digital platforms across the world we on world is one [Music] [Applause] [Music] good evening and welcome to gravitas and palki sharma padhya let's get started [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] india is short of vaccines at the peak of its vaccination drive india was giving 3.4 million shots a day now it's less than 2 million a day the government is ramping up production more players are entering the picture more vaccines are in the pipeline for approval by december we are told india will have 2 billion vaccines enough to inoculate the entire adult population critics say it's a plan that's just on paper it won't fly the government's response has left much to be desired but here's something we should know about india's vaccination drive in terms of sheer numbers india is in the world's top three the only two countries that have administered more doses than india are china and the us the european union with 27 countries has picked pace after a disastrous start canada which hoarded vaccines has been lagging far behind in absolute numbers japan is even worse and these are countries with more money and a much smaller population than india so it's important to make comparisons with the right parameters on gravitas tonight we'll bring you all the numbers also an alarming revelation on the treatments being prescribed in india and this is worrying more than a year into the pandemic india's guidelines have not been updated medicines that have been junked the world over are still being used in india we'll bring you a special report also on the show this friday no let up in the fighting between israel and hamas the death toll has risen protests staged across the world rockets fired into israel from lebanon now the pakistani army chief's statements on kashmir trigger speculation is he hoping to strike peace and leave a legacy behind like his predecessors tried to do but failed kp sharma oli takes oath as nepal's prime minister again after the opposition parties failed to secure majority seats in parliament and two countries are fighting over an ancient dance we'll bring you their story to begin as always with gravitas global headlines an imported dose of russia's sputnik v vaccine will cost around 995 rupees or 13 in india sputnik v which claims an efficiency of 91.6 percent will be manufactured by dr reddy's laboratories in india meanwhile amid a shortage of vaccines across the country the indian government says that more than 2 billion doses will be made available between august and december the origin of coronavirus is still unclear and the theory that it was caused by a laboratory leak needs to be taken seriously said a group of leading scientists adding that there is a need for a rigorous data-led investigation into the theory this after a wh oled investigation in wuhan said that the virus originating from a lab leak was extremely unlikely japan to expand state of emergency to three more prefectures hit hard by covert 19 including the northern island of hakkairu where the olympic marathon will be held this says a petition with 350 000 signatures has been submitted to organizers calling for the cancellation of the facebook the tech giant informed whatsapp users earlier this year that they had to consent to a new data use policy allowing it to share private information with its parent company facebook island's finds that brazil's former leftist president luia nacio lola da silva would handily defeat far-right president jail bolsonaro by 55 to 32 in a run-off vote if the 2022 elections were held today this is bolsonaro faces mounting criticism over his handling of the coronavirus crisis liverpool have reignited their hopes of a top four finish in the premier league with a crucial 4-2 victory over manchester united at old trafford jurgen klopp side rallied from a goal down against their fierce rivals via diogo jota and twin strikes from roberto from mino either side of half-time marcus rashford pulled a goal back but mohamed salah's late effort ensured liverpool closed to within four points of the fourth place chelsea with a game still in hand the king of clay rafael nadal is through to his 12th semi-final at the rome masters after beating germany's alexander zverev world number six vireth had come into the match having won each of his last three meetings against nadal including in madrid last week but they can see nadal got his revenge this time as he raced away to a four love lead in the first set and then came through a high quality second to win 6-3 6-4 india's overall tally has now crossed 24 million there are signs of a peak in the second wave but no breaking the chain of infection yet once again india has reported more than 300 000 new infections in a day and that's a worrying number three hundred thousand plus on the positive side some major hot spots are reporting a decline new infections have fallen in states like maharashtra delhi uttar pradesh but cases are rising quickly in tamilnadu on the predation west bengal which is why india's total case load continues to be high active cases are still at 3.7 million 3.7 million people are positive right now in india they reported a minor decline of around 5 600 recoveries have crossed the 20 million mark that many people have recovered from the virus since the pandemic began fatalities are still high in the last 24 hours 4 000 people have died