Goku vs Superman: Who will actually win?

Goku versus Superman a crossover millions of fans have been clamoring for for decades but which has never manifested it's my turn to fight you now it only makes sense Superman is the quintessential superhero armed with seemingly infinite Powers you will lose and Goku's the face of anime The Benchmark everyone is compared to given their status as the world's foremost tough guys a fight between these two icons is and has been hotly debated in every corner of the globe this isn't going to be an easy fight some fans detest the idea thinking that Goku and Superman would more likely be friends than foes but if the two somehow did come to blows who would come out on top if we fight we fight for real the last son of Krypton or the hope of the [Music] universe Superman's history is incredibly long after all he's one of the first modern superheroes in the world since the 1930s a variety of authors have given us their own takes on Superman each with its own origin power set and characterization from his appearances in liveaction movies comic books animated movies and cartoons it's almost impossible to give a general description for the Man of Steel still we can try due to his Kryptonian physiology Superman is endowed with a variety of powers when exposed to the light of a yellow star Powers including super strength super speed flight near invulnerability laser vision ice beam x-ray vision and more he can see the tiniest microbes with his supervision and hear the cries of an innocent victim from galaxies away the closer Superman is to the Sun the more powerful he becomes and if the star is blue the effect is even greater if he's ever knocking on death's door all Superman has to do is be near the Sun and he'll come right back to full strength or Beyond over the years Superman real name Cal L has had some absolutely insane showings there's the time he dragged a chain of planets across the universe as a teenager or the time he sneezed away a solar system after inhaling sneezing Powder made by the massively powerful mixes pul he's even gone toe-to-toe with the Flash in a foot Race Across the Universe showing he's not only fast in the air but on his feet as well he's reversed Time by flying backwards around the earth and fought some of the most terrifying foes the universe has ever seen ranging from mindless killing machines like Doomsday to Gods such as dark side he's got a genius intellect due to his Kryptonian Heritage and can survive flights through the vacuum of space and even outside the universe going way way faster than the speed of light though he isn't the most skilled hand-to-hand combatant as shown by his lost to Muhammad Ali when his powers were temporarily removed Superman is someone you don't want to mess with just ask the people who went up against them such as doomsday doomsday is a Marvel of Science and a dread to all living things he was created hundreds of thousands of years ago on Krypton long before Superman's species flourished the Twisted scientist bertron sent a baby to to the ungodly planet to be killed by the hostile environment found there when he met his fate the baby's cells were collected and cloned and sent to die again and again and again after enough goes around a beast emerged with the capabilities to kill just about anything and a marked disdain for all life especially Kryptonian he would then hop on a supply ship to leave the planet and spread Carnage throughout the Universe he even stopped by apocalypse and killed dark side's comrade making the overlord feel fear for the first time in his life when doomsday first showed up on Earth he beat the entire Justice League International with just one hand when Superman showed up and tried to help he only made matters worse after attacking the monster together the league freed his second arm from the restraints placed on him thousands of years beforehand when he was defeated by a powerful being known as the radiant that fight ended up killing a fifth of the planet by the way with his second arm free Doomsday immediately finished off the small fries and attacked Superman setting the stage for The Ultimate Showdown the two fought a vicious battle as Superman tried desperately to keep doomsday from reaching Metropolis but to no avail seeing her cousin take a beating Supergirl tried to intervene but doomsday beat her with one punch when all was said and done the Man of Steel and the Mindless monster fought each other in a Titanic battle in the Heart of the City each blow sending shock waves through the air and crumbling the buildings around them after the most exhausting Battle of his life barely standing Superman managed to put all his strength into one final attack and land a killing blow on the monster at the same time doomsday landed a lethal blow of his own as these Titanic hits landed the two behemoths fell though both would come back to life later on doomsday due to his special physiology that allows him to revive from Death unable to be killed the same way again and Superman by being put in a healing Matrix in the Fortress of Solitude his home away from civilization found deep in the North Pole aside from doomsday there's also the terrifying Dark Side dark side is a new God from apocalypse a fiery planet in a far-off solar system that would better be called hell as a God he is one of the most powerful beings in the universe but this title isn't enough for him he seeks absolute control of the universe and to attain it searches for the mythical anti-life equation which would allow him complete control over all living beings in his Conquest he's come up against Superman numerous times raining down punishment on the Kryptonian in the form of his Omega beams devastating ey lasers that always hit their target these beams are powered by the Omega effect and can do a variety of things including teleporting their targets to a destination of dark side's choosing usually though the Tyrant prefers to use them to disintegrate his victims the Omega effect is powerful enough to destroy all but the most powerful beings with just a touch including Heroes