hey in this tutorial you will learn how to use render dock to import models from Google Maps into blender first download the lmhos maps models importer add-on for the GitHub page the file is under the release section scroll down the page and download the zip file I won't do it again since I already have a download on my computer but it's important that you know the location for the file now go to the render Doc Page and please don't download the latest version because you probably have issues of it instead go to the other builds link scroll to you see the 1.26 version download installer for your operating system and double-click the dot XZ file to install it I already have installed it so I won't do it again but it's pretty straightforward you probably want to have issues with it now open blender I'm using the 3.5 version but the add-on will probably work with the newest versions as well go to edit preferences add-ons install and open the folder where you downloaded the first file click on it and then on install add-on now type maps on the search bar and make sure that the checkbox is checked to be sure it worked click on file import and you should see the option to import RDC files now open render doc go to tools settings and make sure the box for enable process injection is checked because it isn't by default after checking it restart render Dock and click on inject into process press Windows plus r type CMD press enter and paste the following command using shift plus insert change the browser location according to yours and press enter it's pretty important that you don't press ok just yet instead remember this number search it on render dock press refresh if it didn't appear click on it and then uninject now we can finally click OK on the browser to be sure it worked check on the top left if you see this now open Google Maps gather the location you want to download and make sure it's on the 3D satellite view focus on a point of interest in my case I'm focused on this Stadium we have on our city from the 2014 World Cup the closest you are the more detailed the model will be but you have less data of the surrounds so keep that in mind now open render Dock and increase the capture after delay to around 2 seconds then click on the option quickly go back to the browser and shake the camera like this this will make sure that the draw calls are captured by render Dock and we can later export this model to blender double-click on the capture and make sure you see this caller passes on the side if you see more than one that's a very good sign now right click on the capture and save this file back in blender remove everything go to file import Google Maps capture and select the file you just saved from render dock this can take a few minutes so don't worry if it's taking too long it worked Now set the render mode to preview to see the model with textures and now you can do whatever you want with it it's important to note that there are a lot of discussions about using these models for commercial projects so I recommend that you use them mostly for reference when modeling something so you don't have legal issues later that's it thanks for your attention so far like And subscribe to see more content like this I'm just starting this Channel and tutorial ideas are always welcome so if you have any requests don't forget to leave it in a comment below ciao