in india the exit route is vaccines and that is clear and the government is now moving aggressively on this front it has built a road map for vaccine procurement and this is what it looks like by the end of this year 2021 india hopes to have more than two billion doses where will they come from a total of eight manufacturers could supply them the serum institute could supply two vaccines now kovi shield which is already supplying and nova wax then we have covaxin sputnik bio e a shot from zydus kerala and a pfizer-like shot from genova this is a pune based company that is building an mrna vaccine like the pfizer vaccine we could also have a nasal vaccine from bharat biotech the same company that is making core vaccine now club together india could have more than 2 billion doses by the end of this year that is the projection the government expects the new supplies to start arriving by august it's a good plan and if things go as projected india could inoculate its entire adult population by december but the last few months have taught us to not count the chickens before they hatch so we'll wait and see earlier this week we also told you how blood plasma therapy was overhyped it's one of the most widely used treatments in india but it makes no or little difference when it comes to saving lives there's scientific evidence against plasma therapy but it is still part of india's treatment protocols which is why doctors still prescribe it in case you missed our report here's a quick recap one method of treatment has got way more attention than it deserves it is called the plasma therapy but does it work there is growing evidence now that it doesn't 18 clinicians public health professionals and scientists have written a letter these experts say that india should stop using plasma therapy india has conducted its own studies and this is what they found whether it was patient mortality or disease progression blood plasma made no difference it makes no difference so who makes these rules these protocols for treatment they're made by the icmr the indian council of medical research is one of the oldest and largest medical research bodies in the world it is supposed to follow science and recommend the best treatment plans for doctors to follow but if one takes a closer look at the icmr's protocol science takes a back seat unfortunately the pandemic is more than a year old the virus has mutated thousands of times hundreds of studies have been conducted new treatments have been employed but guess what the icmr guidelines have not changed they have not been updated since the pandemic began can you believe it medicines that have been junked written off by global research are still part of india's clinical guidance tonight we'll give you some examples we'll begin with hcq do you remember hcq hydroxychloroquine it was donald trump's favorite drug when the pandemic began as president he threatened retaliation if india did not share hcq with america in hindsight it was a useless threat not only was india willing to share the efficacy of the drug was in question the hype around hcq died fairly quickly the u.s food and drug administration which is america's regulator usfda now advises against using hcq and they give two reasons for this one because it doesn't work and two it can lead to serious health problems like blood disorders kidney injuries liver problems even abnormal heart rhythms the american regulator had advised against using hcq way back in july 2020 european governments have also banned this drug hydroxychloroquine they issued their orders in may last year one year back the united kingdom studied the use of fcq in 11 000 patients in june 2020 they found that it does not work but in india hcq is still part of the treatment protocol icmr guidelines advise this tablet for mild patients the document does say that this therapy is based on quote unquote i'm quoting from what it says low certainty of evidence and yet it's still listed under a column called may do which means a doctor can still prescribe it for what and it's not just the icmr india's health ministry is also advising hcq in its latest guidelines for home isolation hcq has been recommended as a prophylactic for caregivers and all close contacts what is a prophylactic something that is given to prevent a disease so while world's leading regulators have stopped the use of hcq over health risks india is still advising it both for infected patients and for caregivers and this is just one example the icmr's treatment plan features more such unproven drugs for the treatment of the wuhan virus next on our list is ivamectin you must have heard of it it has been listed in the same column as hcq some call it the new hydroxychloroquine do you know what ivamectin is actually supposed to do it's a tablet used to treat certain round-worm infections basically infections caused by parasites the wohan virus is a respiratory disease how can a tablet to treat parasites help just like in the case of etc leading regulators feel ivermectin has the potential to do more harm than good the us fda has warned against the use of this drug in fact the american regulator received multiple reports of patients who self-medicated on ivermectin that was intended for horses they had to be hospitalized thankfully no such reports in india similar advice has come from european medicines agency as