hey folks welcome back to Mark Kelly Farm we're finally going to get around to reviewing our good works tractor stump Wrecker there she is we've got a job for it so let's get after it we picked this dump wrecker bucket up from Good Works tractors I watch Courtney on his channel we picked it up right before the first of the year I used my Harvest money to buy it I've been wanting one for a long time because I really see a youth for it around the homestead here and I contemplated building one myself because you know if you've been watching the channel I can build some stuff but looking at the the prices of the steel and all that and my time it just didn't make sense to build one so I looked up Courtney's website good works tractors and priced it out and it was very reasonable it was uh right around 800 last year I can't guarantee what it is this year because we all know prices change and material prices go up so it was very affordable I ordered it up it shipped right to my door uh UPS brought it and dropped it right off it was packed very well to keep it from getting scratched up so let's take a look at it real quick here she is you can see we've already got dirt on it because they actually used it over the winter because I had some ice and some snow that was creating some issues some drainage issues so I had to chip some drainage trenches into the ice and it actually worked out pretty good with these teeth that are on the front I was able to chip through the ice there was no way I was going to do it by hand but when this thing first came I was very impressed with the craftsmanship on it everything was put together real nicely it was really clean there was no Jagged edges anywhere it's nice heavy gauge steel probably 3 16 inch steel with a John Deere quick attack you can also get it in the skid steer quick attach model but it's got some good reinforcement heavy heavy Square tubes top and bottom also has a chain slot here or you can hook a chain in there and pick stuff up and it's got the serrated edges on the the side blades there to get through the roots and stuff when you're pulling a tree out it's got a replaceable teeth here on the front I can't see using this thing enough where I'm going to wear those out but that's a nice option what I also liked with this dump bucket is it's shorter some of the stump buckets you see are like three feet long and anybody that's got one of these John Deere tractors knows that these tilt cylinders aren't very powerful and you get enough leverage out here you're not going to be able to work this thing so being shorter we're going to have a lot more Force when we're in the ground with these tilt cylinders to pop things up out of the ground now Kelly has finally given me the go-ahead to take this a little berry bush out here what kind of berry is this babe was it a quince no uh I can't remember right now can't remember but it's right here in the way is as long as just like some of the other stuff here on the property right where there's a nice thoroughfare here it's right in the way it'd be better if it was planted near a corner or near a border like we're going to do here in a minute with Kelly's new elderberries but it's just in the way when we want to drive the tractor through here and the mower through here it's not an ideal spot so we're gonna pop this thing out of the ground and we're going to show you how this dump wrecker works [Music] [Music] you can see how it made short work of that popped it right up out of the ground we had plenty of tilt Force to uh once we got down in the dirt we were able to kick that stuff out so now I can go get my brush Crusher which is one of my other favorite implements and we'll pick all this up and shake it out and we'll put some dirt in this hole but so far uh fantastic really love that so another thing you can use this for is like a giant shovel so say we wanted to plant a tree uh we could dig a hole fairly easily with this stump wrecker and in fact we're going to plant some elderberries right now Kelly got some elderberries today and we're going to dig the holes for Kelly to plant her elderberries [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] all right we got all these holes dug all the way down the line took us about 10 minutes at the most probably would have took us two hours to dig them all by hand very handy finally remembered what these were they're black currants and we had a piece of it that still had good roots on it so we put it here in the corner where it's not in the way and we'll water that in and chances are it's going to grow so you could also use this thing for a tree spade would work just fine if you had some small trees you wanted to transplant or move I would recommend if you're going to do delicate work like that have a spotter like you saw Kelly doing because once that bucket gets down below the hood you really can't see what's going on now you can kind of manage if you're by yourself and you're just tearing up a stump you can you can pretty much determine where that thing is going to go you don't have to be delicate but if you're going to transplant something have somebody watching you telling when you go down and you can pick up that whole thing out of the ground in the dirt that it's in already have another hole ready for it is transported over there and plop it right in the hole would work just fine how many of you have planted asparagus before you know how deep it's got to go this is our asparagus patch way down there we're going to extend that patch clear down here to this end of the garden so you can imagine digging all that like 80 feet with a shovel and about a foot down we're going to use that stump bucket and it's going to make short work of this we're going to dig that trench like it's a little mini backhoe and then all we do is switch to the large white bucket fill it back in and we're done when we replace our three fruit trees that we need to replace we're gonna use it for that too we're going to put that thing to work on this Homestead you can see the teeth on the front are still in good shape They're Not Bent you saw how we were ramming this thing down into the ground and then tweaking it uh didn't bend anything at all everything feel good to go now I haven't used this on a bigger stump yet I really don't have one yet to dig out but when I do I can't wait to do it I think this thing's going to work phenomenal so great job on this thing Courtney he builds these things not himself but he's the one that designed this and had several different models until he fell onto this one here that he liked so fantastic I really enjoy it and if you want one go to Good Works tractors and pick it up he ships to some states for free but I'm pretty sure he said he ships anywhere in the continental United States but uh if you need something like this this is a very good tool so till next time stay safe stay healthy thumbs up on this review we'll see you next time
