[Music] hey what's up guys will here for GSM Marina which is better Apple phones or Android phones that is the question and what better way to find an answer than by comparing the top iPhone the iPhone 15 Pro Max to the Google Flagship the Google pixel 8 Pro let's put them head-to-head and see which one comes out on top this year's flagships from Google and apple both bring some meaningful improvements and they're some of the most premium phones you can find on the market they're also even more comparable than ever as this year's iPhones have ditched lightning connectivity for USBC the phones are quite large but they're similar in hand feel even if on paper the pixel is taller and thicker is protected by Gilla glass victus 2 on the back while the iPhone's back glass is unspecified the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a titanium frame this year but even so it's slightly heavier than the pixel the iPhone also features a new programmable action key evolved from the silencer Hardware button both phones have an ip68 rating against dust and water but the iPhone has been tested down to 6 M underwater while the pixel only covers the standard 1.5 M requirement the screens are rather similar the pixel has a 6.7 in ltpo OLED with a 120 HZ refresh rate and Gorilla Glass victus 2% protction the pro Max also has a 6.7 in 120 HZ OLED with a slightly different pixel density and ceramic shield glass when it comes to brightness the two are comparable the pixel maxes out at around 950 nits with a manual slider versus around 850 on the pro Max but when it comes to maximum auto brightness the pro Max goes up higher to nearly 1,800 nits versus 1600 on the pixel content looks excellent on either phone but the iPhone has the edge and that it supports Dolby Vision on top of the hdr10 and hdr10 plus video support you get on the pixel on either phone you get a dynamic refresh rate that gives you fluid swiping and scrolling and can dial down as low as 1 Hertz in order to save energy both the iPhone and the pixel have some of the best stereo speakers on the market the pixel has a slightly lower rating for loudness and we feel the iPhone sound quality is a bit better you can check out for yourself with the provided link the software experience is probably the biggest difference between the two phones on one side you get Apple's IOS 17 and on the other Google's stock Android 14 of course both of them pack unique customization options and features but Google heavily promotes its AI based features which include things like live translation of conversations on the iPhone you get the dynamic Island around the selfie cutout here the UI shows relevant info and shortcuts to supported apps the iPhone also supports USBC alt mode where you can output the phone's display to an external monitor this is supposedly also supported on the pixel but would require you to root the phone at least for now when it comes to software support Apple's is solid they traditionally offer 5 years of major OS upgrades this year however Google made an even bigger promise the pixel 8 family will get 7 years of software support the iPhone 15 Pro Max packs Apple's most powerful A7 Pro chipset which they claim is better at gaming than any of its PR assessors thanks to its hardware-based rate racing the pixel 8 Pro on the other hand uses Google's tensor G3 chipset which they claim is well optimized for AI based tasks but in benchmarks it Trails behind other current Flagship silicon both phones feel really smooth and responsive in your day-to-day tasks but when it comes to raw power for something like gaming the iPhone clearly comes out ahead the pixel 8 Pro has a larger battery than the iPhone 15 Pro Max but the iPhone does does more with what it has in our proprietary tests it earned a much higher endurance rating of 118 hours versus 90 hours on the pixel on the other hand the pixel is faster to charge it can go from 0 to 53% in half an hour versus 46% on the iPhone in the same amount of time a full charge took 83 minutes on the pixel where the iPhone needed 109 minutes both phones support wireless charging too the pixel and the iPhone are expert camera phones on the iPhone you get a 48 map main cam a 12 map 5 times telephoto cam a 12 map Ultra wide Cam and a 3D TF lar scanner the pixel setup is quite similar there's a 50 megap main cam a 48 map 5 time telephoto zoom and a 48 map Ultra wide cam the differences between the two are minimal maybe most noticeable is that the pixel has the livelier color reproduction versus the more reserved colors from the iPhone the iPhone has a small Advantage when it comes to detail and sharpness but the difference isn't very big two times digital Zoom is again excellent on either phone comparing the five time zoom from the telephotos we're seeing about the same sharpness and detail but the pixel has the edge in noise performance and we'd give the nod to the pixels Ultra wide over the iPhones as far as sharpness goes in low light the iPhone's approach is more conservative it's less eager to use the automatic night mode and even when it does it doesn't brighten up the images as dramatically as the pixel the iPhone does tend to Fair better when zooming in thanks to a more relaxed take on noise reduction the pixel wipes out some of the detail alongside the noise with the ultra wide cam the pixel clearly has the brighter Shadows while the iPhones can sometimes come out too dark the iPhone is known to be a go-to smartphone for video recording but the pixel was no slouch either the quality of 4K video from the main cam is comparable but the pixel has a minor Edge in sharpness at five times Zoom is more of a tossup between the two when it comes to sharpness and detail the iPhone tends to be more consistent in his color reproduction between cameras while the pixel's ultrawide 4K video is a little off in comparison both phones have excellent video stabilization but would give the iPhone the nod here for its smoother handling of more extreme situations like running when recording video at night the quality is similar but the iPhone does a better job at containing highlights however it's also more prone imperfections like ghosting and internal flare the pixel has a 10.5 megap selfie cam while the iPhones is 12 megapixels both have autofocus and the selfie quality is quite comparable and here's a look at the 4K selfie video quality from either phone so there you have it guys Google versus Apple duking it out so which Flagship is the best the iPhone 15 Pro Max has better water resistance and both a more powerful chipset and better battery life you also also get unique features like secure face ID the dynamic Island and the action key the pixel 8 Pro on the other hand will get you more AI based functionality and longer software support it charging speed is a bit faster and it takes more vibrant looking photos but maybe the biggest upside of the pixel 8 Pro is that it's much less expensive than the iPhone 15 Pro max if you're looking for a camera phone both of these will do the job so it might be worth going for the pixel for those savings otherwise you'll have to weigh the pros and cons as well as Android versus iOS to see which one suits you better thanks for watching and see you on the next one