well that's the european regulator they say the available data does not support the use of ivamektin for the wuhan virus officials from the united kingdom japan and the world health organization have all issued similar advisories merck which is one of the companies that produces ivermectin had issued a statement in february 2021 the company studied all findings that were available and mark arrived at three conclusions number one there is no scientific basis behind the argument that ivar mectin works number two there is no meaningful evidence to suggest its use in covet patients this is the company making the drug and number three and this is important there is a quote-unquote concerning lack of safety data in the majority of studies but in india this drug is still part of the official prescription and this is not the first time that the icmr has been caught drifting away from science in september last year the world's leading medical journal the lancet had published an editorial it said and i'm quoting the icmr has been singled out by experts from straying from scientific evidence but it looks like the top body that is supposed to guide india's pandemic response through science has been living in a bubble in january this year the icmr put out an internal newsletter which said despite the doomsday predictions india has made monumental strides in handling the pandemic five months after those claims the wuhan virus has india and its triangle hold this is the body that's supposed to guide our response the second wave has spread from urban centers to rural ones and the master prescription to treat patients in india suggests outdated and written off cures india needs to urgently update these guidelines now let's take stock of the vaccination drive today's a good day to talk about it it's the 14th of may the same day when the first smallpox vaccine was administered this was way back in 1796. it would take 200 years to eradicate smallpox now with the wuhan virus we don't have that kind of time thankfully we have vaccines that are much more advanced but how are countries faring in giving these shocks look at this data carefully in india there's a lot of hue and cry about the shortage of vaccines but how does india compare with other countries in terms of sheer numbers india's inoculations are the third highest in the world after china and the u.s india has vaccinated the highest number of people but it makes a small percentage of the population because india has 1.3 billion people to cover the world over more than 1.38 billion shots have been given so far it includes both first and second doses the world population is more than seven billion so we have more than five and a half billion people to cover so buckle in for a long long ride the rate of vaccination is picking up though this past week 150 million doses were administered at this pace it will take 18 months to vaccinate the planet and this is pure statistics it doesn't factor vaccine inequity it doesn't factor mutations in the real world both these things inequity and mutations slow down vaccination look at africa they're giving 400 000 doses per day for lack they have more than 50 countries in africa at this rate they'll take 11 years to achieve herd immunity not even full coverage herd immunity 11 years in contrast look at where the united states stands 266 million doses in a population of 300 million close to 36 americans are fully vaccinated both those is done but now hesitancy is creeping in last month america was given giving 3.4 million shots a day now it's just two million they're offering free beer with vaccines just to get people to take the shot the u.s has started driving teenagers as well one of the very few countries to do so they have three vaccines pfizer modernity and johnson and johnson the first two fizer and moderna doing the heavy lifting there what about the european union their rollout was off to a horrible start there were shortages suspensions not to forget the blood clot hysteria now things have improved they have administered 186 million doses 12 of the population is fully vaccinated 30 are halfway there but the big headline is this europe is now giving 3.4 million doses per day that's more than the us and the uk and they're doing this with four approved jabs pfizer moderna astrazeneca and johnson and johnson let's talk about canada they have approved jabs for teenagers too it may seem like they're racing ahead but in reality canada is not doing so well only 2.7 canadians are fully vaccinated now this is a country that tried to hoard vaccines five shots for each citizens citizen according to some estimates and four approved jabs but look where they are now a country where none of these vaccines are approved russia their rollout has been a disaster russia had a head start they approved the first vaccine in the world sputnik v but since then everything has gone downhill they have given 19 million doses they have a population of 144 million only five percent people are fully vaccinated eight percent have got the first shot it is slow japan has a similar story there was a lot of hesitancy at first but closer to the olympic games numbers are picking up japan has delivered five and a half million doses which means 1.2 percent fully vaccinated citizens only 1.2 percent still a long way to go but japan's biggest problem is that they have