as powerful as Supergirl even galatis one of the most powerful beings in Marvel acknowledges Dark side's power after being hit by the beams when the Omega effect isn't enough dark side is more than willing to engage in good oldfashioned fisty cuffs with the world's foremost superhero or use any of his other tricks to get the win though both Titans have gotten the upper hand on one another over the years Superman remains as one of the only people in the universe powerful enough to stand against and stand over Dark Side even in fights against fellow Heroes such as Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman each a Powerhouse in their own right Superman usually comes out on top showing time and time again why he's the most respected hero in the DC universe but how would he fair in the Dragon Ball Universe Sun Goku same named kakarat is a bit like Superman like Superman he was sent to Earth from a dying Planet only instead of Krypton his home world was named Planet Vegeta shortly after Bardock sent Kakarot offworld the evil space Emperor Frieza blew the planet up motivated partially by fear of the Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God Legends and partially by an order from the God of destruction beerus to wipe out the evil saans the Sans are an extremely powerful warmongering race and they're placed into casts based on their power levels shortly after birth even low class saans like Goku are considered powerful enough to conquer planets such as Earth by themselves when they reach adulthood after dying in a fight with his brother rits and training with King Kai a cosmic God who oversees the north Galaxy Goku's power began to balloon at an accelerating rate and just a year after he met rits he beat the indomitable Frieza having become the first Super Saiyan in a thousand years how powerful was Frieza well let's look at it this way in The saian Saga Vegeta threatened to blow up Earth with his G gun attack when his power level was just 18,000 frieza's weakest form clocked in at 530,000 almost 30 times as much as Vegeta when he blew up the saian home world with one finger when he transformed to his final form on Namek with a power level around 3 million Frieza absolutely terrorized the cast shooting his signature death Beam at dende so fast that no one could even see it move to them it just looked like he pointed his finger and dende died these are characters who casually react to light speed plus attacks completely unable to even perceive frieza's movements when Vegeta whose power level was now in the millions fired off a much stronger giant G gun at Frieza the Tyrant simply kicked it into space without getting a single scratch on him he lifted up a mountain of rock and threw it at Goku using telekinesis and though the saying caught it its momentum was too great for him to stop even using a 20-fold kaio-ken and shooting a Kamehameha that would shatter Earth literally thousands of times over at him Goku was only barely able to hurt frieza's hand and that was Frieza at half Power by the way Frieza would then go on to survive a Spirit Bomb made from the energy of Namek and several nearby planets before finally losing to Goku in a Super Saiyan form by the time he reached 100% full power frieza's power level was 120 million more than 6,600 times that of Vegeta when he threatened to destroy the Earth from here no matter how tough the challenge got Goku and his friends would rise to meet it becoming more and more powerful with every trial cell a biomechanical monster made from the cells of Goku Frieza and all the other strongest fighters on Earth was powerful enough to destroy the entire solar system in one shot and Majin Buu was dozens of times stronger than him Buu was able to rip through Dimensions with just a shout as could Goten his near equal in combat and in the anime Majin Buu even threatened to collapse the entire universe around him following an embarrassing beating at the hands of Vegito the insurmountable Fusion of Goku and Vegeta who ended up defusing after the demon absorbed him by the time he beat Majin Buu Goku was the second strongest mortal in the universe surpassed Only By His Son Gohan as powerful as he was though he still had a lot of room to grow when he met the God of destruction beerus in Battle of Gods Dragon Ball super he transcended the Mortal plane and jumped head first into godhood as a Super Saiyan God Goku's power was on a whole different level than ever before he was so strong that just bumping fist with beerus threatened to destroy the entire universe ever since then Goku who just keeps getting stronger and stronger today he studies under the angel whis the most powerful being in Universe 7 to perfect Ultra Instinct a fighting technique which allows a person's body to move on its own accord defending and attacking without a thought over the years Goku has had a variety of Masters and picked up some truly awesome techniques including energy manipulation such as Goku's most iconic move the Kamehameha a these attacks work by focusing key also called Chi into attacks of varying power the effectiveness of an attack depends on the technique and how much concentration is put into it and more generally the greater ones key the more potent attack they can make Goku learned the Kamehameha after seeing it performed by Master roshi an immortal sage and his first martial arts teacher and he's been upgrading it ever since he unveiled the super KEH hameha in his fight against Piccolo Jr and by the time he goes Super Saiyan 4 in Dragon Ball GT a sequel to Z which is largely considered non-cannon Goku can even do the overwhelmingly powerful 10 times Kamehameha an attack whose red color alone should tell you it's nothing to be played [Applause] [Music] with the Spirit Bomb Goku's ultimate technique the Spirit Bomb works by absorbing geni from Goku's surroundings geni meaning Vigor or energy is one of the components of keyi other components include Yuki or courage and Shoki or right-mindedness basically the Spirit Bomb works by taking Genki not only from living beings such as people and animals but also from Stars