that make sense as i find it as a matter of fact for all early game builds i have this pretty standard practice with only a couple exceptions so once you find yourself a full explorer set do yourself a favor start putting them in the shared stash for all of your characters and then make sure that your early game characters are using those the best that they can shoulders gloves belt and metal didn't make a huge difference for me in this build early on but that's mostly because i didn't find much that really tickled my bowls so things like acolytes cord for our belt are pretty helpful and the deathrite handguards are going to be helpful as well but these pieces took me a little bit longer to find through this play through so ultimately they did get replaced as soon as possible the relic however is still pretty important so start looking for the materials for hysteria first this relic gives you a ghost crab buddy as well as health and attack speed for your pets and then you can transition that one into either mortality or savage with mortality buffing your pets by huge amounts or savage giving you a whole new summon called the stormhound that's going to do it for the early on ritualist build everybody and we'll continue tomorrow with the late game ritualist options that i have going right now that you're seeing on the screen apologies if some of the numbers don't match up with what i am saying in the video but as far as everything goes this is the best way for me to get up to where you're seeing on the video right now if you have anything else you want to let me know or ask feel free to do so in the comments and i will be back tomorrow i'll see you guys there