only one vaccine and that's pfizer and one vaccine simply won't cut it compare this with israel they're much farther ahead 56 israelis are fully vaccinated but remember their population is barely 9 million and now they're giving just 5 000 doses a day just 5 000 and no masks outdoors so where does india figure in this list we showed you in the beginning india has given 180 million shots so far three percent of the population is fully vaccinated 10 percent have got the first shot we are administering two million doses per day the same as the us so in absolute numbers this looks fine but india has a population of 1.3 billion four times america's population so india will have to move much faster to achieve herd immunity and that's where the problem lies the numbers are very big what is the government doing to to get india ahead they say that india will have 2 billion doses by december this year 2 billion dollars indians adults but where are these vaccines coming from turns out they're still in the pipeline at least half a dozen vaccines are being trialled so two billion doses looks like a long shot as we discussed earlier on the plus side sputnik v is finally here the first stores was given in the city of hyderabad they're going at 13.6 dollars per shot a thousand odd rupees it's a bit steep but remember this is imported the sputnik shots made in india should be cheaper so we've told you about various countries and continents what do these numbers tell you countries rich and poor big and small are all struggling to vaccinate their people shortages are a global issue so is vaccine hesitancy the more people you have the bigger your challenge the other problem is this nearly 2 billion of the world population is children below 18. only a handful of countries have started vaccinating them i wish i could end this story on a positive note but there isn't a silver lining here no positive news on patent waivers yet no philanthropic move by big pharma just a slow painful crawl to herd immunity and while india struggles to shake off the virus the developed world is taking off the masks the countries who've been able to vaccinate a sizeable number of people those living in the united states for instance they can ditch the mosque at most public places now if they have taken both the shots of a vaccine that is the united kingdom on the other hand has new rules for hugging our next report tells you how life is turning back to normal in at least some parts of the world americans can take off their mask while walking on the streets inside restaurants offices and most public places they don't need a mask if they are fully vaccinated joe biden was quick to follow the new advice from experts soon after they made the announcement the u.s president appeared for a press conference at the white house with vice president kamala harris both leaders without a mask if you're fully vaccinated and can take your mask off you've earned the right to do something that americans are known for all around the world greeting others with a smile with a smile some reporters were spotted without a mask too but the rest of america is still cautious not everyone is taking off the mask yet america's center for disease control says people can stop wearing a mask in most public places but they still need to have one on if they are on a plane in airports trains transit hubs and places like hospitals and doctors offices america is not the only country that's ditching the mask several countries in the developed world are easing their rules in australia citizens can leave the mask behind for most public places where physical distancing is possible in neighboring new zealand people need to wear the mask at just two locations public transport and flights in israel you can step outside minus a mask the united kingdom has asked its citizens to keep the mask on at crowded locations but human contact is allowed in fact britain has new hugging rules you can hug a loved one but conditions apply the government calls it a caution it must be done outdoors without vaccinated then you need to keep your mask on while doing it british prime minister boris johnson who famously shook hands at the beginning of the pandemic got infected and landed in an icu now has the advice on hugging this doesn't mean we can suddenly throw caution to the winds in fact more than a year into this pandemic we all know that close contact such as hugging is a direct way of transmitting this disease so i urge you to think about the vulnerability of your loved ones whether they've had a vaccine one or two doses and whether there has been time for that vaccine to take effect whether it is the us or the uk rules to ditch the mask remain the same virus containment and vaccination with their massive vaccine stockpiles and aggressive inoculation efforts countries in the west have found the exit from this pandemic bureau report we on world is one exactly a week ago jerusalem's al-aqsa mosque was hijacked by violence israeli police broke up a massive gathering of palestinians clashes followed and there was no looking back al-aqsa is the third holiest site in islam after mecca and medina its wall is sacred to the jews the holiest site in judaism its compound is central to claims over jerusalem symbolic would be an understatement when describing al-aqsa but no one saw this coming how a clash at the mosque