after a flower tourists to get Manhattan Bank you feel right about an hour we're trying to get back yeah rearranging my hotel room I came up to and I said I'm going yeah thank you I said I'm time because we've got to work in the morning and I'm a really good boy but you should know I'm staying here we have the creators the masterminds the brilliance behind the gorillas we have Jamie Damon here today so you guys know what's going on is you guys have a guerilla show you're doing a few shows here in the US right I'm not so the Polo in Harlem okay so how do you guys this is one of the more like brilliant off-the-wall amazing music concepts it's you know come up in a long time right where were you guys doing sitting around and all of a sudden like cartoon band I'm gonna make a cartoon band see I'm the sort of person who watches TV and just screams at it all night long and then I ended up watching TV with him and he's the kind of the same so we just watched an empty being with this like what's what it's rubbish this rubbish manufactured craps yeah I thought we could probably do it a little bit better but people take themselves way too seriously yeah music business so I suppose grillers for us is just a sort of well how do you guys feel about stuff you know like the extreme of what you're talking about like American Idol or you know is a sickness should be um you know they need to find a cure for it I really do I mean sadly I know the guy who invented all of that he used to he used to actually work for up for our manager he's got so much money and all it's actually given him is a slight weight problem a very very very orange skin and really bad leather trousers [Laughter] common effect [Music] [Music] to my nasty little brain a little bit that comes from daily from asking at the brain and it's inside of the brain child I think the whole thing about Britpop was that it taught me that it's very difficult in this country to be experimental [Music] people evolved all being into Ricky Dicky shooting from [ __ ] this new boy back he's one of the best bet she can run their tits and just wanna go back with the other [Music] [Applause] [Music] it was the most exciting thing we could do and actually was everything about is really enjoying and getting genuinely excited about the possibilities not necessarily achieving anything of our ambitions but just just going into it with that sort of sense of sort of Rwanda at the end of the night about what could be [Music] success this is a loads and loads of shot from them precious ready to D this is the gorilla in the band who plays the bongos it's noodle all this stuff can be used for internet sites and press photos this is a scenario from one of the comic by the TV for the TV series I'm thinking of doing with a Murdock temples with the black magic and makes pacts with the devil and they're filming a video in this graveyard next this vivisectionist the bawdry and he does a few spells in the back of the tour bus and all these zombie monkeys come out the ground and attack him and as I'm playing I'm dying to get animating really so I can make a move J after reading the me and Amos that watch some TV in the evening talking about it the next morning I welcome do that star stereotypes and then maybe have been living the lives of real pop stars but that it didn't end up coming out quite like that because they sort of took on characters of their own I mean people are always saying you know the thing that I purposely invented like a black character an Asian character and an English character we can appeal to everyone but it just came out like that I mean when I was in bed to noodle I was drawing sort of 17 year old girls with guitars and David said you've always draw and stuff like that one you do something different and so I just drew ten year old and yes it seemed to work Murdoch sort of the it's his band he sort of goes together it's his idea but he's sort of he sort of an ugly sort of snaggletooth Satanist who didn't ask to get the job of being the lead singer because he is a very handsome so.2d got the job which is always to piss him off the 2d sort of looks at murder and as if he's you know his Savior he's sort of big power he's big brother I mean yet he's totally abused even even actually come to him all the time and Judy seems to be the only one who doesn't realize this for some reason there's no one told him one of those people who you tell things and it just doesn't seem to register anyone here what's the Exorcist zombies doing in the day all day now what's there three zombie films and a rarity other day the animate would do the main body and work I'm talking the main sort of movement you go then there be a big team of people who somehow fit in my color pink pencil very exciting process to do you comes up with he pleaded to me everyone good [Music] you know [Music] [Music] [Music] it just needs some little thing in the second verse on the gaps [Music] oh here is a la hip-hop producer a Jamaican old-school double bass player and Swack from himself he's a sort of 60 year old Restless I was sort of I was immediately very injury well why he'd be interested in buying on my record it transpired that he's one of the original studio one musicians Bob Marley's Augustus Pablo Lee Perry the King Tubby and then from that point on these sort of heavy bass lines were sort of appearing on all the tracks and then I kind of got sort of 75% way through the albumen and then that I found I can't really go any further so I rang Dan up and he bought some amazing characters into the future like elephant himself Ian mijovich even a toad and quickly bit of Dan Nakamura fairy dust over and rule is is created [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] to go to weeks data may eight weeks to choose a song what do you think that's enough time what two weeks to animate media 2ds mouth seeking deliver that's it kind of including his body and I'm from nodding his head I do anything like that makes an agreement on what should be the second single a small release so what's the first proper single and Brussels once it's got the clear track about me it just feel it the way that he wants to do it's not it's not my once these things that it's not my song it's my song [Music] [Music] put a bit more hmm it's nice to know it's not so it's 73 years old try something different for him she gets cold you know [Music] you know venadu de todo chili pepper dima Cara Tom if he's gonna carry over onto the second verse and then whatever the second verse is gonna have to be on different tracks okay [Music] [Music] travelerbill worry about putting on funny accents doesn't matter don't get in that way yeah and we will ask the question seriously in 20 punny cool interview yeah the characters have characters and you have to solve portray that character a bit to day is next smart so you know and he knows what these characters know and I've got the murder the way feel cool we thought you'd forgotten about us hello yeah well we don't win a widow fight crime but you know what who the [ __ ] is comparing us to boyfriends you seen the boy what do we ate one Oh some dude Damon all boys coming in here mom what you took you [ __ ] blew that that was going fine man it's cuz you penny because you couldn't think of anything to say to thee yes he was doing great I was doing alright we be seasoned into it no you stepped in it's almost like you say I'm sorry okay alright we're not very real great music great images with these characters I totally agree with you my god damn 14 you know can you just understand this Ryan let's say this once okay this is an organic thing every week something comes up you know growing stones might decide tomorrow but they want to do an interview the next day you cook it back back to the level of work that's why I was saying to you how important is that we get you get a group of people or who have all very confident about their characters well baby's fine I think we should get Nelson because he was really good to you Wow but you know to say that I [ __ ] you know I'm sorry I know you didn't know it Jamie Jamie explaining myself and just expecting Americans to get it they didn't Americans like you to be nice they like you to explain things clearly they like the feel but they're you know they don't want to feel confident you know what I mean they have a real problem with English people to start off with and the people that do well in America are the ones that go and [ __ ] explain it all you know and play the game that they're you know the guy got it it's guy first thing he said to me after he said I can see how difficult this is you know but I really am into this you know so I just said yeah well you know what we're trying to do you know you know west was enough you know in the time before that pop chaos reign from the chaos came gorillas and nature of gorillas was irrepressible featuring the massive hit Clint Eastwood is coming Judgment Day will be March 26 he enlightened it's gonna be cool [Applause] Damon would say oh and this nice and warm air working with you to America but in fact is Russell's been living in England for probably about six or seven years so he's probably lost a lot of his and the four years before that when he was in America he was in the coma oh it's very good chance that his America is American accent is slipped and it also has to be consistent I mean it's obvious it's hard it's hard holding a voice yeah it's going slit I mean that [ __ ] [ __ ] John Inman pissed when you badly keep going okay okay there was a girl named Mariah who said come to a lovers desire she said it a few inches higher on behalf of no one but myself thank you very much to everyone you know leave me alone let me get on with being beautiful whenever you ready I'm the controller no Tom's the controller I'm sickening come on [Music] imagine Murdoch dressed up like a [ __ ] Nazi yeah look like a right oh man did you get that outfit you can't go stress enough with a goddamn Nazi you crackers this thought has never actually occurred to them we mean why didn't anyone tell me it was a [Music] diamond it's a police they wouldn't even stop them [ __ ] clue [Music] my team of the best [ __ ] great a space is great that's great the Watkins brothers nobody's getting it done three hundred thousand people on our website being entertained and we have six people putting it together thirty man drop those [Music] baby after Christmas five it's just overkill [Music] I thought was just showing people about what Gorillaz is about my job you should have said two weeks ago not one day I told you I'd be having a few crazy buddies you're playing the banjo in the scene this afternoon [Applause] ha jacket sure you please it to me yeah shared one side it isn't it I didn't share any pants because the point where he was a different place every hour they'd move I never saw them again I said the night show was the one thing that didn't come easy I mean everything else pretty figured out the live show basically what you have is a joint cinema screen on stage you have a live band standing behind the screen playing the music and onto the screen we and animation match animation and images live-action and all kinds of stuff really experiment anywhere the Chairman Mao if we can give her less food it's not partying yeah yes [Music] [Music] [Music] money we know knob [ __ ] you won't do it [Applause] classic [Music] [Music] [Music] I'm okay thank you no actually I'm calling from Miami because II might be cheaper it's ridiculous when you're done doing your telephone calls [Music] hello I hate them so much there's like 20 radio stations in a row like a free-for-alls me much with the bands they're so good it's like everyone's sort of melting like two hour blocks we're talking bands we'd never [ __ ] heard of we're talking about actual prop Justin Timberlake really goes back to a reason give as little as possible [Music] by the road warrior we might get [ __ ] the Justin Timberlake really right in the color epicenter of the cattle market amazing them the quest over miles and sort of respectable and civilized block with the king school like this the land this year is ready it's the song by the way that everybody calls into requests and no one has any idea what it's called the title of the song is Clint Eastwood what kind of a band would make it that difficult for people to know what their song is called I wonder if gorillas are here hey good morning boys what's up good morning so we got Damon is here we've got Dan here we've got J weasel here and I gotta tell you the guy from the company came in and said alright it's a parallel universe and I thought all right I'm right there I'm confused these guys are not really the band but they know the animated cartoon characters that are so if that's clear to you then jump on board where is a Murdock and Toodee and Russell and noodle today having enemies favorite female nurse I guess when you're animated you get all the chicks and just begs Jamie's drawers you know I hope that we don't win the [ __ ] best directors award because I don't want to get up and pick it out maybe get really drunk and end up getting in a fight with NC tell me we weren't nothing three awards and we won nothing turning up for the MTV Awards New Yorker things yeah wasn't it why they made that carpet went crazy and then we realized that it was beyond Destiny's Child we kept asking we go in the back doing this now you've got got the Tarpan so well no one knows where we are you made us do it and it just went quiet when we won't ask yeah who's your post September 11 done and we talked about doing something together in the studio today after I had this track which had a sort of a certain flavor to it and then Terry Hall came in and sort of finished off the choruses and it's got a very strong sort of Middle Eastern flavor to it so that hopefully the whole thing is quite us of a peaceful statement [Music] so that's what we've got both the table yeah don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't now you know when the Fat Boys was going into the place before they did all-you-can-eat on a curse groove to be played do you know use that beat down a funky how much safer for catch a bad one see newton-john be terrorists in the airship arrogant apparent to punish people by heritage NATO members hate embarrass their base but faith to terrorists and their poo face-to-face would raise awareness erase the Sabbath - army bombing if God is with you calmly for war here's a starter pistol cuz if you write you know you wipe their where's your righteous ways [Music] you could get that kind of Arabic [Music] because I want to do a lot more stuff like that in future grow this stuff because I think you know it's just [ __ ] essential that we start introducing more of that into our culture because instead it's got to be done enjoy do live stuff for others is it exciting as doing it's very different it's very different but I tell you what I'm looking forward to going to America and we'll release some sort of sense of ivanovych eaten because I've been going there for many many years and I've always felt like that as soon as I got there they were really showing me the door friend what time we got soaking up some sunshine so guys finally playing live in the States yeah yeah we got stopped original by spy on something unexpected matter is that right yeah [Music] [ __ ] we gonna do what the [ __ ] we've been doing all right because we have our boat where it will sound really cool it might sound really cool you know you never know it might never know you never know [Music] [Music] just get some music yeah you in the water [Music] [Music] [Music] the real band members so much more [ __ ] Mecca did the cartoon more interested in the music and the musicians anyway about that motion last one they saw feds Mike diamond and Jamie do always because I've heard a lot of people explaining the concept dies you know Damon from Lawrence his project it's an animated group and his name's always start in there yeah well that's what happens when megalomaniac and you try to do confront everything yeah yeah Damon's names very famous so you know we tried to play it down as much as possible good sir at the end of the day all he does is play the triangle obviously you guys are all jokes having fun with the girl is they were deadly serious your join our band yeah we want to destroy it n sync's that justin has no choice but to come and john gerdes okay tonight show what will each of you be doing collegues could you recommend any good delivery shows in terms no laundry no laundry lingerie lingerie oh you shop for lunch away I don't like lingerie I don't get the point really because I'm nice in your skin okay okay but back to the night show what do you each can be doing like we're saying well don't leave the door opening who's me I'm calling you in the photo it's embarrassing [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] in the middle of the show somebody actually said to me this is kind of like Pink Floyd for the next generation Pink Floyd is it bearable people over