words and he expects that to be enough I'm doing this for him but then he known he didn't attend Dick's graduation but ruined his night with Babs orders him to help him traumatize a little kid and in the end we'll further disregard of Dick's feeling useless the woman he imagined his future with for his mission and never even told him she was Batgirl so dick relinquishes Robin what Herald power and Dick's life was to his imagined future of being his own man and still being there for his dad but in this moment he realizes he can't Batman will never and Dix's life will never be his own as long as he's around so quitting was Dick's atonement with his father act three is then of course him coming back to his father back to Gotham back to Barbara but this time as his new self where Old Wounds can heal and backs can be scratched he's not my boss of course not you don't know what she's capable of you're your own man now aren't you scratch my back or more accurately scratching dick explores Dix's insecurity were his need for Independence blurs his ability to see if he's making decisions without a different to Bruce or is choosing just to oppose him this is my gig if I needed you I'd have called a blow which Selena takes advantage of so this is all a very fancy metaphor for very clearly the master of two World stage where he transcends his personal limitations by being able to achieve balance between the inner and the outer there they are keeping tabs on me like I was some kind of criminal now you see what I go through attention that's established right at the beginning of the episode where he's checking out some criminals at the warehouse but then it's miffed by Batman and Batgirl's arrival if you'll excuse me who both make him feel insecure like he's just Robin again which causes him to fly off and then argue with Barb during a fight you're the one who raised him things are different on the surface new costume new attitude but his fundamental connection with his family is still the same Bruce even deliberately lets someone go for dick as if he still needs his approval he's all yours but then Selena gives dick this dude why'd you let her go she didn't do anything except help her kind of help you can do without what she does is allow dick an easy answer for his insecurity because he gets to rub it in everyone's face when he's different rejecting Barbara's attempt to re-enter his life there's room for two on that thing some other time and to approach a relationship that his father left one boy so we can do it another so for dick for sure he knows Bruce is definitely still not his boss as the swans Selena begins to groom him we were brilliant yeah I guess we were need a ride so Batman like an Asian parent is like hey stay away from my son you older woman and Dick shows up and gets all touched up but he's more hesitant after seeing Barb little did he know she was sleeping with his old man what bonds Selena and dick on their experiences with Bruce's lack of trust and independence from him she makes it exciting sexy and confident when defying him wanna play but that is revealed during their investigation she was using him to get a thing that she was smuggling and offers to run off with him of course in which he says no you know I can't do that everything goes wrong and then there's a double twist dick was working with Bruce and Barbara this whole time to take down the smuggling ring and her you really can't keep a good dick down there's a fun Chase where somehow dick gliding is just as fast as a speedboat and she tries to kill him with a turbine Jesus what's fun about all of this is with a sense of adventure the Betrayal didn't break or destroy Dixon's heart the lesson wasn't that he never should have ever questioned Batman or felt lonely or shouldn't have tried to be compassionate and give Celine a second chance the Betrayal goes to show that the solution with dealing with a sense of embarrassment and shame of not feeling independent didn't come from him trying to convince himself and hurt those that love him those he can't help but to be tied to instead the resolution comes from asking help from his own operation to be a better colleague a better member of the family to be a better friend so when everyone else Smiles he can too I know that there's no shame minutes that girl arrives and he says you