could snowball into the most intense fighting in recent years as i speak to you tonight israel and gaza are on the brink of war it's the fifth day of fighting 119 people have already been killed in gaza eight in israel the skies are on fire every night there is politics there are protests and promises to escalate the violence even further beyond has been reporting from ground zero and tonight we have satellite images to show you to understand the extent of the destruction this is what five days of airstrikes have done to israel and gaza what you see now is a burning storage tank in israel's ash colon it came under a rocket attack on the 12th of may and now what you see is gaza city these are satellite images of a destroyed multi-storied building it was brought to the ground by israeli airstrikes on the 12th of may and finally this is what southern israel and gaza look like right now the fumes of fire can be seen from space we have spoken to many experts and diplomats this week and everyone of course is steering clear from prophecying a full-blown war but what's happening on the ground is pointing at nothing short of it let's tell you what happened last night the intervening night of may 13th and 14th a large barrage of rockets was fired from gaza israel said it responded with airstrikes at least 160 fighter jets were roped in as were tanks ground forces artillery and armored troops gaza was bombarded in an overnight operation the fireballs turned the sky orange [Music] the israeli army released satellite videos it claims to have struck hamas's tunnel network system also a rocket launching site [Music] that's not all israel admitted to having entered gaza during the course of this operation but now israel maintains that there are no ground troops in gaza at the moment here's something that israel was not prepared for at least three rockets were fired into its territory from lebanon israel says these rockets fell into the mediterranean no damage was done and that the iron dome system was not activated but who fired these rockets it's unclear say lebanese officials well here's something that's very clear this conflict has already begun pulling in more active players as we speak israeli troops have been deployed along its border with gaza visuals of a build up are being beamed the world over is the international community doing anything to stop another war egypt says it is trying to mediate egyptian negotiators have tried to have held rather in-person talks with both sides the united nations secretary general has called for a secession of hostilities the security council is expected to meet on sunday the united states has expressed concern while also underlining israel's right to defend itself turkey's president recep tayyip erdogan says israel has crossed all lines and from kenya to bangladesh there are protests around the world mostly against israel in case you were looking to travel here's an update international airlines including klm lufthansa and british airways have cancelled several flights to west asia what does the situation on the ground look like in gaza mass funerals are being held israel says most of those killed in gaza were hamas terrorists but the locals have a different story to tell my brother was present may god have mercy on him his wife and four children there was no warning or anything five rockets on the floors it broke them up his wife was actually pregnant at least 27 children have died so far several others are critical hospitals have been overrun they're functioning with less than eight hours of electricity a day doctors say 50 of those being brought in with injuries are critical in israel there's a threat of civil war there are reports of fierce clashes between jewish and arab mobs shops hotels and cars have been damaged israel remember has a 21 arab population visuals coming in from israel show police in riot gear patrolling jewish arab towns israeli prime minister venema netanyahu is describing the situation as a campaign on two fronts one in gaza the other is israeli cities to contain the crisis at home netanyahu has declared an emergency as for gaza he says and i'm quoting israeli military operations will continue for as long as necessary we would extract a very heavy price from hamas and the other terrorist organizations we are doing so and we will continue to do so with great force the last word has not been said and this operation will continue as long as necessary in order to restore the quiet and security to the state of israel hamas on its path says bombing israeli cities is easier than drinking water imagine that i'm quoting from a video posted by a hamas spokesperson on thursday now i want to remind you that 127 lives have been lost in this fighting so far so who exactly is this operation helping and think about it before you pick sides because like every conflict this time too it's the people who seem to be the clear losers pakistani generals are a busy lot after all running an army multiple businesses and a country is difficult work especially when you're officially in charge of just one there are some common traits in all park generals the usual hawkishness on india a keen eye for politics and of course some good connections most pakistani generals spend their career deriding india they're always at the prime minister's ear feeding them all kinds of anti-india