Grayson Murray’s Parents Confirm Former PGA Tour Winner Died by Suicide | E! News

Grayson Murray's manner of death has been revealed in a statement released by the PJ Tour on behalf of Eric and Terry Murray they express we have spent the last 24 hours trying to come to terms with the fact that our son is gone it's surreal that we not only have to admit it to ourselves but that we also have to acknowledge it to the world it's a nightmare we have so many questions that have no answers but one was Grayson loved the answer is yes by us his brother Cameron his sister Erica all of his extended family by his friends by his fellow players and it seems by many of you who are reading this he was loved and he will be missed they went on to thank the PGA Tour and the entire world of golf for the outpouring of support revealing that quote although he took his own life we know he rested peacefully now Grayson's parents then urge people to honor their son by being kind to one another ending their thoughts by reflecting if that becomes his legacy we could ask for nothing else the PGA Tour post notes that if you are experiencing a mental health crisis please call the National Suicide and crisis Lifeline in the United States at 988 or visit their website PGA Tour commissioner J Monahan announced Grayson's death in a statement on May 25th which read we were devastated to learn and our heartbroken to share that PGA Tour player Grayson Murray passed away this morning I am at a loss for words the PGA Tour is a family and when you lose a member of your family you are never the same we mourn Grayson and pray for comfort for his loved ones the news came just one day after the golf pro withdrew from the second round of the 2024 Charles Schwab challenge in Fort Worth citing an illness according to multiple reports Grayson was a strong advocate for mental health awareness and spoke very openly about his own battle exactly one year ago the PGA Tour winner spoke with the corn fairy tour a company owned and operated by the PGA Tour that focuses on highlighting players path to the PGA Tour yeah my parents uh I've been through uh you know helling back basically for the last six years with me uh fighting um some some mental stuff and um it's not easy on me and and the people around me that love me they don't like to see me down and um they've been my number one supporters and everyone has their battles and um sometimes they're um people are able to hide them and and and function and sometimes you're not and uh you know think our society now is getting better about accepting that you know it's okay to not be okay type deal and um I've embrac that type uh mentality and um not ashamed that I go through depression anxiety and um you know I I know I've helped people out in the past just through my social media DMS people message me and um you know and that's I think part of uh I can use my platform to do to continue to to help um with things like that Grayson was 30 years old [Music]