that I know if you're being picked with there's wires in any sort of assault on the senses that you know no disrespect to Pink Floyd but you know we've got [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] some big screen [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so what other word is music is it a continuing project was this the conclusion another album yeah really go to Africa and then Mongolia I think I'm about finishing the burro then we start working the day I woke up and realized that the being musician was about music and nothing else life has got a lot simpler and the whole life I recommend it to anyone who is involved in music so fast rap music and fierce sides of her they had no idea that the next album should be presented differently or Sanka yes that's cool yeah but not like you the next stage of this is really for us this right back attitude we had with this role because though you have to convince everyone again do you know I think that's what we fry the first we make really good stuff you have to go into the movements such as weak really to come up with really good ideas and then you come back all right now be away listen you know you got try these things might be too loud in my ear though with it yes yes you think your feedback as well now when I come out with a new eyeliner don't necessarily test it on revenue today it's already been tested I'm Sandra yeah yeah yeah well do you look if you're gonna try and do something right that is a bit cartoon magic you've gotta lead somewhere [Music] [Music] I know just happy to work so you know make some sort of calculated risks I always like the idea of just adding so into what we do you know yeah and then adding a bit to it so as a joint thought it's okay it has to be a co-production whoever it is yeah I know of course yeah exactly because I think you've pretty much taken out a lot it's almost quite loose on the last record as well I think you know I believe really started on it yeah you know yeah it feels much harder much tighter on this proved to be you know yeah yeah you probably wanna smoke I already did the first time but I said listen to a lot of it was great and then the first move was already happy he's our price even though you know people like the streets and we never ever have happened it again you did those I mean it starts it starts with her injury and then it's Shawn rider than anything after that it's a concert of those two things if you can pull this off and you've really earned your producer strikes if you can do this a new video [Music] you know am i doing my duties all do anyone take or am i doing with vocals again cuz I don't know what the various are just make them out we're gonna take what you're gonna do we're actually now ready for doing take so well knowing their be someone's singing yes yes the lyrics [Music] [Music] [Music] we're saying that Castro phony could actually be a whole new word that you've created maybe we should leave it in first Castro funny some mints it could be far okay once upon a time at the foot of a great mountain there was a town where the people known as happy folk lived their very existence a mystery to the rest of the world obscured as it was by great clouds here they played out their peaceful lives was enough you know what it it moves to a sort of spooky you know Morricone kind of say that's when the camouflage that's when the strangers yeah I think that's the them then one day strange folk if we could get to that and then when that starts then this bit star so right for the first time the happy folk felt fearful for they knew that soon the monkey would stir from its deep deep sleep then there came a sound distant at first they grew into a pest Rafa so immense it could be heard far away in space there were no strange there was no time the mountain called monkey had spoken and then nothing [Music] [Music] [Music] boys okay Pinot lovely now you and Dolly good things like this the enemy absolute the enemy and editor the enemies and all the journalists who write on the enemy it's like I can even get behind this or don't bother we've written casters interviews edited out here edited asked him those with venomous questions and he's written those are very funny answers as noodle and then they've edited them and rewritten them to make themselves look like a bunch of smart as [ __ ] they're not because they're bunch of who changed their opinion every week who's best we didn't cover with them today that they want to do a day yeah when Harry comes out as a single they want to do it as as a cover and then it family want to even have my artwork all the fun of the enemy he can't really help you sell that many singles anymore can it being on the company an enemy must mean absolutely [ __ ] all especially when you're sort of in the top five in America with your album what's the enemy gonna do for you sell your next with five copies to a couple of raise Aniyah fans maybe we should just not bother because they sound something and they do I say that I tell you I thought they were all preaching to the converted anyway I need to get on now I can feel his beady eyes on the back of my neck Trebek this is what the answer is that started off on an album I made on the last tour who demo crazy which was just all on four tracked whole record totally unfinished just the first source of scratchings they making hotel room tour and I just left and I never developed it that's helped out the area started [Music] [Music] [Music] and that sort of scream sound is you raising up we throw it off and then bang you start okay don't babble anybody as the rap goes on you sort of probably sort of calm down a bit more because in the end of it you know