propaganda and this is one reason the relationship is so difficult the civilian leaders take one step forward the military pulls them two steps back but looking at history we noticed a trend among these generals when they see retirement on the horizon they suddenly become wise and rational no more war mongering or saber rattling and we have examples of this 1965 general ayub khan dispatched his minister for india's republic day 1986 general zia visited india he was invited by former prime minister rajiv gandhi and then we have parvez musharraf in public he was keen on closer ties with india and we've compiled some data for you on this india and pakistan have held 114 bilateral talks since independence 114 52 of them took place between 2003 and 2007. guess who was ruling pakistan then by raise musharraf what does the trend tell you that pakistani generals come to power promising fire and fury against india that's part of the job profile but closer to retirement they want to be remembered as statesmen the ones who try to forge peace and we are seeing this happen all over again the current army chief general bajwa has 18 months left in office he is already thinking about his legacy and he doesn't like what he sees because in pakistan the general's legacy is not just about the battlefield it is linked to the economy internal politics even geopolitics and it's a tough job which is why most countries have civilian leaders handling it but pakistan we know is different during general bajwa's tenure pakistan's economy has taken a beating they have requested multiple imf bailouts the foreign reserves are running out fast just 13 billion dollars left and to add insult to injury the military had to suffer budget cuts what about politics it's the same story a string of failures in balochistan the army's overwhelmed chinese contractors and pakistani citizens have come to blows and there's nothing that general bajwa can do also don't forget the fatf listing pakistan is getting cozy on that gray list it's been there for three years now no progress has been made same with geopolitics allies like saudi arabia are choosing india over pakistan in afghanistan the world community has just one message for them please stay away and let afghanistan prosper now if you think about it they're left with one friend china but china is more a lender than a friend and it won't be long before the chinese loan comes due general bajwa knows this and what does he do he tries to score a point on india how by talking peace let me play out the speech from earlier this year and if you close your eyes you would be forgiven for thinking that you were listening to a statesman we are ready to improve our environment by resolving all our outstanding issues with our neighbors through dialogue in a dignified and peaceful manner the potential however has forever remained hostage to the disputes and issues between two nuclear neighbors kashmir dispute is obviously at the heart of this problem however we feel the time is it is time to bury the past and move forward but for assumption of peaceful process or meaningful dialogue our neighbor will have to create conducive environment it is time to bury the past and move forward that's what general bajwa said in march this year there's no denying that pakistan's stone towards india has changed in the last few months there's a growing chorus for talks and reports in pakistani media say this chorus is coming from rawalpindi the festival of eid came as the perfect excuse for general bajwa here you see him offering prayers for peace and he had to say he had this to say on kashmir i'm quoting again it is time to end this human tragedy again strong words but can we trust them there are lessons in history we talked about three military generals in the beginning yes they reached out for peace but they were no friends of india's it was all about leaving a legacy of peace good optics nothing concrete though so we should see and take bajwa's olive branch with some caution he will retire in 18 months maybe write a book or give some speeches at universities but nobody wants to listen to a war monger a peace advocate on the other hand is good money and talking about legacy here is one for the ages a prime minister who was deposed on monday in a no confidence motion only to be repo reappointed three days later it's been a roller coaster week for nepal's kp sharma oli he is back as the prime minister of his country he has 30 days to prove majority after being on the back foot for most of last year this time it could be advantage only here's a report the confidence vote sought by prime minister k p sharma oli has been many thought that was the end of prime minister oli the eulogy of his long and eventful career but this is nepal the land of cutthroat factionalism you don't reach the summit of nepal politics without taking blows and keepy sharma only knows a thing or two about that on monday he was ousted as prime minister publicly rejected in a no-confidence vote round one went to the opposition the president set a three-day deadline for them that deadline lapsed the opposition did not turn up so round two went to kp sharma oli pradhan he is back as prime minister this time of a minority government only spotty is still the largest in parliament so he gets the first shot at forming a government the president has given him 30 days