the atmosphere and other objects King Kai warns Goku early on to be careful drawing energy from the Sun as even a little bit of it could destroy Earth if wasn't careful the strength of the Spirit Bomb varies based on how many people give energy and how much they give but in general it's Goku's strongest attack and it's the same attack that put down horrible villains such as Majin Buu and Omega Shenron in the movie Super Android 13 Goku absorbs the Spirit Bomb to augment his power and crush the title villain though it's unclear whether he could do such a thing in the Cannon story Kaio can another technique Goku learned from King Kai the kaio-ken multiplies Goku's speed and power temporarily when he first learned the attack going above two times power hurt Goku's body and using kaio-ken times 4 for one attack left him completely wrecked but nowadays Goku can crank it up to times 20 without breaking a sweat transformation Goku is the first Super Saiyan in 1,000 years what's a Super Saiyan it's a transformation that cranks a Saiyan's power up does dozens of times over Goku originally became a Super Saiyan when he fought Frieza but since then he's trained the form and surpassed it becoming a Super Saiyan 2 and even a Super Saiyan 3 before he fought Majin Buu at the god of destruction's behest he underwent a ritual to become a Super Saiyan God utterly surpassing his previous limits as mentioned before Super Saiyan God is so strong that when it met Lord beerus in battle the ensuing shock waves nearly destroyed the universe after that fight Goku who combined Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God becoming a Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan or Super Saiyan blue for short which is even stronger than his already Universe crushing God form he then slapped 10 times kaio-ken on top of that and became so great he could move in stopped [Music] time in the tournament of power he cranks it up further to times 20 even this power is nothing compared to his ultimate transformation though Ultra Instinct both a form and a technique Goku's white-haired Ultra instinct is indescribably powerful in addition to being able to dodge and attack on its own this form comes with a serious buff to Goku's speed and strength whereas a 20 times kaio-ken Super Saiyan blue couldn't even budge jiren Ultra Instinct utterly surpassed him forcing him to go beyond his limits to stay in the fight and still lose since then Goku continues to train with the form and technique and his battles against foes such as Morrow and granola have only improved it the form additionally grants him defensive capabilities such as adapting to attacks by hardening the body as well as offensive capabilities such as a giant energy Avatar that can throw enemies into space solar flare a technique that sends out a blinding light to incapacitate whoever sees it mind reading Goku read krillin's Mind by placing his hand on his head during the Namek Saga telekinesis Goku can move objects with his mind such as water when he was in the hospital God bind Goku was able to temporarily stop Broly's movements with his technique who at the time was as strong as a Super Saiyan God super strength while he might not be dragging planets around the universe Goku's no slouch having caught giant rocks thrown at him by Frieza lifted giant weights on King Kai's planet with gravity 10 times greater than Earth's and trained in 100 times Earth's gravity on way to Namek under said gravity Goku's body would weigh 6.8 tons or over 13,600 lb despite this Goku was zipping around like normal and even braced for his own Kamehameha to hit him attacks which are almost certainly faster than light for the record Goku's power level was less than 90,000 when he trained in 100 times gravity super speed as a child Goku dodged tien's solar flare and moved fast enough to grab grab Roshi's glasses off his face and put them on before the light from the attack could blind him he dodged lightning while training with Kami and has dodged key attacks at Point Blank Range on numerous occasions as people become more powerful in Dragon Ball they generally become faster too as do their attacks so Goku's speed is quite impossible to quantify what's certain is that he can move way faster than light in a fight though his travel speed is less consistent Goen was able to circumnavigate the globe several times in his Super Saiyan form before he trained in got stronger so given Goku's vastly Superior power one would expect him to be many many times faster easily exceeding the speed of light however Goku has never actually been seen flying faster than light so whether he can is a mystery especially given that SS probably can't survive in a vacuum regeneration Super Saiyan God showed regenerative capabilities in the fight against beerus heightened senses Goku can sense key which means not only can he tell a person's level of power but also their intentions as shown when he stood still against trunks's blade in the Android Saga Goku can also locate others based on their key Goku also showcased the ability to fight in complete darkness by feeling air currents when he faced yakan in the Majin Buu Arc teleportation Goku can teleport using Instant Transmission to use the technique Goku visualizes a place or person and teleports to their key signature for large distances a large key signature is needed to lock onto Goku cannot teleport if he cannot concentrate well expert combatant Goku has learned martial arts from some of the greatest Masters in the universe in addition he can learn moves after seeing them once as he did with his signature move the Kamehameha enough about the strengths though what are their weaknesses do these mammoths even have any as it turns out they do Superman's greatest weakness is Kryptonite a mineral fragment of his Home Planet Krypton generally Kryptonite diminishes or negates a Kryptonian power entirely and it often hurts them or makes them sick as well in Superman the animated series Just A Shard of kryptonite causes Superman visible distress and a handheld dragon statue made of kryptonite immediately leaves Superman