what I want to do is dance and you sort of by that okay would it be nice if he comes out the hoenn does that I mean he's here and then it's on top of the truck and in close psychic someone's like he's a phantom we keep it period if you're gonna get the truck in it then we might as a woman he can be on top of the truck we can be looking up and he can be and the camera yeah this is the point of the day where we bury our featured artist it's desert Ruy under their booty yeah tiny little voice thank you thank you we're trying to create something that has no references to kind of rock music whatsoever it's more like a film score revisited you know with with some reference points of the film around him it's kind of very it is very much a program of music no no but for some reason I just slightly bigger to it thoroughly dead you want to come and look around the side here Damon Damon come and have a look around this side you can look over all down that side you like this is there's a stage curtains pit screen hanging won't forget the screen this up on this guy but here's some kind of panels at the bat band in front of them and then you've got the whole thing here wire strings when it's glossy floor so you get the colors reflections it's what you know my initial thoughts are let's make this try and make them interesting like a stain but [ __ ] it let's have everybody on the same level you right at the back yes and we still have some kind of panels of fish hole and I think of the battle is just like you know a smaller silhouette at the back you think you'd be less and then you've got quiet here you can have all of the strings on today [Music] [Music] the often it's not me it's just a smells been puking up in there man to [ __ ] come on [Music] [Music] great put in Britain to knightstown this might head to build ready once you guys just be on stage for like three and a half minutes and done you say oh it's beautiful like they have someone for us to walk off and then someone try to hand us a towel was like funny [Applause] you know you say they attend to that which it's another Wow really in a series of Wow [Music] [Applause] [Music] she can understand give me this where that mean stick three fingers at me you I don't get out this yeah [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] good morning wait wait honey what are you trying to say about me yeah flew in last night yeah am I gonna get here unless I have a long flight unless you've invented a new form of travel heard the words first time so I was about to bring them out in the context of New York Apollo no doubt singing no it doesn't it just to keep myself among I have keep myself among the poor people who are burning in the Sun it says ha I was rude see that's that donessa it's not the lyrical choice if I need a gun to keep myself among the poor people burning in the Sun say the word the last word again the Hmong this is my mom yet one word makes a major difference there's not harm at for some birds that yes we're all going but as they're singing the wrong end and I don't know why he's done it in England with kids of similar ethnic backgrounds and it was recorded in Atlanta with purely exactly with with so it's kind of its origins are already amongst amongst but but when you say that word I mean just for you to change this word from harm to a ma I need a gun to keep myself among it's a kind of rhetorical thing it's an anti-war song if you look at booty Browns the Loom is utterly and totally anti that it is pacifist the whole record is a pacifist record what's the down here they get the gun the gun is is is is is I suppose I see the gunner and I use it throughout the record as as a strong kind of it's such a it's it is such a negative image that it has to be somehow sort of destroyed and turned into something else you know it's do you know what I mean that's all I'm trying to do in the record that's all I'm trying to do so I'm being very very upfront and yes having using a kids choir on the record it is it's but but you know to be honest with you you're the first people who have actually have actually who are you even really thought about they're very shocking but my mother finds it shocking that I made these records and no one seems to kind of sort of understand that there's this and and I'm I mean I'm sure if I live in a UK I could probably get a more understanding of it but I'm told my decision I wrote a song our situation that happened here and the way they want weapons here you know we have yeah I think what I hear you saying is that it's almost there that the dichotomy between dark and light exactly it's called demon days that's five words okay I get to know where's Damon I've been stressed out I mean really seriously I mean I've never gone on never but you know I mean I love music but man I'd never you know except for this one then when I played Sinatra have I ever even thought about performing a song much less you know I can't sing no but this is like you know it's just yeah well that keen looking for a meal I yeah yeah any more of your stress to this okay fantastic night tonight and you know really enjoy and you know you'll be kind of every [ __ ] buddy was ever in and then but they've got this they've got this lucky tree stump which they can't carry around this is wonderful you just ice like you can stick your head in it and it's just there's a sound in there that's it's beautiful I love how I love the feel of Parliament [Laughter] this is everything you need [Applause] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] we'll come down to it she was standing okay okay I've been working over the last six years [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] you