to prove his majority the question is is there any hope for him oli is banking on a faction within his party it is led by madhav kumar nepal a former prime minister himself madhav nepal is backed by 28 legislators they were planning to side with the opposition but now appear to be having a change of heart holy's party has revoked the suspension on math of nepal's camp this concession has helped oli avoid a split what's more he has been given complete control over the party so does this mean advantage only not quite but he is in much better shape than the opposition holy's rival prachand put his money on the nepali congress he promised to back their president shared bahadur duiba for prime minister things were going to plan before math of nepal backed off without his support the opposition was 26 short of majority so where do things go from here only's party has 121 seats in the house 15 shot of majority he is in the driver's seat but with allegiances shifting in days he won't be getting too comfortable in the pm's chair the other possibility is that the house gets dissolved fresh elections to sort out the mess but with experts making dire pandemic predictions a trip to the bowling boat is the last thing that nepalese want there is of course a third way a unity government proposed by former prime ministers but will pmolly a look at his record would tell you the answer is no bureau report we on world is one what do countries normally fight over land water air space sometimes fish in the middle of the pandemic perhaps vaccines but peru and bolivia are fighting over something totally different there's an ongoing diplomatic row between the two neighbors over ancient dance forms bolivia is now threatening to knock on unesco's door here's a report [Music] pretty catchy right this colorful dance is called la morenada and neighbors bolivia and peru are currently fighting over it bolivia wants to be known as its country of origin but peru recently declared la morenada ray monero and ray caporal as the cultural heritage of the city of puno this resolution was published in a state newspaper its words too bitter for bolivia to digest la paz is crying thief it wants to go to the unesco and request international protection of its culture in 2001 the united nations educational scientific and cultural organization unesco declared the ururo carnival and its dances including the morinada dance and the dance of caporales a masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity peru says it is not stealing a dance leave alone its origin or exclusivity this is peru's culture minister alejandro nera he says folk dances in the andean highlands have a long shared history adding that each country in the region has contributed to the art form over the years the morenada or dance of the black slaves for example has a mix of african and indigenous elements this is precisely part of what unites us from southern peru with bolivia which is what we want to protect this lore and artistic expression are part of a knowledge that are not proprietary of a single territory but rather they can be shared because the idea is that they be preserved and maintained over time this is not the first time the two countries are fighting over culture war of words have been fought over gi tags and on social media they include the battle over handloom basmati rice culinary and even fish but you know what culture knows no border and that's where its beauty lies bureau report we own world is one a pandemic a second wave a brewing war and a game of thrones i know it was too heavy a show for a friday but there isn't much we can do when times are so grim it is after all our job to tell you the truth about what's happening in the world but that said we can always wrap the week on a lighter note so let me tell you the story of a cat they say a cat has nine lives for three he plays for three he strays and for the last three he stays the cat in our story probably has just eight lives remaining for he has played with fire in one let's show you how it happened this burning building is in chicago what you see on your screen we do not know how this fire started what we do know is what followed when firefighters were trying to put out the blaze and some of them were documenting it a cat suddenly jumped out from the fifth floor it was a black cat it missed a wall fell on a patch of grass landed on its pores and walked off onlookers say the brave cat bounced once it was not injured and before anyone could walk up to the cat it ran away where to no one could tell [Music] incredible isn't it the cat was spotted again after some time and this time it was hiding under a fireman's car probably taking a little break before its next adventure a couple of minutes later it was on to its task the cat had come out from under the car it was trying to scale a wall to get back into the very same burning building the cat probably wanted to jump from the building once again there's no video of that though who knows cats are funny creatures this cat and its jump have gone viral last we checked this video was viewed almost 300 000 times and now whatever you do don't show this video to your cat at home else the next thing you know it'll be bungee jumping from unimaginable places take care we're leaving you with gravitas images thanks very much for watching have a good weekend [Music] so