unable to stand oh what's the matter supie in the Super Boy comics of yester year which are written about a young Superman callow mentions that a cloud of kryptonite radiation could kill him after Kryptonite Superman's biggest weakness is Red Sun light though it doesn't often hurt him like kryptonite does it can still reduce or negate his powers though the extent of and time to produce such an effect is inconsistent next Superman is vulnerable to Magic this means he cannot resist magic the same way he does bullets and energy attacks Mr Mixie says as much when he tricks Superman into breathing his magic sneezing powder Goku knows some magic techniques such as the mafuba which could prove useful against the Man of Steel Goku's biggest weakness is his carelessness when he is off guard he is at his most vulnerable something Frieza took advantage of when he had his servant shoot Goku with a ray [Applause] gun even bullets are capable of hurting Goku when he isn't taking things seriously luckily for him Ultra Instinct seems to counteract this tendency though it doesn't last forever additionally Goku cannot breathe in deep space at least as far as the DBS manga is concerned and thus would have to fight Superman inside a planet's atmosphere now that you know a bit about both characters it's time to tackle the question at hand who would win it all in a No Holds Barred grueling mono aono Deathmatch between these two Cosmic Gladiators the Man of Steel with a power list as long as a CVS prescription or The Monkey King with an appetite as boundless as the ocean regardless of who wins let's just be glad it's Superman who's fighting Goku and not sourman sour man real named Kenta Clark is a reporter for penguin News Network in Dr slumps Penguin Village he even appeared in Dragon Ball during the general blue Saga as the story brought Goku and foes to Penguin Village of course sour man was no match for General Blue's superhuman strength so good luck fighting Goku all right back to Goku and the real Superman well the results are in and the winner of this hypothetical match of the Millennium is inconclusive sorry to say but there's just no way to say for sure who who would win in an allout match between these two Titans for starters their worlds work too differently for example Superman says he can crumble a planet if he punches at it enough whereas Goku's punches threaten the universe itself a level of destructive power Superman could never hope to dish out on the other hand Superman has lifting and speed feeds Goku has never even come close to replicating such as moving across a Galaxy in milliseconds when he was just 15 years old or dragging a string of planets Across the Universe and for all the grand showings the two have they have plenty of low lights as well think of Goku who dodged lightning as a child getting hit by bullets as a grown man or how he put the rabbit gang on the moon in early DB but supposedly can't breathe in space then look at Superman who can fly from one end of the universe to the other admitting from his own mouth that he is not faster than light one of Superman's most powerful attacks the infinite Mass punch requires him to fly at light speed in order to gain relativistic mass and land a devastating blow but this would hardly be special if he could move at Galactic speeds since even light speed is nothing on a galactic scale the same author who wrote super boy pulling planets with ease would later write a comic in which Superman used all of his might to move the Earth and these are contradictions concerning Canon versions of said characters when one considers the incredible amount of media the two have been in over the years nailing down their exact capabilities is a sopian task it can't be done the reasons for these inconsistencies often have to do with different authors and different focuses for examp example when Oto binder showed Superman moving a star it mirrored his earlier writing style employed in Marvel family here characters often moved planets and stars even moving billions of them at one point to prevent two galaxies from colliding to Otto moving stars was just the thing strong people do other authors didn't have the same ideas Jim shooter wrote him as moving multiple planets in 1967 but in 1969 decided he could just barely move the Earth simply put different authors had different narrative goals that resulted in Superman being more or less powerful in each issue Goku suffers from a similar narrative based inconsistency when Dragon Ball was first serialized it was a gag manga hence why Goku did things such as going to the Moon with his power pole as the focus got more serious Toriyama cut back on the gags but inconsistencies still remain one famous example is that the Earth doesn't blow up from random keyi blasts despite them being far stronger than Vegeta's G gun in the S Saga this is explained by the plot Earth disappearing every time they fought wouldn't be interesting for all their strengths and weaknesses valid arguments can be made either way in a who would win scenario can Superman withstand Goku's Universe breaking punches can Goku stop Superman from lobotomizing him the way he did doomsday in the Justice League animated series as the late Stan Lee founder of Marvel Comics and contributor to DC said the person who would win in a fight is the person who the script writer wants to win what this means is that although it's fun to speculate we as fans never know how an actual crossover would go when Superman crossed over with He-Man in the80s he managed to knock him off his feet and the Hulk punches brushed off Superman's invulnerable chest when Goku fought Luffy and too he was the clear leader of the bunch but he ended up drawing in a triple ring out until Goku and Superman put on some gloves and Duke it out the world may never know who do you think would win though Goku certainly would beat sour man but can he come out on top against the last son of Krypton or will he be just another foe to have tried and failed I got you figured out from that attack just now I'm just warming up you're crazy strong ready to quit yet
